Manda no I didnt mention the stuff we had given them though I wanted to but was slightly miffed that they done it to be honest, imagine if I had bought it and it had stuff I had given them in I would of been fuming, plus i gave them baby bath and my silvercross car seat which cost £120.00 which I dont mind but to try and then sell stuff back to me did not impress me!!
Mole removal is at doctors but its only because it sits right where the underwire on my bra does and rubs and sometimes bleeds, its not a dodgy one so hoping it will only take half hour and they wont need to remove skin around

Your cold sounds awful and I bet you are even more glad you pulled out of conference next week now.

sundaesundae · 22/10/2012 14:40

www.amazon.co.uk/Sonoline-Fetal-Doppler-BackLit-Display/dp/B005FLWYE4/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_t_1 I went for this one in the end. It turns up tomorrow.

Manda that sounds fab, I think I could do with some osteo or a massage, will probably wait till after scan.

I keep getting an odd sort of scratchy pressurey feeling in one place on the left of my bump. It feels a bit sore, but only for half a second. Anyone know what it might be?

Sheldonella · 22/10/2012 15:30

Still haven't ordered the coat as I had to take off my cardigan when I went to buy lunch as I was so hot! It is pretty warm today though and I'll be pg through the coldest times... I will probably order it today.
zoey That does sound annoying. I might have said something casual I think.
manda Sympathies on the cold, hope it doesn't last long. Sounds like you got a great haul at the weekend, how lovely.
sundae Could it be baby kicking a nerve or stretched ligament or something like that? Some of my movements are uncomfortable in places.
Ok, all being well tomorrow I'm going start buying some clothes I think. What are the newborn essentials? I was looking at the sleepsuits and little vests but they seem to come with sleeves and as sleeveless. So many options! What do I need? I'm feeling very clueless.

OP posts:
pinkpeony4 · 22/10/2012 15:30

Manda that is how I feel after the Chiro, it's like magic has been performed!! Wow to your haul of stuff from
Family, how fab. We have a LOT of baby equipment & clothes so will be donating all to my sister after this one for when she has a baby. It will give us so much more storage space Smile

Sundae & Emus I always think the time between the two main scans is a hard one. You generally feel so much better than you did in the first trimester and you may not have much of a bump or feel pregnant. It's always so nice to have your scan to check all is ok. In my previous two pregnancies I had an anterior placenta and so didn't feel movement for ages. It's like a lovely treat this time to have been feeling movements for a while.

I love that IO coat, does it have 25% off too? What is the code?

Zoey I hope all goes well at your mole removal & scan. I have had several miles removed after a malignant melanoma 5 years ok and it can be sore for a while depending on how big the incision is. I can't believe the cheek of your friend!!! I think I would have to say something, maybe ask if you could have back the stuff you GAVE them because some of it has sentimental value?!

Three lots of luck for your scan!

Em enjoy your peaceful day

Stormy I have never had to have a full bladder for any scan in any of my pregnancies but maybe that depends on the hospital?

Gummi I am the same as you and hate paper pants. I just bought cheap black pants and chucked them if necessary. Bleeding has never been as bad as I expect though.

Sorry to anyone else I have missed. I am
On my phone & it's really hard to name check. We went on a Gruffalo trail in the Forest of Dean today. It was v sweet & had wooden carved animals from the Gruffalo telling the story, they then had a Gruffalo menu in the cafe so boys had roasted fox & scrambled snake (sausages and chips & spag Bol) followed by owl ice cream (vanilla ice cream with owl shaped biscuits) weather was pretty crap and it was v muddy but we had fun.

Scan on Thursday so been having terrible insomnia worrying about it!!

pinkpeony4 · 22/10/2012 15:37

Sheldon sorry not to ne check but was it you with the coat? Good luck for your scan. I always buy the short sleeves body suits & then put a babygro over the top & cardigan depending on the weather. I would also buy a couple of cotton hats, few pairs of socks, I also love nighties on newborns, really easy for night time nappy changes. www.mothercare.com/Little-Bird-by-Jools-Fawn-Flannel-Bundler/482262,default,pd.html?cm_sp=ProductFeatures--Category%2520landing--Little%2520Bird%2520by%2520Jools%2520Fawn%2520Flannel%2520Bundler like the one in the link. Maybe a pram suit/coat. That's about it for newborn clothes, mine live in babygro's for the first 4/5 months! Easy & cosy.

