Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babyiwantabump · 30/04/2013 04:51

Hey all and welcome to all newbies . Just checking in - am on night 2 of 4 night shifts and feeling increasingly sick with each one :-( meh hope everyone's ok

Gooseysgirl · 30/04/2013 05:48

Nom.. Hope your little one is on the mend soon!
I've not gained much weight yet, completely different to my last pregnancy when I almost didn't fit in to my bridesmaid dress for DSis wedding at 12 weeks. I had a vomiting bug 10 days ago (not MS as I suspected!!) and didn't eat for about 4 days after, it was awful.... I would not cope well with Hyperemisis and feel so sorry for all the ladies suffering with it. Anyway I'm over it now and definitely back on food again so I'm sure I'll be digging out the maternity jeans before too long...

MildredH · 30/04/2013 06:04

Baby- I just did my first set of nights over the weekend.. The first one was horrendous but found with number two & three I felt only slightly less horrendous than I normally would at 4am Sad. My cheese & pickle roll "lunch" repeated on me horribly though so had to beg a lovely nurse for gaviscon! I presume you're also working in hosp? Have you had any thoughts about how long you'll carry on doing nights for?

Nom- poor you. How is DS?

QuietNinjaTardis · 30/04/2013 08:13

Hi everyone.
I'm sorry you have to have surgery music, at least you'll be getting the right sort of care.
Still struggling with sickness. Going to Docs this morning to get more anti sickness meds. Got booking in later as well so that'll be fun!

babyiwantabump · 30/04/2013 08:35

Mildred - I have to carry on doing nights all the way through as I am rotational and it's part of my contract . I don't normally mind nights I think it's just the morning sickness seems to be worse when I do night shifts so far!

Doesn't help that now most of my colleagues have guessed because I'm feeling so rough! I suppose that's what you get for being a midwife! It's harder to hide it - we can smell pregnant women a mile off im sure!

Michellephant · 30/04/2013 09:22

5ammy, I can't book in with the midwife until I'm 11 weeks apparently because she has no appointments. I would chase it up today because they can be really busy and you need to see the midwife to get the appointment for your first scan.

I'm quite frustrated because I had been promised to be given plenty of care with this pregnancy. I've not even had a counselling appointment yet and it has been 6 months. Nobody has seen me in person to talk me through everything, it's all been over the telephone.

Bananas apparently help morning sickness people :D they're all I can manage to eat for my breakfast.

Out of interest did anyone do the Clearblue trial of OPKs? I did and got pregnant doing it so I have to keep sending off urine samples for another 10 days, at which point I'll have peed in 60 urine pots by then!

5ammy · 30/04/2013 11:36

Burst into tears in MK as no where sells nice maternity clothes and I'm too fat for my Levi's :-(

Hormonal (fat) pregnant woman alert.

QueenofWhispers · 30/04/2013 12:37

whats 'MK' ?

fear not, asos has a not to bad selection and so does topshop.

QueenofWhispers · 30/04/2013 12:40

www.blossommotherandchild.com/

and theres gap and HM. If you live in London I'll go maternity shopping with you. I'm a 14 too.

5ammy · 30/04/2013 13:12

MK is Milton Keynes - I'm sure I'm just getting fatter as each day goes by.

Vocalista86 · 30/04/2013 15:09

Queen that's a pricey website!! Looks nice though!

readyornot2011 · 30/04/2013 15:48

Hello all,

Music, sorry to hear about your surgery, must have been a terrible shock. I'm glad they are looking after you so well though and like you said, best to know now.

Well the PiL's visit has been much better than I feared. They have helped out loads with DD and given me lots of time to rest. I even had the house to myself for a whole afternoon, which NEVER happens.

MiL is one of her own though, took her to see a house we are seriously considering putting an offer on:
DH: the floors upstairs are really nicely done
MiL: hmmmm
Me: come on now DH you know your mother hates laminate (yes ok I was teasing)
MiL: I DO NOT hate laminate, As a matter of fact I have it in my shed!

Brilliant! Made me smile for days.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 30/04/2013 18:43

Michellephant thanks for adding me (smile)

QueenOfWhispers loving your moniker too (smile)

Anyone tried accupuncture for ms? I've heard it helps so might give it a go.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 30/04/2013 18:46

New Look have decent looking maternity clothes that are cheap and won't last longer than a season but who wants them to last any longer?

FluffyDucky · 30/04/2013 18:56

Well I had my booking in appointment today. Pretty boring but got a bounty pack with various bits in it! I'm quite pleased I call to arrange the 12 week scan, means I can arrange it on my day off.
Trying not to think about money though, especially when mini moo comes along and I'm off on maternity leave. Hoping our P60's don't take too long to come through, can then start to see what help we can get!

Penguinita · 30/04/2013 19:23

Fluffy and others that have had their booking appointments, what did you think of the bounty pack? I was pretty shocked by this article a couple of days ago that suggests the pack is just a folder full of adverts putting consumer pressure on vulnerable new mums-to-be.
www.guardian.co.uk/science/2013/apr/28/alice-roberts-pregnancy-bounty-nhs

I have my first MW appointment tomorrow, quite excited Grin Although if they take blood I will definitely faint.

2beornot · 30/04/2013 19:26

Hi ladies. Just poking my head in to day hi!!

Had anyone told anyone yet? I haven't yet but have been thinking about telling my mum on her birthday next week. I'll be 5 wks then.

It feels like I've been pregnant forever already! That's what you get for POAS at 7dpo!!

featherbag · 30/04/2013 20:26

Hi all. Sorry I've been MIA the last few days, my head's been up my arse. Still waiting for scan on Thursday to hopefully confirm all ok, but - I woke up with a definite bump this morning, prominent and noticeable! I'm only 8+3! DS was 5lbs 3ozs when born at 32/40, so looks like I'm growing another elephant. Made things rather difficult for my dream job interview this afternoon, had to make a few wardrobe adjustments, wear an extra-floaty top and make sure the panel didn't get a side view! Going to try and catch up on thread now, but will probably fall asleep hope everyone's ok.

weechops · 30/04/2013 20:40

Oh I have had the most horrible 2 days. Poor ds has gastroenteritis. He's only 21/2 and has been sick all yesterday, and pooey all today. Poor wee guy :( he's usually so full of beans so to see him listless on the couch is awful. Dh not home til Thursday night and I just feel so alone with everyghing. Can feel a big sobbing session coming on. Holding it in til dd falls asleep.

5ammy · 30/04/2013 20:46

Sob away Weechops - I'm hoping crying constantly is just hormones, if not I'm going insane. Sending hugs.

yogafan · 30/04/2013 21:20

Aw weechops, hope you both have a good night sleep and feel better in the morning. Is he eating/drinking anything? My 2 year old DD was sick a while back and I gave her stock to drink (crumbled a stock cube in hot water), plain rice, as many little sips of liquid as possible. It is heartbreaking seeing them so feeble.

Featherbag - good luck for the job! When do you find out? Sorry to hear doctor has made you worry about this preg, hopefully scan will put your mind at rest.

Music - really sorry to hear that this isn't a super easy laid back uncomplicated pregnancy. Bummer. But as others have said, you know what it is and how to fix it. It's a pain but it can be dealt with. Hope you are getting all the looking after you need from your mum and DP.

I've just got back from France - no wine or stinky cheese for me, gutted - and have been looong absent from the chat. It's nice to be back.

MildredH · 30/04/2013 21:33

Hey Feather- how'd the interview go? When will you hear?
