Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

user that is not good enough. You will probably be fine to wait a few weeks for an appt (assuming low risk?) BUT you should really get seen earlier, you need your bloods done for example so your new hospital have your blood group just in case and you need to know who to ring if you have any concerns etc.

I am moving at 39+4 and have a 'booking in' appt with my new MW for bloods etc at 39+5 already booked. I would ring and ask to speak to the MW directly to discuss the appt, I suspect this is just a lot of admin nonsense & the MW doesn't know.

aww jessie sending you lots of sympathy and hugs Brew Thanks try to go to sleep! You're going to need lots of energy later and if your DH isn't there you might as well sleep now so you can spend time together later before the baby arrives...
good luck and looking out for positive updates x

wishfulthinking1 · 07/03/2013 21:12

mama - you've been through such a lot. Don't let your partner rush you into any sort of decision about anything.

jesse eeeek!!! How are you feeling? X

edinfirst · 07/03/2013 21:17

Hi Jessie, just checking in for virtual hand holding. Have to plug in my phone as battery is about to go but then I'll be back...

num3onway · 07/03/2013 21:23

Ooh exciting a baby!
Not much going on at this end, had one or two painful bh but nothing else!
Good luck!

JessieEssex · 07/03/2013 21:27

Thanks all. Feels like I'm just sitting in bed slowly wetting myself. Lovely. Think I just had a small contraction, have been having strong BHs all day but this was...different. Excited, scared but don't feel ready at all. But then, would I ever?! Am going to try and have a bit of a snooze but not sure how well that's going to go...

SneezySnatcher · 07/03/2013 21:32

Jessie good luck!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 07/03/2013 21:34

Ooh jessie! What have you got to entertain you? When I was in hospital last year I needed variation. I paid the extortionate fee for the tv, had a book to dip into, MN, played games on my phone.

mama I can't imagine how tough it is to be away from Alex but you need to focus on getting better. Just rest and get well.

I've had a nice day - been to see an old friend and then did a few more bits of shopping - couple of things for the baby (had a panic I hadn't bought anything small enough so bought a couple of 'first size' baby grows) and some eek elasticated waist jeans to wear after birth so I have variation from maternity stuff!

aufaniae that sounds like a lot! Do you have any friends/family to lean on?

33+2

toobreathless · 07/03/2013 21:38

jessie sorry missed your post a moment ago. good luck! I did most of the labour with DD on my own as I was on antenatal in my own room and it was the middle of the night & it didn't occur to me (or the MWs Hmm ) to call him back in! Actually was fine and I found it quite easy to get 'in the zone'. Just think of your beautiful baby, every contraction/tightening brings your baby that bit closer!

Jessie and Mama, hang on in there both of you. Hate to think of you both in your hospital beds a bit lonely, and frustrated in your case, Mama. I really hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you can get that boy back in your arms. And have the strength to make your own decision about seeing DP again. You are so strong, you're just having an off day Sad
And Jessie it must be a bit daunting but I hope you manage to get some rest and the night passes ok. We're all out here thinking about youSmile

JaquelineHyde · 07/03/2013 21:44

Mama I know it's not a good as a hug from Alexander but here is a very un-MN hug from me ((((hug)))) Hang in there, I'm thinking of you and sending good vibes.

Jessie Good vibes being sent over to you as well. I can't believe we are only a week into March and we have another lady set to meet her bump. Try and get as much rest as you can now so that you have all the strength you need for active labour. Good luck Smile

Boring uneventful day here, after 3 days of non stop stuff, utter exhaustion and no sleep I have spent the entire day in my pyjamas on the sofa.

I keep getting hot flushes and have had period pain type cramps all day. I don't think they are interelated or anything to do with anything starting but they are bloody annoying an dmaking me feel sick.

