lauren being optimistic maybe he is just getting it out of his system before he properly settles and grows up. Last few weeks before dc1 can be quite unsettling and that realisation life is never going to be the same again.... Am sure when your little one arrives he will feel full of responsibility or at least I hope so!!!

On another note I have a thread on baby names as really can't decide.... If any of you would like your tuppence worth it is the one entitled "help.... Can't name ds4" or something similar.... (Don't know how to link to it here!)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 10/01/2013 20:45

Oh god, I am soooo far behind that I don't know how I will catch up, so will just post now and try harder from now on!! GrinGrin
All good here, am 30 weeks now and feel massive. Cannot believe that I have 10 weeks ish to go. I said this to my friend the other day; she responded saying oh well, you never know it might not be 10 weeks (nudge wink.) my response was that if DD was anything to go by, knowing my luck, it probably won't be 10, it'll be 11 or 12!! Ha ha!
Still made no progress on knocking the nursery back into shape. Upstairs in our house is a total tip. We need to have a good old clear out and get DD some new furniture so we can put all the nursery stuff back and start putting baby grows and baby supplies like nappies and stuff away. Was thinking that as I have some spare time tomorrow, I might just set on and pull out all the crap from the spare room, so at least it is easier for DH to take downstairs and dispose of or more likely put in the garage.
Hopefully I'll be able to come back next week and tell you about all the progress I have madeWink fingers crossed!

Hope you are all doing ok and hello to all the new ladies! Will try much harder to keep up now, especially as we are coming into the final strait! X

LaurenCaddy · 10/01/2013 21:08

Much thankies to tramp & stealth

We sat down and had a chat, and basically it is like you suggested, getting it out of his system before baby gets here and he has to look after both of us. So feel a bit bad now for telling him not to talk to me :/ Will fully blame hormones for this one. He's a big softie really. Still miffed about the smoking thing tho.

Will head on over to your post Ethel, i'm not amazing at names tbh, i'm a bit traditional and girly so sorry in advance if you think any suggestions i make are shit lol.

LaurenCaddy · 10/01/2013 21:13

Not ethel sorry i mean stealth. Oh my days, one of those nights, i think that's my note to leave and go to bed on!

Btw had a quick look, and i love the name Hugo. Theo's nice, but my neighbour has a beautiful Cocker Spaniel called Theo, so for me i couldn't have it. But i'm assuming you don't know any dogs called Theo :) I really like the name Sebastian as well, but i always get funny looks for that one. If we was going to have a boy he would of been Zachary-Paul. And probably will be if in the future we choose to do this again and it's a boy lol.

Right, good night all. Sleepy times for me.

Countmyblessings · 10/01/2013 21:28

Hi all and welcome to the late comers!
Sorry keeping up with this thread is proving hard!
I'm just knackered now and at 31 weeks and another one with the cursed spd or now named pgp!!!!! So getting around is now painful and I'm totally fed up of people telling me I should keep active the pain is not constant but when it hits it really is painful!!!! I'm just counting down and praying I get through to feb and still be at work!!!!!! Baby no4 and I think my body is shutting down on me!!!!!

Oodhousekeeping · 10/01/2013 21:33

Nooo don't keep active! The pain means stop now or I'll hurt more tomorrow!!

leniwhite · 10/01/2013 21:36

Lauren - feeling let down is totally understandable. You're home growing a baby and he's out having a good time, seemingly as if he's not shortly going to be a dad. My OH and I have had many such moments, and he's 29! Because you're the one carrying baby you're always aware of what's coming, but men find it a bit more difficult to relinquish selfish habits I think. Don't feel bad that you didn't want to talk to him, you're pregnant and doubly as scared as him! Give yourself a break and he'll figure it out. I lurch from feeling like I'm doing all of this alone to feeling my OH is the best daddy ever, but that part only happened very recently...

theTramp · 10/01/2013 22:16

Glad you had the chat and all is now well.

Baby names - such a mind field. I say get a book, write down whichever names you like and whichever names your OH likes and then read them all out over the week, mark up the one's that resonate best with you both and at the end of the week you have yourself a shortlist.

