Didn't want to read and go, Zoey, even though I hardly ever post. Sure everything will be fine but you're absolutely doing the right thing calling them - and they were great when I phoned in tears at 6 weeks.

Thinking of you, hope everything's fine, really sure it will be x

Emus · 14/10/2012 22:23

Thinking of you Zoey, hope everything is ok x

Em2010 · 14/10/2012 22:44

zoey hope you're ok (I'm sure you will be!) Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you.

backwardpossom · 14/10/2012 23:52

Hope you're ok, zoey x

We were lucky with potty training with DS. He decided just before his second birthday that he didn't want nappies anymore, so we went for it and he was reliably dry during the day within about 2 weeks. Then at 2 and a half, he decided he didn't want a nappy at night and that went well, too. I think the trick is making sure you wait until they're really ready and if they instigate it, even better. Cloth nappies helped too, I think!

Hey ladies, sorry for not catching up before, still feeling rotten and not able to slow down at the moment.

Thanks theTramp, wish I could rest, just seems too much to do, but the ILs had the baby last week which helped, although I felt dreadful for having to give her up for the second week in a row. I feel like I have asthma constantly now, although it?s obviously not, just that horrible heavy feeling. Oh and added to the virus I?ve been getting irritable contractions the whole time, sometimes coming every 3 minutes, sometimes randomly when I roll over in bed. So not much rest!

Decided against getting the immunisations, no point to getting H1N1 when I?ve had the bug anyway and talking to a midwife I know she doesn?t think it?s a good idea, sent a few links about it. I?m not a fan of immunisation anyway, particularly uncomfortable with doing that to my daughters (as would sons be if I had them but girls see the affect more) when they?re already at risk of a messed up immune system but I?m terrified of getting in trouble if I don?t as I seem to always have someone gunning for me. However, when it comes to me, I?ll decline!

Newyearsday ? how?s the Doula hunt going? Have you chosen someone?

Mandasand ? it?s only in the USA that you need to worry about runny eggs, it?s not an issue in the UK and I?m not sure it is in France. Nothing wrong with the odd glass of alcohol either, I always love a pint in pregnancy; I find there?s something extra refreshing about it. Yes to the bruising but aspirin and heparin might have something to do with that Wink I?m doubly prone at the moment I think with having a nasty autoimmune disease in pregnancy, my GP wasn?t willing to leave it and put me on antibiotics even though it?s a virus.

I went to an NCT Nearly New Sale yesterday, spent about £30 altogether and got loads of things, some clothes for the girls, lots of stuff to put up for Christmas and something for the baby, although I?m sure it?s a girl I held off buying anything girly because I don?t know for sure yet (scan tomorrow!) and because she?ll be early anyway I?m never sure what season we?ll be in ? unlike soap babies, premature babies don?t come home after two weeks looking like a 3 month old! Also picked up a mini Snazaroo kit and been doing face painting with the girls, really been enjoying myself! I?ve wanted to get into it for ages but never been confident enough in my abilities but now I?m looking at buying a proper kit and at least starting it for the school. Hopefully I?ll have it before half term and I can spend a day with my eldest (my middlie is a nightmare! She won?t sit still and she?s had three styles today because she keeps touching it then breaking her heart because they?re a mess) and my nephew doing some Christmas styles and get some practice for the school fair.

JoJoBella84 ? red hair and green doesn?t clash! Just think about nature, there?s very little that clashes with green and can you imagine being in theatre wearing green scrubs if red clashed? It?d mess with their eyes! They use green because they go together well. I had a boyfriend when I was a teenager who had copper hair, his school jumper was red and clashed and he was in St John Cadets and got called Duracell when he was in uniform! It can be a dodgy colour to match, I think the rest of the colouring has something to do with that, I used to be ginger when I was little, went strawberry then dark auburn in the right lights, but I still have the colouring and very little colour suits me. I wore a burgundy wedding dress because it?s one of the few colours that looks amazing on me.

Sheldon ? take some paracetamol!!! I?m on much stronger painkillers, you can take pretty strong stuff without having to worry about baby, pretty much when they have to give it you themselves and then there is an antidote they give the baby after birth to make sure there?s no harm ? I?m not even at that level.

