I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

Good news about your scan cadbury. The Gp I've been seeing was also a gynae/ob specialist too!

cadbury · 18/07/2006 20:21

really? I wonder what the specific allure of being a GP is above their previous incarnation?

MrsJohnCusack · 18/07/2006 20:23

great news Cadbury

still laid low with tonisillitis here but at least it's a bit better than yesterday.

hate the weather though. But I don't feel particularly sick any more, so now of course I'm worrying over that. Could just be that I'm making myself eat at meal times of course

peachygirl · 18/07/2006 20:23

No idea, as my health centre is in a very mixed area, it's often really busy. I 've hardly been except for appointments in the last 2 months

cadbury · 19/07/2006 08:04

good to know there's someone who "knows his way around" though iykwim!!!

flowertot · 19/07/2006 09:34

Oh dear never will I complain of morning sickness/nausea again! Just had tummy bug where I was throwing up every hour through the night and the rest of the time I was lying on the bathroom floor. It was awful. Couldn't move yesterday, Dad had to come fetch me as no way could I look after DD.
Much better today I'm pleased to say. No one else had it so not sure if my body is just being overly sensitive at the moment maybe

Katsh · 19/07/2006 10:39

I've been lurking but feel the need for some sympathy today! Nearly 9 weeks, with 2 dd's. I fell a week ago and have sprained my ankle/ torn ligaments so I'm on crutches. Finding the combination of nausea, tiredness, ankle pain and heat a bit much. Only a few friends know I'm pregnant so having to be rather stoic. It's good to read of everyone else's bizarre food needs. Last night KFC was all that I wanted, and I ate a huge meal for 2. Felt great. It's the thought of fruit and veg that makes me feel queasy!

Babe · 19/07/2006 11:26

You poor thing Katsh - must be awful to be on crutches as well as everything else. And throwing up must be so miserable too, Flowertot.

Is anyone else experiencing the opposite of all this unwellness? Eg my nausea is almost gone and my breasts are not as sore as they have been. I'm panicking that all is not well, and just can't concentrate on anything else at the moment. I know that there's nothing that can be done but get on and wait until scan next week, but I'm just so worried.

suzi2 · 19/07/2006 12:06

Babe & MrsJC - I have had days of feeling fab. Not a sign of pregnancy. But I had a good scan last week and all seems well. And I was naughty yesterday and got my doppler out (very early at 8+6) and found, very faintly in the background, that chugging train heartbeat. So I think that symptoms aren't an indication of anything.

I think that it's normal for them to go down after 9or 10 wks anyway. With DS that was certainly the case. I had nothing from about 10 wks onwards, not even occasionally.

babydriver · 19/07/2006 12:35

babe, I was just thinking to myself this morning that I really feel much better. I think it's right that there's a peak in the middle of the first trimester and then things get much better, so not necessarily anything to worry about. Sympathies to flowertot and katsh and anyone else still feeling grim.

I'm still eating plenty, but now feel able to stomach some fruit and veg (apart from courgettes - gone right off those). If anyone's at home in this heat, try sticking your feet in a paddling pool or washing up bowl (take it out of the sink first if you're not a contortionist!!). I dig out the pool with DS whenever I can and I think I spend longer in it than he does!

MrsJohnCusack · 19/07/2006 12:56

I had a splash of bright red bleeding again yesterday and was very upset, but then no more. AARRRGGGGHHHH I have had enough of this worry.

thanks for that on sickness etc. Suzi2. also tonsillitis seems to be on the way out thank goodness. HAve chronic diarrhoea as well, feel like my whole body is falling to bits in the heat. Have to say have had no soreness in breasts at all this time - I think they haven't fully recovered from the last time! And the heat - grim.

sorry to hear about crutches KAtsh, totally agree about fruit and veg - bleugh!

maazaa · 19/07/2006 13:54

Hello All

Gosh - what things we have to go through. Any point going to EPU again babyd? Flowertot - sounds more like food poisoning? Did you eat something funny?

I thought I would list the foods I am desiring - no idea when actual food cravings kick in. It's so weird how the body rejects certain things on sight or smell!!!!! Bear in mind that usually I don't fancy sweet stuff ever - am savoury girl through and through!!

  1. Tuna (DH or The Tuna Police as I have named him is monitoring intake to the official one can a week! Am desperate for it!)
  2. Iced Gems
  3. Gummi Bears
  4. Pikelets toasted with butter
  5. Alpen - full sugar version
  6. Peanut butter (though not having any! Torture)
  7. Spring Onions (regret immediately afterwards)
  8. Party Rings (oh the joy of popping them in whole, icing downwards!)
  9. Big hard cold green seedless grapes
  10. Butterkist popcorn (ra ra raaaa!)

What did someone say earlier on in the thread about sweet/savoury = boy/girl?

Please bear in mind that I am not permanently eating, though there is little else to do when lying on sofa in front of fan with t-shirt and pants on! Huge respect for you ladies with other little ones!!!

maazaa · 19/07/2006 13:55

Sorry meant Mrs JC re EPU unit not BabyD! MIght put your mind at rest again?

gigglinggoblin · 19/07/2006 21:11

hello all, can i join in? am 9 weeks and havent told anyone in rl yet (other then dp of course) so just plodding on as normal and it feels wierd. dp not into looking at gooey baby stuff so i dont really talk about things much! already have 3 ds, am a little terrified but im sure i will cope

TuttiFrutti · 19/07/2006 21:19

Congratulations and welcome Gigglinggoblin!

