Nice to see you ladies have had nice scans and getting ready to announce!

I would like to have small huff at being told by my very dear friend that I'm not allowed to run in my condition. I only broke into a trot to catch up with her In the car park FFS! I think once I announce at work there will be increased incidence of me telling well meaning people where they can stick it...

And I'd like to thank peapod for the maternity clothes tip. My trousers from Gap arrived in the post and they are a revelation! They are so comfy and material despite being an easy care synthetic feels quite nice. Very generous on the thighs too. Can't all office clothes be like this?

extracrunchy · 18/06/2013 19:06

Toothfairy Gap were lifesavers for me last time - glad they work for you too!

Sarah - ignore the hairdresser idiot. Some people...

Congrats to all the lovely scans today!!

I've had some spotting the last few days, so booked for a private one tomorrow. Fingers crossed...

DS is also poorly today so pretty crap day all round Confused

chocoloulou33 · 18/06/2013 19:23

Hi everyone, HUGE congrats on all the scans 2day :) all very good news so that's lovely to hear!
chocoholic oh no another poorly choco like me! Hope u feel better soon xx I've only vommed twice 2day so that's a big improvement on yestrday & also managed a full day at work xx

Yonionekanobe · 18/06/2013 19:24

Fabulous to hear all the scan news! Especially MrsV after the worries.

Thanks for all the holiday good wishes. Off soon!

My scan went well, although I am now technically an imposter on this thread as due date revised to 30 December.

Have a wonderful few weeks and I look forward to hearing all your news!

Sultanajo · 18/06/2013 19:28

extra fingers crossed its nothing to worry about! Will keep everything crossed for you for tomorrow!

yoni so pleased for you! Now you can relax and enjoy your hols! Grin

LittlePeaPod · 18/06/2013 19:48

Congratulations to all the fantastic scan news. MrsV I am so delighted for you, it's fantastic.

Hope everyone still feeling pants starts feeling better soon. I seem to have taken a step back on that front this week. Also have my first MW appointment next week from the trail NHS system which provides a one to one MW service from your home and they see you as often as you want them too. It will be interesting having two MWs. Feel a bit greedy..

Sultanajo that's exactly what DF and I are doing. Thought we would put a picture on FB of chickpea (not the scan) when he/she is about a week old. People will have heart failure as no one ever expected me to have children.... Lol. Always been a workaholic and never got broody till this January when we first started ttc. How are you feeling? Hopefully a little better than the other day. Sorry to hear about your pants day. Stressful under normal circumstances but even worse when you feel sick and tired anyway..

Tooth you are welcome.. Smile. Ohhh people telling you what to do and not to do.. Annoying.. My close friend (no kids never been pregnant) rang me up a week after finding out and said "you should not be going on a long haul flight to get married in September. I thought and when did you get a MW qualification What if the food makes you ill? What are the hospital facilities like? What if you give birth etc. etc. etc." I know it was well intended but I felt like saying "feck off I have spoken to MW and doctor and they are fine with me going". It really irritated me... Angry

Extra sorry to hear that. Good luck for tomorrow. Flowers

With regards announcements we have decided not to tell anyone expect those that now know (very close friends, family and work-only those that need to know). Everyone is sworn to secrecy and I trust them not to say anything. Plus they would only tell each other anyway. We are just going to wait and see what people say as bump gets bigger.. Grin. With regards work, i am planning on hiding bump till after the wedding in September hopefully and then go into work with something that totally shows bump off first day back... If I have a decent sized bump otherwise I will wait a bit longer. Walk in, sit at my desk, not say anything and just carry on like normal... Grin

pod so sorry you have taken a step back! Its unbelievable isnt it! How exciting about your second midwife! Thats really awesome and how reassuring! You will have to let us know how you get on. Grin

What an awesome idea about work! Would love to see their faces when you walk in all non-chalantly! Grin One of my friends told me by revealing her bump, which she had covered sneakily with a long scarf up to that point! I was totally shocked. Thats the sort of thing I want to do with a few friends, but am sure I will see them soon and wont be able to keep it from them.....Hmm

TobyLerone · 18/06/2013 20:26

I was 5 months with DC2 when I told work. It was winter, so big jumpers!

LittlePeaPod · 18/06/2013 20:31

Sultanajo I can't wait to see their faces... Ha ha ha. I would struggle with close friends as 1) they would guess as I love a few glasses of wine normally and 2) I think I would burst...

Toby great idea.. By the time i am back at work post wedding, it will be October so it may be cold then so I could get away with some jumpers... Great tip Grin

I am already in bed feel drained today, maybe cus of the anticipation of the scan this morning!!

Night everyone

GL for tomorrow extra and anyone else having scans in the next few days.

