I haven't found a Feb 2007 thread yet so thought I'd start one. Just found out I was pregnant on Monday so it is very early days still - but so exciting nonetheless. The due date calculators generally say I am due on 1 Feb, with on churning out 31 Jan and another 4 Feb. I thought it was more like 15 Feb but I will find our more at my first doctor's appointment on 15 June.

My stats:
me 28
dh 35
first baby
due 31/01 or 1/02 or 4/02 or 15/02 ???? (take your pick!)

Anyone want to join me?

I am 10 weeks today and I still do not feel any better am totally exhausted. if i dont eat every hour i feel very faint and shaky!! and am getting terrible headaches every day.
Also put on 5lbs already!!
Used my doppler nearly every other day for the last week, its so reasurring when i hear the heartbeat, thou i get myself in a bit of a state if i cant find it!!

sshhh · 21/07/2006 08:56

hi there

welcome to the newbies - there are heaps of us, it's great!

i'm 9 weeks tomorrow and have had the worst week of feeling nauseous (sp?) all the time. I really don't remember feeling this bad first time round.

We've told family and close friends now, had to as am definitely showing in the evenings and was feeling really self-conscious.

Glad to hear that folks are doing well.

Chat soon.

teabags · 21/07/2006 08:59

I'm soooo tired I was in tears when dh left for work this morning. I just don't sleep properly and last night was particularly bad

I went out with some friends last night and I'm feeling overly sensitive but one of my v good friends said something that has upset me (so trivial) and I'm sure it's me and my hormones and not her as she is lovely.

titchy - I'd really love to be able to listen to the heartbeat, where did you get your doppler from?

mummy2jake · 21/07/2006 09:09

hi everyone if there are any newbies congrats havent had chance to come on too much im 11+3 today got my scan on thursday cant wait but also a bit worried until i see the heartbeat . feeling great just getting really tired early evenings and obviously the heat which icm not going to moan about as it effects us all.
also going to have to buy some bigger tops as go on hols in about two weeks and all mine are getting to tight
speak to you all later sorry for rambling.

gigglinggoblin · 21/07/2006 12:11

dp very kindly told me yesterday that i look like im 'expanding'. have lost half a stone so its not just too much choc. dont know if i should tell people now, have never told people til afer scan tho so dont want to jinx things, but otoh i dont want people guessing before we tell family.

titchy - i have done that with every pg, ended up carrying small packets of biscuits round last time cos it got so bad. am trying to stick to slimming world this time. it does make me feel better as i tend to eat more healthily when i am on it (not doing it to actually lose weight, am not sticking to it well enough for that!). i also find if i have weetabix or porridge for breakfast it makes me feel better all day, if i just grab a biccie i feel rotten.

do the ladies with dopplers find it easy to find a heartbeat? even midwives usually struggle with me, i think it would cause massive panic if i got one but the idea is so lovely. havent been to mw yet so very jealous of all who have seen or heard their babies!

Uki · 21/07/2006 12:15

Hi All
LOL Susie and Tommy sure you have stomach muscles, apparently that's why we get back pain AFTER the baby's born because they have been overworked, something to look forward too!!!

Feeling jealous of all of those who have heard heartbeats, I might get to hear something on wednesday at ob appointment, hope so anyway.

Yeah I guess it's ben pretty hot in the Uk I won't remind you all that it was the hottest day in ??? whatever years, but that's old news isn't it.

I'm not looking forward to having a baby in the hottest month.I think i'll check in to father in laws who house we nick name 'the resort' as he has air con, pool, spa, cable TV and lots of magazines to read!

I noticed something for the first time, within an hour of taking vitamins i feel sick, so yeap they are the culprits.

keep cool all

babydriver · 21/07/2006 12:47

Sorry, this is a bit of a moan, but I'm having a crappy day at work today. Lots of new and awkward issues coming out of the blue at us, plus getting it in the neck for something my team didn't do quite right - prob justified but still not a nice place to be in. It's been a very long week (I've worked five days and usually only do four) and its annoying that I can't even play the pg sympathy card as only my PA knows!

Anyway, at least it's Friday, and I'll be having my scan on Monday lunchtime so I've got something to really look forward to once I get through today.

Hope everyone else is having a better day and not feeling quite so hot (or, Uki, quite so cold).

flowertot · 21/07/2006 14:53

I know there are no miracle cures but has anyone found anything that really does help with the queasiness?
I am getting worse everyday and its all through the night too. AM chewing ginger, eating regularly drinking plenty but don't know how much longer I can bear it.

babydriver · 21/07/2006 16:15

Poor you flowertot. How grim to have it at night as well as during the day.
Coke (left to go slightly flat) seems to be helping some folk. Although I've not been too queasy of late I have to say that I've had the taste for it after not drinking it for years and have been slurping the odd mouthful from a little bottle in the fridge.
Also there was something in the press a week or two ago about eating carbs and fruit rather than protein and veg. Slighly contrary to that, lamb and beef and other foods which are rich in zinc are also meant to help (and seemed to help me). Or you could try alternative medicine? eg I feel that homoeopathy has been good for me for other niggly things re conception and pregnancy, so might be worth a try for nausea.

Can't think of anything else for now. Will have to go back to doing some work rather than posting on MN!)

maazaa · 21/07/2006 16:23

hello ladies

Gosh I'm fat, belly getting the way of everything!! Sorry you feel so poor flowertot - i can totally sympathise. Nothing much has worked for me other than being horizontal much of the time and eating what i fancy and when. Been a little better, possibly, in the last few days.

We put in an offer for our first house and it was accepted! Hurrah! So I'm driving for an hour to meet DH after his footie for a meal out. Madness, but I really fancy the food they do - so must give the baby what it wants!!!