Countmyblessings · 11/01/2013 14:51

Ood- I'm at that place where I just ignore them as they ain't me and the pain I'm having has me in tears most evenings turning in bed has felt like tortue I'm just glad it's not as bad as others because only when you know the type of pain can you say anything!!
Baby names I like names that have a nice meaning as this is my final one I'm going for a nice Arabic name so will do my research and make a list although my DH is quite relaxed about me naming this one!
I beginning to think this baby is trying to escape the amount of movement and sharp kicks and punches I'm getting actually winds me at times!!!!

LaurenCaddy · 11/01/2013 19:44

Evening ladies,

Ooo don't push yourself count, your body knows best i think. Saying that i don't think you should cut exercise out completely, but if a 15 minute walk is all you can do, it's all you do! Ignore other people, everyone's pregnancy is different and only you know your boundaries :)

Thank you leni. I think he will be a good Daddy. I know it's hard to say until she gets here. I do hope he's just getting it all out his system ready to stand by us.

Just to let you all know, there's a brilliant sale on cots and bits and pieces at kiddicare.com So if you need any last minute bits or having a nosey around for a good deal, we got a lovely white cotbed with foam mattress included for £117.99, with free next day delivery. Thought that was really good considering how expensive mattress's can be.

Having a healthy tea tonight. Jacket spud and chicken salad. Woooo. Well done me. Staying away from too much junk food has been hell for me. Nothing beats a chip shop with curry sauce om nom nom nom....

kirsty80 · 11/01/2013 22:28

Hey everyone!
Not posted in a little while.... I was in hospital at the start of the week with some bleeding, basically I'm 31 + 4 weeks and baby is now engaged. The midwife said that she thinks he may have scratched me getting in position - is anyone else's baby engaged? I'm booked in for a csection on march 5th but they are also talking about doing it a little earlier as he is measuring quite big - eeeeek! I think I might need to get my increasingly expanding arse in gear and get ready for this baby!!! Hope you're all ok!! X

LaurenCaddy · 12/01/2013 11:56

Good afternoon all,

Sorry to hear of your hospital stay kirsty, at least little one is oki. So by yhe sounds of it you may even have a little one by the end of February! Wow sounds so soon.

On another note, i've woken up with quite a sore throat and cough, i've been told to avoid lozengers, but do you think Buttercup Syrup should be oki?

leniwhite · 12/01/2013 13:34

Wow Kirsty! So bubba's ready to go Grin I guess they have sharp little nails already, ouch! I feel a scratching sometimes when mine is trying to tunnel out through my belly button, and I'm only almost 30 weeks. Glad all is well and you must be excited!
Lauren why did they say avoid lozenges? I eat Halls every day Confused they're not medicated though. I'm a singer so I can recommend a brilliant cure for sore throats - fresh ginger root (either chopped and boiled in water for ten mins or get capsules from a health food shop and add boiling water) plus a lemon slice and a teaspoon of honey per mug. It really works!

theTramp · 12/01/2013 13:48

Lauren - tyrozets are great for sore throats and fine for you. Basically its an antiseptic. Ask lady at Boots counter.

StormyBrid · 12/01/2013 14:03

Engaged already sounds a bit scary, kirsty! Mine's not yet - according to the midwife on Friday she's "head down but still bobbing around". Definitely got fingernails though. I keep telling her she can't actually claw her way out alien-style, but she's not listening.

Meanwhile, have discovered a solution to the inability to get comfortable in bed issue! Too much snoring had me sleeping downstairs on a reclining chair last night. Absolutely no room to roll over when you don't want to, so no pillow-nest required, and it not being quite flat seemed to support hips and knees rather better than a bed does. And I think the neurotic cat approved, as she burrowed under the duvet and went to sleep behind my knees.

Has anyone heard from zoeymlucas recently? Haven't seen her post in a while and I keep wondering how things are going, given her history.

LaurenCaddy · 12/01/2013 15:33

I was told to avoid anything with menthol, and read on a few sites when looking up (mainly baby centre) to avoid all lozengers. Didn't go into the ins and outs of it, but decided after reading comments i wouldn't buy any just in case (worry wart me coming out today). I haven't been out today, the weather decided it was a pj day for me, and do some spring cleaning, but will ask in Boots next time i'm up there. For now i'll stick with salt water and honey until i get there. Thanks all.

eigmum · 12/01/2013 16:06

Yes just caught up with all the news and no posts from zoeymlucas hope she is ok. All ok here just getting bigger. I second the don't buy too many new baby nappies my DS was huge and needed the bigger size straight away. We are finally getting the nursery ready but like last time I don't like doing to much before just in case .... In case war I don't know bt I do like to worry! Lauren, it is hard when it seems like OH gets all the fun my OH was like tat but is a great dad. They are just back from swimming so I could have a little nap!

theTramp · 12/01/2013 20:25

Lauren - seeing as my doctor said lemsip was fine I think a throat lozenge would be a-ok. Avoid Dr Google. If you are concerned call MW. Tyrozets aren't menthol etc, they are an antiseptic, so a bit like a very deep gurgle with a mouthwash, minus the feeling that you are going to throw up.

