I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

Hiya all,
Feeling pretty fab other than for the heat which I don't tolerate when not pg.
Have my scan next Mon (31st) and I'm pretty excited .
Someone commented yesterday that I looked really well, glowing in fact. I thought it was sunburn but they insisted I looked well so I think I may be turning the 2nd trimester corner. Can't wait to actually get a EDD.
Welcome to anyone new! Hope everyone's enjoying the ride

julezboo · 25/07/2006 15:09

Hiya all

My doppler came

9+5 today and I found the HB pretty quickly, it says as early as ten weeks, guess Im in my tenth week so it makes sense, It was such a relief!!!

Teabag - did yours come? If so how did you get on with it? Ive rung everyone so they can listen haha x x

lots of love

Julie x x 9+5

julie good news!

Bluergh, I feel sick again but I have just eaten a huge Milky Bar - bought it for the kids for a treat but they wont miss it .

Loads of people have asked if I'm pg now - I look about 5 months already! Probably due to the Milky Bars!

Hooray, we are enalry out of the first trimester - it gets easier from here!

mazzystar · 25/07/2006 21:54

Hi all

Sorry I haven't posted much lately, I'd decided to try not to think about it all very much just in case things didn't work out. Hope the nausea is abating all round.

Anyway, had my 12 week scan today, all present and correct. Its just as mindblowing and amazing the second time around. And so, so much more real now.

How did you get on Maazaa, hope all's well with you too.

Hope you are all keeping your cool and beginning to feel radiant.

flowertot · 26/07/2006 07:52

Oh I just can't wait for my scan but still another 2 weeks to go! Have booked up nuchal one, thanks to all advice hre, at great expense but think its worth it given my age. Off on holiday next week and when I come back will be 12 weeks, so hopefully will feel a little calmer after that.
Can anyone tell me what heartburn feels like? I have a funny kind of ache in top of stomach. Feels almost cold inside and very uncomfy. Would gaviscon help? My husband thinks its trapped wind but I couldn't sleep last night with it so it is pretty bad and would like to find some kind of relief

suzi2 · 26/07/2006 07:59

Heartburn hurts - it's very hot and painful. I had it something awful with DS and LIVED on Gaviscon and refreshers! What you're feeling might just be al your organs getting shoved around a bit and also the muscle softenig (stomach is a muscle). Although sometimes acid can cause spasms in the stomach or trachea (had this too with DS and doctor thought I had angina!) so gaviscon would help that. It's totallly safe so you could always try it anyway? It's minging but if you take it long enough you get a taste for it!

flowertot · 26/07/2006 08:20

Thanks Suzi, doesn't sound like heartburn then. It feels like a really bad case of butterflies in the tummy, very odd feeling. Maybe its just everything moving around as you say. Lets hope it eases by tonight, I need some sleep!

soundbites · 26/07/2006 08:35

Hello all (welcome newcomers)

Haven't posted for ages - was away on hols last week and with the heat it was an excellent time to not be doing the London commute. Today my boss has been amazing and asked if I'd like to work from home to avoid the heat. Bliss. I'll be working from home tomorrow too so I can go to my first scan in the morning (yippee, can hardly wait!).

Embarrassing topic - I think I've got piles (sorry if tmi) . I have a vague recollection of hearing that this is normal in pregnancy (I will be 13 weeks tomorrow). Can anyone confirm this and suggest what to do? I have been as good as I can be to eat 'roughage' ? e.g. oats porridge every morning ? but can't face brown bread so have switched to white which isn't so good. It is just a bit sore and unpleasant ? Sympathy / advice gratefully accepted!

Stay cool xxx

Wow! Lots of scans. fantastic.

I'm excited by 'just as mind blowing second time round'...

I'm 9+4. Haven't felt nearly as sick this week as last, just tired and weak! The heat is not helping though!

Lovely to read all your chat.

Take care.

maazaa · 26/07/2006 10:28

hello all! well, it's official! I am giving birth to a King Prawn - well that's what it looks like on the scan!!!

All went well (no knicker removal!) yesterday and apart from being desperate for a wee having drunk requisite pints of water, it was very enjoyable. Just the one king prawn with a heart flashing on and off. Size wise, she put my EDD back a week, which makes sense as we know when we conceived (was not a rampant month!!) so I am 9 + 6 today and due 22.2.07!

Flowertot - I reckon try Gaviscon and if symptoms aren't relieved, pop to GP.

