New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Wow.. That's impressive. Admittedly it's only been 5 days since c section but I still look 6 months pregnant Confused

Started not feeling well last night and had a terrible episode of such terrible burning pain all over my abdomen and down my legs that my DH called the emergency number at the ward... Turns out I'm allergic to the dressings they used for my section, which in turn has allowed half my scar to re open... Which has caused a huge infection. Just great.

In other news my PIL have bought nothing for Seraphina, despite buying all baby furniture, pram, toys clothes and steriliser for BIL's baby 9 months ago.

This is a very negative post! Other than this I am head over heels in love with my beautiful baby Wink

Steffanoid · 30/06/2013 20:12

oh curious thats rubbish that you're allergic! everytime my sister has anything done she has to point out she's allergic to penicillin, and even then tgey try and give it to her, she got an infection in her section scar, dont worry it clears up and she's right as rain now, dont think she had too much pain from it

MrsBri · 30/06/2013 20:55

Poor you, Curious. I hope you feel better soon.

I too still look about 6 months' pregnant :-/ I'm decidedly unimpressed by it! I'm hoping it starts to vanish a bit quicker very soon. Surely breastfeeding has to help that?

I gained 20kg and three weeks later about 8kg has gone. My stomach has gone back down and now I'm just left with a lot of all over fat which was blatantly a result of extreme over eating. Do kind of regret that now! There was just no need for it after all.

I went to the gym yesterday... For a pedicure! But kind of wish I could get back in the gym properly soon. Maybe August!

Georgie I have a similar situation: both with the baby and with getting married my PIL have given us nothing after having apparently paid for a huge amount of stuff for all DHs siblings. It hacks me off, and him even more.

learnermummy · 30/06/2013 21:28

Congratulations babybeann and sparkle.

Think the baby blues have set in for me today. Had a bit of a moment in Tesco earlier and grumpy ever since. Just hot, bothered, fat, no clothes that fit/suitable for feeding in etc etc. urghh.

Olimoss · 30/06/2013 23:30

So scouting, nearly all the babies are here! Big congrats to all the new arrivals.

Been bit quiet on here as busy out in real life what with visitors and appts and just getting out of the hose. My NCT group are meeting every week which has been aces. I'm also out and about every day with Joe as well as still expressing three times a say.

Omg that bloody breast pump! It's currently my significant other; I spend more time with it than nearly anyone else (bar J, obv)! he's had a bit of constipation the last 24hrs, apparently v common around a month old, particularly if they've had formula. Bit of tummy massage and a drink of boiled water and I hunk he's doing better. My eye bags aren't doing better. Not enough touché éclat in the world for thos!

J loves he bath (ie: a dip in the kitchen sink every 2-3 days) which pleases me greatly. We start swimming classes in a week.

Although I was back to pre-preg weight within 2 weeks I've not really reduced much further and still have a horribly soft gut. Not good! With a new MRI showing my busted knee is even further busted from the fall I had at 28 weeks - operation guaranteed, boo - I will prob only be able to swim till all rehabbed. I see spans in my future to keep the wobbly bits in check!

J is getting cuter each day, but now he's a month old I reckon it's time for him to start giving back - I'd like a smile soon! Spent hours cooking up a mountain of cookies, muffins and cake which we took o give to the NICU and HDU staff at the hospital to say thanks for their amazing work. Nothing bpclassier than thanking health & medical professionals with the gift of clogged arteries!

Hope all the sore boibs out there get better soon...

Olimoss · 30/06/2013 23:33

*exciting. So EXCITING bout all the new babies....jeez.

  • house. Not hose.

  • day. Expressing 3 times a DAY

  • think. Not hunk, though J is a massive hunk, obv.

  • Spanx, not spans

  • BOOBS. I dont know what boibs are.

iPad kills me every time.

AlohaMama · 01/07/2013 01:16

Grin at your ipad issues oli - appreciate the translations!!

congratulations baby bean! love the name willow!!

sorry you're struggling with the bf-ing pinkapples.

georgie - sorry to hear about your infection. hope it clears up quickly.

steff - good going on the weight loss. we don't have scales here so i've no idea till my next checkup. i did notice every day for the first week my bump was noticeably smaller. but now it has stopped decreasing. i can wear normal clothes but definitely have a squidgy bit! hope the bf-ing will eventually sort that out. and maybe some exercise.

Am wondering when newborns get over their sleepy period. I can't remember from ds. After having a growth spurt with manic feeding all day yesterday, today she fed at breakfast, then slept for nearly 5 hours, fed again at lunch and is asleep again. I mean I'm quite happy for this to continue but it does make the boobs somewhat painful at times.

SunnyL · 01/07/2013 04:24

Aloha i'd like some of that milk please if it can knock babies out for 5 hours. Since DH has gone back to work we've gone from 3hr feeds to 2hr feeds. Amazing how much more tired that makes me.

Im within 5lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight but as i was cycling 1.5hrs a day, dog walking for 30mins a day and going to the gym twice a week i can reassure you i look nothing like i used to. I can go back on weight watchers at 6 weeks though so until then i'm eating what i like.

Pink sorry feeding is so tough. I often wonder if breast feeding is worth it and i'm not even sore just go through periods of resenting the time it can take. Dont feel awful if you do stop but do ask for help if you need it.

pinkapples · 01/07/2013 06:12

Thanks sunny its just such a cycle I feed Theiah put her down then express by the time I'm done she is awake and it starts again and boobs aren't getting better as every time I express they open up again hmmm this is the bit noone tells you about Grin

AmIGoingMad · 01/07/2013 06:29

Morning all!

