Vivre get a thread going on legal but that doesn't sound right at all Angry for you

At least in the wee small hours we know we're not the only ones lying fighting the temptation to go to the toilet one more time incase that's what is keeping us awake

TheAngelshavetheOod · 13/10/2012 13:08

vivee Go and Salford help on employment issues. Somebody helpful knowledgable people over there.

theTramp · 13/10/2012 13:15

Vice - find an employment lawyer and go through it with them. It'll be worth the £150-£200 consultation fee. The timing of this seems rather dodge but that doesn't necessarily mean they've stepped outside the law. Go armed with everything that you have in writing, so copies of your emails to HRetc. Also notes of dates and times that you called, although written evidence is better.

Thats really rubbish of them and I'm so sorry to hear that it's happening to you.

Pinky - gran to be is living 2 hours away and other gran to be is in Belfast. So close enough :)

I'm sitting outside my house because I've managed to lock myself out. I was taking out rubbish and though it was on the latch. Apparently not. Neighbour tried to help me break in with no luck so my brother who is 40 mins away is popping rouund with his key. Time to leave a key with a neighbour methinks. Although we did leave one with friend who lives 5 mins away, I called an she's out. All in all I'm doing brilliantly. Worst of all I'd just popped my lunch in the oven.

This follows rocking up 10 muns late for flu jab and almost missing it. Days going swimmingly! Think I can rewind and start again?

Vice should read vivee - bloody auto correct

Hi everyone. Ugh, I just had to abandon my DH and shopping in Waitrose to go and sit in the car. I'm fed up with this cold now and want it to just go away. I'm 19 weeks today, so close to half way!

tiddley Don't go! I enjoy your posts but you don't need to worry at all about keeping up.

vivee I'm annoyed for you, how awful of them. I agree with the others about posting in the legal section, surely it isn't right.

Gummi I'm not sleeping very well at all, I seem to wake a couple of times a night and can't get comfortable. I'm looking into getting a support pillow.

tramp Poor you, I hope you get in soon and your lunch isn't ruined. My mum is like that with baby clothes, it's quite sweet :)

Em Yay for being in the house, how exciting!

Right, should probably go for another lie down. I still haven't cracked and taken anything for this but I'm getting closer to doing so.

zoeymlucas · 13/10/2012 15:36

Just did a massive post and my darling DS2 pressed a button and wiped the lot - not even sure what he done but as soon as the laptop comes out he is like a child on a mission to press buttons and there is nothing you can so to get in his way - right now he is demanading DS1 shares his yogurt and is getting mad, lol!!
Gummi I dont sleep either much and tend to lay there watching the clock get closer to either work or boys getting up!
Congrats on your new house Em how very exciting for you :) However am not envious of the sorting out and unpacking!
I went out for a catch up with friends last night and popped into mums on way and she bought me a takeaway which was nice and also produced a bags of 'bits' she had bought for little man including vests and a raulph lauren top and jeans, then went to girls and didnt get in till 11.30 which is VERY late for me esp since I left the house at 7.30am for work!

theTramp · 13/10/2012 15:44

Ralph Lauren baby jeans?!

Thanks I got in eventually. Attempts to break in failed but my lovely baby bro popped round - interrupting his lunch out with friends - to open door with his spare key. Lunch was trashed but house didn't burn down?

Tramp What a nightmare, glad you're back in.

Vivee That sucks! Might be worth talking to your citizens advice bureau. They were helpful when DH left a job and was given his final pay as a cheque because the (small) company had been cocking up his student loan deductions for a few months and owed him back for that, plus some holiday pay, but then the gits went and cancelled the cheque without warning us and ignored all contact! Citezens advice bureau were dead helpful and contact the company on our behlaf to negotiate a settle ment and were able to give us advice on legal standing and all sorts (bassically it was also constructive dismisal but he'd only been there 11 1/2 months so pretty much had no rights).

Well, Having a good day here. Got washing done and out on the line, taken DS swimming for the first time since we did lessons whilst I was still on mat leave Blush and had a great time. AND, I managed to drink a glass of orange juice this monring! Finally something that isn't plain water. not braving a hot drink yet but goodness it was nice to have something to drink with some flavour.

JoJoBella84 · 13/10/2012 16:15

sheldon if you need to take something, you should do it! A paracetamol or two would make a difference to how you feel and aren't likely to harm baby sheldon!!
I've been popping 6-8 per day and baby was still bopping around during his scan! - must admit I'm down to two a day now though!

Are you going to give baby a quirky Big Bang theory name? Kind if like sheldon and his cats?!

I'd quite like Leonard as a middle name (was my grandad's name) but my big bro beat me to it when Gabriel arrived! he also nicked my dads name when Dominic came along so I'm utterly stumped for name ideas!!! May have to let mr JoJo name him after a golfer after all :D

ThreeForTea · 13/10/2012 17:56

Glad you got back in tramp, thats never fun!

Emuscongrats with move! Hope things are sorted lovely and soon :)

Tiddley please stay on thread when you can! Does move very fast but there are a lot of us as well aren't there, varying levels of posting!

