Sympathies to the early wakers. I managed 6.20am this morning and am v pleased!

I have however woken up to very slight brown spotting, not as much as last time but still, not particularly impressed. Last night I had some sharp (but not agonising) pains low down as well. Am worried in case it's more tiny abruptions in the placenta, but there's not much anyone can do about that. Can feel bubs move & have heard heartbeat on Doppler. Last time doc said i should go back to hospital if have more bleeding but it's such a small amount... What should I do?? MAU isn't open at the weekend so it would mean going to the labour ward again. Maybe I should just keep an eye on it & if there's more then go in? Argh!!

I managed to sleep until 7 this morning Smile (after my dreadful night's sleep the night before)... guess it's going to be up and down for a loooooong time now!
Happyhow I can't believe the situation your school have put you in - I have never heard anything like it! They still haven't found my replacement though there's still 6 weeks til I leave so I'm not panicking too much yet... Why are schools so useless when it comes to maternity cover though?! Actually I'm sure this isn't exclusive to schools! Hope you have a lovely relaxing time at the wedding.
Complicated Hope you enjoy the class. We had our first one on Tuesday and got a lot out of it - very relaxed, informative and the teacher and other couples were really nice Smile

Tugs I think you should go in - it won't do you any good sitting at home and worrying. In my experience the hospital staff are happy just to reassure you. But if you're still not sure, maybe see what happens in the next hour or so and if you're still worried, go in then. Hope you're ok.

Thanks Woody. I think I will keep an eye on it this morning and go in if I get any more. But agree that I don't want to sit here worrying about it. I would really like to fast forward to January now and have this baby!!

I've got another 6 weeks til mat leave. Being a naive first timer and working right up til the Xmas hols (37+3). My school like to do some sort of handover with maternity covers so that my teaching would be reduced and the new person gets settled in. My mum is only just beginning to feel settled in her new life without my dad (he died 2.5yrs ago) and she lives 3.5hrs away so it was ridiculously unfair of them on her, let alone all the reasons why it's unfair on me!! Stupid bloody management! I've now decided that as long as my classes are where they need to be or further ahead if possible, I've done all I can. They're just panicking because we're a fee paying school and the parents will quite rightly go mental if there is nobody to teach their kid... I told my head when I was 5 weeks as there were too others pregnant in the dept so that she had the maximum time possible to sort something and ease the pressure but she's sat on her fat arse and ignored everything we've done to try and help her so screw her!!!!!! Angry Rant over.

Tugs maybe keep a little eye on it but if you're worried just go in. They'd rather see you and be cautious than you sitting at home getting worked up and not knowing what's going on. That's not good for mini-tugs either...

I'm away to see if hubby's suit needs pressed and get packed for going to the wedding! (Oh, and have breakfast)

Thanks Happy. Am not as freaked out as I was last time this happened, just fed up! But will def go in if I find myself stressing about it. Also I can't believe your stupid work wanted you to ask your mum to do your maternity cover - that's so inappropriate. Good for you to say no. They've had enough notice that you would be leaving in December, it's their problem. My work also tried to get me to find my own replacement but I just said I didn't think it was usual practice to expect people to recruit their own replacements... They haven't even advertised for it yet and I leave in 4.5 weeks - oh well! Enjoy the wedding :)

hi Ladies,
I've been reading this with interest re finding the replacements - i've been told i basically have to find my own and the early starts/late evenings for interviews is really taking it out of me. Ultimately, i've been doing first round interviews and then for the second stage, my board director - who is awful and the client services director has to see the candidate

So ultimately, its kinda out of my hands anyway and also, i'm not going to be there for the next 9 months so quite frankly, what do i care who they ultimately choose?

I'm also now being forced to work on a pitch - am sure it's because it's a baby product so the rationale is to get the pregnant woman to work on it but i am seriously not up for doing the usual late nights pre pitch that always seem to inevitably happen. 5 weeks to go and it's a real struggle.

Tugs, look after yourself and don't sit at home worrying xx

Hi everyone, I didn't get a chance to post yesterday but I had my midwife appointment and my blood pressure was fine. She thinks it was probably a bit high from rushing to the appointment last time. They want me to go back in a couple of weeks to have it checked again though. It has never really been that low - it was towards the high end of normal at booking so I guess high BP is just something that I am prone to.

The latest blood test results have come through, I 'passed' the diabetes test (hooray, more cake for me!), but I have to go on iron tablets as I have become anaemic. I'm a bit worried re. constipation, although I checked and the multi-vitamin I am taking also contains iron and that hasn't caused me any problems. Saying that, it clearly hasn't done my iron levels any good either Hmm

DP has a vomiting bug today and is asleep in bed. Really hope I don't catch it off him.

