Hi everyone, lovely to hear all your news. After 16 or so weeks of constant vomiting and illness I have finally joined the ranks of the mostly well and able to do my job thank god so finally told my boss on Monday (one of the things of losing 4kg when only tiny is there is only now at 19 weeks anything like a bump!) and planning to go out to James bond tonight with Hubble and friends in first night out since Olympics on 5th August! Yeah as it's my birthday! Outside world. Scan next Tuesday but already know its a girl from the amnio which was all fine.

Tramp - loving the jaeger coat, does it fit ok over growing bump? Did you buy a size bigger? Thinking about that or IO Sophie one? I would still fit my normal one but in my excitement at being well and going to work. Left it n the train at Waterloo and it disappeared! Lost property say not going to show up now!

Em2010 · 27/10/2012 11:15

eig shame about your coat but at least you're feeling more human again!

manda boo hiss to bump bargers! I find it very painful if someone so much as touches my bump so I can imagine how painful it must be for you with your twin bump! Hope it feels better soon!

ood CBbc tour sounds fab. Have fun!

stealth really sorry to hear your scan wasn't reassuring. Others have already said it better than I have but I would surely think that babies, like the rest of us humans, all develop at slightly different speeds? I hope the next scan goes better for you.

Had exhausting afternoon in ikea yesterday and won't bore you all with the details but some woman really upset me over ds and I'm now sitting there having one of those days where you think "I really wish I'd said something" but sadly I'm not quick enough to think of clever stuff so I went with my usual dignified silence approach....

Off to try this nearly new sale this afternoon, fingers crossed for some good bargains!

Sheldonella · 27/10/2012 11:27

Morning all. I've been feeling some amazing strong kicks this morning, it's amazing how much things change week to week. I think I've got the nesting instinct today as I feel the urge to do lots of cleaning and make a stew. We'll see how that goes :)

flowery and stealth I hope you can enjoy your weekends without worrying too much. I agree with the others about babies all being different but I hope you can get some reassurance soon.

We do seem to have had a lot of girls in the last week don't we. Is the stats thread up to date? We should keep a count.

Thanks for the coat suggestion tramp I will try out that style. It's a real shame about the IO one as they style was lovely and had I not needed it for coldest winter I would have kept it. Sorry to hear about sofa issues. We had similar problems earlier this year. Our new ones took about 2 months longer than they should have because the fabric supplier closed down for holidays and they couldn't get any for ages. We got them eventually and got some money back but it was so frustrating making constant calls about it. Party sounds great!

Enjoy your day out ood sounds like fun.

manda boo to the rude people and bump shoving. Dressing gown sounds nice, I think I'm putting one on my birthday list :)

Welcome emerald!

I have the nesting instinct too today. I want to make a lovely home for my daughter (which is the weirdest, coolest thing to say). Unfortunately there's not a lot of point nesting here, as we're currently saving up to move house after Christmas. Need time to go faster!

We picked a name last night. Looked through every girl's name on one baby name website, and made a shortlist of names we both thought were acceptable. Then we took it in turns to delete a name until we were left with one. It's not either of us's first choice, but if we held out for first choices we'd never agree. I keep saying it under my breath and it's definitely growing on me. We're keeping it quiet for now though - if we tell people what it is now they'll mention dreadful people with the same name and put us off, whereas if people find out once she's born then it'll just be her name, and no one will say anything bad.

GummiberryJuice · 27/10/2012 12:26

Stormy just right about not telling, I always pick names That I think dh will agree as opposed to ones I really really love, although I don't think dh thinks the same, some of suggestions shock me

Eig we are scan buddies I knew I had one

Sheld glad you are back in the land of the living as I would say and can start enjoying getting a bump

GummiberryJuice · 27/10/2012 12:29

Em enjoy baby shopping

Think I'm goi.g into the attic over the weekend to get out Halloween stuff which is right beside a big case of dcs newborn baby gros, I might be gone along timeGrin

backwardpossom · 27/10/2012 13:07

Happy Saturday everyone!

Nesting never arrived here with DS, Stormy, so 'enjoy' (?) it while it lasts!!

Glad you're feeling a bit better, eig

Enjoy the kicks, sheldon!

Hope you get some bargains, Em.

