Hi all! Apologies for previous lurkage but am only just beginning to feel more human as ms is subsiding slowly- I'm 18 wks this week. Yey!! We were loaned a Summer Infant Doppler from Argos but was rubbish so we ordered the Angelcare one from Amazon (£20) which is fantastic! ! Only downside is it only has 1 set of headphones whereas other had 2 but very reassuring between scans. our next scan is in 3 wks which feels like an age away (will be 21wks). On subject of Pinterest I am absolutely addicted! Have got loads of ideas for crafts I will never find time to make!! How do I get onto the Facebook group ladies?

Ooee4444 · 23/10/2012 05:31

Sorry mean Angelsounds. This one- amazon.co.uk/dp/B008GSGE0I x

ThreeForTea · 23/10/2012 08:51

Hey! By time I'd got home from hosp, cooked tea and settled dd yesterday I'd crashed and couldn't enjoy it but scan went well and we are having... a boy!!

So excited to join team blue (despite now need to have a complete clear out Grin ) also sonogropher made sure cysts were all gone, and so far George pig (as dd keeps saying!) is head down where I'm hoping he'll stay ready for his lovely vbac!

Thanks for all good lucks yest, and the same for all today's candidates!

sundaesundae · 23/10/2012 08:57

Ooee hello! The summer infant is the one I stupidly bought, going to send it back I think as the crackling is awful. Just waiting for amazon with my proper one. My scan is 6th November, so two weeks for me, it seems like forever still!

Three, great news! Glad all was well and yay for team blue!

Tramp, my bump was very very wiggly, I seem to have a night owl, 9-11pm is active time I thnk, or I am very gassy!!

Sleeping dreadfully at the moment and keeping OH awake :( my dream genii makes me very hot, I might need to buy a second duvet so OH and I can have one each as it might help having a warm one for him and a light one for me.

OctoberCarrot · 23/10/2012 09:10

Hi everyone. Have been actively reading but haven't posted yet. Am due DC2 on March 9th. Have a DS is one so will be kept on my toes.

We have our 20 week scan tomorrow afternoon. Am so nervous/excited. We found out on DS what we were having and told everyone. Have decided this time to find out but are not going to tell anyone that we have. So conflicted as to what we "want". Last baby and the girly girl in my would love a DD but would live DS to have a brother. Anyway whatever it is we will be happy.

Sleeping dreadfully as well and waking DH up who is not impressed

Looking forward to "chatting" with everyone.

OC x

zoeymlucas · 23/10/2012 09:24

I am sleeping bad too and DH had the cheek to moan about the noises my back/ pelvis makes when I move - it does sound like something in a bone cruncher yard but there isnot much I can do about it, my mobillity is hugely going down hill and try as I might to ignore it I can see bed rest comeing my way sooner than I like Sad

Welcome October I have 2 boys and am expecting number 3 and my DS2 is only a year old as well so I know how you fell about them keeping you on your toes!
Welcome to team blue three and glad everything went well for you at the scan I am always exhausted after scans, I think its as I never sleep the night before.

Baby Lucas has really started kicking a lot more the last few days and I can feel him soooo much more which is nice, apart from he likes to wake up as i get into bed does not sit well for future

On food news I bought a toastie maker for the office on the way to work and some cheese and ham and am so blinking excited for lunch Grin

mandasand · 23/10/2012 09:52

Okay, quite moany question. I have a cold. Yesterday I took about four paracetamol over the course of the day to take the edge off the razorblade throat, general achiness and horrible head. I'm guessing that's okay, but is there anything else I can take? I had some eucalyptus oil next to me in bed last night, which helped with breathing, but DH looked it up and said I shouldn't inhale it neat when preg, or something. I'm sure Lockets must be okay though? Will catch up with you all inabit once I've had some brek.

ThreeForTea · 23/10/2012 10:43

Yukky about cold manda lockets say they're fine for pg on packet. What about some fresh ginger tea also or some fresh lemon and honey?

zoeymlucas · 23/10/2012 11:02

Really sorry to hear your feelin poorly Manda there is so much of it going round at the mo, hope you feel better soon! My consultant said i could take 1 sudafed every 4 hours instead of 2 but the box does say not for pregnant people but he says everthing says that as no one knows, so i do take them when really needed but can understand why some people wouldnt.

mandasand · 23/10/2012 11:15

Thanks for advice, Three and Zoey. Yes, should go out and replenish honey stocks and get some lemon and lockets too. But it's wet and miserable out there and keep putting it off! I think we've got some ginger tea lurking somewhere and maybe some sudafed (might take one tonight as I kept waking up not being able to breathe!). Good ideas, thank you! How's your cold coming along, possom? I'm sure it's worse when preggo. I don't normally feel this rough! Sounds like a few of us are / have been suffering, booooo.

Have also turned into the grump from hell. The phone company 3 is the object of my ire this morning. My phone isn't working and I discover it's no longer under warranty. It's the same problem I had in January when it was under warranty. They supposedly fixed it but the problem has been gradually coming back and it's become unmangeable now. So, I have to pay to get it fixed on top of my monthly fee. Or I can pay them £165 to terminate my contract. I don't know who I'm more cross with: 3 for being a money-grabbing, low-service company or me for not realising it was a 12-month warranty on a 24-month contract. I'm not sure this is normal, but rather because it was a reconditioned phone to start off with. My advice? Never get a reconditioned phone! I did so on advice of DH who gets a reconditioned everything and never has problems. Grr.

Anyway, on to nicer things:

Three YAY for team blue! Smile

Welcome October!

Zoey, cheeky DH!!

DJH that newborn clothes thread is really helpful - thanks for sharing.

Lanny, Sheldon (and others?) good luck for scans today!