Sheldonella · 22/10/2012 15:40

Aww thats lovely thanks pink. I can't look at the clothes too long as they make my eyes all misty :) Yes, it was me with the coat. The code is BEST25 and the coat is in the offer.

OP posts:
zoeymlucas · 22/10/2012 15:49

Pink that sounds like a lovely day and loved the theme named food :)
I have taken the stance if she needs to be like that then let her get on with it, and am not lowering myself to mention it to her - I am normally a total hot head the Irish in me but feeling rather mellow or tired today!
There seems to be a few scans this week which is exciting as I love hearing about other peoples scan and seeing pictures on facebook and how different they all are already and how they seem to all already ahve there little things they do like hands over face :)

Am super excited I was on freecycle earlier as looking to make things for babys room etc and I have given up with crotchet as I just cant do it at all and someone has offered me a knitting machine AND sewing machine - I collect them tomorrow evening after work so wait for trip to A&E as I am SO clumbsy.

Sheldonella · 22/10/2012 16:01

I ordered the coat, eek!
That is a great find zoey. I would be interested to hear how you get on with the knitting machine. I'm thinking of making curtains for baby's room. I want these but you can buy the fabric so much cheaper.

OP posts:
Lexiindisguise · 22/10/2012 16:08

Aww pink I love the idea of the Gruffalo themed day! One of my favourite books - I love reading it to my grandson!
That coat looks lovely, all considering it. I got a cheapy one from H&M which is actually quite sweet, but nowhere near as stylish as the IO one!
Oooh zoey a knitting machine! Sounds great!
This is going to sound really odd, as I am sure it is too early, but does anyone else feel like baby is pressing on their bladder occasionally? Sonographer said Bean is lying very low and was head down at the scan, happily kicking her feet in the space, and friends have commented that the bump looks low. Today I have almost some pressure like pain, it feels like she is really sleeping down there.
manda chiro sounds heavenly. Might check it out as feeling quite creaky!

sundaesundae · 22/10/2012 16:16

grandson?

I have been going to the loo every hour for the last week and definitely get a "I have to go now!" sensation, so I suspect it is bubba.

Sheldonella · 22/10/2012 16:18

Lexi Yes, definitely. The constant needing to wee went away for a while but is back now and I can only assume it is when she is kicking me in the bladder or sleeping on it! When I am lying in bed I am fine but if I turn over or get up I am suddenly desperate.

OP posts:
Lexiindisguise · 22/10/2012 16:22

Damn autocorrect - I meant godson!!

mandasand · 22/10/2012 16:53

Yeah Zoey that is just a bit cheeky! Maybe we should be charitable and imagine she forgot? I'm planning to make a spreadsheet of who gave us what and whether it's on long loan or gift as I know I'm going to forget! Wow to your sewing machine etc! I l-o-v-e freecycle!

Pink, precisely: I think SiL/BiL are really excited to have all the new-found space in their house! Smile Gruffalo trail sounds fab! Hey, it's nearly Thursday so it will be scan time before you know it!

Cold is really coming on so I hope this means it will bugger off quickly too. I've just had phone call from boss who could hear how bad it was and has ordered me to crawl into bed, so I'm MNing from there! Have tried to work but it's just not happening. Earlier I took all the babygros and things out of packets/off hangers and piled them up. We have about thirty or forty! Amazing. Wanted to wash them all and get them ready, but I'll only want to do it again nearer the time so might just put them in a suitcase for now (we don't have the baby furniture yet, or spare storage space). That's a little dent made in the baby mountain of stuff in the dining room anyway! Right, going to have a little lie down. Am fit for nothing.

backwardpossom · 22/10/2012 18:00

sheldon those curtains are beautiful! Grin

zoey great find on the Freecycle front - it's only crap that gets put on our one unfortunately :(

manda hope your cold bogs off quickly. I think I'm coming down with one too - DS is struggling a bit today with one, so I'm unlikely to get away with it...

Lexi LOL at your autocorrect!!!

I am exhausted today, feel so so so tired! DH is working in Inverness so wont be back for at least another couple of hours... Rubbish.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod · 22/10/2012 18:51

Not caught up at all. Too much talking today. My head is scrambled from work. Couldn't park near the house so took me 15 mins down the street :(

Occupational health tomorrow. Do you think they actually know SPD? And will they say anything useful?