Penny31 · 18/06/2013 21:31

Phew what a crazy day. Think I've managed to tell my whole huge family now and I'm shattered. I sends a lot of them a text with a scan pic and then they rang. It's lovely how excite everyone is.

Great news from others who have had scans today and best of luck to those with them over the next few days.

So I'm 13+4 and my nuchal fold test was 2.2mm which seems quite high? I'm now panicking about the downs results. They said they will let me know by Thursday if its high risk. When will we stop worrying and start enjoying this!!??

omama · 18/06/2013 21:39

Ladies am having a little panic....

Just went to the loo & there was a tiny bit of brown blood/discharge (sorry tmi) when i wiped. Am now having a wee bit of tummy ache/cramps but don't know if I'm worrying myself into imagining symptoms or if they are real.Confused

it took 15 cycles of trying for us to get this lil bean, & am 10+5 today, i can't lose it now. Sad

Keep everything crossed for me that things dont get worse overnight.

Penny31 · 18/06/2013 21:45

omama try not to worry, it is normal to get a bit of brown discharge. Brown is old blood I think so not a major worry. If you are still worried in the morning, go to the EPU and they will give you a scan for reassurance.

LittlePeaPod · 18/06/2013 21:51

Omama really sorry you are worrying but Penny is right brown is old blood. FX it disappears soon but if you are worried call your MW or EPU. There have been lots of ladies that have had brown spotting on the thread and everything turned out alright...

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 18/06/2013 22:11

Evening all. After a day of fear because I wasn't feeling so nauseous on the way into work, I felt DREADFUL on the way home Grin. It's perverse to find that reassuring, I know.
Booking-in in the morning, am v excited/nervous.

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 22:12

Thinking of everyone who's having scans over the next few days and those who are spotting, fx is nothing, but it's so another worry you don't need!

MrsAVB · 18/06/2013 22:22

Congrats on lovely scans everyone! How exciting! sultana we are scan buddies on Friday! I can't believe it's finally time for me to see the bean! And then telling people!
Commiserations to my vom buddies. The three days non-vom seems to have totally changed my vom pattern from 3/4/5/6 average sized voms mainly in the morning to one massive vom after dinner of my entire stomach contents the last couple of days. Nice.
Thanks for the hair removal advice - I think I will have to go for a trim and buy a less revealing swimming costume!
I am hoping to avoid a Facebook announcement. I don't really want any of my scan pics online and would rather just tell people as I see them...
Sweet dreams ladies x

chocoloulou33 · 18/06/2013 22:46

omama hope ur ok hun. I had brown spotting at 6 weeks & also got into a panic but was fine. Let us know how ur in morning xx

MrsVDB · 19/06/2013 06:41

Talking of announcements, have you seen those awful we're prego ones where they are holding a jar of sauce?! Yeah it says 'prego' but that's just awful!!

Sultanajo · 19/06/2013 07:02

Penny it's so hard isn't it! My nuchal read 2.0mm and overall results were low risk thankfully! I am 35. Deep breaths - not long until Thursaday (although I bet it feels like an eternity!!!)

omama how are you this morning? Brown blood is old blood - the doctor at the EPU said it can be from as long as two weeks ago. However, you should monitor it and if you experience pain with it or are just worried I would contact your midwife for some reassurance....

Humpty I know exactly what you mean about being reassured by feeling like shite! I am sure I am going to freak out when this nausea finally lifts!

MrsAVB my scan buddy!!! Grin I bet you are mega excited! Poor you with your mega vom now. It's just so rough! What time is your scan?

Extra and anyone else with scans today - good luck! xxx

LittlePeaPod · 19/06/2013 07:13

Omama hope the spotting has stopped.

Extra, MrsAVN and anyone else good luck with the scans today

Humpty enjoy the booking in.

Sultanajo & Penny how does the 2mm and 2.2mm results work. Sorry to sound dim but what does that mean? I am 37 and dreading scans next week. Also dreading blood results for Edwards and Patua.....

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 19/06/2013 07:50

Ugh, I know what you mean about the tests. I'm panicking already. My scan is next Thursday. It should have been today until I put it back.

Hope the spotting has settled down, omama.

Good luck with scans, whoever has them today!

I have a real muscular-type pulling pain in my left side, where my hipbone is. It's driving me nuts!

MrsVDB · 19/06/2013 08:09

Good luck everyone with scans today :)

LittlePeaPod · 19/06/2013 08:09

Toby my main tests/scan s next Thursday too. Thanks for sharing that muscular pulling thing. I have it on my right side just above my hip bone. Hoping its te baby growing. Also I had some lower back pain yesterday.

Vatta · 19/06/2013 08:21

LittlePeaPod - after your scan they'll give you a risk rating for downs, which depends partly on the NT measurement but also on various other factors. The NT scan by itself can't tell you the risk, so it's probably best just to wait for the full results.