Nice find re dress, Hermione! I am prone to a few spots on chest at the best of times. Was extra spotty in early pregnancy but now hardly anything (for the first time in my life - it's great!) BUT I have been told by doc that I can continue to use my regular spot cream whilst preggo. Duac, it's called.

A July thread?!!! Wow! Go us!

Mornin' All,

Pink Gruffalo trip sounded fab! My DS would have loved a day out like that. One for when we are next down south I think.

Ethel New hairdo sounds gorgeous! Yes definitely lets make a date for the next NCT York sale. It's 1 December at Joseph Rowntree School. My BF was telling me she bought an ICandy Apple at her local NCT sale for £150! Bargain!

Three Yay for healthy baby boy!! Fab news. Myjob pleased to hear about your healthy scan too. Wish my low lying placenta would bugger out of the way. Am a bit worried about it to be honest but have another scan at 36 weeks to see if it's moved so will be good to see baby again. I'm just terrified of having to spend an extended time in hospital if it decides to start bleeding Sad

Manda sorry to hear you are feeling so rough. Pregnant colds are a whole other thing - I had so many last time, they really wipe you out. Hot honey and lemon is lovely and soothing and if you put a dispersable (sp?) paracetamol in there too that is nice for the throat (though tastes a bit Hmm) I used to use Karvol drops when I was pregnant with ds, I didn't really read the packet but figured that if you can use them on very young babies then they must be ok. Same for the saline nose spray....

Welcome October and Ooee!

Zoey a toastie maker for the office?? Please can I come and work for you? Yummy!!

Sundae sorry to hear you are not sleeping well. We're due for a cold snap at the end of the week maybe you will cool down a bit then?! Not nice. It was 30 degrees when DS was born I didn't sleep a wink for about a month...

A due in July thread?? Oh my word... I was on a due in July thread (not on MN) with DS three years ago.. Time flies....

GummiberryJuice · 23/10/2012 12:25

Place marking so I don't lose you all shall catch up later, I have appointment tonight with Thyroid specialist

GummiberryJuice · 23/10/2012 12:28

Em my sil had bleeding due to low placenta before 20 wks they didn't keep her in. She still has a few pockets of blood showing on scans but healthy happy baby and no more bleeding I think she's about 25 wks now

GummiberryJuice · 23/10/2012 12:30

Her bleeding seemed to coincide with it moving away from cervixfx crossed for you

Welcome October, pore pm someone who is in Fb group manda is the resident expert

Three yea for team blue

GummiberryJuice · 23/10/2012 12:31

Ooee not pore

Em2010 · 23/10/2012 12:44

Thanks Guys. The good news is that my placenta is already clear of the cervix which seems to be the worst case scenario. Gummi I think you're right, as far as I can understand, the bleeding (if I have any) should be caused by the placenta moving. Myjob yes, i'm sure they would have booked you in for a second scan if they had any doubt at all - something to do with the NICE guidelines (not that i've been googling...much... Blush)

Rainbowbabyhope · 23/10/2012 12:45

manda sympathy for you on the cold - currently have one too and its just miserable when its so grey out. I personally stick to just honey and lemon and don't even take paracetamol or anything else at all when pregnant. I figure that a little extra discomfort for me is a very tiny price to pay for DD to be kept free from medication.

Yay to everyone for all the scans - we are having another one on Thursday just for reassurance and then another next week to check growth. Basically having one every 1-2 weeks until Christmas. Scans are just so comforting!

sundaesundae · 23/10/2012 13:11

My doppler arrived! Have listened to baby 150bpm ish, definitely not me and definitely not placenta :)

Manda hope cold improves, Rainbow yay for scans :)

Em I will be in a train carriage so hopefully lots of sea air in aberporth will send me to sleep!

mandasand · 23/10/2012 13:41

Thanks for cold sympathy and sorry to hear you're suffering too, Rainbow (and I admire you staying away from paracetamol!) Glad it's true that colds seem to be worse in pregnancy, Em Smile Karvol a v.g. idea, thanks! DH is getting lemon and honey on way home so that's something to look forward to. Just caught sight of self in mirror and look like Rudolf with my red nose!

Had a right old moan to DH at lunchtime after which we had a laugh and I felt a bit better. Have even got as far as getting out of bed and sorting out my underwear and sock and tights drawers, chucking away holey stuff and storing things I haven't a hope in hell of getting into for the foreseeable! Now even more exhausted but really glad to have made a very small start in organising self/house.

Glad about your happy scan myjob and your doppler sundae!

Gummi good luck with thyroid person tonight - let us know how you get on.

Em2010 · 23/10/2012 14:02

Oh Manda very impressed with your sort through! Must be a nesting thing - I did the same yesterday. DH came home to find a huge pile of filled bin bags ready to go up in the loft!

I'm doing no work today... Off for my flu shot now.

theTramp · 23/10/2012 14:38

Place marking - back anon, yay for scan news, hello newbies and boo to nasty colds and low lying placenta.

ThreeForTea · 23/10/2012 14:51

zoey how was lunch? :)

Congrats for your good scan myjob!
Em hope jab is ok and you don't end up too bruised!

manda I need to sort clothes out again, have been a serious hoarder but have become a little more ruthless in my old age. Dd's room is next!

Have had a full in morning at work, a 6 month training and mentoring programme as just come to an end. I have loved having my mentor, particularly since I've changed roles. I've asked her if I could possibly do some shadowing with her during my mat leave and she thinks it will be fine which is great :) I don't really know what job i'll be offered after maternity as at the moment my old role doesn't exist. The person I was meant to job share with in July has been taken on full time due to me being risk assessed out. T'will be a brave new world 2013!
