Jean Paul Gaultier - Classique. Always loved this!

Also Vera Wang - Princess when I fancy a change!

Passmethecrisps · 20/10/2012 21:10

Ooo dixie my all time favourite is l'eau d'issey by Issey Miyake. I don't currently have that but I have lots of the lovely Clinique Happy. I do really like Happy but when I get a whiff of l'eau d'issey it makes me feel different and nice - it's amazing the impact smells can have.

Also thanks to dixie and VQ for the sleep temperature advice. Theoretically, the rooms should never be hotter than 21oC or cooler than 18oC as the heating is thermostatically controlled. I don't currently have any actual cellular blankets just ones which have been knitted for us. They will be too warm won't they?

How many sleeping bags seems reasonable? I have a swaddle wrap but someone mentioned that they weren't recommended anymore. I have one sleeping bag - don't know where it came from but it says 2.5 tog. Sleeping is probably the last of my worries now apart from everything but you know what I mean

Sophiathesnowfairy · 20/10/2012 21:21

dixie I like A bit of Chanel, Chance or a Jo Malone as a special treat or Marc Jacobs the one with the big flower on the lid. Haven't bought a new one for ages, got me thinking, I am all out.

Had a lovely day, me and the DDs went swimming was lovely to bob around weightlessly. DS and daddy had some boy time, then we all stayed up late to watch Strictly, and now to bed with our books.

I can't believe how many people are actually haing their baby am so Envy. Nothing moving here. I'm just now growing at an alarming rate.(though don't think I can match detectives spurt.)

mrswee have missed thee. I was beginning to wonder of you were ok. The anusol story had me laughing out loud earlier. Everyone was asking what was funny

time to reminisce

It reminded me of the time I was on the train on the way back from a meeting in London where they had given me a Pret et Manger cake in a liitle box. I rummaged on this packed train for my saved cake fr ages making a real fuss about it. I pulled it out with joy when I found it. It was a packet of LilLets Super.Blush

We too are a one car family, well, one company car which we both drive plus the boys toy in the garage which is currently off roaded and needs a bit of love and attention!

DesperateHousewife21 · 20/10/2012 21:23

My fav perfume is Chanel Mademoiselle, also like Nina Ricci and I've got Daisy by Marc Jacobs which is nice.

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 21:28

pass it is worth getting cellular as they are cotton so breathable and warm yet cool. I would have 3 or 4 gro bags in case they are sick or nappy leaks.

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2012 21:30

They are nice and cheap in Tesco or Matalan.

FatimaLovesBread · 20/10/2012 21:52

My faves are l'eau d is set by Isley miyake, coco Chanel mademoiselle, nina by nina rici and I do like daisy by Marc Jacobs and DKNY Be Delicious

Passmethecrisps · 20/10/2012 22:09

Thanks VQ I will take a look in tesco. I take it Grobags are really worth the money then? DH is not a fan of second hand (from strangers - fine with hand me downs from friends which is just as well as it is all we have!) so I would be getting new. If they are worth the money I have no problem getting a couple. Oh, and what about when to use them - straight from birth? Is there a weight or size they should be before using? I am just gathering opinion really.

Dixiebell · 20/10/2012 22:16

Thanks for the perfume recommendations. It gives me some ideas and things to try put rather than going in blind, I never know what to try! I love coco mademoiselle and just run out of Chanel crust alike way vert (ha that should be Chanel cristalle eau vert!!! Bloody iPhone!).

I managed with 2 grobag a, just a spare for when one was in the wash. DS was not a particularly sicky baby, I'd maybe get 2 to begin and see how it goes.

kissyfur · 20/10/2012 22:17

My favourite perfume is chanel coco madamoiselle too. I have run out so hoping for some for Xmas Smile mind you I didn't wear perfume for a long time after having DD as a midwife told me baby likes the natural smell of mum

Dixiebell · 20/10/2012 22:23

pass, I think grobag say min weight of 8lb8oz, so depends on how big baby is. You don't want them slipping down inside. We used it from about a month i think. Even the 0-6 ones are really long tho, we used to have it hanging over the end of the Moses basket! Grobag ones are great but we also got one from primark and really they do the same job.

Passmethecrisps · 20/10/2012 22:31

Thanks ladies. The one I have which is mamas and papas I think is quite short - much shorter than others I have seen.

I keep thinking I am all set then realise I have lots more questions!