Soundbites - great news about lovely boss but sorry about piles! Not nice for you. The main thing is not to strain (eugh!) and make sure you are regular as constipation will make them worse/bleed. Also, use nice toilet paper or even some wet toilet paper wipes. Anusol spray or cream seems to make them smaller and minimise them. Have a look at this to reassure yourself you are not alone!!!

piles

suzi2 · 26/07/2006 10:52

Soundbites, you're not alone. I think they're common in pregnancy doe to all the extra blood and all the muscles softening. I didn't have them when pg with DS, but got them after the birth and they flare up now and then. I reckon if you get through pregnancy and birth without any you're doing well! Agree with the nice loo roll thing - go for non scratchy stuff and be gentle!

I feel uuurghghgh today. Flet awfully sick and now have a terrible headache that I can't shake. Getting up at 4:45 with DS probably didn't help and he's only given me an hour of naps since. So i've shipped him off to my mum and dads for a few hours to see if I can clear this headache! I really hope the nausea goes soon too... 10wks today so can't be long now.

peachygirl · 26/07/2006 11:05

Hi everyone, schools out !!! hooray I'm ready for a rest.
I'm off to see the midwife later so I'll check in later to tell you how that went.
I'm slightly worried about no scan letter yet and me and Dh discussed going private.
We are flying to the US on the 14th so it needs to be done before then. Sorry I can't remember who was going to the fetal medicine centre, was it any good? I will try them first if needs be.
I'm also considering buying a doppler due the the amount of flying we will be doing but am still in two minds

TuttiFrutti · 26/07/2006 12:33

Peachygirl, I've booked a scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre for a couple of weeks time. I'm dreading and looking forward to it in equal measure. Will let you all know how it goes.

soundbites · 26/07/2006 12:56

Thanks for the info on piles! Glad to know I'm not a freak. I am usually so good about what I eat, healthy balanced diet and all that, but with the nausea all I eat at the moment is what I feel like, which I'm sure doesn't help the cause! Hopefully just another week or so of feeling sick and then it will all be over. In fact, have felt fine so far today which is great (fingers crossed).

Hope you get the scan sorted Peachygirl. Maybe the midwife can arrange it for you? I know of someone who phoned her preferred (NHS) hospital direct and booked her scan that way. Worth a try?

OP posts:
maazaa · 26/07/2006 13:10

peachy - i also phoned my hospital which is why i got the scan in what would have been a day before 11 weeks (actually ten weeks). they were fine when I rang! Congrats on the hols! It's a good feeling!

suzi2 · 26/07/2006 13:37

peachy - my hospital knew a long time before my midwife (and letter!) when my scan date was set for. Try calling the hospital antenatal and ask them, I'm sure they could probably arrange a date there and then.

Babe · 26/07/2006 13:43

Just another note on the piles - I don't have them (yet) this pregnancy, but you need to drink LOADS of water to stop constipation and help everything loosen up. Like 2 litres a day. And prunes are very good. Shame crisps taste better at the moment.

Liked the King Prawn description Maazaa. I'm a vegetarian so mine gets to look like a large bean. Haricot, probably.

MrsJohnCusack · 26/07/2006 13:54

I'm still here but haven't got the strength to update much. pleased to see people are having scans etc. My booking appointment is on the 12th, they'll give scan date then (will prob be the week after I should think, it was last time)

feel like death and spend most days lying on my sofa grumbling. look about 4 months gone

and trying to work out how to manage moving to NZ before 20 week scan and you get your notes - all v.complicated and am hoping will be easyish to sort out on the NZ side.

piles - oh yes that delight. mine still come back to remind me of their presence every few months. oh joy

julezboo · 26/07/2006 15:41

hey ladies

ChaCha · 26/07/2006 16:36

Hi everyone

I always have so much to catch up on. Am part of fantastic post-natal group, we've been online now since we all found out we were pregnant last year and have continued till now...hope we can all do the same!

22.02.06 - My EDD too, hurray!!

Re: Piles, I had these after DS - had a few awful weeks with them, anusol helped as did medicated wipes. Haven't suffered with them in a while.

Very, very hot here. How are you all coping? Haven't done a thing today except lounge around with DS, oh and bath him a lot.

Who is from South Wales? MY DH is from there too

x

julezboo · 26/07/2006 16:46

Mia - i rung bupa and got a bloody answer machine LOL so much for care and treatment when you want!

Im v.high risk, so should be kept a close eye on, my previous hospital were scanning me every 10 - 14 days because i have a bleed, they told me I can see a consultant when ever I want, but now these are refusing to see me till i reach 12 weeks, i havnt seena doc for two weeks so all together it will be 5 weeks before I see anyone!! Its a long time and not very good at keeping an eye on me?!!

Im in bridgend so being seen at princess of wales hospital, ive been told its a fairly good hospital, mw on monday seemed nice and told me I would be seen by cons this week sometime and scanned next week!! Im so upset i cant stop crying. I need to no the bleed hasnt caused any harm and that my baby is still there!

Lots of Love

Julie x x 9+6