Happy Birthdaymanda, hope you're being spoiled!

Vivee have you looked at the gov website re pg rights and redundancy at all? Really sorry that they have put you in this position :(

I had my flu jab today. Arm aches but doc assured me that I can't get flu from it! Am gearing up for two 'do's' tonight, a leaving do for a friend who's leaving work to have a baby and a catch up eve with another friend who has just got back from six months away. May be tired tomorrow!

theTramp · 13/10/2012 19:42

My day so hasn't gone according to plan. Have managed about an hours worth of work rather than the 8 I wanted and am retiring to bed early with blinding headache. Naturally it's all sinus - so nothing I can take. I've just had a bath flavoured with a combo of bio oil and eucalyptus and rubbed some neat eucalyptus into my temples and around some sinus pressure points and took a paracetamol in a - just incase - fashion. Have drunk about 6 litres of water it feels like and still heads pounding. This is exactly what happened last Saturday. Anyway, early to bed and hope to wake up capable of working or I'm completely stuffed.

One little decongestant and I'd be grand. Ya boo sucks.

zoeymlucas · 13/10/2012 19:47

Vivee I would say your first port of call should be to ring ACAS monday morning as they are purely employement law where as Cit advice cover alot of areas so its more a general knowledge of things.

Glad you got in Tramp, yeah Raulph Lauren jeans and the matching Raulph Lauren long sleeve polo Top - my mum really cant help herself!! I tend to stick to H&M, Next etc she also got some bits from Disney shop and Asda - she just buys what she likes where as I buy what I like and then consider price esp for little ones - my 9 year old is in to his fashion so he does get more expensive bits but i go to the outlet village by me.

Blimey Three 2 do's that sounds a bit like a late night to me, lol!!! Hope you have a fab night though.

We ordered Dominos and are watching Dancing then are putting on Snow white and huntsman and both DS fast asleep DS1 was naughty so went to bed early

Sheldon I wouldnt even blink twice about taking something like paracetamol to be honest, I spend most days on Co-codermal and a whole host of things and my consultant says it fine and safe as long as its controlled so paracetamol would be fine!

zoeymlucas · 13/10/2012 19:49

Tramp I have taken 2 sudafed as I couldnt take anymore - saw consultant Thursday and he said its fine as long as it last resort and not everyday just when its really needed

Vivee74 · 13/10/2012 21:24

Thanks for the brilliant advice re redundancy. Will ring both citizens advice and acas. after every meeting uve written up notes so have those and all correspondence. Knew they were up to something on Wednesday. Another girl I work with went on maternity leave yesterday. She was on a fixed term contract. Two days before she finished up they emailed her saying that they'd made a mistake on her entitlements in the email they sent her 6 months ago and they now wouldn't pay. She quoted citizens advice and they backed down. But hr know that they've set a precedent with her so obviously playing the game with me. Worried that they made sure they've covered themselves. Oh well will see what happens.

Otherwise went to John Lewis baby section for ideas on necessities and brands. Could do some damage with the cash I now don't have..

Hope those not well are feeling better soon.

mandasand · 14/10/2012 06:56

Tiddley, please don't go! I love your posts and it doesn't matter how little or often you can get here and don't bother about name-checking - just please don't disappear for good! In fact, everything I wanted to say has been put much more eloquently by Dame, above! Hope everything's okay with family and things. Sending hugs anyhow xx

Possom swim then chips is a perfect balance, surely?!

Tramp I am SO looking for that trinket! Esp as DH arrived with just a card and no pressie - not even one! :-o He used to be quite good at pressies but last year I think my disappointment with (1) a Le Creuset casserole to replace one that was originally his that I cracked (2) an anti-Boris Oyster card holder and (3) a leg-tie for my bike didn't go down particularly well with him! Hmm. His excuse yesterday? You didn't tell me what to buy. I'm not buying anything without a suggestion anymore! Not sure how to deal with this! Grrrr! Your Mum is so lovely! Bugger about headache. Hope today is really kind to you and you get the work done. Thinking of you.

JoJo, you mean you don't have a personal tutor? Bummer - that is always really useful with bigger writing projects. Any kindly lecturers/tutors you could take for a coffee and pick their brains?

Lexi nice one on the scan!!

Vivee that is crap, really crap. Some good advice on here. Thinking of you.

Sheldon glad I'm not the only one with those thread veins :-/ Mmm homemade pizza!

Oh Chefette, too much water, water everywhere! Hope today brings some fixes / respite!

Pink, yes Neal's Yard (now on High St) is a great thought - thanks! Used to go a lot but then switched to osteopathic massage instead. Will seek out a pregnancy specialist as I've really been struggling with all the walking this weekend!

Yippee for new house, Emus!

