Here we go again....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well, MrsG, you can now tell them that according to the NHS there is no evidence to support their sales pitch view :o

farmersdaughter · 18/06/2013 11:07

Mrsv woohoooooo Thanks

Vatta · 18/06/2013 11:08

Ok can't get hold of my lead midwife but after various calls to maternity helplines, some rather frantic googling, and a nice calming call with my mum, I've worked out that if I wasn't pregnant I'd be due for my period right now - apparently light trace bleeding at the time you would have had a period is fairly common.

I've been told to keep an eye on it - if it gets heavier, there are any clots, or I get abdominal pain I have to go to a&e or epu. If it stays just light spotting then I'm supposed to stay calm and not worry (am trying!).

Thanks all for your advice above, I really wasn't sure if I was being loony for worrying about it.

Vatta · 18/06/2013 11:09

And well done MrsV, great news!

Bluecarrot · 18/06/2013 11:10

Can anyone interpret this bit of my scan? Baby was in awkward position for scan so midwife said its hard to get accurate size readings.

One pic says 11wk 4d 75.4% and another says 11wk 1d 34%. Are the percentages to do with accuracy? I thought on scan day I was 11wk exactly.

As for bras, I used to work for a large online lingerie company. The most popular bras were Emma Jane, then Elle macpherson (though have size restrictions) and hot milk was new just as I was leaving, but I was impressed with the ones I saw. I plan to order lots an pretend I can afford to keep them all. ;)

Bluecarrot · 18/06/2013 11:13

Toby - Pmsl at "squidgy of torso" in that link.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 18/06/2013 11:17

MrsAVB I don't do waxing/creams etc, just a trim normally, but I'm sure the advice is: waxing hurts, hair removal creams are a no (?) and therefore it's epilation/lasers/shaving or jungle. Good choices, no?!

Yoni have a fab trip - how exciting!

loulou I'm so sorry - I really hope things start to improve in the next few days.

sultana I sleep on my side naturally - have you tried having something to 'hug' (a pillow/DH/duvet) - it keeps me balanced, somehow. Also a good mattress helps.

MrsV SO glad for you! Hurrah! I was worrying all morning, now I can relax. Phew!

Everyone else, I am rubbish and cannot remember anything for more than two seconds. I hope you are all well and happy!

I am much less nauseous today - only a bit sick feeling on Tube. Now of course, I am panicking that something is wrong. Hmm Someone hand me a grip. I have my booking-in tomorrow - do they check hb there (if you ask?) perhaps? I hope so! I might cave and go private if not. Somehow the worry has really kicked in today. Maybe cos it all feels more real now it's 10+4!

Vatta · 18/06/2013 11:28

Humpty they didn't check hb at my booking in, I think somebody said on another thread there was a concern about using the Doppler to check heartbeat too early in case the heat it generates causes a problem for the baby.

So it's either waiting till the 12 week scan or going private I think (although like everything else in the nhs they may do it differently in your area)

Naturegirl82 · 18/06/2013 11:30

Humpty I thought we couldn't have laser when pg. Something to do with skin reacting differently and could cause permanent damage. Whenever I go for laser treatment they always ask if I'm pg so assume that must be for a reason. I'm gutted we can't, means I'm going to turn into a hairy monster! Blush

chocoholicalcoholic · 18/06/2013 11:32

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd come out of hiding, have been lurking on and off to see how you're all doing. Sorry to see a few ladies leave, if you're lurking I hope you are all doing ok.

Sorry to hear you are struggling choco I hope you start to improve soon. I'm still chucking most days and have constant nausea still. Not fun throwing up in the night either, you have my sympathies.

I'm pleased so many of you have had happy scans, very jealous of you all. My first scan is next Tues which will be 13 weeks. Cannot actually wait now - time is going sooo slowly!

Those of you on third pregnancies, how many of you are showing? I feel like I look 4/5 months already!

Really can't wait to be able to enjoy food again. I'm running out of foods that I haven't thrown up or just completely gone off. Baby is going to come out looking like a mixture between a chip butty and gravy and mash if I'm not careful!

Have a good day all :)

chocoholicalcoholic · 18/06/2013 11:48

sultana in previous pregnancies I have stuffed extra pillows around me. One at my back, one under bump and one between knees when bigger and it helped most of the time. I did occasionally find myself flat on my back in the middle of the night and once I woke up to find myself splat on my front (at about 5 months) totally freaked cause thought I'd squashed the baby, but all was fine!! You'll find as you get bigger you can't really move and if you do it wakes you anyway, so you'll know what position you're getting yourself into.

