mandaz, I've found it to be like a twitching muscle when it's near the surface. So that's probably your baby saying hello. Sometimes it can be down deep and IME then it feels like wind Blush Smile

HellKat · 01/04/2006 13:07

Hiya all.
Thanks for you messages! Grin
Compo- Wow same birthday's!!!!! He was actually due on May 13th but got impatient lol.
Busy as anything here, spent the morning blitzing the house and hardly sat down. Not to mention getting drenched coming back from my mums early this morning. Hey ho, looking forward to stuffing my face later Grin.

Have a great day/weekend all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

compo · 01/04/2006 13:56

Hellkat - wouldn't it be wierd if we both had our September babies on the same day!! My due date is 16th September - what's yours? Although maybe you'll be early again Smile

Marls001 · 01/04/2006 17:25

Mandaz ... Best wish it to be the month when he/she's finally sleeping through the night! Grin

Xoz - LOL thinking about how it's going to be winter where you are. That's my favorite season, & ours has officially come to a close (high 27 C yesterday) so Envy.

Everyone says summers here are so hot & humid but they've never lived through Houston's summers (high 36+ daily, 100% humidity)... not dreading being pg here so much as there ... really it wasn't so bad - just went a little stir crazy, staying inside in the A/C. They really know how to A/C.

Mabel - How are your ears doing?

Calvemjoe - Any (much deserved) gifts for you yet from DH?

liquidclocks · 01/04/2006 18:39

Marls - just read that you not sure whether to call your friend or not. I had a miscarriage at 15 wks before DS1 and it's really hard to give universal advice as everyone reacts differently. Personally I had friend who I found out was pg a few weeks after and it made me upset but that didn't take away from how happy I was for her. It's also the worst when you've lost one coz people don't know what to say and then they don't say anything at all and you end up feeling lonely as well as bereaved.

Hope you can work it out but if you'll see her soon anyway it's probably best to be honest but make your pg a side issue and focus on supporting her through this difficult time. Oh, and the worst thing you can say is 'don't worry, you'll have another chance', that made me so mad. good luck.

calvemjoe · 01/04/2006 19:35

Marls, no mothers day pressies yet. He's brought himself the new Harry Potter, An x box game and some gadgets from boysstuff, but no mothers day pressie. Sad ds is trying to drop his afternoon sleep so has been a hyper little boy all week and I've really felt worthless. I can't even cope with one 2 yr old, no wonder dh didn't see me as worthy of a present

Hellkat and compo, hope the birthdays have gone well and both little ones were spoilt rotten Grin

compo · 01/04/2006 19:37

thanks everyone Smile Ds has had a lovely day even though he hasn't seen any of his family as they all live miles away!!

Hi girls!

kk and angeliz - sorry your dds have been poorly

welcome manda and liquidclocks

hellkat and compo - happy 2nd birthday to your boys.

cal, sympathy re lunchtime nap. ds hasn't slept at lunchtime this week either. he's gone to bed and chatted for an hour so I can't really complain, but he's a NIGHTMARE by teatime. And that's my most tired time too.

Need to buy new bras...

calvemjoe · 01/04/2006 20:07

Tassis, ds's swimming teacher said 'goodness me he has horns this week' and I could only agree with her. Blush He just isn't ready to drop his nap, but since when do we know what's best for them?

mabel1973 · 01/04/2006 20:34

Hi Girls

I have returned to the land of the living!
Had a good few days at my mums, but have come home to a half completed bathroom, but I have put on a brave face for DH as he has been coming home from work every night this week and tiling, so as we've at my mums he's hardly seen DS.
Well I got my triple test results - and I am a little concerned this time. Although I've been classed as low risk it says on the results sheet, based on age alone the risk factor is 1 in 590, but combined with my bloods brings it down to 1 in 470. Which I know is still ok, but I am sure with DS it was something like 1 in 1000 as i remember being really pleased. I will call the midwife on monday but i know there's prob nothing she can say and I'll just have to wait for the scan.
DS still has an upset tummy, I am alittle concerned as it has been like this since his MMR, so got to call the HV on monday as well.
As for my ears, well i tried candling on thursday - it did absolutely nothing, oter than scare me as it sounded like my ears were going to go up in smoke at any second!

