Will this one take us through to the end of the first trimester? Will the sickness ever end? Will we be able to judge genders from those first scan pictures? These and many other mysteries to be solved in... THREAD 4

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

MotherOfNations just adding my voice of support. We are all here for you. I'm so sorry your scan was worrying, and I hope you get time to talk things through, and that you get lots of support. Have you looked at the ante natal choices pages here? I'm not sure anyone's mentioned ARC, but they have a helpline www.arc-uk.org/ Might be useful thinking about whether or not to have the amnio, or if there are alternatives? Big hugs to you all, will be thinking of you over Easter X

Natalieand · 28/03/2013 18:34

TheFalconsmistress · 28/03/2013 18:53

Panic..

Ds has chickpox and it turns out i have not had them. Phoned anti natal triage and they are getting my bloods from booking checked if im not immune then baby bean is at quite a big risk at im inbetween 13-20 weeks :/ I have evrything crossed hoping i get an immunity phone call tomorrow

littleducks · 28/03/2013 18:57

MoN, sorry scan wasn't reassuring. I would also suggest not googling, it probably won't be info specific to you and will end up scareing you.
Some places/drs are good at amnios, with tiny rates of it causing miscarriage. I think it would give you a definite diagnosis, but there still can be variations in how each child presents with that condition/syndrome IYSWIM. Things like that are good questions to take along written down to ask on Tuesday.
Fingers crossed you get all the info you need on Tuesday.

I had my scan yesterday, put me at 11.4 weeks which us a bit of a shuffle back for me. Need to calculate my new due date. Unfortunately mw appointment lead to another hospital admission and a drip for my hyperemesis, was only discharged last Thursday Hmm. Might be a long pregnancy!!!

Rockchick1984 · 28/03/2013 19:11

MoN I'm so sorry it was bad news today for you. Agree with all the other posters - write a list of all the questions you want answers to as you are likely to forget them while you're there. Sending lots of positive thoughts to you Thanks

Haylebop12 · 28/03/2013 19:13

MoN hand holding for you here.

little sorry to hear another admission. I've managed to stay out now for two whole weeks! Have been sick a few times but managed to get back on top of it myself. 11+4 here. I have good mornings but from 4pm onwards I feel like utter crap.

Can't wait to say I'm 12wk, hurry up Sunday! Nice to hear of so many having dates put forward and skipping whole weeks, hehe.

DH left me a job to do today and that was get the house in a good enough state for the sky man tomoz. We're still living round boxes and bags of clothes. I haven't managed it and he will be back from work in an hour ish. Oops!

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/03/2013 19:14

Congrats on scan little ducks, sorry you are feeling ill again.

Falcon, Fingers crossed that the blood results show you are immune. Did the triage midwives reccomend keeping away from ds now at all? It is infectious before the spots show but he will still be infectious until the spots crust over. Do you have a relative who could look after him for a while? Or is that just cruel to send away a sick little boy...? Going to horrible mother

JellyCurls · 28/03/2013 19:17

MoN did you say you were in Glasgow? My amnio was at the Queen Mums beside Yorkhill which is now shut but specialist team now work out of Southern General. Can't rate the staff I dealt with highly enough.

falcon hope you are chicken pox immune I am waiting on results of slapped cheek immunity. I have never had it but dc2 is pretty bad with it just now. Like you our wee Ribena berry is at risk if I not had it. Keeping everything crossed for you

char1eston · 28/03/2013 19:25

So sorry to hear your news Mon. I hope your other half feels up to talking soon. Sending you lots of love.

falcon - can you have a jab for the pox if you're not immune?

TheFalconsmistress · 28/03/2013 19:27

Finger crossed for you too jelly it rather nerve wrecking there is a lot going round atm.

orange I have 2 wee spots that have popped up on my back so it may be secondary or first infection if its secondary i will have enough immunity for baby to be fine if not will have to go get immunoglobulin inject to help minimise the risk to baby as much as possible but not much point in running from Ds now. I am actually kicking myself playgroup said it was going around but as he had not shown any symptoms i forgot about it Sad

PseudoBadger · 28/03/2013 19:41

TheFalcons- fingers crossed for you.
MoN - I'm sorry the scan was worrying, I'll be thinking of you until next week.

I'm just packing as we're all flying out to N Ireland tomorrow morning for Easter and a wedding - toddlers need so much stuff! We have to leave home at 5.30

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/03/2013 19:43

Falcon, bad luck on already having two spots. Great news that there is something they can give you if you aren't immune but here's hoping it isn't necessary.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 28/03/2013 19:56

Love to you Mon. Sending you lots of support.

Crookie1 · 28/03/2013 19:59

JethroTull · 28/03/2013 20:37

Tarlia · 28/03/2013 21:04

MoN Sending you a big hug. I'm so sorry for the news about your little one and the possibility of maxing out c- sections, what a tough place to be. I am sending you strength and positive vibes to help you make the right decisions for you and your family. We will all be here for hand holding whatever you decide.

falc sorry you have the pox, fingers crossed for you it's secondary.

Jelly fingers crossed for your results too.

Tucking I'm a scan buddy along with 3 others. Sounds like you had a fab booking in MW.

MotherOfNations · 28/03/2013 21:06

Me and Dp have spoken a bit. He thinks we should terminate but I don't think we should make any decisions til Tuesday. He's worried we won't cope and that if we knew for sure that it was a mild case of downs then that would be different.
The trouble with the amnio is that it might rule out downs but there are other conditions that could be causing the fluid build up that are much more severe . We couldn't cope with having a baby then watching it die.jellycurlsI'm booked into the Princess Royal. I wish the Queen Mothers was still there. I loved my experience in there with 2 of my previous pregnancies.

MotherOfNations · 28/03/2013 21:09

Falcon I hope everything turns out ok. Surely this thread has had enough bad luck for the odds to be in your favour.

moonblues · 28/03/2013 21:30

MotherofNations I'm sorry you had such a worrying scan. Sending you lots of love and support.

TheFalconsmistress · 28/03/2013 21:36

FeministInTraining · 29/03/2013 07:23

MoN sending you a hand squeeze and another big hug, sorry you are having to make such a difficult decision, I think you're right to wait until Tuesday when you have more info to decide. I really hope you get the answers you need. We're all here whatever happens xx

JellyCurls · 29/03/2013 07:25

Just been given a heads up at work that people think I am pregnant. Some man I have never spoke to and who I don't know asked the guy I sit next to if I was. My boobs gave it away apparently.

Not sure I like the men at work talking about my boobs. Mental note to get longer scarves for cover up purposes

No bump yet but wait till that appears will really get tongues wagging