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 12:00

chocoholicalcoholic sorry to hear your still being sick!

I had really bad back ache during the first few weeks (seems to have faded for now!) and putting a pillow between my knees when lying on my side really helped :)

As we're coming up to 12 weeks, is anyone going to do a pregnancy announcement? I'm telling close friends and family first but was thinking of putting something on facebook on our wedding anniversary (we'll be 17 weeks) but I want to keep our scans private. I saw some cute idea on pinterest, I'm leaning toward the rhyme 'First comes love, second comes marriage...' across a picture of me and DH when we first got together, followed by a picture of our rings from our wedding day and then a picture of our shoes by the back door with our dates of birth written in chalk next to them and some baby shoes with 'January 2014'.

But, possibly due to being hormonal, I began to worry yesterday that it would look like I'm judging people who have kids before getting married? Am I being silly or do you think people will be offended?

MrsVDB · 18/06/2013 12:01

humpty I'm proof no symptoms is fine!! So try not to worry.

The best bump excuse is 'bump farted....'

Penny31 · 18/06/2013 12:03

Wow there really is a baby in there! Scan was amazing and I'm on cloud nine. I can't believe how lucky I am!

They have changed my EDD to wait for it......20 th of December!!! Meaning I'm 13+4 which doesn't add up to me. I need to look into it. I hope I'm still welcome here though :(

BuntCadger · 18/06/2013 12:04

Back from consultant and he's lovely. After speaking (being nagged and berated) to dietician I may be stopping 5-2. Consultant gave me a quick scan :-))) and I finally saw baby. Dates are different, makes me 10w rather than almost 12 so edd changed to 14th. Saw heartbeat and only the one baby. Thrilled to of seen it as was starting to wonder if I was imagining it all! Lol xxx

4athomeand1cooking · 18/06/2013 12:05

MrsV that makes two of us.

Scan thus morning puts me back at 8+3 with a very strong HB

I was so sure it was over

TobyLerone · 18/06/2013 12:07

MrsG, I certainly wouldn't be offended by that. I would think it was a bit sickly if I saw it on my news feed, if I'm honest, but I'm sure lots of people will think it's cute.

Congrats, penny! Of course you're still welcome :o

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 12:10

Yay for all the scans! Penny of course your still welcome :)
Bunt I'm glad you finally got to see baby!
4athome Really happy for you :)
It's all getting so real and exciting!

TobyLerone · 18/06/2013 12:11

Excellent news, 4athome :)

MrsGSR · 18/06/2013 12:12

Toby it is very sickly! Separately me and DH are not at all cutesy, but for some reason together we make people want to throw up!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 18/06/2013 12:19

penny and MrsV and 4athome and Bunt
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! This is EXCELLENT news!
MrsV did your symptoms stop, or did you just not have any? God, I just know I'm gonna cave and get a private scan at this rate...

choco sorry you're still pukey. Hope the gravy and mash help!

MrsG agreed - a bit sickly, but otherwise fine. You are allowed to say the order you've done it in (and if people get offended, stuff 'em!) - you're not saying any other order is wrong...

Sultanajo · 18/06/2013 12:27

Yeay mrsv 4athome penny & bunt awesome scan news!!! Woop woop!

Thanks for the sleeping tips - I tried hugging things but got too hot, so hoping the dreamgenii is going to be the compromise....Grin

enormouse · 18/06/2013 12:27

I like the shoes idea MrsGSR. I wouldn't do it myself as I'm really private and fb irks me. But it's a sweet and novel alternative to scans.

It's lovely to hear everyone's news btw. I'm having trouble remembering it all though by the time I scroll down. Am feeling a bit less sicky today but generally can't eat till early afternoon.

Am in the process of applying for the toddler's first passport and booking a family trip away (most likely to Edinburgh). Is anyone planning on having a pre New baby holiday/babymoon?
(My bump brain is terrible btw - I temporarily forgot my own sons middle names and one of them is my surname)

Sultanajo · 18/06/2013 12:30

mrsg its very sickly but actually brought a tear to my eye! Stupid hormones!!!Blush

choco sorry u r still rough. It feels like its never gonna end doesnt it?

humpty! arghhh! I was determined not to have any scans before 12 weeks and ended up with 4, so I certainly cant talk u out of caving. It saved my sanity!!! Blush

TobyLerone · 18/06/2013 12:33

I won't be doing a fb announcement. I've asked everyone else to keep it quiet too.