Welcome to all the new people and hope evryone and their lo's are well.
Will try and read in a bit more detail so i can catch up with everyone properly.
Sorry this is so long Blush

HellKat · 02/04/2006 09:28

Morning all.
Compo- My due date this time is 14th Sept, so not much difference. Would be great to birth on the same day!
How's everyone?

Great to have you back Mabel.

Ds2 got thoroughly spoilt but was a little cutie.

Have a great day all x

liquidclocks · 02/04/2006 18:31

evening everyone, hope the weekend's been good for you all!

Mabel - and exct same problem in 1st pg with ears so have much sympathy. I ended up pleading with many pharmacists for something, anything - I must have seemed desperate! I ended up using sterimar which is like a sea water spray that you put up your nose and it didn't cure me but it did help. you have to spray quite a lot up then tilt head to the side for it to go into your ear canal and then wait for a minute before blowing your nose. Sorry if that conjures up graphic images but at least you see results for your efforts Blush You can also use it on baby when it arrives and has it's inevitable first cold!

Can I also ask if anyone else gets fluttery like, almost bubbly sensations, in their heart now they're pregnant? I like to know if I'm being paranoid about something totally normal before I bother the midwife. :)

calvemjoe · 02/04/2006 18:37

Hey Liquidclocks, I get fluttering feelings in my heart now I'm pg. Guessed they were probably palpatations caused by changes in hormones and a change in the medication I was taking prior to pregnancy. Hope this helps, x

liquidclocks · 02/04/2006 19:04

Hi Cal, thanks - good to know I'm no the only one though obviously not that you have it too. Do you feel any shortness of breath or tight chest too? I've been feeling like I've run a marathon after just doing the stairs, didn't feel like this till into 3rd trimester of my 1st pg. Mind you, didn't have a hyperactive toddler the either!

tassis · 02/04/2006 19:55

welcome back mabel, sorry you're concerned about your results, and your bathroom's not finished and your ears are no better. hope you have a better week.

hope everyone's had a lovely weekend!

calvemjoe · 02/04/2006 20:03

Liquid, my asthma is much worse this time round, but I'm not sure if it's all connected to the beta blockers I was taking before I got pg. I also get weakness in my legs after climbing the stairs etc, and the toddler doesn't help!

Marls001 · 02/04/2006 20:23

Liquidclocks - Definitely feeling shortness of breath here too - have started on elliptical machine once/week at comfortable pace - works out to 135 - 160 bpm (has a built-in heart rate monitor) - I think that's really been helping me feel better in general, just knowing I'm able to do it, as well as the conditioning. Some days the stomach just feels really heavy.

Mabel - sorry that didn't work. Was hoping something would.

Calvemjoe, Sad. Yuck. DS here has just fallen asleep after being in his crib for 45 minutes. That's normal for him these days. I figure it just gives me an extra 45 minutes. Don't know what I'd do if he weren't napping.

And who can cope with a 2-year-old 24/7/7 - especially when pg? DH is out Tuesday night, boss in town, so I'm dreading it ... Usually he gets DS after 6:30 every day, and pretty much takes over on the weekend, as I've had it. DS really is a good boy, not too fussy, listens to directions ... still, he wears me out every day.

Perhaps schedule some kind of excursion for yourself one of these Saturdays; leave DH with DS all day. Take a walk, bring a book (but not your cell), meet gf's for lunch, go window shopping in the afternoon.

Take it as a late mum's day gift, 'cause sounds like you're needing to just arrange a gift for yourself Wink.

If DH can't see value, he must not realize how hard it can be. Having DS for a day might help him understand ... At any rate, I do hope you feel better.

As for my friend who lost her baby, not wanting to offend but still wanting her to know I'm thinking about her - called & left message yesterday just saying how sorry I felt, & nothing about myself; if she wants to talk, I trust she'll call me back. Unless she asks I won't be bringing up my own pg. Thanks all for suggestions!!

calvemjoe · 02/04/2006 20:53

Marls, what time is it over there? Thanks for being so kind. I know I'm overreacting, but everything is so hard these days and I need him to be more available for me because I can't do it on my own anymore. Our roles are very much him the bread winner, me the mother, but right now I need the edges to blur a bit and for him to help me out. I work weekends so monday is normally my best day because I'm fresh from 2 days of missing my ds, but I had last weekend off for ds's birthday and that means dh doesn't have to be a grown up. It's also my fault because I can never switch off from being a mother if I am with my ds so dh just does what he wants, goes out with friends etc. We need to have a grown up talk and sort some things out, I just don't have the energy at the mo Grin

Marls001 · 03/04/2006 04:55

Hi Calvemjoe - I'm in US Central Time so it's always about 6 hours earlier than the time on my post ... otherwise you'd think I'm always posting at 1 am, 3 am, etc. Grin.