Thanks for all the birthday-weekend-wishes!! :-)

Lexiindisguise · 14/10/2012 07:49

Tiddley we'll miss you, hope all is OK!
Tramp I recommend using a Neti pot or similar- I have problem sinuses and find it really helps ease them. Bit weird to do but just a saline rinse so nothing harmful. Hope you have a better day today.
Sheldon hope you feel better soon!
About to get up & go to the Wool Show at Alexandra Palace - bit knackered but am duty driver! Large tea needed I think!

Emus · 14/10/2012 08:22

Sorry not to name drop, but thanks everyone for the kind wishes (you know who you are!).

Both DP and myself are so pleased to be in, especially as we didn't think it was going to happen a few times and came close to pulling out! DP was a STAR yesterday and pretty much left me alone to do nothing (well, I did an Ocado order which took about an hour!) and then I sat around watching DP hard at work! Today I should pull my finger out a bit more as there's still loads to do (although hopefully more fun stuff today like furniture shopping for extra storage that we now need!).

We also managed a night out last night (DP on the town with mates, me sitting have pizza with a friend!).

Can't wait for our shop to turn up today - who gets excited about a flipping food shop me, I do, hand up waving around frantically! now we can't start eating properly again!

Manda not sure when your birthday was but happy birthday! Hope you got spoilt*

Tramp you have my sympathy for sinus troubles (and anyone else going through it). Unfortunately every day is a battle for me (I suffer from allergic rhinitis) so before pregnancy I was taking Nasonex (prescribed), antihistamin and then at night I was taking Sudafed spray. Now I just take the Nasonex which helps a little but isn't the same as Sudafed but makes it slightly more bearable. Big hug. I miss Sudafed!

Vivee hope you manage to get some good legal advice so at you can fight your corner (and win!).

Flowery I'm sure I've got loads to say to you in response to things you've said to me but unfortunately that was many posts ago now! I think from memory though you were saying that you are the same as us at the moment and not really doing much baby planning and things?! I Remember thinking that we sounded similar (hope it was you!)

Off to watch the rest of the F1, but now that Button is out, I'm not that interested!

zoeymlucas · 14/10/2012 08:44

Emus I always get excited about shopping arriving and go through the bags like a kid- DH ont understand it as I ordered it, lol!!
Got to go to DH nephews birthday today and am acting poorly to try and get out of it, am tired and sore and sitting with his family all day sounds like being put in a torture chamber let alone with some of his sisters 'friends' - just need to up my game with the ill which I haVe been mentioning sinc yesterday sneaky I know
tramp the doctor also gave me asal drops that really help with sinus's but it does taste rank but does help- I can get the name if you like? It was from GP since being pregnant and even though my consultant tends to allow a lot more stuff and be ok with things my GP is still the you can't take anything when pregnant type!

Enjoy your morning peeps I am off to moan and wings how poorly I am to get out of this afternoon Wink

theTramp · 14/10/2012 09:31

Morning everyone.

Thanks for advice and thoughts on sinus. Honestly it's not something that's normally an issue, perhaps why it's proving so troublesome now. I've woken up feeling fine so my eucalyptus and lots of water did trick but something faster would've been helpful yesterday. If it happens again I'll def go have chat with GP. Not sure I'm capable of Obe of those sinus flushing things - big girls blouse that I am - but I could def go for some acupuncture to drain things out.

Manda - oh that's pants of your other half. Trinket it is. I recommend the big antique Market, chock full of trinkets. Furniture as well as jewelrey counts right?! :)

Emu - sounds like you're settling in ok and a good night was had.

I'm sorry if I'm missing people am on phone and cat is trying to eat it which I think means tea please. Have lovely days.

Just a query for any of you in the know... Impetigo- can it only be spread through contact? On of the girls on my course has it (diagnosed on friday) but is not taking time out of Uni. She has been taking antibiotics for two days so my understanding is that it should no longer be contagious but obviously don't want to take any risks!

GummiberryJuice · 14/10/2012 11:44

Just checking in so I don't lose you all

three my arm was fine yesterday but woke up in the middle of night, thought someone had punched me took me a min to remember flu jab, still sore now

tramp glad headache has gone

zoey how sneaky, love it, and you know if your 'sick' you'll have to pit feet up, watch a wee film and dh will have to bring dinner home with him

Right going to find a film and do some ironing before lunch

GummiberryJuice · 14/10/2012 11:48

Jojo air on side of caution, stay clear of her and good hand washing, esp with your scar healing, just the type of place impetigo would thrive, Impetigo is v.v contagious

TheAngelshavetheOod · 14/10/2012 11:49

jojo it's one of those things that schools make you stay off for so I assume so. I'd be avoiding her if it was me !

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 14/10/2012 12:21

Jojo DD had to be off nursery when she had it, even though it was a v mild case, as it is 'highly contagious', so would defo give her a very wide berth.

Day three of the pox here. Still up in Cumbria at ILs, hopefully setting off home soon. DD absolutely covered in spots poor thing and consequently as miserable as sin. Sad

Will catch up when I am back home tonight.

backwardpossom · 14/10/2012 12:25

She shouldn't be going into uni if she has it. It's VERY contagious and therefore very selfish of her to be going in and putting others at risk of getting it...