In other news I have a really sore nose. I have a cold sore just on my nostril and it is one of the most stingy ones I have had. Boo

Peaky1 · 20/10/2012 22:36

I'm only just able to stand the smell of perfume again and have obviously hardly worn any at all throughout my pregnancy! My poor DP had to stop wearing aftershave if he wanted me anywhere near him (after a near vomming episode in the middle of Wilkos when I caught a whiff). Smells were definitely my cryptonite. Typically I love the smell of dodgy stuff instead like car fumes, petrol, paint, newspapers etc Blush ooh and polish at the mo (if only I could be arsed to polish more often)

YellowWellies · 20/10/2012 22:39

I don't think we have any polish in the house Blush I love the smell of it too. And petrol. mmmmm

StuntNun · 20/10/2012 22:54

Christian Dior Addict for me although Addict 2 is nice as well.

TMI alert but I have had a bit if greenish discharge today. There's no other issues e.g. itchiness or smell or anything and it's quite faint in colour, nothing scary. I was going to put it down to hormones going mad. Any other opinions?

Stunt call triage. Lady in bed nxt to me when I went to triage last week had same thing.

Sry haven't read any other posts. Need to catch up! Our post natal thread will no way be as quick as these!

Passmethecrisps · 20/10/2012 23:06

stunt I noticed this today as well. Quite faint like one of those paints - white with a hint . . .

Considering I had leukocytes in my urine yesterday I just took mine to be 'white with a hint of UTI'.

I have started wearing a panty liner all the time now as I am back to anxious knicker checking - seems no time since we were doing that before.

I have been ok generally with smells apart from vanilla and turmeric bizarrely. I only worked out what it was in certain food I used to love when home economics were cooking curry one day and the main spice they were using was turmeric. I couldn't be in my office. The tasty vanilla tea I bought as well ended up in the bin.

I have had none of the super-sonic smell sense that some women have. I am so boringly normal

Iheartpasties · 20/10/2012 23:46

I have not worn perfume in ages and ages! The new babies much prefer your own natural smell! It's a comfort to them :)

Catbag · 20/10/2012 23:54

Hey all! It's taken me all evening to catch up with you chatty bunch!

So, if you haven't heard already, I have finally got my babies! They were born on Tuesday afternoon by last minute emergency c section (after fully dilating :/) and i have to say that the clinical team that did it were magnificent. I'll give you the whole story in the next day or so, once I'm feeling a little less mentally decrepit, but for now the salient details are as follows....

Girl twin weighed 6lbs 5oz and is called River. She looks like a beautiful eskimo and has loads of dark hair, making me think that the heartburn/hairy baby thing might actually valid! Boy twin weighed 5lbs 6oz and is called Saul. He also has loads of slighty lighter coloured hair and makes some awesome baby dinosaur noises. They are feeding like professionals and i pretty confident that they will have put on weight when they get weighed tomorrow rather than having lost a bit. River is currently curled posessively around one breast while sleeping and Saul is asleep on my shoulder, snoring peacefully. I'm almost bursting with love and pride of my little people already Grin

I'm going to post some pics on the fb page when I can wrestle my laptop back off DH tomorrow :)

Congrats to all who have had their babies in the last few days. Aren't babies brilliant? Grin

Iheartpasties · 21/10/2012 01:46

Aww catbag sounds fucking amazing! two cute babies sleeping!! Doesnt get any better, i bet!! Thank goodness it is all worth it in the end!! So lovely to hear your news.

ShellyBobbs · 21/10/2012 05:04

Lots and lots of babies this week. Congratulations Catbag!

Hubby went out doing a bit of shopping yesterday, so I text him, 'grab a curry on your way back'. Worst idea ever! I ate x2 onion bhajis, then had about 5 mouthfuls of veg curry, within 30 mins I was sat on the loo crapping and have felt like my insides need a good jet wash since, hence me being up at this time. Woke up about 3am to the sound of very loud gurgling noises from my belly. Yuck!

On the upside, I'm not constipated any more :)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/10/2012 06:44

I was always a pure gro bag advocate with the girls and also bought one for DS, then I discovered the travel sleeping bag in Jo Jo when we were driving over to Ireland the .christmas of the terrible snow (2010) and DS was only 4 months, it has detachable arms which were brilliant. So in the winter I have just used those as they are so good. Anyway this led me to buying a Jo Jo standard bag the other week for him from Jo Jo and it is really lovely and I think a touch cheaper than gro bag.

Kiddos all still asleep so I have managed to get up, hair done, slap on ready for the day before they are conscious. I love it when that happens. Grin

applepieinthesky · 21/10/2012 07:17

Morning all. I've been up ages already. DP woke up mega early with stomach ache and I could hear him clattering about then baby was kicking me like mad so couldn't get back to sleep. DP reckons he woke up in the night and couldn't move his left leg, I told him I'm like that every night with SPD and now he has some idea how I feel. No sympathy here

Starving now. I think I'm gonna have a massive bowl of cheerios then catch up on some Downton Abbey on itv player.
