Just starting a new thread as we're starting to run out of room on the first. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1716486-December-2013#38680515

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

mum I had no idea that salicylic acid was on the list. But I'm afraid apart from the very obvious things I'm one of those ones who is just not worrying about what to avoid. And anyway I'm going to have to start taking aspirin as its recommended from 12 weeks as I've got pre-existing hypertension, and that's pure salicylic acid!

Anyway, if you feel reassured that's good as its good stuff. It's the only thing I've found that helps with non inflamed acne. I've never had any reaction to it either.

mumoftwoboysS · 27/05/2013 22:25

bonker5Mum I've read that its not as much of a concern with face washes as they wash up so not much is absorbed- I think it's with any creams that sink into the skin.

Also, although I'm weary of these chemicals there is very conflicting evidence- some websites say they're fine, some say not. Some doctors say they're fine and some say to avoid so I don't know how we're supposed to know if they really should be avoided or not! I suppose you just have to make a judgement. I'm trying to avoid them if I can but my skin is pretty bad so need a bloody good alternative!...

b0nker5Mum · 27/05/2013 22:40

Thanks mum.... Have you found an alternative that works? (Not that the one I've been using has made much difference!)

musiceverywhere · 27/05/2013 23:05

Hi all! Not posted for a while, but I've been keeping up with everyone's progress- so exciting to hear about all the lovely scans! But days are going sooo slowly till mine. A week tomorrow and then hopefully I'll have a lot of answers instead of a ton of questions! Including a decision as to whether or not we can go on the holiday we had planned in June (fingers crossed...) featherbag I know what you mean about a 'long pregnancy'!
I've definitely stopped having so much nausea and not feeling so tired. Boobs still sore though, really hope all well with bean. Finally gave in and bought a new bigger bra and some 'jeggings' (which are much comfier than my jeans)
Hope everyone feeling ok/not too sick/found some comfy clothes/ignoring bitchy work'mates'/not too spotty etc. Ooh this is such a joyous time!Wink

Alyssa1978 · 28/05/2013 00:19

Hi everyone, can I join please?

Pg with #3, got 2 boys already 2 years and 10 months old and due December 8th according to the midwife but I have my dating scan tomorrow afternoon.
Had an early scan due to suspected ectopic but little bean was tucked away safely where he should be with a nice heartbeat.

froubylou · 28/05/2013 09:08

Morning all

Welcome to all the new mummies!

Nice to hear of more good scans. Hope your symptoms have settled down a bit now Feathers and all goes well today xx

Bizarre dream last night that I had shaken a bag over the bed with me and OH in and we were being attacked by bees lol. Poor bloke woke up with me shaking the quilt and patting us down shouting 'Keep still, keep still or you'll get stung' lol. Then had a nosebleed at 5am.

Bizarrely though I was quite pleased with nosebleed in a strange kind of way. I know I am pregnant, have had the BFP, been to book in with MW, got my scan date through and had the usual huge boobs, bloated belly, sicky feeling followed by hunger BUT all could in theory be symptoms of PMT. So to have something as dramatic and concrete as a nosebleed (which I never usually get) was quite reassuring especially as some of my other symptoms seem to be easing a little.

Fickle bunch these pregnant women lol.

Anyone thought of any names yet? Know its a long way off but so far I like Toby David (OH's name as a middle name) for a boy and Amelia Caitlin for a girl. Probably change my mind a million times between baby coming though lol.

Lots and lots and lots of housework to do today. Had an epic failure to do anything constructive all weekend other than go for some nice walks, wash a pony and eat lots of food pmsl.

clare8allthepies · 28/05/2013 11:18

On train home from work as started bleeding, it's probably nothing but it's just how my miscarriage in January started. Called the early pregnancy unit and they'll see me this afternoon.
Really hope everything's ok, have been so happy since 12 week scan last week.
Sorry for the moan, hope everyone else is doing well x

QueenofWhispers · 28/05/2013 11:35

Hi guys!

I don't know whats going on with me. I've turned into pure evil. I'm actually quite sad about this, because normally I like my personality.

I also believe this may be the end of my marriage. Spoke to Mil last night who started to talk about my weight--and I just became a very cold person and told her to focus on the fat ugly people under her own roof. Then I told her a few home truths and now I'm pretty sure she thinks I have problems. Our conversation went from bad to worse. On one hand, I don't think I can apologise because I was standing up for myself, and on the other hand I still can't bring myself to apologise because she sucks.

