I have been following this thread, been quiet as I have been I'll with sickness bugs and all sorts but have been with you all on this journey. I was due today but had our little girl yesterday at home at 4 ish. I thought I'd share, been a bit in denial!
Had contractions, mild, that I could eat, sleep and watch I player through since I had a show on Thursday night, we called the midwife yesterday at 2pm when they got stronger and a bit more frequent, still far apart though ranging from 7-10 minutes but this is my second baby and I sensed something was gong to happen.
The midwife arrived 3/4 of an hour later to simply check me, the second midwife was not contacted as i was ok, she confirmed I was 4cm dilated...I felt a bit disappointed by this as last time i fully dilated in 3 hours.
Then it went mental, my contractions immediately got quicker, only a minute apart, got very very strong and then I wanted to poo....nice...oh oh. My DH was merrily downstairs filling the pool up when he realised it was pointless. It was at this point I was in transition, had a few contractions that were very overwhelming, I hadn't any pain relief and was thinking I might like some! The other midwife was called but was half an hour away.
After launching myself onto the bathroom floor, the midwife got pillows under my knees and told me to do whatever my body told me too.....I pushed, did this for 10 minutes, I did yelp 'help' at this point lol! Midwife nipped out of the room, I yelled for her to come back and just as well as she caught our little girl before she dropped on the floor. I had a small surface tear, when she was coming down the birth canal all I could think about was giving birth last time, my boy was 10lbs with a large head and it was 6 hours pushing, I wasn't doing that again so I pushed like hell with no restraint.
10 mins later the second midwife arrived. We were all pretty shocked at how fast it went in the end but bloody relieved! She latched on in half hour and had a good feed and has done since, she's just had one and has hiccups.
Our little boy met his sister yesterday and we had a reasonable nights sleep considering.
Just wanted to send dilating vibes to those left to go, tank positive :). You can do it!