My DH & I are in the same roles. He's away 8 to 6:30 every weekday. I'm an artist & work from studio at home when I can. I've an opening scheduled for (yikes) October & this happened with DS also - scheduled an opening so far in advance, never knew it'd be a mere month from delivery! Thankful DH helps like he does b/c during crunch time I really disappear into the studio.

Agree that especially after your talk when you're ready for it your DH will come to understand - especially since he already looks after DS every weekend!

Are you due in late September? Due the 7th & have just regained some energy over the last two weeks.

HellKat · 03/04/2006 09:00

Morning all.
Over the moon here. Had my triple test done on Tuesday and the results came in the post this morning!!!!! How quick is that? Anyhoo they're low risk! Very, very pleased.

How's everyone?

puppy · 03/04/2006 09:40

Morning all hope you all had a good weekend,

Glad your ds's had a good day on saturday.

liquidclocks I am also more out of breath and slightly tight chested.

Congratulations on the riple test results hellkat, I have mine done today at my midwifes appt at 12.00. Can't wait for the heart beat check it is so reassuring.

16 +1 weeks today Smile
Is everybody else finding that the time is flying by with their pregnancies?
Been abit naughty and bought a pack of three bodysuits with matching bibs yesterday I couldn't resist the cute teddy bears on them.
Can't wait till the third trimester when I start to buy things and sort the nursery out, If I have one that is DH is converting the garage into a bedroom for dsd he hasn't even start to clear the junk out yet then her old room will be the nursery [worried emoticon].

Lysettes · 03/04/2006 10:18

Hi everyone! tried to post last night but some technical hitch....

my asthma has been worse a bit now i'm pg, and am getting heart feeling a bit funny - but that's because of the bp i think.

bp now up and down so much I am to be signed off work in a couple of weeks - stroppy boss has finally realised it's down to him and is being much nicer (too late though Smile)

well done on those test results and compo - good one on the M&S cake!

We are waiting for our test results - had the test done 10 days ago so the results should be through any day now - fingers crossed.

puppy - naughty naughty - I can't talk though - have been hitting the shops with a passion for last couple of weeks. Although we have been told that because of the bp, we could be in an emergency situation any time from mid June onwards, so that's my justification for buying now!

Hope everyone has a great week, and stays dry as much as possible

Bella23 · 03/04/2006 10:23

Morning ladies, am back from my week up north!
How is everyone? I shall have to read and catch up.
Well got truly spoilt by family but to be honest am glad to be home and not being questioned almost hourly "how are you feeling?" - erm well the same as an hour ago!!

I definatlely feel in this last week that my stomach has suddenly got bigger and harder. Don't think I am feeling any movements yet but as a first timer not really sure what they would feel like anyway!.

Puppy - just saw you couldn't help yourself buying a couple of things. I swear if I hadn't put my foot down and said no my Mum would have bought everything, she's almost out of breath with excitement!!
Arh - have to admit though that those bodysuit things are just soooo cute !!

puppy · 03/04/2006 10:34

Welcome back bella Smile

Lysettes, Serves your boss right for not been so reasonable. You will be able to relax more and your bp will prob come down. Fingers crossed.

My excuse for buying was that the body suits was a bargain, they were 2.99 and the bibs 99p and they are good quality they don't look cheap atall. Home bargains if anybody is interested they are an ivory colour. cute.

mabel1973 · 03/04/2006 10:36

morning all

hope everyones feeling ok?
HK - congrats on your results, just out of curiosity did they tell you the ratio, or just that you were low risk?
Lysettes - glad to hear your boss is trying to be a bit nicer - shame he couldn't have been like that from the beginning!
I am holding off buying stuff just yet - I would like to find out the sex at the next scan, so if we are having a pink one this time I can go and get lots of pretty things or if it's a blue one I'll save my money (and spend it on myself - ha!).
Spent the morning cleaning the house (god knows why as plumber is back again tommmow to finish off). He went in DS's room just to bleed a radiator and left dirty footprints all over his new carpet (grrrrr!).
Anyway - it is a beautiful sunny day here (so far) - so we may brave the witches of playgroup this afternoon!!
