the lack of sleep is natures way of breaking us into the new regime.........
up since 4....

Tugstonia · 09/11/2012 12:24

Thanks spring, if I still have itchy nips next week when I see mw i'll ask about thrush. I didn't know you could get nipple thrush, how delightful! I have the day off but have managed to fill it with things, will try to get home mid arvo for a nap though. Just had some acupuncture and now feeling v spaced out! Attempted to go shopping on Oxford St but have given up and am having a hot chocolate while I wait for DP. How rubbish about having spd and anaemia, hopefully the iron supplements will kick in soon and you will at least feel less exhausted.

theboutiquemummy · 09/11/2012 12:35

tugs itchy nips sounds awful my nipples got really dry I had to crack open the
Lansinoh which is just amaze balls x

Anyone else's bump changing shape through the day mine seems to Blush

In other news carseat arrived today from Kiddicare who are having a massive sale
Anyone else having the Jane Trider ?

MamaMary · 09/11/2012 14:05

Hello all, finally found the thread again just as it's nearing its conclusion!

Been feeling really crap, like so many others. I've been sick for two weeks - started with a cold, then an asthma attack, then an ear infection, now a chest infection. On second course of antibiotics from today :(

Really hate getting this run down when pregnant, it's so much scarier. Plus we're still trying to sell our house and today, my day 'off' work, I had to go to the doctors in the morning (again) and then tidy the house and keep DD occupied the rest of the day until 2pm when a viewer is expected (due any moment in fact). Don't need this extra stress.

To be fair, DH has done his utmost to help: made meals, taken time off work, tidied; but sometimes his idea of cleaning the bathroom ahead of a viewing is just not the same as mine!

bealos · 09/11/2012 14:16

Lack of sleep.... Just you wait....

bealos · 09/11/2012 14:16

Not entirely helpful I understand :)

BuntyCollocks · 09/11/2012 15:02

Can finally tell I'm 8 months pregnant - at the Trafford center and having to stop for a seat whilst my friend shops. Epic fail.

SpringFlowers · 09/11/2012 15:12

I typed a lovely message earlier and then managed to lose it, how annoying! I'm now typing in word to make sure I actually am able to post!

Salt I?m glad that your constipation has improved, it is an awful thing and you must be really relieved.

Sorry that everyone seems to be having sleep problems. Why is it that I am wide awake at 2 am yet dead to the world when I need to get up? This morning was a real struggle.

Tugs I had nipple thrush when feeding dd3 and it was a nightmare to get rid of. There are really limited drugs that can be used with breastfeeding and baby had it in her mouth so we just kept transferring it to one and other. It was all very sore and prolonged, so definitely worth getting rid of in pregnancy if you have it. Thank you for the sympathy, I have just slept all morning and done nothing at all. Hopefully the iron will help really soon and my bloods will be back Monday to rule out pre-eclampsia and other worse things.

Boutique My bump doesn?t change shape so much as have bits of bony baby poking out. I think I might have identified elbows (although don?t really have any clue) sticking out last night.

Sorry you?ve been so unwell Mama, lousy. Hopefully the antibiotics will work quickly. I have found being unwell more scary too, I don?t want to go out on my own in case I faint.

Bunty Are you eight months already? I?m still only nearly seven and am falling apart! Having to sit is expected I think!

Birdies · 09/11/2012 15:19

bealos naughty! It's true though, it gets worse, but I think when you actually have baby the adrenalin keeps you going for those first few weeks.

bunty I knew you'd have washed stuff already, you're so organised. Please can you do my bag too?!

I had midwife apmt today and been referred to consultant care. Should have been from the start really (without going into details, DD has a rare condition so consultant care would be to ensure DD2 doesn't have same thing). Anyways, I'm not too worried really as unlikely to happen twice, and it means I get another scan next Friday, yay!

Sorry to the people who are poorly, tired etc. Hope you all feel better soon.

Oh and who recommended a Morrck wrap thingy? Was it someone here? Is it the hoody or something else which is good?

djvesi · 09/11/2012 15:36

have been left at home Thursday afternoon until Monday night whilst DH and DS abroad for important family celebration, we thought it safest that I don't travel, also because the family is huge and intense, very tiring. Even though I have a lot of work to do (mostly working from home at the moment), I have just slept for 4 hours and still feeling wiped out. Can't turn over and sleeping positions becoming very limited for me too.

we're in the home straight now ladies.

allchik · 09/11/2012 15:49

This is prob a dumb question but why do u have to wash baby clothes if they're new?x

Birdies · 09/11/2012 15:59

Allchik they're often treated with stuff that might irritate baby's skin. So people usually wash them first (with non-biological detergent - same for all baby clothes) and then less likely to cause a rash etc. That said, on occasions I didn't have time to wash everything, but that tended to be layers rather than things in direct contact with skin. You'll enjoy it though - its the one time washing is fun and maybe the only time you'll decide to iron and hang everything up properly (no time after that!).

