Over here Ladies!

As the title suggests our fore runners will almost certainly hit 37 weeks this thread.

And the wonderful little Alex will hopefully continue to go from strength to strength and edge closer to the door home with Mama

Morning all wow this is moving so fast I can barely keep up.
Thinking of you floss and Jessie- so exciting!
Turns out I have a lung infection- I'm feeling ok apart from coughing and am being blasted with I've antibiotics-they don't want to take any chances since I was ventilated.
Not seeing Alex is frustrating especially as he's ready to try the breast but I know we can't take any chances. My family are being with him-so at least he's not alone. I am seriously starting to worry That Alex will be ready t be discharged before me- I feel so weak. They keep reminding me I've been through a massive trauma and need time but grrrrr I just want to get home and on with my life. Work are being great thank goodness a massive bunch of flowers arrived from them this morning which was very sweet.
Thinking of you all x

num3onway · 07/03/2013 10:15

Anyone else getting massively frustrated at how little they can do without needing a break? Determined to get on with sorting house today but having to have a sit down already. I've almost cleared the babies room but still need to take down DS2s old toddler bed and store it somewhere, room needs hoovering, some toys to find homes for and then there are still two walls to be painted before cot etc can go up. I seperated from my partner recently so this is a one woman job. But I need to pee every five mins well I don't I just feel like I do! And get so out of breath! But I will will will have this house sorted before our little one arrives!

LikeCandy · 07/03/2013 10:27

Jessie ooh how exciting! keep calm and keep us posted. good luck :)

aufaniae it'll all be worth it, keep telling yourself that!! when babe is in your arms you won't worry about where you are. your DH sounds like a real trooper!

Heres the mememe bit...
At my last routine antenatal appointment I found out incidentally that I have preeclampsia! (m/w initially thought my BP was high as I thought my waters had gone)
This means I am now 'high risk', so no home birth, I'll need an extra scan for growth & to assess the placenta, I will be on beta-blockers until baby is born and I'm likely to be induced before my due date.
I would never have guessed I had PE. Fat hands and feet and legs have been fairly normal for me for weeks and m/w have never been concerned. Same with headaches and blurred vision (I even saw GP who told me it was migraines!).
So ladies (especially you GYO!) - get checked out, don't wait for routine appointments of you are feeling at all 'different'!

I hope everyone else is having a less 'exciting' time!

Thanks for the wrap sling suggestions - I'm not looking to spend a fortune so will have a look at the suggested suppliers.

At the risk of sounding like my mum, ladies, please look after yourselves. I know it feels like we are up against time but there are not many things that cannot be put off till tomorrow, or at least till after a tea / snack / sit down / wee break x

I just about managed to cut my toe nails, have a trim downstairs, shave my legs and put a pair of tights on this morning. Have a feeling it might be the last time for all of those things for a while!!

Finally, a question - I know my baby has not arrived yet but do I qualify for mothers day? Having this debate with my DH!

Trishstar · 07/03/2013 12:07

Jessie good luck! Keep us updated when/if you can!

Ladies advice please I had paid for/ordered the easy base 2 for my maxi cosi cabriofix Carseat but now debating whether to pay the extra for the family fix base so it can fit the maxi cosi pearl when little man is bigger?

Ooh! How exciting! Good luck to those having contractions!

A question for the cat owners out there: what are you doing to stop the cats climbing into the crib/Moses basket? Is a cat net worth getting? Any recommendations?

