WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/03/2013 09:42

stuff really sorry about the bleeding. Hope you get a scan soon. Thanks

ilovemiltonismybestfriend · 22/03/2013 09:57

It's snowed!! Today I am planning a day indoors decorating and getting my house in good shape. I have also used the excuse that I don't want to go out incase I slip! :)

Midwife appt seems ages away! It's like another 2ww. What is everyone else doing to occupy themselves before they have any doctors/midwife appointments?

Alexandra6 · 22/03/2013 09:58

Oh stuff, how awful, I am keeping hopeful for you that the bleeding isn't anything bad. What's the bleeding like?

I donwloaded an app called 'What to expect' which shows what size your baby is and a tip for the day (diet etc). Only thing is, I am 4 weeks and 1 day and it says that is too early to test - you shouldn't test until 5 weeks. Now worried I tested too early and am still in the very high risk zone for chemical. What do you think? Apparently baby is the size of an orange seed already!!!

MotherOfCleo · 22/03/2013 10:01

alex panic not, I tested 4 days early then freaked out in the wait to actually miss AF.

On another note, eating chocolate fingers for brekky does not help the nausea Sad very bad idea....doh.

ive got babycentre pregnancy app, ff app wiv preg tracker and the mumsnet app. oh, and a baby names app Grin

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/03/2013 10:23

I just downloaded the What to Expect app. alex traditionally it says you should wait till one week post AF to test. But our tests now are much more sensitive so can pick up smaller amounts of hcg. Don't worry too much about mc. Yes we are more likely to notice it now than our mother's generation. But I guess if you know the probability of it happening, you are sort of prepared for it? (At least it did for me. A lost at 6 weeks can't be compared to one lost at 12 weeks, for example. I was able to get over it and think it just shows DH and I are fertile, instead of having a lot of bad thoughts, iyswim).

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/03/2013 10:23

Um baby names app ...

Saundy · 22/03/2013 10:28

I've got the Baby center & What too Expect too. DP got the Belly Booth too - has anyone else used that? It was recommended in his NHS weekly email to help him feel involved bless.

2 stone seems like a lot of weight, how much of that is baby? I would hate to put 2 stone on, or rather would hate to have lose it after!

Saundy · 22/03/2013 10:28

There's a baby NAMES app?!

CheeseandGherkins · 22/03/2013 10:29

onelittle yes it was on ITV at 9pm, was really good. If the baby does get stuck there are lots of positions they can get you to move into so it gives your pelvis more space but a truely stuck baby they could still cut you and stitch at home. Assuming you wanted a home birth. I'll definitely be giving birth in hospital, not least because I'll be delivering by 37 weeks at the latest I think. Dd3 was induced at 33+5 due to gestational diabetes and I'm more than likely to get it again this time. I have to start finger pricking at 12 weeks but no doubt be back on the insulin injections by 13 weeks like last time.

MotherofCleo when is your scan? Hope it goes well. I think I put on about a stone and a bit last time, something like that. I was heavily restricted in what I could eat due to GD though, I was terrified something would go wrong again so I followed it to the letter.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/03/2013 10:29

Thanks for the rec for babycentre app honey and saundy. I got to the point where I need to sign up to what to expect's american forums and gave up! I don't want newsletters and forums. Babycentre on the other hand, only wants my EDD. I'm now looking at it, and it's telling me what cheese I can eat.

CheeseandGherkins · 22/03/2013 10:31

Saundy not only the actual weight of the baby but the placenta, extra blood volume, boobs, etc. Your body usually does put some fat away for breastfeeding too.

Saundy · 22/03/2013 10:34

Christ that's a lot to carry about, but if it means a healthy baby totally worth it.

honey86 · 22/03/2013 10:42

yeah its called mobile mom baby names, from the apple app store its free. im on babycentre as misshoneymoolaa, but go on here a hellova lot more, i prefer mn. my sisters on babycentre too x

getoffthecoffeetable · 22/03/2013 10:43

I put on four stone with DS - and that was weighing myself a week after I'd given birth.
There's no way I'm going to do that again!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/03/2013 10:44

cheeseandgherkins I'm at high risk of a not being able to make it to the hospital. I was told that by the midwife who helped delivered DD, and now by my booking in midwife. I was only in the hospital for induction because of water breaking prematurely last time. Otherwise I don't think I'd know to go in. I'm actually sacred of a home birth because of needing a ventouse last time. I was only given an hour to push and they buzzed in someone senior to pull DD out. They also have the resus machine ready. But I take your point of them having other ways to get the baby out. The midwife in charge of me said we'll go through our birth plan later in the pregnancy. So I think I'll take what you said on board and ask her what will they do if it won't come out.