When I was pregnant with DS my personality did not change at all; with this pregnancy I'm seeing a lot more of my restraint just fly out the window.

I may call GP or find a therapist. I cannot walk around unhappy with my own attitude...even if I'm telling mean people the truth about themselves.

oh yes, I have names

I've got four names:

Felix
Maxmillion
Helena
Olivia

Just need to narrow it down to two when I find out what I'm having.

ccsays · 28/05/2013 11:43

Fingers crossed for you clare, hope everything is ok.

My names are George for a boy (after my late grandpa, non-negotiable) and Melody for a girl? Sometimes I really love it and other times I swither a bit Confused What say you? I like Helena, QueenofWhispers, it's pretty.

ccsays · 28/05/2013 11:47

Eep, just read the rest of your post properly. Hope you're ok.

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 28/05/2013 11:48

Just thought I'd pop up and say hi!
Lucky to all of you who have had scans, I havent even had my midwife appointment yet.

Clare8, thinking of you and hope all is ok. Flowers

I've been pretty much in bed for the last three weeks, tired, sick, ridiculously emotional and unable to care for dd (which is making me more emotional...)- bring on 12 week mark I say!

I'm going to try to keep up to date with this thread, it moves so bloody fast and I keep getting lost.

mumoftwoboysS · 28/05/2013 11:56

bonkers no- I really do think that the only 2 ingredients that really work on spots are saliyclic acid or benzoyl peroxide. From what I've read benzoyl peroxide is deemed safer than saliyclic acid. Any of the more 'natural' pregnancy friendly lotions etc just don't seem to do anything to my face at least. I guess it depends how bad your skin is. Mine is pretty stubborn right now. Think I might use my Simple Spotless range stuff right now then after 1st tri use something a bit stronger. The one thing that I found was a miracle worker was the Proactiv 3 step system which you can get in Boots.

froubylou I have a TON of housework to do too. Originally I couldn't do anything as I felt so sick and tired all the time, now that's wearing off I don't really have any excuses!!

Alyssa welcome! I have 2 boys too. Are you going to find out what this one is? I'm tempted but not sure as didn't find out with the other two.

clare8 hope all is ok. Fingers crossed. maybe it's just something benign, I know plenty of people get bleeds and baby is fine, really hoping that's the case for you.

Queen sorry to hear you're having a tough time. It could be hormones? Maybe you're getting a rather severe reaction from them. Perhaps you should talk to your GP and see what they say?

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 28/05/2013 11:58

Oh, and it's really reassuring to know that others have unwanted hairs sprouting. I'm not too proud to admit I have a beard and snail trail now :-)

mumoftwoboysS · 28/05/2013 12:01

OMG. DON'T look at the Daily mail front page (online) if you are feeling emotionally fragile. I'm actually really upset they put it so GRAPHICALLY on the front page. I'm crying right now.

I won't put a link- you can decide if you want to look! The baby is ok (have to say that first) but it shows a baby found alive being extracted from a toilet pipe after someone (in China) flushed their newborn down the loo.. I'm in shock.....

so glad he/she is alive but how could someone do that? I feel so sad for that poor unwanted baby.....

sorry- pregnancy hormones making me blub big time.... Sad

yogafan · 28/05/2013 13:06

Thanks for the warning mumoftwoboys - there's no way I want to see that. I am ridiculously emotional and teary at the smallest things (just watching DD in soft play today, and thinking how much I loved her - I literally had to calm myself down before everyone - including DD saw I was blubbing!)

Sorry to hear about the bleed clare8 - hopefully is well, you've had your scan and seen the heartbeat, but it must be nerve wracking, particularly having experienced a mc. Thinking of you. Will you let us know when you've had the scan?

queen sounds like you're really suffering with your MIL as well as your hormones. How often do you see her? Can you get a bit of space, seems like she's really stressing you out. Agree that talking to GP might be a good idea too if you feel out if sorts, and counselling would be great. I think we need all the support we can get trying to cope with hectic lives AND pregnancy, and if you think therapy would help, go for it. Hope things are ok with your DP, we're all here if you want to talk about that more. Sending you hugs.

CC - i love Melody! It's beautiful, original, and uplifting. Are you gonna find out if it's a boy or a girl, or wait until you meet them?!

froubylou · 28/05/2013 13:10

Claire hope things are ok? If its any consolation my sister had a massive bleed with her little boy at about 18 weeks to the point they were talking transfussion. But he's now a strapping 7 year old. Let us know what EPU says. And whatever they say take it easy the rest of the week and have some time off.

