Here we go again....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sultanajo · 18/06/2013 12:38

I have taken myself off facebook for now because I want to tell people myself and not have people announce it for me.....

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 12:39

Thanks, I think I will do some version of it. My sister is the opposite of sickly so I'll get her to check is not too vomit worthy before posting! I don't think I'd put anything on Facebook if it wasn't for the fact I have family and friends all over the world, close family are coming to the uk for my uncles 50th at the beginning of August so I can tell them then but I don't want any of the extended family getting upset I didn't tell them! And DH had lived all over the uk and in Germany because of his work so he's got friends everywhere!

Sultanajo · 18/06/2013 12:45

I totally get it mrsg. Luckily most of our family have just been over from abroad so were able to tell them face to face. Grin

BuntCadger · 18/06/2013 13:00

Choc, I'm on 4th preg now and starting to look chubby on the tummy. Interesting for those on 3rd, consultant said 3rd deliveries are usually the easiest and quickest... I then said so what about 4th? And he said that more chance of baby being in awkward position :-/

Frizz1986 · 18/06/2013 13:01

Yay congrats for all the scans. So nice that you have had reassurance and you can be more excited now.

mrs with regards to fb I will be announcing after an and after I have personally called family and told friends. I am a keen baker so will be putting a photo up of a bun in my oven with a sign on it saying Jan 2014. Seemed appropriate for me and there is no way I can tell everyone I want my news without the assistance of fb.

I really want to start blaming baby for everything now. My boss came over today to let me know I need to be careful as I had priced a job as £40 instead of £400. Oops! Thankfully the customer noticed and actually advised my boss that they had been charged to little. I know being pg is no excuse but it's hard to concentrate sometimes when u feel sick and have an awful taste in your mouth. Boss has never had kids so i don't think she understands the distraction of all the symptoms and the stretching inside!

Frizz1986 · 18/06/2013 13:02

That should have said announcing after scan (stupid phone)

BuntCadger · 18/06/2013 13:07

Frizz, that's a lovely way to announce it :) I'm trying to think of clever way to do same, but mind is mush.

Can someone link stats thread, as now I have seen baby I'm more confident to actually join :))

Edd 14-1-14 baby 4. (2xDS 13&5 and DD 19m)

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 13:25

Frizz thats a really nice idea :)

Bunt there are so many ideas on pinterest!

I am slightly worried that people will put it on Facebook before I have a chance to tell everyone I want to tell in person. Telling everyone to keep it quiet until we mention it online.

Penny31 · 18/06/2013 13:36

I hate big announcements, I'm letting my parents tell their brothers and sisters because they are bursting to tell them. I will send a scan pic to my cousins and most of my close friends know already. I am dreading announcing it at work. I hate a fuss!

Mythreeknights · 18/06/2013 13:43

Hi all, just checking onto this thread. Congratulations toall happy scanners esp Mrsv and 4. I can't remember everyone's news and questions apart from two things, hot milk (i love the name! only discovered post delivery of ds1 when my boobs were very pamela Anderson esque and FULL of hot milk so i thought it a v appropriate name). secondly this is my third pg and (9 weeks) still in normal clothes but feel the weight is going on ALL over rather than growing s nice round bump. Especially waist, hips and arms. Am on a train so can't scroll, but sympathies to co

Wanted to also ask Gabbi how u are getting on?

Bluecarrot · 18/06/2013 14:04

Mrs gsr - I'm not married and would not be offended. Better than those Cringey ones of the mum with was down the loo and the dad grinning in the foreground, with text to side saying " guess what we are expecting?!"

I announced it to dp with the text " the -< surname> family are extending by two feet. Est completion January 2014."

It's a bit cheesy but would maybe use it for announcement to others too. By card in the post. Cause I can't cope with attention!

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 14:13

I was going to announce it to my mil by giving her a framed scan photo, but I couldn't wait that long!

BuntCadger · 18/06/2013 14:29

I don't mind the attention Grin lol. This is very likely out last pregnancy and going to make most of it (well the good bits anyhow). I got married when I was preg with DD so had attention overload. This time tho, most people will be, again?! I've already been asked by a few people I've told... 'So is this a good thing? Are you happy?' Wtf! Of course I'm delighted else I wouldn't be sharing such amazing news. But it appears as this is adding to our brood its ok to imply its unwanted/unplanned.

MrsVDB · 18/06/2013 14:42

humpty I was never sick but was very nauseous, sore boobs, knackered, etc but this all just went at 6+4 which is why I was so worried!!

4athome that's amazing news! Congratulations! Due date buddies!!

enormouse we are thinking of going to Thailand but nothing booked yet as don't know if its a good idea

Mythreeknights · 18/06/2013 15:01

burnt i know how you feel...like having more than two kids is 'greedy' (perceived by some) and everyone i have told so far has asked 1. was it planned (eg are you mental, who would want three of the little horrors?) 2. have you told your dh? (as if i would be telling anyone before him anyhow!!)

