New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Good luck AmI. And stay put baby!

I watch The Boy with Striped Pyjamas the week before giving birth. I sobbed a lot!

Amy actually settled in her Moses basket without the huge battle last night. There was a battle, but not as severe! Hopefully getting somewhere now. We are going to start putting her in it during the day too so I get freed up for when DH is working. So far it's been cuddle central. :-)

And in other news, my nipples are recovering a bit now, but by god that initial latch makes me want to scream!

ami - always a pain when appts are pm. the morning always drags.
off to the Dentist with dp in about an hour - if they actually do anything I'm pretty sure you'll all hear his screams!!

house looking more sane now, and Violet and I are both clean and dressed. feel much more settled when the house feels tidy and clean, altho I am my own worse enemy at putting that first.

mrsbri - that initial latch does settle - I was the same until a few days ago, thinner had the wonky boob issue but now it's all settled much better. so hope yours does too!

Everyone says the notebook is a tear jerker just in case the other films don't work! for me it would be Fox and the hound gets me every time.

Haven't been able to express at all today is complete agony so off to the doctor at 3.30pm Sad

Have been combi feeding the last couple of days so she's taking formula fine so well see what the doctor has to say

AlohaMama · 01/07/2013 17:03

So sorry to hear you're having such a hard tine with it pink, hope the dr can help.

Boy in striped pyjamas + hormones sounds like a terrible combination. I'd be crying for days.

pinkapples · 01/07/2013 17:26

Back from the doctor had canesten thrush cream for a fungal infection in my nipples (ouchy) and some iron tablets for anemia doctor said not to express for a week so baby has a week on formula then nips should be back to normal and I can express again although not looking forward to a week of painful boobs while they fill Sad but if it gets me sorted ill cope

learnermummy · 01/07/2013 17:30

Oh pink I feel for you as I suffered nipple thrush first time around and it's awful. Did they give you treatment for baby's mouth too? Might be worth calling breastfeeding expert to get advice on how best to proceed with feeding while healing so you don't lose supply. Are shields any help?

pinkapples · 01/07/2013 17:39

No didn't get anything for baby doctor said it was a fungal infection he didn't seem to have any concerns about supply and said after a week I should be able to express and it would be ok

learnermummy · 01/07/2013 17:53

Hmmm am not expert but suspect baby will reinfect you if not treated, that is if you are breastfeeding and not just expressing. Worry how your boobs will cope with no feeding or expressing for a week Hmm poor you. Was nearly enough to make me give up before.

pinkapples, have a look at this link
www.llli.org/faq/thrush.html

pinkapples · 01/07/2013 20:27

Thanks for the link was worth a read Grin no I am exclusively expressing so she's fine

I've decided to pump once in the morning and once in the evening since they will fill up and be sore then put the cream on in the day although not sure how it can be thrush but the website sounds very much like it is

learnermummy · 01/07/2013 20:32

Were either of you on antibiotics after delivery? Think that's usually the cause. Hope things get better for you soon x

RueDeWakening · 01/07/2013 21:45

Pink - I had thrush (think I now have it again in my ducts, ouchy!), there's stuff you need to do re breast pumps and thrush to make sure they're infection free too. I was told to boil everything for 10 minutes then sterilise as normal, and replace all parts that can't be boiled. Also make sure you're changing breast pads frequently and hot washing bras/tops etc.

I don't think you should stop expressing completely though, I was told to feed through it. In fact I've just seen you're going to express every day so yay! If you can bear it, try and make one of the expressings in the middle of the night around 3am, it's when your hormones are sloshing around the most so does most good in terms of keeping up supply apparently.

pinkapples · 01/07/2013 21:53

Thanks rue yea decided to pump through it so hopefully that will b ok and it means baby can still have some breast milk Grin

No no antibiotics learner not sure where its come from

pinkapples · 01/07/2013 22:40

Just lost quite a lot of fresh red blood... Hmmm just when things were looking up Hmm

pinkapples · 02/07/2013 02:06

Does anyone know who I'm meant to phone at this point as I think I should tell someone but they didn't make it very clear who now that I'm out in the world on my own (having been discharged from midwives and no health visitor visit till October)

AlohaMama · 02/07/2013 02:26

pinkapples - Sorry, can't really help as I don't know the system, but just wanted to say, hope you're ok. Even though you're officially discharged, can you not just phone the midwives anyway, then they can tell you who to speak to if they can't help?

arlandria666 · 02/07/2013 03:04

pink I would ring nhs direct is the number 111 now? hope you're okay hugs xx

pinkbear82 · 02/07/2013 03:39

have you stopped bleeding now? hope you are ok xx

pinkapples · 02/07/2013 04:51

No not stopped yet ill phone midwife in the morning I think if they can't help they'll tell me who can no doubt having a chilled day today definitely sofa for me and Theiah Grin

pinkbear82 · 02/07/2013 06:28

sounds like a good plan - hope it settles down and you get your chilled out day. let us know what the mw says x

pinkapples · 02/07/2013 07:55