Mumof2boys. I won't look but what a bloody rotten world we live in sometimes.

Queen sorry you are feeling vile hun. Explain to your nearest and dearest its pregnancy hormones and you don't mean it. Unless you do in which case tell them to feck off. If you are really not happy with how you feel and dont like the person you are becomming then seek some help. I do sometimes feel irrationally angry over the most silly things and its usually OH that cops for it but I know thats just hormones and thankfully, he does too.

I have got a little more abrupt with clients at work though lol. But think that will be good for them. I deal with landlords who have problems with tenants and have 2 at the moment that just want to waste my time asking the same thing over and over and over again just incase the advice I am offering (FOC) will change if they keeo asking me.

Told 1 that she had been given enough free advice to last her a lifetime both by phone and by email and unless she actually wanted to take some of that advice to stop ringing me. And told the second one it was time to stop moaning about the unfairness and injustice of it all and put her money where her mouth was. And that if she spent less time moaning and more time being proactive that she probably wouldn't be in this position.

This was 2 weeks ago and not heard from either since pmsl.

Not bothered though. Neither wants to spend any money on doing something constructive so they are just wasting my time.

And thats time I could spend snoozing/prowling round the interweb doing virtual shopping/eating/buying food to eat pmsl.

zebedeeandthefunbags · 28/05/2013 13:17

Hi all I've been lurking for weeks posted once a few weeks back. My EDD is around 23rd Dec. I have 2 scans at the EPU 6 and 7 weeks. Had some borwn discharge after sex last week, was having a difficult stressy week so Doc said to have bed rest for 2 to 3 days and abstain from sex. it stopped but is now same again today. Anyone else having this? Argh feel like all I've done is worry since I got preg. :(

ccsays · 28/05/2013 13:45

Thanks yogafan Smile We're not going to find out the sex, I think a surprise would be nicer especially with this being my first pregnancy.

mumoftwoboys I saw that and thought 'oh, what a shame' but this sets me off every time! (?good dog? WAAAAAAAAAH, HE JUST WANTED TO BE LOVED! :'( )

zebedee did you see a heartbeat at your early scans? If it's brown blood I'd try no to panic (easier said than done, obviously!)

zebedeeandthefunbags · 28/05/2013 13:50

Thanks for reply @ccsays yes 150 at 7 weeks which apparently was good and me and my husband keep repeating that stat from miscarriage website about likelihood of preg continuing. Just want to understand where its coming from and why and stop feeling scared of this pregnancy :( xx

QueenofWhispers · 28/05/2013 13:55

thanks girls! really feel supported by you all. i will call gp and speak to her and see what she says.

for all of those who did harmony test at FMC would they talk to you about your results over the phone? They told me to call in today and when I did they told me they were only going to speak to me in person.

I'm quite worried now.

ccsays · 28/05/2013 14:01

It could be implantation bleeding. I've also read various bits and bobs online saying that sex can displace old blood in the cervix. Ultimately if it's brown that means it's old, not new blood. Plus if you've had a good strong heart heartbeat your chance of a miscarriage is dramatically reduced. As I read elsewhere, if you were told that there was a 95% chance of snow you'd start looking out the snow shovel! Smile

zebedeeandthefunbags · 28/05/2013 14:08

Very true! GP is faxing EPU as has happened again. We both have blood tests tomorrow for me being a carrier of an unusual HB variant and I had a bereavement last week so its prob combo of factors and hormones. Just want to stop worrying. Thanks again xxx

LateBloomer414 · 28/05/2013 14:34

wondering if this is normal... but let me first apologize by providing way too much information: when I go for a wee, my urine is really very dark yellow - like how it would normally look if I was very dehydrated. Then today, I noticed that there was a very VERY faint hue of pink on the toilet paper. I checked every time I went and it never presented as actual 'spotting' but that rosy color was there. My scan is on Monday; I'm just wondering if I should ring the EPU to come in early or if I'm worrying about nothing.

clare8, really hope everything is ok.

zebedeeandthefunbags · 28/05/2013 14:42

@LateBloomer414 my wee has been like since my BFP wondered if it was vits? Brown in morn bleee!

QueenofWhispers · 28/05/2013 14:45

thanksccsays

saw the advert and crying and crying...i just can't stop. i love my milo.
