Even when not upset with it, do you often talk to your cervix clarella?!

Congratulations strawb

I have been following this thread, been quiet as I have been I'll with sickness bugs and all sorts but have been with you all on this journey. I was due today but had our little girl yesterday at home at 4 ish. I thought I'd share, been a bit in denial!

Had contractions, mild, that I could eat, sleep and watch I player through since I had a show on Thursday night, we called the midwife yesterday at 2pm when they got stronger and a bit more frequent, still far apart though ranging from 7-10 minutes but this is my second baby and I sensed something was gong to happen.

The midwife arrived 3/4 of an hour later to simply check me, the second midwife was not contacted as i was ok, she confirmed I was 4cm dilated...I felt a bit disappointed by this as last time i fully dilated in 3 hours.

Then it went mental, my contractions immediately got quicker, only a minute apart, got very very strong and then I wanted to poo....nice...oh oh. My DH was merrily downstairs filling the pool up when he realised it was pointless. It was at this point I was in transition, had a few contractions that were very overwhelming, I hadn't any pain relief and was thinking I might like some! The other midwife was called but was half an hour away.

After launching myself onto the bathroom floor, the midwife got pillows under my knees and told me to do whatever my body told me too.....I pushed, did this for 10 minutes, I did yelp 'help' at this point lol! Midwife nipped out of the room, I yelled for her to come back and just as well as she caught our little girl before she dropped on the floor. I had a small surface tear, when she was coming down the birth canal all I could think about was giving birth last time, my boy was 10lbs with a large head and it was 6 hours pushing, I wasn't doing that again so I pushed like hell with no restraint.

10 mins later the second midwife arrived. We were all pretty shocked at how fast it went in the end but bloody relieved! She latched on in half hour and had a good feed and has done since, she's just had one and has hiccups.

Our little boy met his sister yesterday and we had a reasonable nights sleep considering.

Just wanted to send dilating vibes to those left to go, tank positive :). You can do it!

Afrodizzywonders · 08/12/2012 08:19

That all happened in30 mins!

Clarella · 08/12/2012 08:20

I was sending it positive migratory thoughts yesterday, even did a 4 / 5 mile walk through the whole dene with scone halfway thru cooed at the cute bunnies in the petting zoo (one had a mane like a lion!) But this morning I sent it to coventy for procrastinating which is where it may as well be for all the progress it's not making!!!!

I think even bean, no sorry, GIANT PUMPKIN, is now sick of waiting! he's been mostly 1/5 for 10 days now! (I'm not allowed to voice any of this given I could have been in yesterday and have him this morning so small rant here Blush and it'll be over!)

Happy due date Olliebob- it's a very weird day I was quite nonplussed but then you can start treating the days as 'extra time'. Definitely try and plan fun things x

Clarella · 08/12/2012 08:24

Wow welcome afro and congratulations!

Afrodizzywonders · 08/12/2012 08:31

Thanks Clarella, I would have been on here sooner but part of me was so fed up being Ill, I just distracted myself on the Christmas threads instead!

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 08/12/2012 08:46

Feeling a bit weird here- Dash's due date today but instead turned 6 weeks on Thursday gone!

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 08/12/2012 08:47

Congrats afro

Terrywoganstrousers · 08/12/2012 08:48

Congrats Afro!
Well my contractions settled down a bit and we are on our way down to London (from Cheshire) for a foolishly booked in August trip to Harry Potter Studios with DD (9)
I am NOT looking forward to ten hours in the car, but I have pillows and we have packed notes and hospital bag etc just in case!
Wish me luck.

StrawberrytallCAKE · 08/12/2012 08:55

clarella ask for gas and air for internals!!! I put my headphones on too and just tried to concentrate on that...might help? Underdog by Kasabian made me steel myself to have my waters broken Grin.

I am looking at the other newborns and wondering how on earth I have birth to a four month old!!!!????

StrawberrytallCAKE · 08/12/2012 08:56

Clarella · 08/12/2012 09:00

Clarella · 08/12/2012 09:01

Strawb - I'm swinging towards epidural for those Xmas Hmm Wink

Clarella · 08/12/2012 09:03

Hope you're better now afro?

ISpyDingDongMerrilyOnHigh · 08/12/2012 09:04

Congratulations Strawberry and Afro Thanks.

I was amazed how quick the pushing stage was this time too (though not quite as dramatic as Afro's experience and how I was just overwhelmed by the sense of I need to push this baby out now -very like Walnut described in her birth story. So different to last time.

Can't quite believe Nathaniel's been here a week already. One thing that doesn't change is just looking at him and taking in how lovely he is

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/12/2012 09:12

Welcome and congratulations afro

Stupidly getting emotional today as I want tadpole out! Being induced on mon, surely that should be good enough!?! Bloody hormones!

2blessed · 08/12/2012 09:14

welcome and congratulations afro, 30 mins? Wow!

Clarella · 08/12/2012 09:57

Oh stacey big hugs and big breaths and lots of nice comfort food. What time are you going in on Monday? I'm waiting the phone call and probably buggered up their timetable after my dithering. I bet it's really busy then.

EggNogMichelle · 08/12/2012 09:58

Congratulations afro, 30 min is quite a contrast to your previous 6hrs!

Uploaded a picture of Felix, I think he looks like a cute troll!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/12/2012 10:11

Is blood streaked snotty discharge ok? Bright red blood, but only streaks iykwim.

clarella I have to ring at 8am and they will tell me when they want me in. All depends on beds etc. have arranged care for dcs in case they want us there for 9.

Honeycantthinkofanxmasnickname · 08/12/2012 10:16

He's gorgeous eggnog

stacey sorry you're feeling so rotten. Canyou have a wallow in a nice hot bath?

FriendofDorothy · 08/12/2012 10:30

Oh I am feeling really envious of all these babies.

I had period like cramps last night but nothing else. Did other people feel like their baby had started to drop and engage before they started feeling anything?

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 08/12/2012 10:30

Yeah I'll wallow in the bath later. Gotta get the kids out for a walk while the suns out. Maybe that'll get things moving

Afrodizzywonders · 08/12/2012 11:22

EggNog, last one was 9 hours in total, with 6 hours pushing, this was under 10 mins pushing, worlds apart!

Stacey, that sounds like your 'show' check with your midwife. Things may be moving!!

CODwidow · 08/12/2012 11:39

Contracting every 10 mins for 3 hours and now nothing grrr!!! I'll be having words with this baby when she arrives.

stacey sounds like a show to me, you may not make Monday Smile