DJH80 · 22/10/2012 18:55

Sheldon - I started a thread on what newborns should wear and got loads of brilliant advice. Here it is: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1593198-Silly-question-but-what-do-new-born-babies-actually-wear

Hooray for scans.

GummiberryJuice · 22/10/2012 19:00

Evening ladies

Three hope scan went well

Emus I am so excited for you I love Vegas, where are you staying, I've stayed in the Monte Carlo on Honeymoon, and the Excalibur when dd1 was 2, I was nearly 20 weeks pg with ds at the time.

Manda enjoy getting all excited looking through all your baby stuff, exciting.

Re Doppler the gp today found it hard to find little beans heartbeat, even though it was giving a Bpm so I would worry if I couldn't find it, although I have been tempted to buy one

Sheldonella · 22/10/2012 19:02

Thanks DJH that's very useful.

lannyshrops · 22/10/2012 19:41

Evening all!
On BIG computer instead of phone like normal, so going to do my best to name check now!

Congratulations on lovely scans sarah, three
Good luck for scan tomorrow sheldon we share scan days!! I'm at 4pm then DH and I are going out for dinner (which we've not done for ages) and mothercare shopping before hand, so I am V excited for lovely afternoon/evening!

sundae I have the angel sounds doppler and I have been able to hear beans hb since about week 16, that said, I lost it for a while (which made me panic as it was last week, I was not well, the house was full of fumes from the builters doing the flat roof on the extention) but then found it again! I do find it hard to get sometimes due to beans mobility, I find reassurance in the fact that I get thumps and thwacks and then a little train noise! I dont listen everyday, but when I woke up last friday morning at 2am following a vile dream convinced that something was wrong, I got a hb straight away and was very reassured.

em hope the toothache continues to improve - a tooth per child - bah!

Glad you had a nice weekend tramp

JoJo Envy at your crib!!! I really, really want one, but canot justify the expense, can I share yours please?!?!?!

zoey Confused re the friends and the baby clothes - how rude!!!

Hurrah for new osteopath manda and for weekend haul! Boo for cold though! Sad We have even more stuff from SIL now, two buggies a light weight one and the bigger 3 wheeler with pram attatchments for when tiny. Is all at in laws at the moment as our whole kitchen and dining room is allover the house due to extention etc. I feel your pain with the space issue!!

ood sorry you are not well, in my experience occy health say whatever you want them to say! I have never found them helpful as either a manager or staff member. They will probaby support you in whatever you need though, if you tell them what it is you want. IYSWIM??

I am feeling better although not 100%, have lovely cough and keep loosing my voice! I went back to work today and have made a few changes.

I am monitoring the temp on the ward so I have them clearly documented for the pregancy risk assessment I am yet to have! I have removed myself from active clinical duties as I am finding it far too difficult with the heat to remain safe in practice. I am purely supervisory managerial now. I have yet to inform my Matron, but seeing as I saw her for two seconds this morning and a prommise to return which did not materilise, it's her problem! Bean is my priority! As I have done the pregancy risk assessment, and regularly reviewed it, for my member of staff who is pregant, I am well aware of my rights! Grin

I still accompany the consultants on the ward rounds but I now take a chair and sit down at every patient. It's lovely actually as when I explain to the patients why I am sitting down, que lovely conversations about their children when they were babies etc. It seems to make them all happy to talk of nicer times. Makes me feel like a nurse again with time to care - fabulous!

(phew..sorry for long post, will promise not to go on big computer too often and subject you to essays!)

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 22/10/2012 19:49

Hi all, marking place, now for the catching up!!!

theTramp · 22/10/2012 20:03

Re: baby clothes, with exception of items my Mum bought I'm waiting for late Dec/early Jan sales. WAs a fair bit of summer stuff in sale in John Lewis when was there a few weeks ago so expecting some but not all to make it to sale later too. Not to put you off buying now, more of a - if there's stuff you like is it worth noting & waiting?

The IO coat is really lovely & I think would suit in winter. Not the thickest coat in world but combine with a jumper & hat and I'm sure you'd be fine.

There's a couple of IO dresses on their faves list that I think would look lovely for a crimbo do. I've a long black jersey dress I bought a few years ago which shouldsuit should I get any posh party invites but I'm keeping my eyes peeled on a coupleof longer numbers on IO just to see if they make it to a sale of somedescription.

