HI all

feel a bit better today - although my tummy is still a bit tender.
I am starting to feel a bit uncomfortable now and finding bending forwards is starting to get difficult (although that could be just my jeans digging in!)
Good luck with the scan compo - let us know later - it surely can't be another boy!
My hair has got thicker - I stupidly decided to have a fringe cut in about 2 months ago, it will not do what it is supposed to do and I am growing it out already - thank god for GHD's. Must remember not to have drastic hair cuts when preggers!

compo · 08/05/2006 11:08

Morning all Smile Scan went brilliantly except for one of my kidneys is very low down Shock and they might need to rescan me at a later date if it becomes a problem. She was surprised I didn't realise one of my organs is in the wrong place - like how am I meant to know!!!!
Anyways..... it's girl Smile Smile

A girl...am so happy for you Compo...:o (we want a girl too but hey to late now & want know until the birth!!)....

homemama · 08/05/2006 12:48

Hi everyone.
Confratulations on your little girl,Compo! Smile

Our scan is at 3oclock so I'll let you all know afterwards.

Took DS for his single measles vax this morning. I didn't sleep at all last night worrying about it although he seems ok at the moment. We decided to go for singles because he has gut problems and we just didn't want to aggrevate them. The absolute worst thing about parenthood is the worry. Sad

puppy · 08/05/2006 12:53

Glad your ds is ok after his vacination, I know what you mean about the worry when y ds had to have his mmr it was when it was in the news aot, I was that worried and upset aout it my mum took him for me He is a healthy 4year old.

Good luck for this aft again Homemama

puppy · 08/05/2006 12:55

lol my grammer and punctuation was bad in that post lol. I'll blame the keyboard.

homemama · 08/05/2006 13:04

Thanks Puppy.
We're not at all anti-vaccination and we even paid privately for DS to have the prevenar vax which thankfully the government has now decided to offer on the NHS to all newborns. I honestly believe that the MMR is safe for about 98% of children. I don't know enough about the autism link to make a judgement on that one but what I do know is that combined vaccines can upset the gut in children who already have pre existing problems. This was comfirmed by the immunologist who said, in DS's case, if we could afford them then they may be the best option.

Sorry to rant slightly, it's just that when you say you've gone for singles, people just assume you're obsessed with scare stories.

puppy · 08/05/2006 13:14

Sorry if I came across as assuming you were scared of mmr (I wasn't) , after you said "I didn't sleep at all last night worrying about it although he seems ok at the moment" I were just telling you my story of DS and recalling the worry I had at the time.

homemama · 08/05/2006 13:26

Sorry Puppy, you didn't come across like that at all. I'm just a little sensitive and very tired. Looking forward to seeing my baby later though. Smile

puppy · 08/05/2006 13:35

I'm glad I didn't come across like that lol. I know what you mean about sensitive and tired I have been quite snappy and moody at times.

Enjoy seeing your LO, its not too long now Smile. Going to hang out the washing now, perfect day for drying it. I am proud to say that after this little load of washing is dried that all my house work is done I even washed all the paint work down during the weekend.

mandaz · 08/05/2006 14:15

Hi all
It's quite nice here today but very windy.
Felt a big boot this morning from LO which took me a bit by surprise! I was thinking about how fast this year has gone already and realised that there's only 3 1/2 months to go before due date! I'm getting really excited now Grin

Compo - congrats on your little girl, do you have some names you're choosing from? Sorry if you've already said, I just love hearing which names people like
Homemamma - good luck for you scan
Bella - it's funny you should mention gardening, I've suddenly become mildly obsessed with growing vegetables! I've never much been into gardening before but I bought some seed potatoes and carrot seeds and watching them start to grow has got me hooked! I've now also got mushrooms, courgettes, spinach and lettuce on the go!

Bella23 · 08/05/2006 14:51

Mandaz - wow sounds like you'll have your own little organic veggie patch soon!
Have to say that my gardening at the moment involves mostly watering a few pots and giving instructions to DH about when the grass needs cutting and what needs planting where!
We are very novice gardeners and spent most of yesterday trying to figure out what was a weed and what wasn't!Grin

mabel1973 · 08/05/2006 15:36

hi all

just walked the mile back from playgroup - was such hard work!!! I don't know if I'll be able to keep this up for the next few motnhs!
Mandaz - a fellow veggie grower! I used to have a large veggie patch in our old house, but since moving here last year we've yet to set aside a decent space, so just got some lettuce and runner beans so far this year! I find it very rewarding!
Homemama - any news yet?
I can totally relate to the vaccination thing - I did consider singles, but as DS was healthy in every way I went for the mmr in the end and it's the hardest thing I'd ever done. But he's absolutely fine.

Woodelf · 08/05/2006 16:24

Congrats on your LO being a girl - so many boys are expected that the balance has to be redressed at some point!

Kicks now so noticable that DH wants to sign him up for the England Rugby world cup 2027! Bets he'll be a good kicker...Shock. Can't imagine what its going to be like for the next few months hee hee...

Marls001 · 09/05/2006 00:24

Compo, congrats on the girl!! Love girl names, should be fun for you to choose! LOL at the kidney, as if you should know.

Manda, have been thinking abt. you & hope all's going well with not-so-D H and everything. At least we have thick hair. Grin

Please don't worry Bella, chances are you'll have good memories of your birth experience, no matter what! If only for what it brings you! Smile

Feeling very tired these days too. But went for a walk Friday and we'd had a good rain and everything was gorgeous. I mean suck-in-your-breath-and breathe-out-silently-mouthing-"wow"-gorgeous. The closest thing I have to compare is Napa Valley, and it was even better than that, not much civilization here to mar the nature. Made me fiercely wish we belonged to this place instead of having to leave it in a year, but DH's job is the pitts stresswise; must go back to H-Town or possibly somewhere else; can't stay. Left with one child, will be returning with two.

Getting a bit nervous abt the newborn stage!

HellKat · 09/05/2006 07:24

Morning all.
Compo- Congrats hun!!!!!
Homemama- Hope your scan went well too.
Puppy- Ohhhh the "Kevin" expression, I know that so well Smile I've called him that on many occasion lol.
Mabel- Glad you're feeling better. I know what you mean about hard work. My stairs are now starting to feel like Everest Wink

Hope everyone else is well on yet another grey day. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

compo · 09/05/2006 08:15

thanks everyone. Definitely know what you mean about getting nervous about the newborn stage marls - can still remember the cracked bleeding nipples (ouch) and the sleepless night!!

OP posts:
HellKat · 09/05/2006 08:18

I got really lucky Compo, never got them. I swear by expressing a little milk after every feed and rubbing it straight onto your nips. Sounds odd but works wonders.

Bella23 · 09/05/2006 09:56

Morning everyone

All this talk about worry about the newborn and cracked nips..........I think as a newbie I shall remain blissfully ignorant about all of this!Grin

Marls - where are you? Sounds very breath taking.

Well not a lot else to report today, no rain so far so less frizzy hair than yesterday which is a bonusGrin

Hope you all have fab days

homemama · 09/05/2006 10:04

Scan didn't go as well as hoped. Sad
They found something that could be serious or could be minor.
We were given all these leaflets including the dreaded 'what next' one.
Anyway, going back for another scan in 6wks.
Not really up to talking about it further at the moment. Hope everyone else is ok. Sad

Bella23 · 09/05/2006 10:06

Homemama - oh no, sorry to hear all didn't go well. I pray that it turns out to be minorSad
{{{{{HUGS}}}}.....you and your DH must be going through hell at the moment.