I only have one pair of boots I wear at the moment, they are ankle high but loose around the ankle, so they slip on and off easily.

Tugs How are you now? I agree that it is probably fine, but the worst thing to do would be to sit there worrying, so if you are then go in.

Emily hope your scan went well.

Happy I can't believe the cheek of your work! I hope you enjoy the wedding.

Complicated not sure what I will wear for labour. Hoping for a water-birth in which case...nothing, I guess? If not then I will find one of DP's mankiest old tshirts that he still insists on wearing, and 'accidentally' ruin it Grin

I've not done any packing, or clothes washing...

Great news that your mw appointment was all good mrsbugs, must be a relief. I am taking Spatone iron supplements and they don't seem too constipating.

No more spotting which is good & keeping an eye on it. Doing lots of sitting on my backside today. Did just have a bit of an emotional meltdown though, tears and snot galore. Mostly because DP is meant to be going on a boys' weekend in a couple of weeks and I started panicking about something happening baby-wise while he was away and having to go to hospital on my own and got a bit emotional Blush. Anyway DP has said he won't go, and though I do feel bad i am also v pleased.

Wow, can't believe these replacement stories, especially yours happy! That is totally out of order. No way should your mum have to do it.

For both of my jobs, I was asked if I knew anyone to replace me, i.e. help with the process, but I wasn't expected to actually do it myself. Employers are getting so demanding aren't they.

hugs to those not feeling great today. i slept for over 9 hours last night (hope that does not mean will not sleep tonight) and had a poo when i woke up (sorry if tmi) - i therefore feel like a new woman today!! shopped like a demon at the nct sale, dh was useless but at least he carried the bags and handed over money.

Good on you Tugs, last thing you need is DP to be away! You've totally done the right thing as far as I'm concerned. Mine just went abroad for the weekend for his parents 50th wedding anniversary (very big event and warranting attendance), and I had to convince him to go, he was worried about leaving me here on my own, but its been good to get some rest without DS's schedule for a few days. It would have been too intense for me, enormous Italian family. I'm only 30 weeks, and from here on in, no more trips away for either of us.

so I had the flu jab today -went to the walk in appts at my GP surgery and was kept waiting TWO HOURS to be seen -not happy and was at the point of just saying Sod it and leaving but after 90 mins thought i may as well just stay.

Just praying as generally not a sick person that i don't get any kind of weird side effects over the next few days - my arm is now starting to ache so think i'm going to slink off to bed and hopefully feel better tomorrow am.

Interestingly when i asked about the w.c. vaccine, the nurse who gave me the flu jab seemed to think that they didn't have any of it in stock (!)

If anything, that would have been the one i would have prioritised... sadly am back at the docs next Weds for my 31 week antenatal appt so intend to fully investigate then!

Have many of you suffered any ill effects from the flu/w.c. jab at all??

Report
bealos · 10/11/2012 20:46

hey godz hope you don't get affected by the jab. My business partner (also pregnant) had it and had terrrible flu / cough for 2/3 days. She had it the same time as the wc jab as well.

PricklyPickle · 10/11/2012 21:08

godz I just had an achy arm after my flu and wc jabs, felt fine other than that.

We went to an NCT sale today too, Salt my DP was exactly like yours, he wandered around looking scared, so I just gave him things to carry.

Birdies · 10/11/2012 21:49

godz I've had the flu jab three times now and all fine. In fact everyone I know who's had it was fine, only a few unlucky people feel poorly afterwards (but it's still worth it). Can't believe they kept you waiting 2 hours, that's appalling. Was also fine after wc jab except for a sore arm.

I've had this weird twinge thing in the bottom of my bump all day - it's like a nerve getting pressed or something and just comes and goes every few seconds. He anyone else had anything like that???

My tummy is also literally heaving about most of the day and I can feel a little bottom and feet! Am 33 weeks too tomorrow so I guess movements would ramp up around now.

Someone please tell me to get on and pack my bag. The longer I've left it the more it seems like a chore and the less i want to do it, but I'm sure with DD I'd already got it all packed by now.

I've been having 'flu jabs for 10 years (pre-existing medical condition) and all I've ever had afterwards is a sore arm!
Do remember though, that the jab isn't 100% effective, so continue to steer clear of coughing/snooty types on public transport.

That hasn't happened since she was a newborn. I know I know, shopping takes energy, but it's a little treat :). Packing bag will be tomorrow, honest...