Hope everything?s OK, Zoey!

lannyshrops · 15/10/2012 07:25

Chefette · 15/10/2012 08:39

((Zoey)) hope all is ok sending you super strength wishes x

Jojo pram looks wowza!

Sorry to all those feeling yuk, so unpleasant.

DSS toilet trained days 2.5 with some regression here and there, nights we've all tried in recent months, but it's too hit and miss so his Mum'll decide when we all next have a go, he is 4 next month, which is fine, he sleeps 12 hours a night so it's a long time to go. Friends of our whose son is 6 still wears pull ups at night.

Thanks for the loan of the wetsuit, Lanny, looks like I'll need it, given our roof sprang 3 leaks on fri/sat, one over the newly decorated dining room, the other two "just" water running down the walls in kitchen. Oh and rotten powdery timbers found when ripping out the kitchen which are fairly ominous, and finding that it's likely the new kitchen has been measured at 15 cm too short, to fit service lines and frame and board the walls, even with shaving parts off here and there......basically I had a total meltdown yesterday, but apparently a total waste if time, DP showed zero sympathy (but of course he does care just doesn't show it really, NOT what I need!), and basically shrugs and tells me to put trust in tradesmen-despite not being able to find a roofer to make house watertight, and the likely repercussions of delay to the trades lined up to do all the work........oh crikey bananas, this is possibly the most stressed I have ever been apart from PhD submission!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sundaesundae · 15/10/2012 08:51

Zoey hope you are ok, it is sooo scary, hopefully be same as me and nothing.

Hi all! Will catch up later, I have a 6hr day of driving so not in the mood for it!

backwardpossom · 15/10/2012 09:02

Morning all. Off to Aberdeen this morning for a day of shopping, yummy food, then going to see Kevin Bridges tonight. So excited, been looking forward to this for ages! My parents are taking DS tonight for us. Peace! Have a nice day everyone x

JoJoBella84 · 15/10/2012 09:04

Lexiindisguise · 15/10/2012 10:30

Zoey really hoping you are OK.
Chefette you poor thing with house stress. So frustrating when work is underway and suddenly there are so many more problems - we had similar with bathroom and I anticipate more problems when loft conversion starts!
Big week at work here for me; may not be on MN so much but will try and read and catch up!
xx

Em2010 · 15/10/2012 10:42

Morning All,

Think this potty training talk has been very interesting! I have a similar quandary re ds. I always thought I would potty train around 2 1/2 but that clashes with very close to when baby is due and I don't want to deal with regression... I could do it now but i'm not sure he's ready and if I leave it until after the baby is born, will I have the time and energy to do it??!!

Hope zoey and everyone else doing ok on this cold morning. Sorry for those of you with busy weeks. Feeling very tearful today. Already late for work as I had a meltdown before I left the house.....

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 15/10/2012 10:52

Hope you are ok Zoey. xxx

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 15/10/2012 10:59

em I've been feeling very emotional too, not so much tearful, more very irritable and angry.
Had a crap weekend with DH frankly because of me being so irritable and him being so defensive about everything. So all this, combined with spending entire weekend with ILs and DD having chicken pox has meant we have had a really shite time. I have sent him a great big email to his work, telling him how I feel, because if we talk about it face to face we'll end up having a massive barny. We generally have a good relationship but occasionally go through these phases. And it doesn't help that I really don't get on with his family and even though I grin and bear them, sometimes I wish he'd stand up to them. Sad

mandasand · 15/10/2012 11:15

Hello ladies!

Back from the land of croissants, a bit shell-shocked at getting back quite late, waking up at 0630 for an Ocado delivery (who thought that was a good idea?! erm, moi...) and now looking at my to do list. So have come on here instead, nice! :-)

Lanny and others thanks for birthday wishes! Smile

Zoey worried for you, my love. I'm sure everything is fine but hoping you can get checked out soon. Let us know won't you? Lots of good thoughts winging their way to you.

Eig sorry about the too frequent loo visits! Hurray for amnio text results tho :-)

Emus yay again that you're in and can now focus on fun stuff like furniture shopping! I'm back on my certirizine for urticaria (itchy skin auto-immune thing). Consultant said was absolutely fine. Could that help with rhinitis?

