Oh my gosh if any of you could with cheering up on this cold, dark evening check out this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1591736-Bizarre-things-youve-done-while-distracted-by-children-or-life-in-general?pg=1
I've been crying with laughter at some of them!

Rainbowbabyhope · 23/10/2012 18:42

I have been doing some research into birth options today and came across some great articles published by the Association for Improvements in Maternity Services so thought I would share the link with you www.aims.org.uk/. manda there are some interesting articles there about options for twin births.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod · 23/10/2012 18:52

No where near absorbing enough of the posts to catch up. Work vv short staffed. Had Occupationak health today. All they said was' how are you managing' 'you won't cope much linger' 'buy a new chsir' boss was better and I'm not happy about it has suggested a change of role and I'm moving to a room on my own downstairs. And I've been ordered to use my crutches in work.

Lexiindisguise · 23/10/2012 19:08

Hi ladies
I'm afraid I'm going to drop out of this thread for a while as I am struggling to keep up and also struggling with tiredness and worry about a few things and not feeling too good.
Wishing you all the luck with everything and thank-you for all your support - half way there! Smile

Sheldonella · 23/10/2012 19:25

Hi everyone, I'm back from the scan and have done some excellent shopping. DD was adorable but very stubborn. It took three attempts to get a good look at everything with me having to eat, drink and generally dance around the hospital in between. She looks lovely and healthy though and is confirmed again to be a girl. Her little face is adorable and she looking like she was chatting away to herself in there. My placenta is anterior and high (is this a good thing?) and the sonographer pointed out the "exit". Gulp!

Shopping was great too, bought sleepsuits, vests, hats (including one with bunny ears), socks, blanket, duck comforter and a support pillow for me which I will be trying tonight. I'm going to order curtains and a moses basket tonight too. This is all happening now, so very exciting Grin Will put scan pics on fb very soon.

I discussed maternity leave with my boss yesterday. He had already started the process of getting it sorted which is a relief.

manda Hope that cold wears itself out soon. Mine lasted about 4 days in the end but wasn't so bad after two.

Fab news on your scans three Em and myjob. So beautiful aren't they :)

Lexi Sorry to hear you are having worries, can we help put your mind at reset? I hope you come back soon and stick around on fb.

Hi to everyone else, sorry for not namechecking more but I must eat.

Sorry to hear you have to duck out Lexi Sad don't go away for too long? Maybe stick around on fb?? I will miss you xxx
Sorry for useless OH ood very frustrating and lonely I expect to be on your own?
Lovely news on scans today ladies! Ours went well, bean was all scrunched up because was upside down with head on bladder (which I knew as been going to the toilet constantly!) could see the spine and it looked for the world like a little prawn! She made me go.for a wee (welcome relief) and then we had a great view of bones, heart chambers and blood flow and face! DH was a bit teary! Next scan booked for November 3rd, then we find out our team! Yeay!! Grin

FloweryBoots · 23/10/2012 21:30

Hi All. Just marking my place really, keep reading but don't seem to have anything interesting to add!

Lovely scan news coming through. Ours is on Thursday so not long now.

Heart burn seems to have started this evening - sure it wasn't this early last time. Feel it is a bit un fair to have heartburn start before morning sickness has finished!

hope you all sleep well ladies.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 23/10/2012 22:02

Hi all

Back at work today for another thrilling day! and DD went back to nursery without much trouble, so that was a relief.

manda I am sorry you are feeling crappy; I feel your pain, I am still bunged up although the sore throat had subsided luckily.

Great news on all the scans, but boo to placenta issues.

Lexi, hope all ok and that you'll be back with us soon.

Going to buy a few bits and pieces that we'll need for the new baby, but will probes wait til after Christmas.

Spoke to my manager today about mat leave, hopefully going to work til nearly 38 weeks, all being well. It's flying by, can't believe I am 19 weeks tomorrow!

Hope you're all ok.

Emus · 23/10/2012 22:03

Hi everyone,

Just popping on quickly as I'm still working (story of my life at the moment) so haven't had chance to catch up on any of the comments since about page 14 or something!

Went for our 20 week scan today - initially everything appears to be ok but I've got to go back on the 9th for another scan to check the heart and face as the sonographer couldn't get a good enough image (and baby kept putting it's hands on it's face and was being lazy again). She said she's 99% sure that everything is ok but just wants to double check once the baby is bigger. Everything measures ok though and she said she hasn't seen anything that she's concerned about. I guess that's good news. She also told us what she believes the sex is but that'll be confirmed on the 9th. I won't share my team just yet!!