BuntyCollocks · 09/11/2012 18:06

spring I am! 33 weeks today. I work off the premise that we're pregnant for 10 months. Always fun at 36 weeks when someone asks to tell them you're 9 months pregnant and watch the reactions!

birdies you know me too well! Wink drop it round, I've got the machine on anyway and I have cake

I've got a morrck wrap this time, they are the ones with the hoodies. Think I am going to love it - far more practical than a snowsuit, and just gorgeous. Debating whether its worth getting one for DS. I think probably no ... But they're so luffly.

BuntyCollocks · 09/11/2012 18:08

Oh, and enjoy your extra scan, birdies!

PricklyPickle · 09/11/2012 18:29

Nipple thrush?! Dear god.

Complicated24 · 09/11/2012 18:38

boutiquemummy we've ordered the Jane Trider and I love it. We went for the red one. It's still at baby shop as am superstitious about having it in house yet but can't wait to push it again. DH got very excited about the suspension!

So sorry to hear a few of you are unwell and not sleeping. Will be good when we are all on maternity leave and can nap during day. How do you mothers survive. Am in awe of you. Saw MW today and really relieved everything was ok. I've got bad back, nosebleeds, restless legs syndrome and swollen ankles but MW was happy as said all normal!!!

Great news about extra scan Birdies. I too am under Consultant care and its fine as do get extra appts.

Have a lovely Friday eve everyone? DH is hungover from a work do last night so we're vegging on sofa with a £10 meal for two as cant be bothered to cook.

AppleCrumples · 09/11/2012 19:22

Evening all

mamamary sorry you've had such a hard time of it. Hope your feeling better soon.

birdies I agree you live on adrenaline in the first few weeks which is probably easier than being tired and uncomfortable and unable to sleep.

bunty I was thinking about the months thing today. I feel like I've been 6 months for ages but with only just over 10 weeks to go it must be more like 7 months. Possibly I have too much time on my hands during the day to think about this stuff...

complicated mothers survive because they have to! Also I go to bed as soon as my 9 year old has been tucked in :)

Brugmansia · 09/11/2012 19:48

I have some nee baby clothes that are definitely going to need a wash first. I picked up a few completely frivolous but very cute things in baby gap today as I had 30% off. I'd laid them out in the sitting room for DP to see when he gets back. Just went in and found out neighbours naughty cat curled up on them. She must have snuck in when I was out in the garden briefly picking herbs.

theboutiquemummy · 09/11/2012 20:35

complicated24 we love it because it's sturdy and there is proper metal on it feels very robust x

allchik · 09/11/2012 22:14

Thanks birdies will give them all a wash :) Im a bit sad n enjoy doing laundry so that will be fun lol!

Might start getting a bag packed soon too...32 wks tomorrow!!Bloody hell, this is really happening!! X

happyhow · 09/11/2012 23:17

Hadn't heard about a nipple thrush... Hopefully something I won't get!!

Sorry for all those not sleeping well. My dream genii and pillow fortress combination are making it not too bad for me but until I'd worked that out, I was pretty sore. Generally only wake up if I need a pee now!

Had the day from hell yesterday. I was pressured all day to see if my mum would do my maternity cover for me (she's also a biology teacher but retired now). After breaking down in the technician's room I wrote an email to my head saying that my mum had refused to do it and gave a few reasons (I didn't speak to her but made it look like I had...). I know they are now getting desperate for someone but I can't believe they actually asked me if she would do it! She was going to have to live me for 6 months, cover my classes (meaning I'd have to support her the whole time) and what if she didn't get on with people? It would reflect on me and I wouldn't actually get to enjoy my maternity leave as I'd always be thinking of work. They may have gotten a lead today though so hopefully it pans out....

Just been at a ridiculously hard quiz. There was bugger all general knowledge etc. we didn't come last but it wasn't great!

Got my bro's wedding tomorrow so looking forward to that...

PixelCarrier · 10/11/2012 03:53

Just joined the awake-at-3am club again. Enjoyed catching up on all the posts, after a busy week. Glad to hear why washing the baby clothes is important, but dreading nipple thrush!

Brugmansia · 10/11/2012 04:07

Hello, I'm awake too.

Complicated24 · 10/11/2012 06:21