Sorry you've had a rubbish week Baby D. I hope it all gets resolved soon. Are you having a break this summer? Am lucky being teacher as having six weeks ahead to get over being pg!

Had forgotten Uki that your seasons are opposite! Yikes! When you say hot in Feb, how hot will it be?

peachygirl · 21/07/2006 18:50

Hi all , welcome to new ladies if I haven't said it before.
I've had a couple of really bad days a combination of a relatively lateish night on wed (I had a meeting in central london and got on a 9pm train home) general end of term tiredness, not helped by sleeping badly, the heat ... just feeling rough, I'm getting very hungry mid morning and although I ususally eat something like a cereal bar I don't tend to feel better. roll on tuesday for the summer hols. The kids have been loopy and I'm in the middle of moving classrooms!! I''m hoping to sleep for much of the weekend!

peachygirl · 21/07/2006 18:56

O the clothes front I've bought a couple of bits. It's quite good the empire style is in as it give plenty of room for expansion. I'm quite small (petite even) and am dreading the day when I have to buy real maternity stuff. I recently got a dress in new look and two skirts in M and S, with elasticated waists as I realised none of my other summer skirts will fit me. I'm off the USA on the 14th august so and keen to look vaguely presentable.
have good weekend everyone

suzi2 · 21/07/2006 20:54

Can't remember who asked (too lazy to scroll lol!) but I love my doppler. I found DS as 9+5 and this one at 8+6 faintly and today (9+2) clearly. There is a knack to it and you need to work slowly, but I've never had a problem. I think one of the differences is that with your own, you can spend 20 mins analysing every little gurgle. And if you hear it very faintly in the background you can home in on it. Your midwife will probably only try for a couple of minutes and then give up. Incidentally, my midwife often struggled with DS and on a couple of occasions I took her doppler off her and found him for her!

Clothes wise I've just moved up to the "on ym way back down" trousers after having DS. I have bought a few new matty trousers from the Next Outlet sale - 2 pairs at £5, one at £2.99. One I know will fit as it's the jeans I already have. the other two might be a hit or miss but at those prices I couldn't miss out.

teabags · 21/07/2006 21:03

where did you get your doppler from Suzi? I'm bamboozled by all the different brands!

Having a v crap day, v teary, v tired....tomorrow's another day!

suzi2 · 21/07/2006 21:09

I got mine off ebay from a bloke called "dopplermike". Fab guy, really helpful, gave me loads of tips and I know of others that have called him for phone help! not sure if he still sells on there. My doppler is a Babywatcher - greeny colour with LCD display. Display is fab and worth getting. At the time (18 months ago) I paid £70 inc delivery.

teabags · 21/07/2006 21:16

ok thanks!

titchy77 · 22/07/2006 09:07

Tea bags sorry i havent been online for a while, i got my doppler from ebay it cost £55 and its a very good!!

teabags · 22/07/2006 13:44

thanks titchy and suzi , I've got one from Ebay!

Do you have to use the gel with it or will it work without?

Hope you're all well

suzi2 · 22/07/2006 18:02

You need to use the gel - don't scrimp on it, use a good blob on your tummy rather than blobbing it on the 'wand'. If you run out, KY Jelly makes a good alternative!

Make sure and look for the heartbeat low down. With DS, I was surprised just how near my pubic bone I found it. This time it's further up - probably due to lack of tummy muscle holding things in!

hairycaterpillar · 22/07/2006 19:13

Hi folks hope all are well and coping with heat/sickness/tiredness/all other early pregnancy woes!

I can at last feel that hard bump rising out of my pelvis...seems much earlier than with ds/dd...but I guess i've no tummy muscles left to keep it all tucked in!! Either that or it's twins (didnt laugh when dh suggested this option)!

I had carpal tunnel syndrome with both my prev pg's and i seem to be getting the symptoms back already which seems very early. Has anyone else had CTS?

suzi2 · 22/07/2006 20:55

lol HC - that is early! I'm due around the 21st so not far off you I don't think and haven't the slightest firm bit in my tummy yet. This is my second.

Perhaps it is twins eh?? Mind you, I had loads of dreams about this little one being twins and was so pleased when the scan only revealed one. I always thought twins would be lovely but don't fancy twins and a 18 month old!

julezboo · 23/07/2006 08:11

Hey ladies!

Can I join in with you all? Im currently 9+3! My name is Julie and Im 24, this is my 7th pregnancy but sadly I only have one living Child, hes called Matthew and is 4 yrs old! Me and dp have had 3 losses since Dec 06.

Im am now on heparin injections daily, aspirin my multivits, monitering my bp (I had severe pre eclampsia with ds and was awful after birth ended up in a coma, he was born at 31 weeks weighing 2lb!

Im doing ok, I have had a heamatoma bleed since week 6 - but apart from two other minor red bleeds, its mostly old blood thankfully! My symptoms vary from day to day, but mostly my sickness, if I get too hungry I throw up! Oh and Im a hormonal wreck haha, porr dp, ds and mil!

anyway I hope to join in a bit more over here, my EDD is Feb 22!

lots of love

Julie 9+3

Tommy · 23/07/2006 18:50

Hi Julez - we're due on the same day

hairycaterpillar · 23/07/2006 19:18

Welcome and congratulations Julez. It must be quite an anxious time for you and dp, really hope this time all goes well and Matthew will soon have a wee brother or sister.

TuttiFrutti · 23/07/2006 20:03

A lady in our village who I hardly know came up to me this morning and said "So, when is it due?" This is obviously a sign that I have gone past the "she could be pregnant or she could just be a bit fat" to the "no question, she's pregnant" stage. I shouldn't really be surprised when I look in the mirror, but at only 10 weeks I was clinging onto the hope that it wasn't yet that obvious!