Just finishing work now and then bed for me as I'm shattered. UP early tomorrow to pack for Vegas (have never been this disorganised before, I feel certain I'm going to forget to pack something vital, like my pants or something!) and then we are on our way at 11am. Definitely need a break!

Not sure if I'll be able to catch up with this in Vegas (depends if we get free wifi or not) but hope everyone is doing ok and keeping well.

Lexi make sure you pop back every now and again to say hello and to let us know how you are doing. x

zoeymlucas · 23/10/2012 22:23

Hope you have an amazing time in Vegas Emus I am very jealous as its somewhere I have always wanted to go- maybe in 18 years or so!!

Weird question - has anyone else's boobs got ummmmm more veiny??? My DH said its because thy have grown so much and getting ready but it looks awful and reminded me why I don't look in mirror before a shower!!!!!

Emus · 23/10/2012 22:35

Thanks Zoey, I'm in bed now just waiting for other half who's still working! I've got a feeling Vegas isn't the place to go to when you are pregnant so looking forward to it but am a bit worried at the same time!

Also, I noticed a massive vein on my boob the other day that definitely wasn't that prominent last week! They still haven't grown that much though which I'm chuffed about (although did put on a pretty bra yesterday when I unpacked it and it doesn't fit have side boobage going on!).

mandasand · 23/10/2012 23:29

Em, feels good to be sorting things out doesn't it? Hope flu shot doesn't cause you any trouble.

Three, my wardrobe is next but - my goodness - that's another matter. It needed a good sort out before I started buying all these mat. clothes! So I have to figure out what's for eBay, what's for charidee and what's for storing in the loft - bit daunted by the task!

Hermione that's a funny thread!

Thanks for the aims.org.uk link Rainbow. I only came across one article on twins delivery, the one in which the home birth was perfect and the CS ended in maternal death - yikes! I found that a bit alarmist but I will definitely look again and see what other perspectives there are represented as it's good to get a range of opinion before I make up my mind Smile

Ood that doesn't sound super helpful. Though a good chair is always nice. Hmm to change of role and own office: you don't sound too chuffed, but are any benefits - physically, professionally?

Lexi we will miss you on here! No pressure to post often, but check in every now and again if you can and hope FB will be easier to drop into. Please don't disappear completely - we'll really miss you! Sorry to hear about the personal worries, though. Hope they are transient and easily dealt with, my dear. As for tiredness and yukkiness - boo. Take good care of yourself. Hugs!

Woohoo Sheldon for fab scan and shopping to boot! I have 2 x anterior high. Just means we won't feel as many kicks as strongly as quickly. FB pic sooo cute.

Oh Lanny, your dear DH! Glad the scan was so good Smile

Not long to wait for yours now Flowery! Sorry about the continuing MS + heartburn Sad

Emus hope you have finished working by now! Yippee for your scan! And you get another one soon, yay! And VEGAS! Woohoo!

Zoey yes I have big blue veins on sides of boobs (sorry, norks) AND (I discover this evening) blue veins on each side of bump. Veins everywhere are more pronounced too. Esp on lower legs, grr.

Glad sore throat has eased Ethel. My cold is definitely moving around, which is for me a good sign. Usually they do this - different part of my head and chest every day then it goes. FX it's a quickie as I'm really bored now. Had a spoonful of whisky in my hot toddie earlier - felt v. naughty!

night night all!

theTramp · 23/10/2012 23:35

Lexi - worries doesn't sound great. Look after yourself. Sounds like you've a lot on your plate at mo and natural pregnancy concerns. Do drop in if you can just to say hi and know we're thinking of you.

OctoberCarrot · 24/10/2012 07:23

Morning all. Up since 5 with nerves and xcitement. Was actually physically sick as well though feel much better for it. Busy day so hopefully 445 will rock around quickly.

emus. Have a ball in Vegas. Don't forget to stock up in gap. I love their baby stuff. Sounds like somographer is on the ball which is great and good they are brining you back though it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about.

Took off my wedding band and rings last night as the last time I couldn't get them off and they were close to cutting them for section. Feel naked without them.

Hope everyone has a lovely day. Will be back later with the news.

zoeymlucas · 24/10/2012 07:38

Good luck with scans today who ever else has then, I have mole removal in half hour then get to see little man :) am more worried I won't be able to wear a bra ESP with the size forks at mo!!!!

Will check in later after appointments, have a lovely day

zoeymlucas · 24/10/2012 07:38

I meant norks!!

Emus · 24/10/2012 07:40

Thanks OC and welcome! Grin. It does sound like she's on the ball which I'm pleased about however its still a slight worry and wasn't a clear scan. I just want to be able to enjoy this pregnancy now and buy bits and pieces for the baby!

