Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

Fantastic news Bona - congratulations!

Mama your little man looks gorgeous. You must be so proud - he has come such a long way x x

Trishstar · 20/03/2013 12:17

Aaaaw congrats Bona! Great weight! Xx is he fitting in newborn or 0-3? xxx

photochick · 20/03/2013 12:52

Saw the midwife yesterday and all good Smile. Baby apparently 2/5ths engaged which might account for the pains I have been getting low down in my bump / pelvis.

Can anyone recommend a good hypnobirthing CD? I have some good yoga birthing CD's but would like to have something else to listen to!

LikeCandy · 20/03/2013 13:01

Congrats bona!

growyourown77 · 20/03/2013 13:15

Congrats Bona, a great weight!

JoRich77 · 20/03/2013 13:33

Hi photochick I can recommend Maggie Howell Natal Hynotheraphy CD's. I have been using the effective birth preparation one. Also have the Labour Companion one but not listened to it yet.

www.amazon.co.uk/Effective-Birth-Preparation-Hospital-Centre/dp/1905220502/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363786301&sr=8-1

This is my first baby so I guess cant really vouch until had the baby is here and I have had the clam relaxing birth I dream of! Seen good reviews on here though which is why I got them.

You can often pick up cheaper on Ebay

Congrats Bona!

Congratulations bona! And well done to cute lil Alex!

Consultant was happy with me today, they booked my appt incase I go overdue, I really hope not still pregnant in 4 weeks time but if I am that's when they will arrange my induction date.

Am in so much pain from all the walking though, nearly cried on way home, am off codeine now and the pain from walking around is just awful, I feel sorry for oh having to put up with me.

bext · 20/03/2013 15:11

Bona massive congrats! Great weight as well!

And Mama, so pleased Alex is doing so well.

And on a less cute subject, Wishful I'm definitely with you on the swollen bits. Apparently it's completely normal and just due to the extra blood we have flowing round our system. Mine get a bit sore as well, like they're being squashed and rubbed. Just another joy of pregnancy, huh?!

SneezySnatcher · 20/03/2013 16:15

Hello!

Congratulations on your new arrival Bona and well done Alex!

Another vote for the Maggie Howell CD. I didn't use it for my last labour but this time around I'm finding it nice and relaxing. It remains to be seen how effective it'll be on D Day though!

I'm shattered today. Woke up at 3.30 am in complete agony with an excruciating cramp in my calf. I was screaming and poor DH had no idea what was going on! I've never had anything like it and hope I never do again. That leg is still sore now!

I've made up for my lazy day yesterday by taking DD to the museum and then for lunch and swimming. I'm making the most of being able to go for a civilised coffee without worrying about where to feed/change a baby!

I managed to swim a fair bit so I'm allowing myself a tub of creme egg ice cream while I bounce on my ball! MIL has DD until tomorrow now and DH won't be in for a while, so nobody will find out!

birdbrain17 · 20/03/2013 16:39

sneezy I've had that with my leg a few times, I literally wake up crying it's so painful and it still hurts the next morning. I know it will really hurt to do it but flexing the foot back and forth will get rid of the cramp that it doesn't still hurt the next day. I asked my GP if there was anything I could do, he said he's heard having a glass of tonic water before bed might help. Lots of sympathy!

congratulations bonadea and well done alex and mama1980 it's getting closer now :)

Have updated the stats thread. 9 boys and 3 girls. 12 Arrivals and 114 to go!

SneezySnatcher · 20/03/2013 17:36

birdbrain good tip about the tonic water - I wonder if a few ml of gin will help too?!!! Grin

Teapig · 20/03/2013 18:19

Congratulations bona! Wishing you a speedy recovery and welcome to your new arrival.

mama that is truly amazing progress. A huge well done to little Alex!

sneezy and bird I've had those terrible leg cramps too. It's happened a few times usually when I'm watching tv in the evening or in the middle of the night when I've been asleep. Last week I woke up screaming for DH to help point my toes to my nose as I couldn't do it the pain was so bad. DH was half asleep and proceeded to try to lift my leg up above my head which was agony! I screamed a few choice words which seemed to properly wake DH up! Think I will give the gin and tonic cure a go, thanks for the tip.

I've finished work so no more working and commuting for a good few months, woohoo Grin Grin Grin Hope your last day went well bird

Giddypants · 20/03/2013 20:00

Well done little Alex such an amazing boy, will look at the tube free boy after I've posted Grin

Congratulations bona hope the recovery from the section is speedy

My bits are looking a bit sorry for themselves too Blush swollen, but I think they go back to normal afterwards.

On the count down now for my section only 6 days to go Shock getting a bit nervous now, I'm really scared I'm going to say something really stupid when they show him to me like, oh has he just come out of me (I have form for saying stupid things) when I woke up from the anaesthetic from having DS I said he's a bit early I think he needs to go back in Hmm I blame the morphine!

Crikey it's all go!

Don't think I can properly name check but:

bona, congratulations! Glad he's a nice healthy weight.

Mama that's wonderful news! I can't believe how he's progressed. I hope you'll be home very soon.

My undercarriage has been swelling on and off for weeks especially after sex which is becoming increasingly tricky I believe it's just about increased blood flow to the area. A cold compress seems to help mine!