Only just finishing up work and on way home now. Been a long day and it's an early start tom. Am shattered. Have decided to book myself a lie in on Wednesday :)

Manda - hope cold clears up soon.

Am looking forward to more scan news from people.

I think you may be on to something with the more room thing when tall - she says sans bias. Masseur on Friday was saying my bumps not that big when you put in proportion to rest of me, which was sweet. I suspect bumps size is as much carb diet related as it is baby though.

Re bladder - I'm amused by how I can go for hours without needing loo (unlike few weeks ago) or I have to go 3 times in an hour. I've assumed it's all down to as and when Socs decides to bounce up and down on the right spot to "force the issue" so to speak. Apparently I've an inverted womb, which I presume means is upside down. So I'm used to probs like this - used to increase need for loo visits for early period because pressure etc. Ah the glamour! :)

Party planning - I've managed sod all today, surprise surprise.

Zoey - I'm impressed by your restraint but not sure why you were. If theyre proper friends a reminder that you gave them a ton of stuff for nout and a note that you're disappointed same courtesy wasn't extended strikes me as perfectly reasonable. I have a friend who does stuff like that. After 18 years of it I've just started telling her that she's peed me off and why. She doesn't like it of course, in her own head she's a v reasonable saint, but reality hurts and I'm buggered if I'm coping with another 18 years of such crap. Grumble grumble etc.

Small child on train last Friday - oh my goodness but it's raining hard mummy. Oh my goodness but I'm really wet mummy. Oh my goodness but that lady is wet mummy etc etc. Poor mummy, she was wincing with every oh my goodness!

GummiberryJuice · 22/10/2012 20:17

There is a July thread we're nearly old hands Grin remember when we were newbies

HermioneBoo · 22/10/2012 22:23

Shock a July thread? It hardly feels like a month since we were the newest thread and it was all so scary!
tramp I bought my dress for the black tie awards ceremony :) I found a brand new with tags Seraphine dress on eBay, maxi with silver beading on the straps and below the bust, I'm so excited for it to arrive :) got it for £37 too so more to spend on the bag and shrug to match!
Is anyone else still getting spots? I just can't seem to get rid of the spots on my chest, I have the same routine there as I do on my face and my face has cleared. May have to invest in a lot of concealer when this black tie event comes up!
Got my scan on Wednesday first thing, trying not to get nervous or think about anything bad. BabyBoo is getting a lot more powerful with the kicks, I get distracted mid conversation by them!
manda hope your cold clears up soon, sounds like a corker so I hope you're in bed and getting plenty of rest!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 22/10/2012 22:45

Hi all

It has taken me an age to catch up, but caught up I have!

All good here, although having got over an horrendous sore throat (like razor blades) now my headache has returned. Marvellous.

Went to stop with friends in sYorks this weekend, both of whom have twins. Was great and went to see Jesus Christ superstar on Sunday whilst the older set of twins looked after DD. hooray!

Still not much movement here at all, if any. Hoping mw was right when she said placenta is anterior. Got scan a week today anyway, so hopefully that will make me feel better.

No paper pants here, just massive supermarket cheapos (think tesco size 20s!)

Scans here are defo full bladder for both; it's actually on a sticker on my green notes! And a wee sample as well here.

Hair is looking good I think. has been likened (by DHHmm) as a cross between Justin beiber and Claire balding! Great! But I really like it, will try to get a good pic.

Jojo/em, if I can will join you for NCT dec sale?

Hope all those with aches and pains are feeling better.

Great news on stack of baby stuff manda!
thinking of you all, but must get to bed. Back to work tomorrow after a week pretty much off, nursing DD. DD back to nursery tomorrow, so don't want to be flapping about too much in the morning!

By the way, did many people reply to the York meet up poll? manda kindly reposted the link to the poll on Facebook, but looked to me like not many people had replied?

Love to all. Catch up tomorrow!

theTramp · 23/10/2012 00:14

Hermione - that sounds gorgeous, great find. And I recommend tea tree, neat, dabbed on to chest spots - surprisingly effective.

Eth- glad hair is fab. I'm bit muddled re what's going on with York but point me in right direction & I'll be there.

Early am tomorrow but can't sleep as tummy presently feels like a washing machine!