JessieEssex · 07/03/2013 13:21

Quick update - I'm not in labour, but the bleed is coming from inside the uterus, so I'm being kept in hospital for monitoring until the morning. Baby is fine, have had two traces and nothing of concern. Perhaps a small placental abruption? Bleeding has slowed down and if there's no more by the morning I can go home. Feeling a bit freaked out, and I guess I'm no longer low-risk (so no birthing unit) but as long as the baby is ok, I don't mind. DH is being fab, has gone to get lunch. Missing DD already :(

MrsB76 · 07/03/2013 13:27

Ollibobs, we have a very social Siamese cat who always wants to sit in your lap / sleep in your bed. When we brought our eldest daughter home, she just looked at the baby then disdainfully walked away. Never tried to climb into basket or cot. Cats don't really like children, mine still runs away when the kids (ages 3 and 6) try to play with her. Interestingly, the cat somehow senses that children are different, because she scratches me when she doesn't like something, but she never once scratched the kids, even when they pulled her ears etc. Just meaow'd pitifully and tried to get away.

Trishstar · 07/03/2013 13:44

Hope everything will all be well Jess, sending lots of love x

birdbrain17 · 07/03/2013 14:01

wow jess that sounds a bit scary, hope everything is okay.

I went to mothercare yesterday to get fitted for a nursing bra, saw a really lovely assistant she measured me and then told me to buy 2 cup sizes up, as 1 size up didn't give that much extra room. I tried it on and she said it was fine, so I bought a pack of two so I have something to take with to the hospital and then I plan on looking for nicer ones online when I'm ready to start getting dressed again properly after birth Wink but when I got home and checked the size of what I'd been fitted with at the beginning of pregnancy the nursing bras are only one size bigger then I officially was then, I've just been letting the back of my bra out on an extender as hadn't managed to go again during pregnancy to be refitted...but now it's making me think the nursing bras I bought are going to be too small as I'm only just fitting into the cups of the bras I bought at the beginning of pregnancy....
Hope that rant makes sense I'm just looking for advice of people who have bf before as I don't really know what will happen to my cup size once milk comes in?!!?!??!?!?

tattooedapril87 · 07/03/2013 14:28

birdbrain i can't really answer your question other than to tell you i tried to get measured yesterday and mothercare lady said i need to wait until 38weeks as it will be more accurate...

MrsB76 · 07/03/2013 14:31

Ouch Jessie, hope you are well! Good luck!

Trishstar · 07/03/2013 14:41

Birdbrain I only got one nursing bra.

Beginning of pregnancy I was 32GG, currently 34H and got measured and predicted to go to a 34HH when milk comes in. I always go to bravissimo and they have said if I leave tags on and it doesn't fit when milk comes in I can exchange it. Xx

growyourown77 · 07/03/2013 15:20

I just came back form a BFing class and the mw said to only get one feeding bra before baby arrives, as boobs will go up as the milk comes in then down a bit as it settles and get measured properly for nursing bras about 4-6 weeks later.

Mama1980 · 07/03/2013 15:29

Thinking of you Jessie hope all is well xxx

birdbrain17 · 07/03/2013 16:47

thanks for the advice tattooted in mothercare they told me to come at 36 weeks to be fitted for it Confused I guess it's good I haven't bought anything expensive then, and if theyre no good for feeding at least I'll have two comfy sleep bras as most of my normal ones are wired...

birdbrain17 · 07/03/2013 16:47

sorry just to note the thanks for advice it to everyone...not just tattooed Blush

JaquelineHyde · 07/03/2013 17:15

Jessie I hope everything settles down over night and you can go home tomorrow. Enjoy the rest whilst you can get it.

Nursing bras are scaring me, I am usually a 46D (I was 52E but my boobs shrank when I lost weight) but no shops go up to my back size so I can't try any out before buying.

Does anyone know of a decent online shop that I could use to get a 48DD nursing bra?

wishfulthinking1 · 07/03/2013 17:30

Hi all-
Eeek- it's all beginning to kick off now ladies! Talk of bloody shows and contractions is making everything a bit more real!

We had our appointment with our consultant today- she really couldn't have been any nicer. She said that in her experience, some women who are very active, when they slow down/ stop work then their babies get bigger because of more blood flow going to the uterus rather than the legs / other limbs. We have another growth scan booked for Monday, she said that if growth has continued to slow then she would insist I stopped working, but that if it were her, she'd stop now if she could- as it might help. DH said he thought, in that case, that I should stop- so I spoke to head teacher and she agreed- she was lovely- so that's that- I'm on maternity leave!