Sheldon I've been pretty well this pregnancy, with only a few minor sniffles, but I find my body is taking a much longer time to heal. So, if I get a spot it takes ages to disappear and for any redness to go. Guess it's to do with body being focused on babies not me?! Woohoo about the little kick!

Three haha re potty-training DH! I have no experience to offer, but it sounds do-able to me?! Only thing is if you are running after her wiping up any spillages/accidents with big old bump ? hmm.

Tramp nice to hear work is behaving!

Pink yay for your lie-in and feeling the baby kick! Smile

Chefette, things any drier over there?! Poor you! Oh dear, oh dear ? sorry to hear it's so stressful Sad I hear you e PhD submission - that is awful Shock

possom have a lovely day off!

JoJo glad to hear you have a tutor for diss. Hope meeting today goes well. Great to look for gaps in the literature. Thank goodness for e-journals at times like this! She may not expect you to have done more than lit review at the moment. Try and marry up any perceived gaps with your own interests which will help keep you focused in the research/writing. And I would hope she'd be kind about the time off and steer you in some good directions!

Lexi good luck with work this week!

Sorry Em and Ethel about hormones and mood-swings. Here too, if it's any consolation. I turned the air BLUE late last night from the top of the stairs when DH decided to do the pots when I was in the shower. I think the whole street may have heard my ranting Blush

Ah, confuddled so you think my morning aspirin may be exacerbating bruising? (I'm not a heparin user tho?) Jealous of your NCT sale bargains! I missed a good one that my friend wanted to take me to in Oxford yesterday. Next time, I hope!

For those not on FB, I think I felt some kicks nearish my belly button last night on the Eurostar home! I still think it could have been wind, but no, they were probably kicks - weeeee!

GummiberryJuice · 15/10/2012 12:29

Oh Zoey Hope everything is ok xx

Em2010 I tried to train my ds when he was just over 2 as we were due to move house, it was just too stressful, I let him be and when he was just over 3 and in our new house he decided himself, now I did have the potty sitting in the bathroom so he was aware and we talked about it quite abit. I had a great seat type potty that I kept in living room when they were first trained it will seave you running about in the middle of feeding a new baby etc.
I had a bottle of dettol surface aerosol spray sitting for after I washed it out.
I did find with ds he needed to have no pants on at first, then after 2 days he wore pants, by the end of the week he was great and all of mine used to fight they didn't want pull ups on at night, I used to say if they are dry in the morning then they wouldn't have to, they got very cross because I really mean't when the packet is all done Grin

Waves to everyone else, hope all colds are on the mind and we are maybe all starting to blossom

We'll be needing a new thread title soon Halloweens coming and the Marchers are getting fat, or something about our little pumpkins maybe!!

StormyBrid · 15/10/2012 12:57

Really hoping everything is okay for Zoey.

Very peculiar to see a whole twelve hours go by with no posts. Where is everyone?

On Saturday I discovered that eight and a half hour train journeys when pregnant are no fun at all. I fear my spine may never forgive me. On the plus side, I now get a week at my sister's, and she's acquired some maternity jeans for me (because I live down a cul-de-sac, and websites tend to refuse to accept my address exists, which makes shopping online problematic). They are the most comfortable trousers I've ever had, and a size smaller than my normal ones!

Potty training sounds quite intimidating. My sister was trying to potty train her younger daughter (just turned three) when they came to visit in August. On the first day she went through seven pairs of pants, mainly because she was too shy to actually say she needed the loo. By the end of the week, she was using the toilet with no trouble at all, and announced she was donating her potty for Stormageddon.

Right, time to sit on the doorstep with my feet up and enjoy this sunshine. It's like it's still summer here, it's mad.

StormyBrid · 15/10/2012 12:58

Wait, that's not twelve hours of no posts. I am clearly an idiot. Someone remin d me how to tell the time!

Chefette · 15/10/2012 13:04

Hi heard on FB Zoey is ok, baby is ok she has an infection from her cervical (I think?) stitch. Has been in hospital, but home with a yummy subway on sofa (steak flavour) Grin