I've been feeling almost OK again as a few others have mentioned - still very tired but nothing like the total exhaustion of the first few weeks. The mild nausea I had first thing in the morning has vanished too, so I no longer have to keep oatcakes by my bed!

Tommy · 19/07/2006 22:28

welcome to gigglinggoblin!
I've just had my booking in appt - my midwife is a very old and dear friend so she just came round this evening
Should have a scan in a couple of weeks which will put my mind at rest and then maybe I can start telling people!

Uki · 20/07/2006 02:09

Hi Everyone
I have not posted for a while, I have been so busy moving and settling in, got to get out of all the heavy stuff though.

I am about io weeks todayy and some of my syptoms are fading too-soreness in breasts, slight neausea, etc so I was getting worried too that symptoms were going away. It's weird i feel like i have nearly made it BUT there's still two weeks to go, till i have a scan.

It's the opposite of hot in Oz of course, and I am freezing all the time, my feet just won't warm up.

Does anybody else feel weird when they bend over like their stomach muscles have gone ad that you've done 20 sit-ups when you haven't?

Anyway have a great day everyone.
Bye for now

suzi2 · 20/07/2006 08:46

What are stomach muscles?

shanks313 · 20/07/2006 12:14

Hi everyone

I will be 9 weeks on Saturday and I have my bookng in appointment wth my GP on Monday.

Still very very tired, feeling queasy,I cant find anything I want to eat.
My DH made me cry yesterday because I mentioned I was feeling queasy so he mentioned cheesy sausages and burst into tears lol.He was so apologetic.
I cant wait to finally have a scan as I want to know the baby is doing okay as I miscarried before at 7 weeks.Hopefully the doc will give me an early one.
When does your tummy usually start to get firmer? Or maybe I just dont feel it so much as Im overweight.Although I have lost 4 pounds this week, with prenancy i see, to be losing weight

Tommy · 20/07/2006 13:56

LOL suzi - I had a problem with the "feeling that you've done 20 sit ups...." - no, never had that feeling
Hang in there uki - get your woolly socks on and think of us suffering in the heat!

bunny3 · 20/07/2006 14:07

Hi Gg

I have jsut had another scan! I had some bleeding yesterday (more than the usual spotting I have had throughout this pregnancy) so was given a scan at the EPU. It was lovely to see the baby waving and kicking, made it all so real!

I am 10 wks now and still feeling pukey, can only eat toast with various toppings though - I cant even cook a proper meal for my children and they have had sandwiches for lunch and dinner recently . Strangely although I can eat toast, the smell of it makes me heave - I b*llocked dh for burning a crumpet yesterday, the smell was repellant!

ChaCha · 20/07/2006 15:19

Oh you girls make me laugh LOL at burning crumpets and cheesy sausages, ha ha!

Cannot stand the smell of chips frying - had this with DS too, in fact, symptoms very the same, even have a spot in the same place on my leg!! Have been told about a good homeopathic rememdy for the nausea, need to get down to Boots and buy some - have any of you tried homeopathic remedies? Also told friend about my cravings for coca-cola to which she replied 'yes there is something in the recipe that helps with the nausea' and that i should release all the gas and have a few small sips. Felt shy to say that I usually just guzzle it down on ice without counting number of glasses apparently not good for mine or baby's calcium - i need a substitute, fizzy water is just not doing it for me!

Am 9 weeks today, cannot do anything in this heat, keeping DS entertained is more enough. Poor DH, is another bring home burgers for BBQ day [snigger, he hee!]

Hope you are all well, Bunny glad to hear everything was ok, oh i cant wait for my scan, it's August 5th i think. Don't think we'll be doing the 3D one this time - too expensive now especially when your baby refuses to wake up!!

x

sorkycake · 20/07/2006 15:59

Just thought I'd check in.
Feeling pretty good now, and people are staring at my belly when they talk to me, then looking awkward as if they don't want to ask in case it's just fat.
Life has adapted to a much slower pace in our house! Back to being able to stomach tea and just about everything else. Coke def helped me (full fat only) with the sickness and I never drink it normally.
Has anyone else managed to take their vit's? The smell is awful and I haven't took them everyday either
Beginning to wonder if I'm a bit further on than I thought tbh as I have a rather firm tummy almost up to my belly button. I don't get a scan until the 31st, it seems like I've been pg for 2 years so far.
Put on 4lb's as well, anyone know if that's a lot?

sorkycake · 20/07/2006 16:01

Oh and eating mayonnaise with everything atm.

MaybeBaba · 20/07/2006 16:03

Still here - if a little hot! I am eeling better - don't need to go to bed at 9 every nght! Feeling huge even though I have lost a few pounds - the heat does not make you feel like eating!

SIL gave me 2 bin bags of maternity clothes - enough to keep me going - tried it all on for a laugh and was pleased to see the maternity trousers are all too large! Will soon grow into those! Some tops are jsut right - off to Spain in two weeks so need floaty tops - struggling for trousers though!

Got gp appt on Monday - trying to book NT scan privately but noone answering phone - they do it on a monday evening - can't wait!