I believe Zoey is a ok. At home and feet up.

backwardpossom · 12/01/2013 22:24

We're going to need another new thread soon! Grin

32+1 and a very wriggly bump...

zoeymlucas · 12/01/2013 23:04

Sorry for not posting in forever things have just been manic here and to be honest I don't know what I am up to half the time!
Baby is still staying put and I am now 31+4 and still hoping for a good gestation but have needed to go in and out of hospital a lot lately- spent 2 nights in this week alone with mild but regular contractions that they stopped once but started up again, since then haven't done much as I pyhsically can't with my back/pelvis! Consultant even has given me tamazipan to help me sleep as he says I can't carry on this this in this pain but I just can't bring myself to take one so have turned to to a moaning, depressed hormonal mess that poor hubby is having to try and deal with!
Also infections are coming more often as body is trying to reject the stitch, so that don't help matters am like a pill machine with anti biotics, irons tablets, pain killers etc- if anyone is ill come visit and I will sneeze n you Smile also still trying to work through most of this!

I hope everyone is doing ok- I did read a lot of posts the other day but didn't get round to actually posting- think I went and slept in the bath, lol! I appreciate you asking after mestormy and I will try to be better and keeping up and posting Blush
Ow yeah and kirsty my little man is also fully engaged and I get ALOT of pressure and 'bubbling' down there x

theTramp · 13/01/2013 00:02

No bubbling here, although a v active (it feels) Socs and at long last MrM was able to feel with hand on belly. Apparently if he can't verify activity it doesn't count...

I'm feeling loads more chipper. Ok so I only managed 2 out of the 3 work tasks I set myself for the day. But loads of sleep, a bit of me & MrM time, work done, friend visit and a foot rub (bliss!) from lovely masseuses who comes to you (more bliss!) and then more work. All v productive and also restful. As next week is hell week & I've now 6 rather than 5 tasks on tomorrow's list - plus travel to Leeds, house tidy & Mum chatting I've decided if I can knock 3 off of the list I'm doing well. Anyway we'll see, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Right must dash... And annoyingly I've just this second realised I forgot to go to Rymans and buy name badges on Friday. Arse. Hmmm, wonder what I can pick up from train station on a Sunday...

Hope everyone's weekends are going well.

leniwhite · 13/01/2013 00:51

Lauren- my doc said menthol is absolutely fine - just don't slather vicks all over your belly! There are no known issues with menthol and pregnancy.

Seriously though, the ginger drink is safe and works better than anything else, and believe me I've tried everything Wink

Now all I need is a cure for this acid stomach... Confused

Hope everyone who's poorly is holding up ok, Zoey especially.

LittleBlueBox · 13/01/2013 03:20

Hi all, Hope it's not too late for me to jump on the bandwagon. I'm 32+6 preggers atm, due 5 March. I've just discovered mn and think I may be in love with the forums. Wink

I'm afraid I haven't caught up much with this thread - it's absolutely massive! But love the chance to chat to others going through the same stuff at the same time.

Bit more about me. I'm an Aussie living in Darwin, think crocodiles and tropical storms right about now. This is our first dc, second pregnancy after I miscarried at 10 weeks last year. My gf of 14 years and I are completely over the moon and somewhat terrified all at the same time. Currently feeling gigantic and having full on round ligament pain, but otherwise this pregnancy has been pretty smooth.

Sending warm tropical thoughts to all, especially those feeling unwell. Smile

Oodsigma · 13/01/2013 08:54

Welcome littlebluebox

kirsty my baby keeps dropping down but doesn't stay ( advantages in a loose pelvis according to the MW as the pressure is agony!)

StormyBrid · 13/01/2013 12:30

Snorting with laughter at the name change there, Ood. When's it back on, do we know yet?