Congratulations to those who started leave. I have two shifts/15 hours to work! Roll on Friday at 3pm :)

I have been rolling on my gym ball and trying to turn this baby round but the lump is still by my belly button. I suspect I'll be scanned next week!

enjay0811 · 20/03/2013 21:26

Congrats to all the new arrivals! I've been following on fb, keep showin dh the pics as can't quite believe our bump will b a baby soon!

Is anyone else feelin very emotional atm? I'm not usually the sort to show it but I jst wanna cry at everything lately! Including how horrible I'm bein to dh and dd's Sad I'm in such a bad mood, don't no if it's tiredness or jst bloody hormones. Feelin crap and slightly petrified tht I'm not goin to be able to cope with 3dc's. Sorry for the whinge girls, jst hope I will feel a bit brighter soon.

EssexWelsh · 20/03/2013 22:04

Congrats bona.

Fabulous news Mama and gorgeous pic on Facebook, he looks just perfect!

Photo I too have been doing Maggie Howell's hypno birthing CD, has got me into a great head space and I'm really not normally into hippy sort of 'therapy' but feeling very positive about labour and it also helps when I can't sleep at night. Wait to see if this continues once I'm actually in labour!

Just thoroughly enjoyed OBEM, 3 great couples/women tonight and 3 very different births which has been lacking this series.

Trishstar · 21/03/2013 01:57

Can't sleep, feel sick, bump is hard and hurting and I can't get comfortable Confused

Sorry for the mememe

Flosshilde · 21/03/2013 07:40

Thanks to everyone for kind messages here and on FB. Is hard to be more than brief on my phone as it is crap but will catch up with you all when we get home - later on this morning! Grin

Fluffeh · 21/03/2013 07:54

Congratulations bona that's a fantastic weight!

faith that you can still manage to enjoy sex makes me envious. Last time we tried I gave up because I feel like a paralysed whale what with the hips, pelvis, heartburn and random leg cramps. It was definitely not enjoyable :(.

I saw my midwife yesterday and hopefully she's going to be able to be the main mw at my section! It would be amazing if she can. I'd have someone I trust in theatre on the medical side and I like her so its be good to have someone I like and trust to clean, measure and wrap the baby as I won't be able to.
She's also going to talk with the post natal ward manager to see if they can arrange for my DP to stay with me over night. I'd feel a heck of a lot more secure if he could, I'm scared of the post natal ward being really busy and not being able to get the help I'll need to change/feed/locate the baby. Getting to bathrooms/food areas is going to be a challenge too. I'd have to wait for someone to be free to guide me. Hopefully DP can stay and make the mws and nurses jobs easier :).

Mama1980 · 21/03/2013 09:02

Morning all,
Floss-great you are going home, Smile

Fluffeh-I hope they do allow your dp to stay with you, I imagine they would here they can exercise a certain amount of flexibility with visitors etc. I hope its the same with your hospital.

Alex had another great day/night he's sleeping on me right now, will be getting him dressed and bathed in a minute, he seems to love the water but gets very excited Grin so it tires him quickly. We are seeing the dr after today so fingers crossed we get a discharge date! I had a meet with the physio/hv outreach team who will be visiting me everyday to start with, nothing to do with Alex just to check how my body Is holding up and I have to have physio every other day.
I sent one of Alex's baby grows home to the dog yesterday so she can get used to it, she and ds1 are totally inseparable so fingers crossed she loves Alex too. My mum did offer to take her but I really want my family together I also have a cat and tortoise so its gonna be interesting-I can't wait!

photochick · 21/03/2013 11:09

Loving all the baby updates and hearing about the new arrivals Smile.

enjay I am totally there with you. Seem to be in a constantly foul mood not helped by feeling so tired and emotional all the time. Feel enormous, everthing is becoming more difficult / uncomfortable and hardly anything fits anymore which makes getting dressed and coming to work a challenge! See, I must be a joy to live with!!

Faith impressed - I we gave up on sex a long time ago! Feel a bit bad for DH!

Thanks you for all the suggestions - I am going to order a Maggie Howell CD today. Seem to be paranoid atm that this baby is going to come any minute and need to relax not constantly symptom watch and stress we are not ready!

growyourown77 · 21/03/2013 11:33

Faith I'm with you...roll on tomorrow as the last day working! What have you got planned for the weekend? We're having a posh pub lunch with friends to celebrate the start of mat leave and DH has the week off next week. So we can do some 'nesting' and garden projects, plus some nice lunches and dinners out. I might treat myself to a massage or pedicure.

Teapig hurrah for not commuting anymore! Put your feet up girl!

enjay i've been dead teary this week, quite out of the blue. And just snapped at the UPS delivery man for knocking impatiently on the door - I'm a parody of the emotional pregnant woman. Don't worry too much, you'll be fine, it'll just ebb and flow. Smile

Trish thanks for the stats update...114 to go - definitely a baby boom! I was so uncomfy this morning at 3am I got up and made a huge nest of pillows and blankets on the sofa and chilled out there - seemed to be better than tossing and turning upstairs keeping hubby awake.

There's a sliver of sun shining through so i'm going to pop out to the garden and have a potter for 20 mins and get some sun on my face!
