TiredFeet · 21/03/2013 20:45

DS (2.5) was asking me about babies again today, I swear he has guessed something, its uncanny (although probably more because a lot of his friends at nursery have baby siblings).

I was explaining about how when he was very tiny he lived in my tummy and he said "yes and then I went 'POP' out of your tummy and then had a big hug and then ate lunch" . erm yes DS if you say so!

OneLittleToddleTerror · 21/03/2013 20:56

TiredFeet that's so sweet. DD is nearly 2 and I don't think she knows anything yet.

MotherOfCleo · 21/03/2013 20:57

Hum, Im feeling a bit miffed. I got my 12 week scan date through and told my OH, he said that he can come to the private one as I booked it for 7pm but might not be able to come to the 12 week one as its during the day. Was I wrong to tell him he didnt have a choice and that he had to come? I was quite hurt, we are in this together and I think the least he can do is come to the scans! Men really can be crap!

Alexandra6 · 21/03/2013 21:04

Awwww mother have to say my DH would get in serious trouble for even suggesting he misses that! Surely his work will understand?! He'd be gutted to miss it wouldnt he - and you need the support! Glad you put your foot down!

Lozcat86 · 21/03/2013 21:16

I got missed off the list.... Sad...EDD 13th november

Feeling very sicky right now, i went to my workshop today and stood all the way on the train and then had to eat some ginger biscuits to keep the nausea at bay. Boobs are solid! feels very strange!

Thanks alex I think he will want to be their he just doesnt like having to organise anything. I told him it was 'our' scan not 'my' scan and he didnt have a choice! The odd thing is his boss loves him so would be totally fine, even if he just said he needed a morning off to take me to the hospital I cant see it being an issue, I mean what man would ask questions about that?

loz mine are solid too! Very odd isnt it, I mean they were firm before but this is different.

Minesahotchocolate · 21/03/2013 21:52

Firsttimemummyy - absolutely zilch desire to do anything in bed with DH here too! Poor DH, I don't even want to cosy/cuddle as whilst feeling sick I just want my personal space. I seem to remember from my 1st preg that this lack of interest continued pretty much until about 8 months after the birth! My libido is dead as a dodo.

Someone mentioned they had a blocked nose/stuffy feeling - I have this too. I'm really hoping this doesn't develop (like it did last time) into the worst snoring ever later in the preg. My DH is a super light sleeper and really suffered - you could hear my snoring through the bedroom wall, and even sleeping in another room didn't totally help. Handily we do now know the best brand of earplugs :) Hate snoring though - makes you feel like a social outcast and there's nothing you can do about it.

MotherofCleo - My DH wasn't remotely interested with my first preg either. He kept saying that until the baby arrived it didn't seem at all real to him (he was to be fair v. stressed with his work at the time and we moved twice internationally during the preg which really didn't help). It is so hard to make the men folk feel involved as we are living/breathing every second & symptom of the preg, and most of their time they're completely unaware.

Fairydogmother · 21/03/2013 21:54

This time next week I'll have had my scan - o to go to sleep for a week lol

It's ridiculous I'm wishing my life away Confused!

Me and the dogs are in bed listening to the raging gales outside and wondering if we'll wake up to snow tomorrow!

honey86 · 21/03/2013 22:03

ask him if he knows what happens to a mans balls if they upset a hormonal woman lol Grin

so far so good today... cramps have eased alot and no more bleeding touch wood
symptoms wise ive felt awful today, at one point sat on the toilet floor shaking and on the verge of heaving.. had to sit down in between chores cos im just drained Shock

had a brave moment and invested in a handheld doppler like the one the midwives use... as im approaching 8 weeks and it claims to have pick up 9/10 week heartbeats...

hope your all well Smile

DittyRatt · 21/03/2013 22:05

due date buddies.

Wow you ladies can talk, off to catch up.

busyprocrastinating · 21/03/2013 22:20

Tiredfeet were you on oct 2010 thread? Your name looks familiar and your ds is about the same age as my dd.

I told my friend today as I was fed up of feeling miserable and it was nice to have someone other than dh to talk to about it all. Plus we have tickets to the theatre soon and she was asking about trains etc and I felt guilty knowing I can drive as I won't be drinking. She is someone I would turn to if there was a problem so I don't feel too bad about telling.

My lovely boss rang me and told me under no circumstances to go back to work tomorrow ( I've been off with flu like symptoms) so I am now looking forward to a relaxing day as dd is at nursery- providing I can get her there as we are forecast heavy snow.

Minesahotchocolate · 21/03/2013 22:21

Hi DittyRatt (would wave, but can't find the pointy arrow symbol on this german keyboard!).

Honey - So glad to hear the cramps have eased off. Go easy with the Doppler tho, I've heard they don't always pick up heart beats, even when all is perfectly well/healthy. So don't get too worried if you can't hear anything. Hope the sickness passes soon, sounds like you need to take things really easy/rest up as much as poss. Am I right in thinking you've other kids already though? Maybe that is easier said than done.

Fairydogmother Sounds wild where you are. We had a bit of snow today, which thankfully didn't settle, but no gales. Am SO over winter, can't wait for spring to arrive.

busyprocrastinating · 21/03/2013 22:22

Motherofcleo you did right its not optional as far as I'm concerned!

