Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

bext I would like to be bought a baby bjorn baby seat if they were feeling generous, or maybe some nice baby blankets. If you wanted to have more of an heirloom what about a steiff teddy or a nice silver picture frame to put a first photo in?

rabbitfrommars · 19/03/2013 16:56

I've been looking at the Steiff newborn bear at Hamley (it goes in the washing machine), we're planing on putting it in our bed before the baby arrives so it will smell of us and help comfort baby.

Just a quickie to say gro swaddles are only £3 in Tk maxx! :)

Ollibobs · 19/03/2013 18:01

bext what about something you will need in a few months time? My office treated me to a lovely high chair that we'll need when the baby is a bit older. It was so thoughtful and will be one less thing we need to buy when I'm on maternity pay.

Teapig · 19/03/2013 18:13

Just a quick question, how much bouncing are people doing on their birthing balls ahead of labour? I've been given one and had thought it was just for labour but heard that it can be good to use in pregnancy to strengthen tummy muscles/help posture though at 35+6 I may be too late for it to do anything very useful.

I'm also cracking open the raspberry leaf tablets this week which feels like a bit of milestone.

Thanks for the TK Maxx tip fluff.

bext, I'd second something you might need in a few months time if you have everything you need for the early days.

SneezySnatcher · 19/03/2013 18:33

Teapig I'm sitting/bouncing on the ball lots. DD was b2b and this baby is at the moment so I'd love it if he turned. Basically I'm avoiding sitting on the sofa completely and just sitting on the ball. When I can be bothered I'm also rocking and making circles. Sometimes I 'drape' myself over it as it's a good way of getting babies to move from b2b.

I've been on the RLT since 31 weeks (as I was with DD) as I was only pushing for 15 mins and it might possibly have been down to the tea! I'm now on 4 cups a day (built up from one).

I've also started having 6 dates a day as I've heard they help with labour!

usernamegoeshere · 19/03/2013 19:34

Gah, I somehow got railroaded into health visitor home visit tomorrow at 9.30 followed by consultant at hospital at 11.30 it's snowing and horrible and both appointments were only arranged today. Now I'm all stressy and oh is moaning that I'm too passive with these people and need to get proper notice.

Dysgu · 19/03/2013 20:30

Gosh, I was just looking at that Baby Bjorn Balance Seat - it looks fab but I would not want to spend so much money for the baby to mess it up!! Evan will have to be happy with the second hand rocking baby seat he has been bought (and at least he will not know any different so won't know what wonderful things he is missing out on!)

I think I might see if I can pop into TKMaxx tomorrow and have a look at the swaddles - at that price they would be good even if Evan is not s swaddler! So far he has only had a nappy and has never been covered up so he might turn out to be another child who is difficult to get clothes on (both DDs will strip off at the drop of the hat and spend most of their time running around the house in their underwear Grin )

user I know how hard it is when you get back-to-back appointments. I seem to have done nothing all day but bounce between appointments for me, Evan and DD2. They were all made at different times in my case but they just happened to be on the same day in the end - and it was a day when my DMum also had appointments so could not help.

Also, for those people who are still a few weeks away from baby arrivals, is anyone interested in some herbal stuff that I have got but did not use: raspberry leaf capsules (for preparing cervix for labour), fenugreek capsules (for aiding milk supply) and fennel tea (for aiding milk supply). The capsules have been opened but only because DD2 wanted to see what they were. If anyone wants them, they are free to good home - just PM me your address. I also have an unopened bottle of witch hazel if anyone is interested - my delivery was so quick that although I tore, I am healing really well and ave had no pain so have not even opened the witch hazel. Again, let me know if you are interested...

And congratulations (I did post on FB) to Floss - little Xavier is gorgeous! Smile

leluella · 19/03/2013 20:46

Bext

My work are throwing me a baby shower tomorrow and have collected £120 and asked me what I would like. OH suggested a car seat but I think presents should be a bit more on the frivolous side rather than the practical. My list ended up being a mix of both ;

BT baby monitor
White company blanket
White company wooden push along elephant (cute for nursery)
Ewan the dream sheep ( this looks fab and get are ally good reviews for helping to settle babies)
any cute clothes

bext · 19/03/2013 23:32

Thanks for all the ideas everyone, really helpful Smile.
Hope everyone gets a decent nights sleep. x

MonkeyBlossom · 20/03/2013 00:50

Arrghh, can't sleep, heartburn, awkward baby position, PGP, can'tget comfortable.general raaahh.

36 days to go.

