Merry Christmas everyone!

Congrats Esme and Persuasion on your scans.

I had my early 10 week scan yesterday and it's all feeling a bit more real now. Good strong heart beat, wriggly arms and legs and spot on for dates so can breathe a bit more easily now.

Had some very weak bucks Fizz earlier and an now on the orange juice.

I hope everyone is having a lovely day.

trickybarmby · 25/12/2012 22:56

aargh restless legs! anyone got any tips about relieving them?! hope everyone's having a good day, been tiring and hard work to say the least! still feeling pretty awful pretty much all the time! x

dinkystinky · 26/12/2012 08:39

Hope all had a lovely Christmas - so sorry to hear you have had such a bad time lately Thinking. Hope your FIL is making a good recovery. Here's hoping 2013 is going to be a much better year!

Hurray for the good scans just before xmas. I have a delightful 4 hour plus journey back to London ahead of me today... not looking forward to it.

magoosmom · 26/12/2012 11:10

tricky I used to get it with DS, you have my sympathies it's awfully annoying. Eating bananas is supposed to help, it's from a lack of magnesium I read somewhere , DH gets it all the time and i bought him Magnesium tablets ( which he never takes! )

Thinkingof4 · 26/12/2012 13:05

Thanks for all the kind words about my FIL, that's really kind. He is back home and they had a quiet Christmas at home. Dh took the big two to see them on Christmas eve with a card ds1 had made and it really cheered them up. Smile
We had a lovely, exhausting day yesterday, off visiting today and will be telling my siblings about the baby today, so hoping for a good response. My younger sister is very excited and my parents were shocked but managed to look pleased!!
I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday and not too stressful
tricky re restless legs it is often related to to low iron levels, which is also v common in pregnancy. Are you on a supplement with iron? If not might be worth it. You might also find some gentle exercises on the net if you have a look

emblosion · 26/12/2012 20:14

Scan tomorrow (Thursday)

Good luck to calmisthemantra, my scan-twin, too!

dinkystinky · 26/12/2012 21:41

Good luck for your scans tomorrow

Calmisthemantra · 26/12/2012 22:48

Thanks. You too emplosion bet I don't sleep well. It's mega early so shouldn't be too much hanging around

Calmisthemantra · 26/12/2012 22:48

Ooooops emblosion

AmaDablam · 27/12/2012 06:59

Hello everyone. Hope you all had good Christmases and great to see some good scan news. Good luck too for those having them today. Has anyone seen anything from ohgood? I had a quick look through but hope I haven't missed it.

Unfortunately my MS chose Christmas Day to be the worst yet and I spent most of it in bed, furiously trying to keep down whatever little food and drink I could manage Xmas Sad. DH was an absolute star though, doing all the cooking and keeping my family entertained, the latter of which was supposed to be my job! Felt much better yesterday though and so far so good today, so hoping I've reached a bit of a turning point.

Off to the doctors again this morning as cystitis hasn't budged, despite the antibiotics I was prescribed last week Sad. Hey ho at least I still have almost another week until I have to be back at work Smile

Have a great day everyone.

wifey6 · 27/12/2012 07:03

Good luck to everyone having scans today!

YikesHereWeGo · 27/12/2012 08:50

Ama - I was the same as you but on Boxing Day; sick as a dog yesterday. In bed all day and puked up so much even though I only managed to eat 2 pieces of toast & 2 satsumas all day Confused Was meant to be back at work today but just feel so shattered. Hopefully I'll recover quickly and get back to normal by tomorrow...?
9+5 today. This time last pregnancy was where it all started to go wrong so fx for a happier ending this time round.

esme80 · 27/12/2012 10:28

Persuasion this is my second, I have an 18 month old ds.

Good luck everyone with scans!

Feel sorry for everyone who felt poorly over christmas! I got quite lucky in the end, my morning sickness and noro virus passed just in time so I could stuff my face. I am already showing! Isnt that too early? I mean even when I am not bloated. I didnt have that many pies over the holidays! Time to head back to the gym I think...

missmaybe · 27/12/2012 10:51

Happy Christmas, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating.

My morning sickness seemed to get a bit better - or maybe it was just the temptation of all that yummy food - so I ate a bit more than I've been able to usually. And there were no huge wobblies, just small family dramas, so on the whole I'm quite thankful...