I've been crocheting this morning, waiting for DH and DS to go swimming so I can get a move on in peace! DS seems to be high as a kite today, but I don't mind really as he didn't wake up until 8:10am this morning. So good to have a 'long lie'! DH thinks he's on Masterchef I think and has notions of making something fancy for dinner, including making his own pasta... I'll just leave him to it, I think. I guarantee every pan in the kitchen will be used...

GummiberryJuice · 27/10/2012 14:20

Actually that should have Eig glad youre in the land of living instead of Sheld

Sheld I want big kicks I'm still in the small nudges

tedmundo · 27/10/2012 14:34

stormy what a great idea for narrowing down to a name. I might borrow that please!

sheldon yes the kicks are really coming thick and fast now. DH can feel them too but the boys are too impatient to sit there for the couple if minutes it may take to get the feeling! once elbows and knees start poking through though, they can easily feel those!

I had DH rolling his eyes yesterday as I talked vaginas and seeds to the boys (well they did ask!). As the product of a mum who has NEVER even mentioned periods to me (I am 37) I have long since decided to be up front and open about sex with my children. DS2 even understands he came out of a cut in my tummy because he was 'awkward'!

Actually, I think it is hilarious that DS2 calls it a fajina .. Could have invented a new MN word there !

HermioneBoo · 27/10/2012 14:41

Hi everyone :) I've been off work ill again, I think it might be strep throat and the pharmacist agreed but I've never had it before. I've had a sore throat all week, felt very nauseous and had an upset stomach for three days. The nausea and upset stomach is better but can't seem to shake the sore throat, now I just feel generally unwell and very tired. I went to pick the paint colour for babyboo's room and it really took it out of me! Anyway, pharmacist says a dr appt and antibiotics is the only thing that'll help but everything apart from the sore throat has gone away so I don't want to take antibiotics unless I really have to. What do you all think?

manda and sheldon - I live in my big comfy dressing gown in the winter, it's so soft and cuddly and warm and has a hood too!
Can't believe the rudeness of anyone who would barge in to a bump, there's no way I would and if I did by accident then I'd apologise profusely [hangry] I don't blame you for wanting to hibernate til Feb!

eigmum · 27/10/2012 16:28

Yeah gummy we are scan buddies! Can't wait til Tuesday to see that there is definitely a baby in there but have felt a few kicks!!

Hermione i feel for you but it will get better. Lots of fluids and strawberries are good but if they say antibiotics really necessary you should take them would be my advice, don't want it lingering...

eigmum · 27/10/2012 16:31

Tedamundo, I am 37 today too, they make me feel very old at all the appointments but I still only feel about 25!

tedmundo · 27/10/2012 16:51

#happy birthday to ya, happy birthday to ya, happy biiiirthday!# eig

37 is fine. Still young enough but wiser too..... Perfect!

Em2010 · 27/10/2012 17:19

Ooh happy birthday eig!!!

Back from what turned into a marathon shopping spree! Bought piles of pink baby-gros from next (I LOVE their baby-gros!) for 50pence each! They are in pristine condition too. Bumped into a friend and had to quickly hide my pink stash! Also bought some toys for ds so everyone happy! Needless to say, shattered now and still have a chicken to roast for dinner... zzzzz

Quick question to those of you with experience of winter babies- how many coats, pram suits, fleecy sleepy things and cardis did you find you needed? I'm only planning in dressing the little one in baby-gros for the first few months but wondered what else she would need if we go out or it's a very cold day (as spring sometimes can be...)

GummiberryJuice · 27/10/2012 17:30

Em dd1 is a march baby and I had 1 all in one suit, hats and just layered blankets, because if going out part of journey would be in car so easier to remove/add blankets

Happy birthday girls

mandasand · 27/10/2012 18:04

Hi everyone! Hope everyone's having a lovely day!

Babies are both v. active today (assuming they are still one on each side as I'm getting left and right bumps and flumps!) Flumping is such a perfect word for it at the mo! But having some new internal feelings too: one or two on (I think?) my bladder ? hmm, sign of uncomfortable things to come?!

Went back to bed after posting this morning. Slept better than I did in the night and we managed a bit of lazy rudities too. I swear the endorphins have helped the pains in the left side of my bump! The pain is still there, Gummi but it comes and goes v. quickly only every hour or two now. Trying not to worry about it and just imagine it's growing pains.

