Faith that was exactly my birth plan with the addition of a planned water birth, although I didn't get past paracetamol and gas and air because it was so quick.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 19:32

Sadly no water birth option for me because the pool at the hospital won't be built in time. There is one at the next hospital over but it's an hours drive and I don't think they'd let me give birth there because its MW led and obviously there's still a risk what with the codiene consumption. Also if I'm going to be in for 48 hours I want MSB to be up the road not an hour away! Maybe next time....next time I'm hankering for a home water birth!!

I am suddenly having panicks that Pickle will have health problems or disabilities. Is this normal?!

33 is not too young bluesy!

Can I ask you all a question? Did you have the NT test at your 12 week scan? I'm so undecided. SSG says the results don't really tell you much but he's an engineer who likes absolutes. My mum is saying to not have it because I've said that it wouldn't make a difference. WWYD?

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 19:46

We did. I was pretty clear I wouldn't want an amnio because of the risk but we wanted to have an idea of the possibility of disability during the pregnancy. Probably more for MSB than me...

JethroTull · 24/03/2013 20:23

Must be the evening for wittering about things we can't control Faith!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 20:27

After being awake since 6, it's been a long day!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that its nigh on impossible to trim your bush evenly when you can't see it for baybee bump Confused

OP posts:
FriendofDorothy · 24/03/2013 20:37

I didn't have the NT on the grounds that it only gives you the likelihood of a higher risk or not. If you want guarantees you have to go for an amnio which I wasn't prepared to do because the risks of miscarriage are higher than the risks of having Downs Syndrome. Also, whatever the results I wouldn't have had a termination.

JethroTull · 24/03/2013 20:42

My distinct lack of sleep last night plus no sofa snooze this afternoon has definitely made me more worrisome this evening! So I'm off to bed! Night all.

MsJupiterJones · 24/03/2013 20:53

I had the NT & blood test Jeff. I thought it would just happen as part of the scan but the mw had quite a serious chat with us, almost trying to put us off. I said we wouldn't have the amnio and we wouldn't terminate anyway, but I wanted to have an idea of how worried to be iyswim. It came back low risk 1:5500 and that gave me some (not total) peace of mind.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 21:20

Mine was 1:3000 ish. With me they were more like Now you understand what we're looking for, yes?!

I hope you get a decent night's kip jeff.

JethroTull · 24/03/2013 21:42

Thanks hags. Makes me feel a bit better seeing some numbers like that. I know that my risk is higher as I'm older (I think). Hopefully tomorrow will be fine & I will see an actual baybee Grin

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 21:46

Yes, Tis amazing. Pickle honestly looked like s/he waved to us, then stretched and put her arms behind her head! One chilled baybee back then!

OP posts:
MsJupiterJones · 24/03/2013 22:01

Will be thinking of you.

bluer · 24/03/2013 22:23

We didn't have the test...I wouldn't have done anything anyway and wouldn't risk the amnio.
Hope everything is fab tomorrow Jeff!

FriendofDorothy · 25/03/2013 07:23

Good luck today Jeff

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 25/03/2013 07:39

Good luck jeff

Really? You fancy him blue? Does nothing for me...

bluer · 25/03/2013 10:47

Yeah he was my secret crush of shame! Us Scots love a ginger you know Grin
Went to work but felt so rubbish I had to leave...nice of my boss to make me feel guilty as others were off and she's a lot to do. It's different when it's one of her friend though...

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 25/03/2013 10:52

Ah of course! Well let's hope jeff had a radiographer who knows what they're doing anyway...

How rude of your boss! Shock bad enough trying to work when you're ill, awful when you're pregnant and ill! I had similar when I was at the same point in pregnancy as you and I just had to veg for a week to recover!

OP posts:
bluer · 25/03/2013 11:02

Yeah when it's her two pregnant friends it's all sympathy but when it's me it's carry on as normal. She's mad because one of her friends has to cover my class this afternoon and I should know how tired she is...I feel bad enough. I don't go home lightly but I literally couldn't think our even stand up.

JethroTull · 25/03/2013 14:42

Just nipping in quick whilst at work to say scan was fine & miniJeff was wriggling around. Got a good photo too. I am very relieived & might even start to believe I am going to have an actual baybee Grin Grin Grin

bluer · 25/03/2013 14:48

Yippee! ! So so happy for you Jeff!
It's amazing to see isn't it? !

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 25/03/2013 14:50

HOORAY!!! Well done jeff and baybee jeff. Grin

bluey put it to the back of your mind and concentrate on getting well. Some people have awful double standards.

I have been productive today :) I have booked in with the dentist, booked MSB's car for an MOT, exchanged a stereo that broke (despite having no box or receipt. Thanks Argos!), bought a toastie maker - guess what I had for lunch?! Sadly this snottiness has moved to my chest so now I will relax!