Good luck for your scans today, calm and emblosion!

flyingsprocket · 27/12/2012 12:32

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! I had a very watered down Bucks Fizz on Christmas morning- kept fillingl the same glass with OJ to cling on to the yummy taste of fizz! I survived my first production of Christmas dinner & didn't stress out once- quite proud of myself!

Just got my 1st scan date through- Jan 28th, in quite disappointed. I'll be 13+6 then & I'm going on a skiing holiday the week before. It's a group of 12 of us. My midwife says its fine to ski as the baby is well protected so I plan to ski a little bit every day. My main issue is declining the cheap plonk at the chalet dinners- totally unlike me! I'd hoped to have the scan before my holiday so I could tell everyone. Now I'm considering a private scan in the next few weeks. Anybody in Sussex got a recommendation?

ArkadyRose · 27/12/2012 12:37

esme You always show sooner with 2nd & subsequent babies. The urterus starts to rise up behind the pubic bone between 10-12 weeks, so yes - by 13 weeks I'd expect to be showing.

I managed to get through Christmas day OK by just nibbling on little savory things through the day, and didn't overdo it with dinner. Still felt rather queasy come bedtime though.

We broke the news to DD3 that she's going to be a big sister at the start of the summer holidays net year, and she was really excited. She got a bike for Christmas too, so she kept telling us this was the best Christmas ever! Smile OH couldn't get through to his parents in Australia on the phone though, so he had to break the news to them by email. He got replies back yesterday, so he went on Twitter & Facebook to tell anyone who'd listen that he's going to be a dad again. He's been bursting to tell everyone since we got the BFP six weeks ago, but I wouldn't let him as I had my first MC at 10 weeks on Christmas Eve 14 years ago (and boy am I glad we seem to have laid that little ghost to rest, though I know there's still a risk yet).

It's nice to be open about it at last now. Smile

Thanks arkady, feel slightly less fat now!

Calmisthemantra · 27/12/2012 15:14

Scan was all good - everything as it should be. Thought it would make it more real but strangely it doesn't Hmm With dd it was the scan that made it real - perhaps once I start feeling movements it'll be a lot more real.

My edd has stayed the same and they offer the downs test as standard so had it done. Don't think I would do any further tests though.

We told family over Christmas and I think they were pleased. Shocked/stunned but pleased

Hope you are all well

Persuasion · 27/12/2012 15:36

calm congratulations on good scan. Good luck to those others with scans today.

esme I'm also showing, all of a sudden in the last few days have definitely changed shape. It's not massive, but definitely there. And it's my first so I don't even have that excuse! So I guess it's fairly normal. Sales shopping for maternity clothes at the weekend I think.

flying that's quite frustrating about the scan date. I'm not in sussex so can't help. I think I'd be too nervous to ski (but I'm rubbish at it and fall over a lot anyway!) Sounds like an early scan would make things easier for you, is there no way they can bring it forward?

Thinkingof4 · 27/12/2012 15:40

calm glad the scan was ok, I know what you mean about feeling more real once you can feel baby though!
arkady that's lovely re dd3- what age is she? We haven't told our boys yet, ds1 is nearly 6 but it's such a long time to wait for a baby so I'm not rushing to tell him!

Hoping for positive news from good fx

Thinkingof4 · 27/12/2012 15:41

Ps sorry to hear you missed most of Christmas ama maybe you'll feel better by new years day and can enjoy something nice then

emblosion · 27/12/2012 15:45

Great news calm mine was all good too, am a bit further along than I thought, measuring 13+1 so due date changed to 3 July, I'll update the list when I'm on the laptop.

esme I'm showing too, back in the maternity clothes already

emblosion · 27/12/2012 15:47

Ps. Sorry to all those feeling sick, you'll have to have a post- Christmas feast to make up for it when feeling better :)

trickybarmby · 27/12/2012 16:08

thanks guys, re the restless legs ive heard its a lack of iron, potassium, magnesium and calcium so im not sure which im not sure if it's any our none of these! I'm taking an over the counter supplement and prescribed iron supplement and can't stand banana so any advice would be gratefully received!
ive still not been booked in so i've still not got a due date or seena midwife apart from when I was in for bleeding at the epau but the skiing thing made me think, I play roller derby and haven't skated since I had the positive test, I know it's different as in its a full contact sport but people had suggested to me that I still actually skate but dont take part in any contact but I didn't know if it was too risky? I googled and someone said they had skated til 32 weeks which I think is maybe a bit much but I am missing the exercise? how is everyone getting on with going about their normal routines? x
