HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/03/2013 13:45

Sadly not the best night's sleep with the sniffles and mouth breathing. Was awake at 7 too - my first chance for a lie in in a week!Shock Ah well, had a nice lazy morning with bacon sarnies. Now waiting to do the tour of the labour ward! MSB is getting a bit fidgety and we've only been waiting 15 minutes. I've just told him this does not bode well.

Have a luffly evening jeff. Hopefully being out will push you to keep going but it might be worth having a snooze this afternoon! Smile

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/03/2013 15:49

I have realised from the tour that I know a fair amount about the set up already (been to visit a few people after they have laid and saw baybees being borned by c-section when I did anaesthetics!). Also I am a lot more laid back than some of the other women on the tour! At least now MSB is familiar with the environment.

There was a chap walking round with a teeny tiny baby. The reality of that being us in a few weeks hit home! Shock

bluer · 23/03/2013 17:12

No ivf...had been told I wasn't ovulating and hormone levels were 12 for progesterone but somehow one stuck! That was after over a year trying but it's such a relief that everything worked as the doctor I saw told me miscarriage was more likely with the low levels...but wouldn't give me anything humph!
I think i've got the cold...my throat is on fire although I think heartburn has added to it

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/03/2013 17:41

Miracle baybee...mind you, I guess they all are really!

That's how I started blue. I wondered if heartburn was making me worse but then I couldn't stop sniffing. Then it came with full force. We are enjoying a chilled afternoon watching Homeland. Not seen it before but like to just watch a box set every now and then. I've been trying to sit on the ball but I've got abdo pain (but like droid pain) so I've stopped.

OP posts:
bluer · 23/03/2013 20:46

Ah homeland is good! Been watching some old films...the cold is definitely getting worse..swallowing is very painful now!

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/03/2013 21:46

I prescribe plenty of fluids, paracetamol and rest blue!

Seriously, I think this baybee is trying to kick/punch its way out of my cervix! Nice to feel movement but OW!

On a pain killer related note, I have only taken 15mg of codiene today :) This is from someone who a few weeks ago was on 30mg 4 x a day. Do you think cutting down to that means I and the baybee are no longer addicted? I have done it very gradually so no withdrawal symptoms unlike the first time I tried before I was diffed. I was ok until about 8.30pm when the pain just got too uncomfortable but I certainly don't need it like I did. My reading suggests most causes of harm are done to either withdrawal (which I'm hoping we won't have if I'm taking so little) and breathing problems in the last 4 weeks (and if Pickle is on time and I'm taking so little that might be avoided too?). Obviously I am on for the hospital birth and in for the 48 hour monitoring but can I have a gold star for trying to do the best for my baybee?!

OP posts:
FriendofDorothy · 23/03/2013 22:12

The chances of Pickle having withdrawals are next to nothing in my professional opinion. You just aren't taking enough codeine.

I am also taking codeine at the moment to try and manage this tendonitis which is horrendous. I am hoping it doesn't affect breastfeeding too much!

MsJupiterJones · 23/03/2013 22:16

Faith you can have two gold stars.

I know nothing about the subject but sounds like you are doing brilliantly, just look after yourself.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 23/03/2013 22:44

Fanks Grin I taking what I need to to manage the pain (its there but the needles seem to have dulled it. Much easier to cope when not at work.

Dory my paediatrician said even when I was taking up to 4 x 30mg daily I absolutely could breast feed and if anyone questioned it to contact him and he'd set them straight! :)

OP posts:
bluer · 24/03/2013 08:30

faith it sounds like you know totally what you're doing and looking after yourself and pickle!
I fell asleep really early and managed a full night! Lost my voice though! !

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 08:35

Ha I'm not sure I really know what I'm doing! When the pain was severe, I had to take the codiene every 4 hours or I wouldn't be able to keep on top of it. Initially the acupuncture meant I could stretch out the painkillers. Gradually it was like Oh I haven't taken any for hours!. Now it's a conscious choice to avoid unless I feel I need them (but regular paracetamol is still helpful). I'm just pleased I could cut down.

blue glad you managed a good night's sleep! Rest today and hopefully your voice will come back. Can't really do your job without it!