Manda hope you feel better soon (and to anyone else who's currently poorly). It's a nightmare for us pregnant ladies when we get ill isn't it (let's hope we don't get ill too often.

In other news, my coldsore dropped off yesterday (TMI?!). Grin Grin

TheAngelsHaveTheOod · 24/10/2012 08:07

manda there's no way the chair will be here before I go off. The new office is used as a store cupboard at the moment and is away from other offices and on my own. All calls will have to be transferred to me from my number and when I'm only one in ( not hard at the moment with 5/8 off!). The new job is v boring and the bit we hate covering. Practically it makes sense to slow my deterioration but mentally it's not looking great at the moment.
Feeling v flat this morning and v worried about logistics over the next few months.

tedmundo · 24/10/2012 08:55

Morning all, zoey best of luck today scan buddy! I will post later with an update. We are still undecided to ask about the sex ...

I also lurk as truly have nothing new to add. But I think about you all and I promise if anything exciting does happen I will let you all know.

Otherwise it is just day to day stuff at the moment which I won't bore you all with!

Can't wait to see dc3 later .... Oh god I hope all is well. He/she is certainly kicking the living day lights out of me so clearly nothing wrong with limb development :)

theTramp · 24/10/2012 09:16

Happy scanning ladies!

Em2010 · 24/10/2012 09:58

A quick place mark for me. Good luck with the scans today ladies! Giggling at your fork typo zoey but hope mole removal goes well. Speak soon!

mandasand · 24/10/2012 10:34

Morning all! Been taking it easy so far with the cold (=pottering about, radio on) but I must say I don't feel too bad today. Nose has still got a noisy life of its own, breathing is shallow but head is clear, I'm eating better and I want to get on and do stuff (slowly, mind!) which feels great. DH said I looked a lot better too this morning. Yippee, I may be on the mend! Wishing speedy recoveries to all others who are suffering one way or another today?

Can't wait for scan news! And more pics on FB! ted - nice to 'see' you!

n.b. newbies, there is a Facebook group for the sharing of pics (of bumps and scans, nursery ideas and crafty projects). Anyone in the group can add you - you just need to share RL name and description of your profile pic to 'friend' first and then be added to group.

Zoey, hoho at forks for norks! How was mole removal?

Emus, nice one re coldsore (and nothing is TMI in my opinion!)

Ood oh my, that all sounds a bit crap really. Hmm. It feels a bit 'Let's ostracise the pregnant lady' even tho I'm sure they are working with good intentions. Boo and crap. But professionally it seems that it may be a bit damaging. Can they really just change your job like that? It's not what you would have wanted to do when first applying, since you say it's the bit everyone hates doing, even if it makes sense in terms of mobility. Can you protest? Are there any bits of your job that you would actually like to do more of and can think of creative ways to suggest to management could be BOTH practically possible and professionally stimulating?

So today I have my NHS physio appt. I cleverly managed to bypass the first group session by not being able to make any of the dates, so am going straight to a 1-on-1. Which feels a bit excessive since I saw osteo on Monday and am actually walking a whole lot better. But I don't want to get signed off so will have to work on my hip-limp-waddle Wink

Quick q: can it really be right that I have no MW appts between 16 and 28 weeks? That is what I've got a note of, but it seems an awfully long time!

Sheldonella · 24/10/2012 10:39

Good luck with the scans today zoey and ted (and anyone else). Congrats on your scan Emus and have a lovely trip.
Hope the mole removal wasn't too sore zoey and yes, my boobs are veiny too.
manda I have an appointment at 25 weeks too and I thought that was a long time.

OP posts:
StormyBrid · 24/10/2012 11:18

Manda - are you on your first pregnancy? From what I've gathered pottering about on the pregnancy forum, subsequent pregnancies skip the 24 week appointment if everything's going well. I'm not sure why though, surely you're just as likely to worry and want that contact with the midwife even if you've had half a dozen kids already?

For those glaring at cold medication that's apparently not for use when pregnant, go by what the doctor says, not what the packet says. A lot of the time they're covering their backs just in case because the medication hasn't been specifically trialled in pregnant women (probably because you'd be hard put to find enough pregnant women willing to be in a trial, even without considering the ethics).

My chest hasn't gone veiny (yet), but the left side has clearly done rather more growing than the right side. Fingers crossed the right catches up!

50 hours until scan. Someone speed up time already!

mandasand · 24/10/2012 11:29

Yes, these will be my first and second babies, so surely I should have an appt in between 16 and 28 weeks? 12 weeks seems a looooong time to wait, even though I am seeing the consultants in the hospital in between, at 23 weeks? Hmm, maybe I got it wrong when I made a note of what she said ?