That little whinge makes me feel much better, thank you Grin

Mama1980 · 07/03/2013 21:55

Thanks everyone
Jessie-am here for a virtual hand hold and sending good thoughts your way. Remember everything is bringing you one step closer to meeting your gorgeous baby. I Will check in when I can but I've just be told off for mumsnetting instead of sleeping -oops Grin but I am thinking of you x

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 07/03/2013 22:16

Good luck Jessie, try and get some rest. I remember being lonely on the antenatal ward but would def try and get some sleep. One of the midwives told me that lying down with your eyes closed and doing some relaxing breathing/counting is the next best thing to sleep. You might even doze off of an hour or so. Big hugs to you.

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 07/03/2013 22:19

Mama everyone is allowed an off day, especially you! Stay strong for yourself and your little one and don't give your partner any head space as you need all your energy for yourself right now. Sending you positive vibes. Thanks

MrsB76 · 07/03/2013 22:19

Jessie, so exciting! Try to get some sleep if your contractions are not too strong yet.

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 07/03/2013 22:22

And to everyone else, I can add to our misery. On my ticklist I have at the moment, a headache, sinusitis, cholestasis, piles Blush very painful piles actually, diarrhoea due to the antibiotics I'm on, can't seem to sleep for more than an hour at a time, have done nothing beauty wise for few weeks now as have felt rubbish so now look rubbish too. And still havent packed my hospital bag or got Moses basket and car seat out of loft but I do have about 400 nappies so not a total failure

Dysgu · 07/03/2013 22:38

Jessie hopefully you will manage to get some sleep so that you are ready and have some energy for when things really start moving along. One of the 'techniques' i find quite useful when I am struggling to sleep (I usually manage about 2 hours at a stretch now) is to start with your feet and move up tour body, tensing and relaxing and then trying to imagine that you are so relaxed that the part of your body you are focused on has actually disappeared! Is a good way to block out everything else that is filling your mind, even if it doesn't get you to sleep.

Mama it sounds like you are having a tough time (again) and I hope the Antibiotics kick in soon. At least you have your family who can be in with Alex too. And, even though it must be so hard not to be able to see him yourself, I imagine you would prefer it to be you having a knock back than him. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you.

Sneezy the spa day sounds lovely. My DSis gave me a voucher to cover the cost of a pregnancy massage day at a local spa. It is not really my kind of thing but I am thinking I might phone up and book it for next week - would be nice to relax and I can't feel too bad about my body being a big, lumpy, pale, blotchy thing because I am, after all, very pregnant!

User I hope you have a better day tomorrow too. There are days when everything seems like too much effort - even when things are actually going quite well. So of course you can be allowed a 'bad' day when you can't seem to get any proper answers. I would suggest calling the MW or even the ante natal unit and asking to speak to a MW to see what they suggest.

My day has been quiet - I tried to sleep this morning and managed an hour or so. Woke up with an aching right arm following yesterday's whooping cough jab but has been fine for the rest of the day. Made good progress packing bag(s) for hospital (small one for labour, bigger one if I stay in, baby bag for baby) but still need to think about what to do for DDs in case things kick off during a school day.

Bump has shifted and feels very low and seems to be pushing against my groin most of the time. DDs think it is funny to watch it poke its bum out just where my belly button is/used to be! I find lying in the bath really strange as it moves around and when I move, my tummy makes some VERY odd shapes!

Hope all else are well.

Jessie GrinGrinGrin huge congrats! I hope your DH made it back in time!
That is fantastic news.

JessieEssex · 08/03/2013 05:25

Thanks! Labour was about 5 hours in total, all a bit rushed. DH only made it back for the last 20 minutes as the midwife on the antenatal ward refused to examine me, thinking I was in early labour. When she finally did, I was 9cm and rushed to the labour ward!

Penelope (think we'll call her Nell for now) is utterly gorgeous with a scattering of blonde hair. She is currently fast asleep on me, having snuffly milky dreams. Can't wait for DD1 (DD1! I have 2 DDs!) to meet her. xx

Sorry for mememe but I'm sure I'll be forgiven this once...

JessieEssex · 08/03/2013 06:18