Hope everyone else is having a good
sleep. :)

Oh its LyndaLoo, namechanged to something less identifiable.

Teapig · 20/03/2013 08:16

Thanks for the advice sneezy, I will get the ball out tonight.

Re raspberry leaf tea I have the capsules from Holland and Barratt. They say to take 3-6 a day, 6 sounds like quite a lot. What dosage are others taking? I'm starting off with three and thinking of building up to 6 the nearer I get to due date.

monkey sounds like you had a horrible night, I hope it passes and you can get some rest today.

36 weeks today and my last day at work before annual/mat leave is finally here!

Mama1980 · 20/03/2013 08:57

Morning all,
Thank so much fluffeh for you lovely words.
I don't want to sound flippant or minimalist or anything but I'm not really worried abut his sight - my grandad has been blind half his life, it has never held him back, he can tell who's approaching by the footsteps etc. and at 86 lives fully independently. It would just be part of who Alex is. I hope that makes sense.
We have had another night of feeding almost constantly, my boobs are just enormous, the great news is he seems to be draining them every time so I'm hoping my supply will begin to even out. He has his weigh in today and if he's put on weight they will remove the tube!Grin Will hopefully update with the good news later.
Hope everyone else is well.

birdbrain17 · 20/03/2013 09:03

Yay it's my last day at work today! I thought it would never come, I remember looking at the calander when I first found out I was pg and thinking that would be a good time to leave and then I've spent weeks thinking I'm mad to be leaving it so long, but I'm still at work and didn't have the baby early so I'm quite pleased Smile
have a great day!
37+2

JoRich77 · 20/03/2013 09:46

Bext I got given a sheepskin cover for pram/car seat which is something I would never have brought. Aparently is good in both winter and summer and keeps Bub both warm and cool..

wishfulthinking1 · 20/03/2013 10:09

Hi all,
mama - more great news- it just keeps coming!

teapig and bird- woohoo, last day at work!! Enjoy!

I'm really sorry to write this ladies- but am far too embarrassed to ask any friends irl. My 'bits' are quite swollen! I haven't seen myself for ages because of the bump- but was a bit itchy today so looked with a mirror and really upset myself- my inner labia are all dark and swollen, and sort of hanging out Blush.

They're not massively itchy, and I don't seem to have any weird discharge, so I don't think it's thrush. Weird favour alert- can you all go and look at your fanjos and report back! Is it just me?

I'm seeing mw tomorrow so will ask about it then! Sorry if that's far TMI for so early in the morning!!

X

Mama1980 · 20/03/2013 10:41

5lbs 2oz and the tube is out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GrinMy beautiful baby has for the first time in his life no tubes, needles or medical intervention.
I am in total awe of him Smile

JoRich77 · 20/03/2013 11:04

Hi wishful , I too have been embarrassed about this. My bits down there look all different and feel swollen. Everything just looks much larger than normal, and not half as neat and tidy as it used to look. Am wondering if this is permanent and something am just have to get used to..aghh

JoRich77 · 20/03/2013 11:05

Oh forgot to say Mama, how exciting, you must be sooo proud of little Alex!

rabbitfrommars · 20/03/2013 11:07

Mama1980 that's great news Grin

Fluffeh · 20/03/2013 11:27

Amazing news mama! And you don't sound flippant at all :).
Hopefully you'll both be on your way home soon too!

bird and teapig hope you both enjoy your last day at work :).

I'm feeling all sorry for myself because I stupidly walked around Preston for 4 hours yesterday and can't move today without serious pain. Grocery shopping is cancelled lol but I have a mw appt this afternoon, thankfully a home visit, so I'll ask her about support belts, exercises etc to try and improve it.
Only 4 weeks and 4 days till I meet my baby yay!

BonaDea · 20/03/2013 11:43

Woo hoo Mama, so pleased for you that baby Alex is going it alone with no nasty medical interference now. Fantastic!

We have a beautiful baby boy who was delivered by c section late last night. He doesn't have a name yet but is perfect. He weighed in at 7lbs 11 oz which was great given I was induced for supposedly having a big baby!!

Anyway sorry if I have managed to post this twice. Brain addled from staying up all night to watch the rise and fall of my baby's chest and look at his general awesomeness Grin

growyourown77 · 20/03/2013 11:44

Great news mama! Well done little Alex. Smile

growyourown77 · 20/03/2013 11:45

wishful when I got DH to trim down there the other week we noticed that it's all a bit puffy looking - I put it down to hormones and blood flow.
