honey86 · 22/03/2013 07:32

yep i have 3 kids already but their 7,5 and nearly 4, and all go to school... dd goes full time in sept, so i do get at least 2hrs break each morning, and all day weds and thurs... which is why im grateful for the age gap

thanks hun for the advice ill bear that in mind, ill go by fetal movements as usual rather than relying on the doppler

still tired n sick this morning , assuming thats a good sign... going to invest in new bras this weekend Blush

Well done to your DH suffolk glad you're feeling better. I can't imagine having hg, it sounds horrendous. I'm melodramatic enough with just normal pregnancy symptoms!

Dizzy81 · 22/03/2013 08:01

Morning you chatty lot. :-)

I feel rougher than the roughest thing known to man. It's taken me an hr to eat my breakfast, I had to lay down for 20 minutes.

I can't sleep on my back any more as it makes me want to vom.

How am I going to get through today?

I must stoop feeling sorry for myself.

gubbinsy · 22/03/2013 08:02

Wow this thread moves fast! Feeling slightly concerned that I'm not really sick - feel a bit nauseous first thing and if I don't eat regularly but that's it. Should probably be grateful!

Just added myself to the list too

As you can tell I have far too much time on my hands, I've just finished a degree and don't really know what to do with myself.

I have just read all 37 pages of posts so feel well and truly caught up!

Saundy · 22/03/2013 08:20

Haha thanks Slippy! Thats an epic read right there, are you ready to write you thesis now?! Wink

slippysnow · 22/03/2013 08:33

Also, some advice that I am recycling:

If you are planning on getting an early scan try and have it after 6 weeks (I'd say closer to 8) and try and be sure of your dates. I've read that someone had it around 6w and the baby was smaller than expected with a fainter/undeveloped heart beat.- This could have been due to the baby actually being 5 weeks. But, she was told to brace herself for the worst, this must be horrendous to hear, and give little reassurance like what people actually seek from these scans. I was desperate for an early scan but now I'm feeling much more positive about 12weeks as there will be so much more to see and less concern overall. However, I do realise people get these due to medical conditions etc. and each to there own etc. but thought this may help someone.

For those of you who have an iphone, there is an app called sprout which I'm really impressed with it cost £2.99 and it has really detailed images of baby development week by week with great info, lists for purchase, remembering for appointments. It also has a weight tracker and for later on in the pregnancy a contraction counter and kick counter (if I remember correctly)- all in all a good little app. (There are some other free ones that are good too!)

slippysnow · 22/03/2013 08:34

Yep Saundy it's a working title... A critical analysis of the views and opinions of the Mumsnet November antenatal club ;)

CheeseandGherkins · 22/03/2013 08:38

Morning all. Loved the home birth show on tv last night, not that I'll be able to have one but I like the idea. I was so tired though, made myself stay up to see it but I was almost falling asleep!

I'm not on the stats list for some reason, I was before :s

Saundy everyone's different with weight gain, I never gain much and usually lose weight in the first trimester. Good luck with the dvd, I haven't got the energy for anything like that! It's enough running around after the kids for me.

getoff I've been getting to bed around 8/9 but stayed up until 10 last night and am even more tired this morning. I'm still waking up tired but that might be dd3 still feeding in the night too. Pretty used to it by now but could definitely get a few more hours sleep!

Honey I have 4, 3 in school aged 11, 9, 6 and 13 months. I love the shorter age gaps. I have a doppler myself and did find the heartbeat early last time, around 8ish weeks I think. It can take a while as the baby is so small but I wanted it for peace of mind after my stillbirth. Obviously though, if I had any concerns I wouldn't rely on it but get in asap and get checked out!

Saundy · 22/03/2013 08:45

Grin several volumes to follow!

I have to second the don't scan too early advice. I was sent for an emergency one at 6 weeks and there was very little to see.

If you're not going for medical reasons I would defo hold out. I saw a 2mm (apparently) blob and a little white light that flashed on & off - the heart beating. Apparently I was very lucky to see the heart as its common not to show up yet so early. Even knowing this had there not been a heartbeat it would have sat there niggling away so isn't worth the potential worry.