Honey glad you have had no more bleeding

TiredFeet · 21/03/2013 22:28

busy yes I was, have just posted on the thread to updated them and saw your news Smile had dropped off mumsnet really as been so busy in the evenings with work (I like to leave on time but then catch up when DS in bed). Congratulations to you! good you have a sensible boss Smile hope you can get DD to nursery and get some rest... I am bursting to tell people in real life but trying to hold off as only 5 weeks.

motherofcleo I think its hard for men to really understand it is real at this stage, and it doesn't mean he won't be a great dad once its all sunk in. DH wasn't that interested until quite late on but he was very hands on from the moment DS arrived.

Oh yes I've just seen on there too! Hello again Smile I pretty much had dropped off too for exactly the same reason but got my bfp about 4 weeks ago so been back on since then. My boss doesn't even know That I'm pg so is been especially nice. I haven't told anyone except my friend but I have been having trouble getting my head around it all and been feeling quite down so I thought it might help. I really don't know why as we were ttc for over a year! Anyway congrats to you too

artyone · 21/03/2013 22:54

JBrd I wasn't really trying and never tracked my cycles at all, so I have no idea when that was and what to put into the calculator. I took a clearblue digital 2 days ago which said 3+ (translating to 5+) which gives me a rough idea. I think I'm about 6 weeks, but no idea on exact dates.

harverina · 21/03/2013 22:54

Hi all not had much chance to catch up yet. Was so ill in work today, sitting in the toilet. Will read back then post properly.

Motherofcleo no you were not wrong for telling dp he had no choice!! Have you paid for a private early scan or dating scan? My friend had. Private scan at 8 weeks and they tell you very little - it wasn't a proper dating scan. The consultant just said from what he could see all was well and there was a lovely atrong heartbeat Grin so I suppose what I am saying is that the 12 week scan is likely to be more important/informative? And you could use this as an argument. But maybe not depending on where your going.

artyone · 21/03/2013 22:58

MotherOfCleo Don't let him miss it! My OH wouldn't get away with that. It could be important for bonding and you need him there to support you. Tell him to take time off as it's important.

harverina · 21/03/2013 23:18

Ok back again now that I have has a quick read!

Whenshewas don't take annual leave if your unwell. If your sick then your sick. I don't think it should matter if you are pregnant or not, if your too unwell for work then call in sick. Hopefully they will realise you are genuine because they know you are pregnant but if they don't think you are genuine then who cares. You and your baby are what is important. I have had very little time off sick so have a great sickness record in work. I only take time off if I am really really ill but i don't believe in struggling on if your feeling really poorly. I am quite lucky in that I can take flexi if I really need to get out of the office to sleep/lick crisps/vomit.

I think I will book some annual leave for end of April. Think I need some time to recharge my batteries and destress!

Someone asked about when we will start to feel better? I was much much better by week 14/15 last time though symptoms were far milder last time for me...either that or I was just more able to rest when I wanted so maybe didn't feel the effects quite so much.

Glad I'm not the only one with a huge tummy. I know mine must be related to all the crap I am eating and hope that in trimester 2 I will have calmed down!! I also need to get lactulose too at some point Smile I am try into think of alternatives to jeans for day wear. Maybe dresses and leggings?

Honey glad you are feeling better.

I am 7+5 today Grin booking in is next week and scan on 24 April.

Have just licked my way through two packets of crisps and feel a bit better for it!!

Hope you are all ok

MsFanackerPants · 22/03/2013 00:11

If DP said he wasn't coming to the scan, I think I'd cry! To be honest, I feel like crying loads anyway, but thankfully haven't. Any animal programmes are banned, I can't take the stress of watching them quite frankly.

Honey, I'm glad things are looking more promising and eeek for a teeny heartbeat.

My belly feels weird and squishy today. I am quite fat but it feels different to how my fat has felt for the previous 5 years! Had to undo my trousers at work yesterday as so bloated. I feel like I have a big sign over my head saying "Up the duff" as I'm gnawing on ginger biscuits or ginger sweets. Heartburn city round here. And terribly farty too. Nobody mentioned that bit to me. Also got blood when blowing my nose. Cold hands and feet are pretty normal for me though.

Gone off chocolate which is a good thing. It makes me feel a bit queasy just thinking of it...Developing a dependency on mini cheddar crinkles I think.

Saundy · 22/03/2013 06:14

Morning All!

I seem to have vanished off the stats list too, can I go back on please? Useless phone! I think a few might be missing.

Saundy EDD 8/11/13 Baby no1

I have to agree putting your foot down about the scan was defo the right thing to do. No point in pretending its ok when it isn't, that'll only cause fights later. I think one of the first things I said to DP whilst in the grips of BFP panic was "if you miss a single appt I'll never forgive you!" (Not that he would) but best to let everyone know where they stand!

I was so looking forward to a lie in today but apparently my body had other ideas.

I also wish I'd weighed myself when I got my bfp as I've no idea if I'm gaining weight or not, when does that start? Am dreading the first part when you can't really tell its pregnancy weight. I've not really eat any more than I usually do (apart from trying to make sure I east breakfast & dinner every day) but I'm guessing your body just stores more & the weight goes on anyway? Think I'll have another crack at the exercise DVD today, might even get past the warm up this time!

getoffthecoffeetable · 22/03/2013 06:36

honey so glad you're feeling better.

How're you doing suffolk?

Am feeling like a new woman after going to bed at nine last night. DS still up at 5.20am but I feel so much better today. Fingers crossed it lasts.
