New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Hope you're ok pinkapples.

pinkapples · 02/07/2013 11:28

Thanks ladies went to the doctors she had a feel and said my womb is still a bit high bleeding should subside in a couple of days but to phone if it gets heavier and I need to make an appointment for next week to check if my womb is coming down if not I need antibiotics and a scan so fingers crossed things are ok next week and bleeding stops on its own

AmIGoingMad · 02/07/2013 12:15

Pink i'm thinking of you. This must be so frustrating. Take it as easy as you can and if you feel it getting worse/not getting better and you're not happy then don't bother waiting the week and get yourself back to the docs. Big hugs x

pinkapples · 02/07/2013 12:19

Thanks aml I'm having a sofa day today Grin Theiah's asleep in her carrycot and I'm on the sofa with a duvet and dogs ill give the iron tablets and thrush cream a couple of days and see if the bleeding lessens then try and get in by the end of the week if no improvements... This is the bit that noone tells you about

pinkbear82 · 02/07/2013 14:30

hope the sofa day and rest helps pink.

MrsBri · 02/07/2013 17:00

I hope things improve soon, pink. x

Sorry have been absent since the birth! Been overwhelmed with adoration for the wee boy plus trying to learn the ropes re feeding, changing, being responsible for tiny human. Congrats to all the new mums!
Pink, sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I thought it was normal to have bleeding for up to six weeks after the birth though? I'm certainly still getting lots of fresh blood 7 days after the birth. Is this weird?
Also, latching on pain - ouch!!!!!
X

learnermummy · 02/07/2013 19:44

Yes I bled for a full 6 weeks last time without infection. Think it varies.
Post natal glamour continues here with piles that doc this morning described as 'quite large' and 'might need surgery'!! Lets hope the suppositories do the trick!

Hope you're feeling a bit better pink.

Sunbeam18 · 02/07/2013 20:45

I've got those piles too, learner! Surgery?! God. Glamourous, isn't it?

pinkapples · 02/07/2013 21:39

God! Crying baby is getting tiring now she just will not give up

rrreow · 02/07/2013 21:43

Learner, are the suppositories just to help you go, or are they for healing the piles? Mine never really went away after pregnancy 1 and have got even worse during pregnancy 2. I've been dreading having to have them looked at but it really doesn't feel like they'll go away. Sad

For anyone having trouble expressing, Google tips for expressing. Stuff that really helped me was: darkened room, try to relax, cup of herbal tea, look at a picture of your baby. All those things help trigger a let down which makes getting any kind of volume out much easier.

DS2 will be 4 weeks on Friday and he is pretty huge! Partly to do with using cloth nappies (they're more bulky) but he looks about 1 week away from growing out of his 0-3mo clothes.

Been having a tough few days. Extremely sleep deprived which has just made me feel like everything is getting on top of me. DH super supportive both practically and emotionally which has helped. DS1 was such a breeze, am actually finding it much more challenging second time around.

rrreow · 02/07/2013 21:44

Pink, it's so tough when they cry a lot isn't it? Really drives you crazy especially as you're doing so much. It's pretty relentless.

learnermummy · 02/07/2013 21:54

They're supposed to help them heal rreow but I'm to go back in 10 days if no improvement.

My little girl is having a feeding frenzy tonight, crying every time I put her down Hmm. Choc biscuits are helping! I cope with nights by co sleeping, don't really have to wake up to feed her then! Made easier by these warm nights so can manage without duvet.

rrreow · 02/07/2013 22:17

We co-sleep learner (didn't even get a crib this time). Z has been having a hard time with wind which means his sleeping is so crap and mine too as a consequence. I did find a really helpful article on kellymom though about oversupply and forceful letdown. Following the tips from that so hoping for gradual improvement. Poor Z also seems to have his first cold, so him being bunged up also doesn't help.

RueDeWakening · 02/07/2013 22:57

Pink I think the bleeding is normal - first 2 times I bled for a full 6 weeks, this time it gave up after just less than 5 weeks (although I carried on with the protection as I didn't quite believe it had stopped...). Hope the doctor is happy with things though.

rrreow M looks like he'll grow out of his 0-3 stuff soon, he'll be 7 weeks old on Thursday. He's going to grow out of it before he's worn half of it I reckon. And I'm trying again with cloth tomorrow after he's had his 6 week measurements done - tried last week with size 1 tots bots and he leaked out of every single one in less than 2 hours, I'm going with size 2/btp flexitots and bamboozle stretchies this time so fingers crossed!