I want to get excited about it, but it feels very weird- I wasn't planning on finishing for another week and a day- I've left things unfinished, which I hate. But I'm sure it was the right decision- it just feels weird though. The consultant said not bed rest, but plenty of relaxing with feet up.

(She also said that human error can occur and I might find on Monday that everything's fine, and that the last scan was inaccurate- but it's not a risk DH wanted to take). She said if growth on Monday was slow then they'd discuss extra monitoring / early induction- but going to try not to think about that until Monday.

Phew- very mememe- sorry- it's just been such a whirlwind day!!

Regarding nursing bras- a lady in m and s told me to come back a couple of weeks before baby was due to be measured. Good advice about just getting one and leaving labels on!

mrs s - I've not posted since the break in- but have been reading updates. What compete shits! Hope you're feeling better xxx

jesse - hope you get some rest in hospital

mama - hope the anti biotics kick in soon.

P.s. I'm not on the Facebook group but someone mentioned unthread the someone else had had a baby- suspense is killing me- help me out!!
X

num3onway · 07/03/2013 17:54

Oh I would hate to have to stay in hospital without my little ones ut you should be home soon touch wood!

SneezySnatcher · 07/03/2013 19:58

Jess hoping the monitoring goes well and you can be home soon.

Birdbrain last time, my bra size didn't change after my milk came in, but I've left the tags in two bras and am only using one just in case. I am a difficult size (30J) so can't find them cheaply anywhere - hence the wait and see approach!

mama hope you feel better soon.

The spa day was amazing and I feel thoroughly relaxed. The pregnancy massage was divine and I had a facial and (finally) got my eyebrows shaped and tinted, so I'm feeling good.

usernamegoeshere · 07/03/2013 20:12

Thanks for all the raspberry tea advice!

Jess I hope hospital not too annoying, least its a little rest!

I'm a hormonal wreck today, spent all morning crying and been generally rageful since, although my income support is messed up now as living with partner (apparently I'm the first pregnant women to move in with partner ever, so they had to suspend all payments while they decide what to do) and I phoned to chase appts with new midwives (I saw one last week but am not officially booked in yet etc) but apparently will be a few more weeks to process me even though I'm obviously much further on than most women booking in... I suppose if I do go into labour will just show up at whatever hospital takes my fancy and be seen then...

Add to that, I'm not sleeping, crying constantly, headachey, aching everywhere, missing my family and concerned baby flipped breach last night and its a bad week!

Sorry for all the meme ranting, mama I hope you start to perk up soon and same for all others having bad weeks!

Mama1980 · 07/03/2013 20:20

Thanks everyone,
Wishful-sounds like you made the right decision, I hope all goes well on Monday.
Sneezy-spa day sounds heaven glad you are feeling great.
Jessie-thinking of you
I'm not having one of my better days, the fight just seems to have drained out of me tonight. My mum bought me up a video of Alex, said he was looking for me and missing me- I just want my baby. And my 'partner' has asked if I want to see him. I don't know what to say to that, a small part of me just wants to cry and have him tell me everything will be ok. Except it won't and i won't don't worry I'm stronger than that but it would be nice right now.
So sorry for the me me me post but I'm just lying here watching my drip drip and literally ache to old my baby.

JessieEssex · 07/03/2013 21:07

Thanks for all your good wishes, ladies. Looks like I won't be going home in the morning - waters went about 20 minutes ago with an audible 'pop'! Having tightenings but no pains yet. DH has gone home as visiting hours are over and he can't come back until I'm on the labour ward.
Feeling a bit scared and alone - keep me company please!!

JessieEssex · 07/03/2013 21:09

And mama I'm so sorry you're having a crap day. I'm going stir crazy having been in hospital for 10 hours, I can't begin to imagine what you're going through xx