JBrd · 22/03/2013 10:46

stuff Thinking of you - have you spoken to the EPU or a midwife at all? You hear so many stories of people that had bleeding in early pregnancy, and all was OK. Fingers crossed for you.

I need to check out the baby names app! DH will hate me Grin. We had some very lively fights discussions about baby names last time - unfortunately, we have very different tastes. And as an additional handicap, we need a name that works in English and in German (I'm Swiss, but grew up in Germany), so both sides of the family can pronounce and spell it. It'll be ffuuuunnn Grin I wonder what I could do to persuade DH that my name choices are great...

Re weight gain - I put on over 3st with DS, lost about 1 through birth, and then did WW for the other 2. For me, the choice was either to feel and be sick 24hrs, or eat - guess what I chose Grin. I put on a stone in the 1st trimester alone Shock
I will try to keep the waight gain in check this time, but if it comes to it, I will again choose food over nausea. There are limits of how much I'm willing to suffer.

CheeseandGherkins · 22/03/2013 10:54

onelittle it does make sense having a home birth box in case you don't make it in time, I labour quickly too (my last birth I got to the hospital at 7cms and had her about 35 mins later!) Positioning can really help with opening up space for the baby to come out, so not lying on your back but upright, kneeling etc opens your pelvis properly. Even if it were true shoulder dystocia there are positions you can be asked to get into to help dislodge the baby.

Obviously though there would be times when you may need to transfer to hospital but you'd be assessed at the time for that. Depending on how well the baby is coping with labour you can take longer than an hour, I was pushing for 2 hours with my second son and he came out naturally and well. That was in hospital.

If you have questions you can ask your midwife the next time you see her, if you are worrying and likely to continue to do so then it's better to address your concerns now rather than later in the pregnancy. I know I'd feel a lot happier going through things with her sooner in your position.

Saundy · 22/03/2013 10:54

Its funny DP and I used to talk about names a bit pre pregnancy but since the bfp neither of us have raised the subject since, it must be a subconscious get to 12 weeks thing. I wont be telling anyone what names we're thinking though - opinions are not welcome haha (its just asking for trouble!).

honey86 · 22/03/2013 10:55

haha Grin same as. he wants isabella or paris, but i want kelsey. boy he wants blake but i want colby. weve already had heated rows about it lol x

louby86 · 22/03/2013 11:06

Thanks for adding me to the list slippy Smile

Cheese, my LO is 13 months too, can't believe where the time has gone!

Off to catch up on the rest of the thread now....

Saundy · 22/03/2013 11:07

Maybe its best we haven't got into it yet then, I think he's probably resigned to having very little say. For those who aren't married what surname are you going for? I'm going for mine.

GinSling82 · 22/03/2013 11:08

Morning ladies,

Thinking of you stuff try to take it easy and I really hope everything is OK Thanks

Saundry your post about the floating poo and Mr Hankey names actually made me laugh out loud! Thank you, I really needed that today.

Early pregnancy is harder than I expected. I woke this morning thinking my boobs weren't sore anymore, and I did feel nauseous but not as nauseous as I usually feel so my brain went into full on panic mode worrying about lack of symptoms. I can't believe how worrying it is all the time or what a neurotic woman I've turned into!Confused

I don't think it helps that I'm also having a rough time at work, doing some really bad shifts at the moment, working every weekend and working till 10pm every evening. I only get one day off before another stretch of 5 days on followed by one day off.Sad I feel exhausted and I'm never getting to see DH. I've got my one day off today and I can't be bothered to get dressed, the house is a mess, I feel a mess, I don't feel like I can even enjoy my time off.

Sorry to moan ladies Blush