Also because it looks nothing like a baby yet DP though it looked like a little poo floating in there which has led to him adopting a legion of inappropriate nic names, Mr Hanky being his favourite (South Park watchers will get that one). V annoying!!

Saundy · 22/03/2013 08:47

Cheese I imagine kids is more than enough exercise to be getting on with, still in the planning stages of DVD, 3 mins into the warm up did me last time & I had to lie down for an hour. I am suffering from major baby tireds though - like most of us!

stuffthenonsense · 22/03/2013 08:57

Thank god for snow days! My teens are off school today so are on toddler/baby duty as I am on orders to rest because of bleeding. Have spent 24 hrs basically crying.

getoffthecoffeetable · 22/03/2013 08:59

Oh stuff hope they're looking after you too. Make sure you take it easy.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/03/2013 09:01

havinera thanks for that, I'm very much taking the attitude of if I'm sick I'm sick. I will try and struggle through most days but with dds cold keeping her up 2 nights on the trot I'm completely on my arse.

Got an appointment with GP later to check my iron levels, I don't think that's the problem but its worth checking. Also going to ask her about the headache I've had since 4 weeks pregnant. Moan moan moan.

saundy it is kind of reassuring to hear others are really tired too (sorry Grin). I love the nickname Mr Hanky, although I did watch South Park and then I realised its actually very icky.

JBrd · 22/03/2013 09:03

gubbinsy I'm also not feeling sick at the moment, at which I am equally thankful and worried about - but last time the ms kicked in at about 5-6 weeks, and I'm only 4+5, so I guess there is still time.
I know quite a few people who never had morning sickness, that must be sooo fabulous. However, I didn't have any sickness in my last pregnancy, which sadly ended in miscarriage, so I can't help thinking along the lines ms=healthy pregnancy - which is stupid.

Thanks for the updated list, there are so many people here!

I second the advice against having too early scans - it can cause so much heartache and worry! I'd say if there is no medical reason, hold out till 12 weeks.

CheeseandGherkins · 22/03/2013 09:06

Oh no stuff I hope you're ok, are you booked in for a scan because of it? Please rest as much as you can x

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/03/2013 09:10

Saundy I didn't gain much weight at all for my first. I look not pregnant even at 20 weekish. I remembered as I didn't tell work until after the 20 week scan. I think it was less than 10kg in total I gained.

CheeseandGherkins was there a home birth show on last night? The thought of it scares me! The midwife said I need to have a home birth box at my booking in (because of my previous birth experience). And she reassured me that since I had a episiotomy last time, it's unlike I'd need the ventouse again. But really? Am I that loose down there now that it won't get stuck? I wonder what happens in home births when the baby just won't come out?

It seems many of you are swearing by ginger biscuits. Maybe I'll pop to the shops today and get myself a pack. I seem to only want to eat crap atm.

Saundy · 22/03/2013 09:10

Stuff I'm so sorry to read that, I hope you're being looked after, take it easy and try not to let your mind go on overdrive. Easier said than done I know. Stay away from Dr google too!! Sending hugs your way.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 22/03/2013 09:12

stuff hope you are ok.

And I'm really really tired too. Skipped a work do last night as all I want to do was curl up under my duvet Sad

Saundy · 22/03/2013 09:16

That's ok When I know it is good to know you're not alone here. Did you manage to wor your work stress?

Mr Hanky on the other hand is not ok though!! Not least of all because I'm trying to insist shes a girl (no clue though, probably a boy lol).

Good to see the weight isn't a foregone conclusion, as everything its always individual but why can't there be a rule list. This will happen, that's it no surprises - if only!!

MotherOfCleo · 22/03/2013 09:20

thinking of you stuff hope all is ok.

My early scan is booked for 9 weeks, I checked with them before booking and 9 weeks should be fine, there should be something to see at least. Smile

Fairydogmother · 22/03/2013 09:20

hope you're ok stuff

its horrendous weather over here - no electricity at home. fought my way to work and we've no heating ffs

i've a few wee stabby pains in my tummy today Confused

MotherOfCleo · 22/03/2013 09:22

one I think 10kgs sounds about right they say on average women put on 1.5 - 2 stone....fingers crossed I am one of those people.