Wow these weight loss tales are impressive! I have to admit that I've not weighed at all this pregnancy. I'm staying in denial for now!

Curious- I hope that you feel better soon. It must be awful!

Pinkapples- do whatever's right for you. I think that you've all done so well already in what you've been doing on the feeding front and don't know if I'll be that strong with it.

Have pre op this afternoon. After my panics last week, I think that if baby has flipped back and I have to go back to the uncertainty of waiting for natural delivery I might well have another meltdown.

AmIGoingMad · 01/07/2013 06:30

Those who had elcs, what happens at your pre op appt?

Babybeann · 01/07/2013 07:56

Woke up this morning and the pain!!!! Omg afterpains are a killer did anyone else get these the day after delivery? My hips and back are the worst but also my stomach everything feels really crampy.
Ive had my pain meds which seem to help with my stiches.

What helped you im still in hostital so getting comfy is impossible.

AlohaMama · 01/07/2013 08:01

Sunny - evidently it doesn't work all the time as I've just had three hours of on-off feeding. I think she must have had wind tbh as was quite fussy. By end I think she was comfort sucking but managed to swaddle her and now she's asleep. Phew.

Good luck with the pre-op am I.

Off to sleep now, guiltily looking forward to the fact that ds is with Childminder tomorrow. Maybe I'll even get a shower and a nap!!

Olimoss · 01/07/2013 08:14

AmI - good luck this morning! At my pre-ELCS appt I got blood taken, BP checked, baby on monitor for 5 mins and then sent on my way home with ranitidine and a good luck!

pinkbear82 · 01/07/2013 08:28

Hope all goes well this morning ami.

curious I hope you start feeling better soon.

t'other pink do what you feel best - you've given the best start and now must do what ever is right for you.

I brought a breast pump yesterday to try and get dp to do a evening/night feed so we'll see how that goes when I'm brave enough to try it!
not much point at the moment my dp's fear of going to the Dentist has caught up with him and he is in agony with tooth ache - off to the Dentist at lunch time with him. I fear he'll be a tooth down by time we get home again.

it was a draining night with a 3.5wk old and a dp in agony! (Violet was much easier to deal with Wink ) I probably should have a rest but the house is looking a mess and that winds me up!!

RueDeWakening · 01/07/2013 09:05

Pink - congrats on BFing so far, just take it one feed at a time. Have you got a carton or two of ready made formula in the cupboard as a back up? Totally worth it ime. Also at 6+ weeks I think we've finally cracked it and I'm all healed - got through over a tube of lansinoh in the process!

Congrats on all the new babies Grin not sure how many I've missed - if you want to show off pictures then pm me or MrsBri to join the FB group.

So who's left? AmI good luck with the preop! Anyone else?

In other news, M is now 6 weeks old and he's smiled! Not at me though, at his dad Confused so cute! And a lot quicker than his brother who took nearly 16 weeks cos of being prem. so nice, makes them seem like a person rather than an ungrateful sack of potatoes Grin

BumbleBee2011 · 01/07/2013 09:08

Congrats and welcome to the new babies!

Pinkapples - have you been seen by a healthcare provider? When I was googling regarding headaches (I know, I know, you're not supposed to Grin) I found out you can still get pre-eclampsia after the baby is born, so same symptoms as during pg (BP changes, visual disturbances etc) should be monitored really.

Curious - hope you feel better soon, that is really crap.

Had a baby blues argument with DH yesterday (he was getting cabin fever cos it was taking us too long to leave the house - despite the fact we've been out every day so far...I may have told him to stop being a dick...Confused) Anyway I burst into tears and afterwards felt a LOT better, like maybe the tension headaches have been me trying to hold the crazy hormones in! So might put on a sad DVD tonight and have a crying fest. Contenders atm are les Miserables or Brokeback Mountain (DH will be so happy Grin)...Might give the Boy in Striped Pyjamas a miss, that had me sobbing for hours last time...I'm going for just the right amount of crying.

Today I'm getting the sling out and trying to get the house back to normal - it's winding me up.

BumbleBee2011 · 01/07/2013 09:13

Ooh and AmI - good luck today, not long to go now Smile

ella0 · 01/07/2013 10:22

AmI, I had my blood pressure and bloods taken, urine sample tested, and they checked the baby's heartbeat. I was also talked through the procedure and then met the anaesthetist so he could talk me through that side of it too. I was also given tablets to take the night before/ morning of the op. It didn't take long.

SunnyL · 01/07/2013 10:32

Oh god dont do the boy in striped pajamas you'll never be able to stop crying. Do Les Mis. At least its a semi happy ending.

Ive been insisting DH sleep in the spare room so he can sleep before work but after another crap night for me he has said he's coming back to do one of the night feeds. Phew!

ella0 · 01/07/2013 10:35

Re weight, I have no idea what I've lost. I only gained weight on my bump and chest, but 4 weeks on I still have a bit of a belly :( (being pear shape I'm used to having a slim upper half, so my clothes aren't looking great).

Oil, I hate the ipad autocorrect too!

Baby, I felt my uterus contracting a few days after delivery, while breastfeeding. It wasn't painful but felt very strange!

Yay for the smile, Rue. Haha re the ungrateful sack of potatoes!

AmIGoingMad · 01/07/2013 10:36

Thanks Ella and oli! And thanks everyone for the good luck messages!Smile Appt at 2.00 and the waiting is killing me at the moment!

I hope that those who are feeling yuk feel better soon- including your dp Pinkbear- it's hard enough looking after baby without an ill dp too!

I see that I'm now officially out of June. On the plus side at least it means that she's listening to all of the stay put for now messages!Smile

ella0 · 01/07/2013 10:37

That's Oli not oil!