I've got a slightly poorly M with a snotty nose and a really sore bum (bloody DH "forgot" to change his nappy last night after giving him some expressed milk...). He's crying with every poo/nappy change and if nappy free you could use him as a beacon Shock but he's finally gone to sleep so fingers crossed he gets a decent length before waking up again - it's been a looooong day.

And, just because DS2 is my last baby, I've ordered a fancy Radley changing bag off ebay and just got notification that it's shipped :o let's hope it's as nice as it looked in the pictures! I've not had a "proper" changing bag with either of the others, and figured it was now or never. And I can use it as an overnight bag afterwards. You can never have enough bags, right?

AlohaMama · 03/07/2013 00:49

rrreow cloth butts make a big difference in size don't they! Even with ds at 2.2 if I put him in sposies his age 3 shorts fall down, with the cloth age 4 are a bit tight, you almost need two wardrobes.

oooh fancy bag rue!!

hope you're feeling better pink.

I'm confused now, am I supposed to be posting on this thread or the new one? Both seem to be growing strong or will this one just keep going till we run out of space then move over to the post-natal one???

MrsBri · 03/07/2013 01:04

Good luck later, AmI. :-)

I have a crying baby who insists she's hungry after 4 boobs of milk. :-/ DH is changing her in the hope of settling her. If not, it's back to me to nurse. Joy!

Steffanoid · 03/07/2013 02:13

Mrs bri sounds like you've got a bottomless pit not a baby! we've got tge night time feed down now, Ethan has boob while oh makes a bottle then goes to him while I express then by the time they're finished so am I, amazing how much longer it takes in.the day alone

MrsBri · 03/07/2013 03:16

Baby still isn't settling :-(

Not sure what we can do with her now. Nightmare.

OP posts:
AlohaMama · 03/07/2013 06:06

I'm sure at this point you've tried everything (in fact hopefully you're both asleep). If not have you tried the 5 S's - shhing, swaddling, swinging/swaying, sideways, sucking. I think that is them. Ds would never settle unless swaddled and the sideways swaying worked too. Hope you get some sleep.

AmIGoingMad · 03/07/2013 06:15

Thank you for messages- will update when I can!

pinkapples · 03/07/2013 06:58

Swaddling is working a treat for Theiah at the moment always thought it was overrated but the last couple of days it's really calmed her Grin

MrsBri · 03/07/2013 08:12

Amy isn't keen on swaddling as she's an arm waver! She just wakes herself up in her bid to escape!

But, she finally went down at about 4, so I've had a bit of sleep. Thankfully DH was helping me last night so I got more than I could have done otherwise!

Normally the other 4 Ss work a treat! :-/

OP posts:
forgetmenots · 03/07/2013 09:43

MrsBri my DS is an arm waver too (acrobat tendency!?) but if he is sleepy enough and I can get him into a swaddle he does sleep longer. It's rare though. Apparently they get stimulated by their own arms moving about as they don't realise it's them iyswim! Definitely try it if you can time it right :)

Thinking of you today AmI - looking forward to an update!

rrreow · 03/07/2013 10:25

Rue, we never got on with tots bots AIOs. I think it was to do with DS1s shape. The bamboozles work a treat though, as well as any other shaped nappy.

I totally understand your excitement on the change bag front Grin I treated myself to a babymule backpack. I'm so excited every time I use it!

Aloha oh yes I know what you mean. DS1s trousers always fall down when he's in sposies! Are you cloth bumming as well then? Imagine the laundry dries a lot quicker over there than in the UK! I get all excited about sunshine and putting the nappies outside and by the end of the day I'm running to get them in before they get rained on!

All you cloth bum mums should come join on the nappy chat thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/nappies_potty_training_etc/1723065-Nappy-Chat-3-Fluff-Between-The-Ears?reverse=1 or even if you're just considering it, we can give advice!