OP posts:
JethroTull · 24/03/2013 09:55

good work on the codeine! You've done an amazing job of reducing the amount.

Blu hot water, honey & lemon is my fail safe cure for sore throats. That & gargle with aspirin Grin

Scan is 10am tomorrow so I don't have long to wait.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 10:06

24 hours to go! If all looks ok, are you going public?

OP posts:
bluer · 24/03/2013 11:00

Thanks guys...sent mr df to the shops for honey...and chicken soup. Slightly concerned as when he does the shops we end up with no fruit or veg but tons of junk.
Yea Jeff so exciting! I know out won't feel like it but it seems like a quick twelve Weeks!

JethroTull · 24/03/2013 14:38

Quick?? It's been agony. I've been crossing the days off the calendar. I know what you mean though, other people's pregnancies always seem to whiz by to me.

Faith quite a few people know already because they knew about the IVF but yes, I'm going to tell my team at work tomorrow if everything is ok.

MsJupiterJones · 24/03/2013 15:31

There's a book by Zoe Williams called What Not To Expect When You're Expecting where she says exactly that, other people seem to announce a pregnancy and two minutes later there are baybee pics on fb whereas your own is the length of a PhD.

It's an ok light read btw but I was a bit disappointed, I like ZW but it wasn't for me at all.

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 16:31

I think it's seemed ages for you jeff! Seems a long time from your first scan to this one. Time goes more quickly from 12- about 30 weeks. Then it slows as you wait to finish work!

I am nesting. Tis official! Have started tidying and I mean deep stuff like dressing table, cleaning the drawers, washing my hair brushes and make up brushes! Also had the second ante-natal class so feel prepared about natural labour :)

OP posts:
JethroTull · 24/03/2013 16:35

Faith are you hoping to go sans pain killers then? My needles woman has given me a contact that specialises in hypnobirth - not sure whether it's all a bit woo but I think I might meet her to see what I think.

bluer · 24/03/2013 16:44

Oh I know it seems like ages to you...it did for me! But to me it seems to have flown for you! Do you have a due date yet?
I'm gearing up for my step mums done wedding on thurs...my friend has given me her Tiffany rose dress that she wore as bridesmaid st my wedding...which I can't believe was nearly two years ago..she was five months then and now her wee man is a proper 16 months! !

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 16:56

Oh gosh no! By natural I mean not c-section although I'm prepared for that eventuality because this MW felt my bump and said she wasn't convinced I wasn't breech herself. My MW will make a decision on Tuesday based on how I feel but I'm on my ball right now!

My birthing plan is as follows: start with paracetamol and a bath at home, sit on birthing ball a lot, gas and air at hospital. Consider diomorphine. Loathe to have an epidural but will consider it if I'm really suffering. Have baybee cos it's that easy! Skin to skin straight after if everything is ok. Ta da!

blue that sounds good. Are you on good terms with your step family?

OP posts:
JethroTull · 24/03/2013 17:04

I like 'sit on birthing ball a lot'!!

EDD is 7th Oct. Day after my birthday...

One of my close friends is getting married in September - if I get that far I will be huge at the wedding. I may have to wear a tent. Grin

bluer · 24/03/2013 17:25

Oh yeah...step mum has been on the scene for ten years, she's great! It's a bit different with her kids as we've never spent much time with them, just new year dinner etc but I'm so touched to be invited. The nice thing about her is I know she's over the moon about the baybee and has been good at getting my dad over the shock etc! He's really happy but I think he thinks I'm too young Grin

JethroTull · 24/03/2013 17:41

How old are you Blu??

HavingALittleFaithBaby · 24/03/2013 17:46

jeff you'll be the size I am now! :)

Ah it's good you have a good relationship with them. I didn't get on with Dad's lady friend at all Confused

OP posts:
bluer · 24/03/2013 18:28

Haha I'm 33 but apparently it's still taken my dad by surprise...guess you're always someone elses baby!
Yeah we've been lucky..I would hate it if my dad was with someone I didn't like,b really difficult!
