Morning all Smile

Sorry to hear your having a tough time kk, Hope you and your dd get over your ilnesses really soon.

Welcome mandaz and congratulations, I also hope you get things sorted with your dh.

Nothing to report here, still feeling movements. can't wait for mondays midwife apt when I can hear the los' heartbeat

How is everybody today?

Normsnockers · 31/03/2006 11:33

Caught out by the sun and squinting to see whilst driving this morning I seem to have given myself a headache. Where have I put my sunglasses ?

Am peeved at a woman that I see daily who commented this morning "you're going to be really huge this time, look at the size of your tummy already !"

I'm probably being oversensitive because the woman is a tiny size 10 despite having had 2 kids of her own 40 years ago but my mum says that everything is already stretched from last time so it's just bulging through earlier this time and doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to be a whale by the end of 40 weeks.

Perhaps I need to cut back on my snacking although it helps to keep the sickness at bay.

compo · 31/03/2006 12:18

I know what you mean Normsknockers - I'm already the weight I was when I gave birth to ds Shock but moslty that is because I didn't lose all my baby weight last time!!
I've been getting really bad headaches - thank goodness we can take paracetmol. I'm drinking loads of water today as I think it might be because I don't drink enough

Hi everyone,

I've been reading threads on mumsnet now for ages and have finally got round to joining :)

Already have lovely DS (17 months) and expecting end sept. Starting to get excited now - especially after reading some of you starting to feel kicks - hope I do too soon!

Really wanted to join and let you know something I found in 1st pg that could save you much discomfort. I had PUPP (or PEP depends where you from) - is basically severe rash, quiter rare so don't worry, but I'm allergic to antihistamines. Anyway, I found this cream called EURAX, way better than calomine lotion and no nasty white stuff - it really works and calmed skin down enough to sleep. you can get it from most chemists. Hope that helps.

Good luck to you all with bumps!

Normsnockers · 31/03/2006 13:25

Ooh, people still joining the thread, I wasn't paying attention.

Hello and welcome to Mandaz and liquidclocks.

Coriander73 · 31/03/2006 16:02

Since feeling what I thought where a few bubbles...haven't felt anything since...perhaps it's still early? (16 wks today) Just would love to feel something, anything!!!!

Welcome to everyone! :)

puppy · 31/03/2006 16:12

coriander is this your first? early movements can feel like bubbles/flutters and happens around 18 to 22 weks of pregnancy but can be earlier for mums to be that have been pregnant before as they recognise the felings iykwim

puppy · 31/03/2006 16:13

oops forgot to welcome you liquidclocks, congratulations Smile

Coriander73 · 31/03/2006 16:57

Hi Puppy,

No it's my second & everyone says (rightly or wrongly!) that second time around you feel the movements earlier? With DD it was 18-19 weeks...so not far off I suppose!

liquidclocks · 31/03/2006 17:14

Thanks for the welcomes!

Just wanted to add that I've seen a double pushchair - the Jane twin that's a three wheeler but baby/toddler are in line and neither close to the ground - has anyone tried it out? looks like it might be a compromise for those of us that like the look of phil % teds but think baby is too low. Trouble is there are no stockists in my area so I can't try it out.

Marls001 · 31/03/2006 17:38

Welcome Liquidclocks & Manda!

KK, thinking abt. you & hoping everything is okay.

Am now feeling kicks (finally) ... not enough that DH would be able to feel them by touching the belly - can tell he is anxious for that, though.

Just found out a girlfriend who was pg at the same time as me has had a miscarriage. Not sure whether to call her or not, as she might be sensitive to my (now showing) belly. Was looking forward to going through this with her at the same time, and very concerned and sad for her. Anyone who's been through a miscarriage have advice on whether she'd want to even hear from me right now? I've never had one & don't want to be insensitive.

HellKat · 31/03/2006 17:42

Marls I sorry to hear about your friend, I had a very early m/c so not sure I can give you any advice, I suppose it depends on how sensitive your friend is iykwim.

Angeliz · 31/03/2006 20:04

Hi allSmile
Welcome to Manda and Liquid++

Well whar a tiring week i've had. G.P last Friday with bad rash all over dd1 (1) temp of over 100 all weekend. On WEDNESDAY the rash was still very noticable and she was whingy and scratching and just in pain. Took her to A+E and said the one i was most worried about was Rubella as she's due single jabs soon so wouldn't need it if it was. Doc said it might be rubella but they won't diagnose it!!??? (Cynical part of me has my own opinion why that is) and i need to go back to G.P. Went to G.P on Thursday and he was BLOODY BRILLIANT! Sent a fax to Public Health who are sending out a swab kit for saliva (thank God, saves a blood test) for Rubella. So the odds are it's probably not, but at least if it is, she'll be one less jab and i'll know! DD1 has been off School for 3 days too with headache and sickiness and DP had cold and tummy trouble.

As for movements, i'm feeling Alien like little slithers across my tummy. I felt dd2 MUCH earlier than this so i guess they are all different.

KK hope you're feeling better. That's a tough choice with your dd. (the clubs making her poorly)Sad
Hope you're o.k++++

Everyone else too and thanks for all kind words for ddSmile

Angeliz · 31/03/2006 20:04

Happy birthday Hellkat and Compo's ds's Grin

xoz · 01/04/2006 12:40

Happy B/day to your 2 ds's.
Not much to report here, ds has a bad cough, really congested, has been miserable all day and wanted mummy and no one else. It starting to get get cool here too, it was only about 23 degrees today which I know you'll all think is still really warm but the air had a definate winter chill in the breeze, so no doubt this is the first of the winter cold starting up. I hope you're all feeling good. I've finally stopped throwing up every morning, only to be replaced by heartburn.... oh the joy of pregnancy!!!

mandaz · 01/04/2006 12:42

Hi, just wanted to say thanks for all the welcome messages.

I can't wait until next scan. Time seems to be going so slowly inbetween midwife appointments and scans!

Can anyone tell me whether the first movements you feel in a first pg are deep or nearer your skin? I have felt a couple of times a feeling like a muscle twitching when I've put my hands on my belly. It's very close to the surface though so I'm not sure if it's just my imagination.

I keep going into baby shops and seeing loads of things I like but it still feels too early to be buying things. The only things I have bought so far are a mobile and a grobag. September seems so far away. I know you shouldn't wish your time away but I wish I was closer to my due date!