TobyLerone · 18/06/2013 15:41

I'm with you, Penny. Big announcements make me shudder. I really hate them. I'm really not telling many people. Definitely not doing a FB thing. Anyone I care that much about I'll see at some point anyway and then they'll know! FB acquaintances will see a pg photo at some point, or a photo of the baby. My friend managed to keep everything about her pregnancy off FB until she posted a photo of her huge belly about a week before her due date. It was amazing. I'd love to be able to do that!

I saw my mum today and she was already trying to make me choose a pram (which she wants to pay for, which sounds nice but just means I don't get to say "I hate that!" when she suggests something) and nagging me about whether we're going to put the house on the market and move now.

enjoyingscience · 18/06/2013 15:56

Yay! Congrats on the lovely scans news and relief all round :)

Not sure about fb. There's a lot of people I would want to know, who because of distance (we live 300 miles away from family and most of our friends) are probably likely to find out that way. I just CBA with a big announcement though! Probably will just write a little 'I'm up the duff' status. I'm such a technophobe I hardly ever post on it, so people won't expect much.

Poor DS has been throwing up all morning and much of last night, so any nausea I feel today is a lot more ominous than normal. Fingers crossed I escape his lurgi.

curlywurlyllass · 18/06/2013 16:00

Congratulations on those happy scans!

Ive too have been thinking about a quirky way of telling people. since we found out our news on return from a family holiday i think i will say to them "not going on holiday with you lot again..... 10 of us went, 11 of us came back!"
It might take some of them a while to work it out lol
Might put a similar post on fb, but might not say anything there. My 2nd cousin's son was born sleeping 2 years ago and its still very raw for her and that side of my family so will need to b sensitive for them

Love some of your thoughts on announcements!!

sarahleanne · 18/06/2013 16:09

Had my scan this morning , all ok and babies bouncing, just the one thank god!! They put my date forward a week so I'm now 10+1 and due on 13th jan if anyone would like to change my edd, I can't do it on my phone.

Choc- this is my 3rd baby and I'm getting big already , I hate that inbetween stage where you don't look pregnant but you just look chubby.

Got told by the hairdresser yesterday that I didn't look old enough to have 3 kids , and she gasped in the mirror when I told her my age, how bloody rude. I actually said well I work and my husband works so I don't see a problem, and then wondered why the hell I was trying to justify myself to a total stranger !!!!

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 16:17

Glad your scan went well sarah :)
Some people are so rude!

TobyLerone · 18/06/2013 16:34

Was she being rude or trying to compliment you, sarah? Good news on the scan, btw :o

4athomeand1cooking · 18/06/2013 16:49

Thank you so much to all of you for your well wishes.

Bunt and Mythree so with you on that. People think we are mad. I have been lectured on the use of contraception on numerous occasions, the most offensive, just after I gave birth to DS4 and the discharging nurse asked me if I had "learnt my lesson" and "did she really need to do the contraception talk". I get the funny ones like "have you got a TV" but I just say "yes it's on my bedroom ceiling"

Bunt my 4th was by far the easiest. He practically slid out Grin although so was three so I hope to have five in my sleep and wake up and say "oh I have given birth" Grin

I think any way you choose to announce your baby news is lovely. It's one of the few times that you can be fully self-obsorbed and do it your own way.

sarahleanne · 18/06/2013 16:53

No I'm only 24 so I think she was being a bit bitchy, stupid woman haha

Sultanajo · 18/06/2013 17:23

Yeay great news on your scan Sarah! Ignore bitchy idiots! They are just jealous!!!

Toby I am with you - would love to shock the world on FB a week before am due.... I hardly ever post on there anyway and to be honest since I have been off it it has been a relief not to have to keep checking to see what everyone is up to. I feel free! Lol!

Love that idea curly "went away as 10 and came back as 11"! My mate told me by saying "there are three of us in this room" and my first thought was "OMG it's haunted!" Grin She patiently waited until the penny dropped (a bit like Joey in friends - it too a while) and then she had to clamp a hand over my mouth as I couldn't help shrieking in excitement! She was trying to keep it quiet!!!

Well, after the most shocking shite day at work where I ended up in the toilet in tears this afternoon thinking "what's the fecking point - I am only one person, I can't physically do any more than I am and things still cock up" I am going to snuggle on the sofa and feel sorry for myself while trying not to heave! Bought some ready salted crisps yesterday as that is what got me through the party on Sunday, but low and behold today I can't face them. Fecks sake! Looks like July is gonna be unbelieveably hectic at work with loads of people off and me trying to do everything and tons of unplanned overtime. Just hoping I feel less like vomming by then! Pity party over! Blush
