Justers · 29/04/2006 11:05

Disaster, I'm on holiday when it starts! Oh well just have to set the video timer!

wuzzlefraggle · 29/04/2006 11:11

im going away for a week in june (oh yeah, BB is on for 13 weeks this year...woohoo!!) and thanks to the god-send that is sky+, im gonna be recording it for a week too lol.

Justers · 29/04/2006 11:22

It is complusive viewing but wouldn't dream of going on it myself. Do you know if you have to get special travel insurance when you go abroad?

wuzzlefraggle · 29/04/2006 11:30

na, i wouldnt go on it either.

what do you mean re special travel insurance, because of being pregnant?

wuzzlefraggle · 29/04/2006 11:46

anyways juster, beofre i go to do some shopping - re the travel insurance, dp and I have got the highest insurance band that they were offering (we have a holiday package with thomsons) and thats all...the only thing that we had to change about the hoiday was the seats on the plane. because im pregnant, we could no longer sit in the extra leg room seats that we had booked and had them changed. HTH xox

Justers · 29/04/2006 11:48

Yes, sorry i wasn't being very clear. It's just that when i've applied online for insurance they don't ask if your pregnant or not and i would hate not to be covered.

Justers · 29/04/2006 11:49

Thanks for that, happy shopping.

squishy · 29/04/2006 12:46

Hello!! I'm new to Mumsnet this morning although have had the books since finding out I'm pregnant with our first. Am 14 weeks and just starting to feel a little more human some of the time. Working flat out and most days for the first 10 weeks I just wanted to go to bed all the time! Thank goodness it's beginning to get better!

Seona1973 · 29/04/2006 13:46

for the insurance I booked for our holiday you had to tick a disclaimer to say you were not due to give birth within 8 weeks of going on holiday or within 8 weeks after your return date. I think this means you are covered as long as you are less than about 30/32 weeks - you had to phone them directly if you were going to be that far along and I suppose that it would raise your premium or you would have to get a doctor to sign to say you were ok to travel. We go away on 2nd June - hope I will be able to fit in the seat/fasten the seatbelt!!

Justers · 29/04/2006 13:55

Hello there squishy! thanks for advice seona i'll have to get insurance sorted today. Looking forward to last holiday without kids although i'll be looking like a beached whale!

Gingeme · 30/04/2006 10:03

Welcome squishy hope you are well. Has anyone picked up their first Bounty pack yet? May I ask what you thought? Was it realy worth it? I remember my first one(mind you was 12 years ago!)and there was loads of stuff in it. Now you get a couple of creams and some money off vouchers. Woooppeee. Sorry had to get that off my chest.Ok catch you ladies soon xx

squishy · 30/04/2006 12:47

:) Thanks! I received my first Bounty pack a couple of weeks ago and it has been no use whatsoever - a catalogue (with over priced clothes) offering me £5 off an order over £50, but that's it!!! No freebies, samples, lots of wasted paper for my recycling, though! :o

majormoo · 30/04/2006 14:12

hello everyone
welcome squishy and Highlander
Glad to hear Big Brother is back-I am always addicted.
Went to a lovely wedding yesterday. DD stayed with in-laws (will be back soon) so had a lie in as well this morning. Wedding was in Chelsea town hall-really grand reception room. Had a Morrocan theme and belly dancers came in at about 7pm!! It was a free bar all evening so bit of a shame I had to be sober while everyone else degenerated into drunken messes.

Lots of people were there I used to work with so made a point of telling them I was pregnant in case they thought 'goodness she's let herself go since she left the city '. The bump is deinitely obvious now as people had already noticed at the wedding and also when I took DD to the park on Friday people spotted it. So doesn't look like I will be keeping it quiet from most people til after the scan unfortunately.

It is just weird and difficult for me telling people. At the wedding everyone was excited for us and asking questions but all the time I am thinking 'but but but I'm not confident I will actually HAVE a baby at the end of all this.' Oh well, I suppose lots of people feel like that after a loss.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying bank holiday.

wuzzlefraggle · 01/05/2006 15:29

no problem justers :)

welcome squishy Grin glad to hear that you are starting to feel better now.

majormoo- sounds like everything went nicely at the wedding. glad that you had a good time :)

hopw that every1's morning sickness is going now

Seona1973 · 01/05/2006 20:20

has anyone else had a really long gap between midwife appointments ? - I'm starting to feel left out Sad.

I had a pre-booking in appointment at around 8 weeks and then my proper booking in at around 10 weeks (although i thought I was around 12 weeks at that point). I havent got another appointment with them until 9th June which will make it 8 weeks since my last one - will be almost 18 weeks by then. (havent been weighed, measured, had a urine test or had my bloods done for the downs/spina bifida screening test yet)

Luckily I had another scan at around 14 weeks as the baby was too small at the first one (10 weeks) to do any measurements or I would be feeling very unwanted by now.

Roll on next Tuesday!!

Justers · 01/05/2006 21:14

hi seona i'm not sure if other areas are different but i got my bloods and urine checked at my 12 weeks booking appointment, then got my downs screening at 15 weeks. I have just had a look at the leaflet i received and it says that the down's test can be done between 15 and 18 weeks, so you should be ok. i'm not due another appointment until my 20 week scan (i'm 16 weeks at the mo).

Gingeme · 01/05/2006 22:09

Good evening ladies. Funny I was thinking that earlier when I looked at my calender. I had my 12 week scan lst Wed the 26 April and dont have any appointments to see my midwife till 14th June. Thought you were supposed to see mw every 4 weeks! On a better note I am realy beginning to notice baby moving now. Thought it was wind at first but its totaly different feeling. Its lovely. Still got thrush though and its realy getting me down. Gonna try to get an appt with my gp tomm.

Sunshine78 · 02/05/2006 08:41

I go to midwife every 6 weeks starting at 12 weeks then if same as when had DS when hit 30 weeks go every 4 weeks till hit 36 weeks then every week - beleive me you will be fed up with it then! Used to always get in the way with the day!

majormoo · 02/05/2006 13:46

Seona-I had urine, bloods etc done at 12 week booking appointment. Had an appointment on Friday at 16 weeks (heard heartbeat-lovely) but will not be back now til around 25 weeks I think (although I have to ring them back for an appointment as mw can;t book her own appointments for some reason.) Does seem a long time to wait, but I think once it gets to 28 weeks appointments get a bit more regular