I have got 17 Open Univ assignments to mark this weekend and I've done today is wander, very slowly, with DH to allotment to harvest the last of our veg (last giant pumpkin and tons of beetroot), nap on the sofa and chatter to DM on phone. Cold has moved to the coughing stage and I'm still madly tired. Maybe early night will do me good and I can have a fresh start tomorrow.

Gummi very Envy at your fire! We really want a woodburning stove for the lounge and had planned to get it in for this autumn but the savings for that are now earmarked for kitchen. Boo?! We need all the money we can scrape together for that since we've admitted that we can't possibly fit it ourselves as we hoped.

Eig So pleased you've come out of the other side of all that horrible MS! Really pleased for you! And happy birthday too! Thanks

Em sorry about the horrible Ikea woman. Grr? I admire your dignified silence though, especially being able to maintain it whilst awash with pregnancy hormones! I don't think I could have done that.

Sheldon did you get as far as the stew? You've inspired me: I might get on with that in a bit (had an early and a late lunch so not yet ravenous).

Hermione my new dressing gown has a hood!! I'm a bit overexcited about it too as it's so warm and snuggly!

Hi ladies, thanks for the kind messages a while back. Just lurking for a while. Hope everyone is doing well, it's tough to keep up!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 27/10/2012 18:45

Hi all and first of all, many happy returns to the birthday girl!

Manda, bump shover was VERY rude. Cheeky cow (said in eastenders stylee!)

Em, same goes for Ikea woman. Grrr.

Tramp, hope party is fab, sounds like you've put loads of work in.

Had ballet this morning and then party at a wacky warehouse. God, I hate those places. Luckily there were a few of mums from nursery to have a bit of a natter with, so it wasn't all bad.

Then spent afternoon making Christmas cards with DD (pics on fb!!) DD was more interested in adding buckets of glue, but we got 12 done in the end, so quite chuffed.

Got floors washes and cupboard fronts cleaned so fairly productive day. Top tip, for anyone having kitchens done; DO NOT buy high gloss units if a) you have kids, and b) you want them to be clean for more than 5 mins!

Anyway, gotta run, strictly's on! Grin

GummiberryJuice · 27/10/2012 19:39

Manda we put off putting in fire for years, but has been the best thing we ever did. Although unfortunately no back boiler so dh wants to put in a wood stove in another room closer to the boiler so we can have duel system
Maybe muscles stretching and when you've been so busy it easy to overdo it and not realise, even hoovering can hurt bump!

Myjobis I orginally thought I would wait until after Christmas for a rummage, but I think I have a few maternity bits in the case.

I definitely have a set of babygros that all 3 of my dcs have wore in hospital so we'll see how the hormones hold up

Am not caught up but cbbc tour was good, didn't see anyone famous though, guides said thats unusual but midweek is better for that.

lannyshrops · 27/10/2012 20:34

Hey all, been lurking a bit this week and place marking now really! Still getting over this cold (just the 11 days now) and not sleeping because of coughing like a true 40 a day-er! Just had a 3 hour snooze which was lovely!
Welcome newbies, sorry for bump woes manda , congrats on scans and welcome news to all the dd's!

ThreeForTea · 27/10/2012 20:35

Hello everyone! Another exciting saturday evening in for us, just back from B&Q and Tesco, planning to eat bits and bobs and watch dvd's with dh!

Envy of the cbbc tour Ood, did you see horrible histories? that's my favourite and a lovely compromise for me and dd when I can't face cbeebies for another minute :)

Happy Birthday eig! Hope you enjoy film, I so want to go but dh refused to go to the late showing with me last night on the account of the fact he thought i'd fall asleep!

myjob your day sounds hilarious, and you sound like a lovely mum! I am so still needing to get used to getting messy places with dd but i'm sure its just a matter of time.

hermione so sorry you've been poorly again, so rubbish.Manda hope your cold is over soon, keep taking it easy as you can!

I had my consultant appointment yesterday at the hospital. They are pleased that I want vbac but are being very cautious about my birth plan. I'm booked into vbac clinic for the 14th and they've told me to write down all the things that happened to me/went wrong last time, (could take a while) and also what I would like this time. Really can't believe i'm over half way now, 21 weeks today!

ThreeForTea · 27/10/2012 20:39

Oh, I just wanted to ask, horrible itching has anyone else experianced it?? I had to take an antihistamine the other night because it was so bad, but I can't remember what it means, or what causes is at this stage
