Cori, sorry to hear you're in so much pain Sad

Isn't it a beautiful day, my washing's out too and I've got another laod on!

Have been to the doc's with my back and (shock, horror) it's because I'm pregnant (I really hadn't thought of that being a contributing factor [sarcastic emoticon]). But he has prescribed me cocodomol for the pain and sent off a sample just incase there's an underlying factor as the pain is over my kidneys. Cori, I've been in tears with the pain too.

1Baby1Bump, I'm not being rescaned so i'm not going to be seeing my lo again till september, little bit Envy of people who still have scans, and Bella, I know it's horrible to have your scan later than everyone else, but mine seems so long ago now....

Hope you all have a good day x

HellKat · 04/05/2006 10:16

Bella- lol at 7.30 I finished off my M&M's so don't worry Wink

Angeliz · 04/05/2006 10:18

Hi all, just flicked the thread, HellKat, guess yours is stubbornWink, never mind and how lovely to have a supriseSmile

Bella, have fun with your doppler.

Congratualtions on everyone else finding out the sexSmile

I am leaning very heavily towards a HomeBirth. I am perfect candidate really, 2 straightforward Births with gas and air and i'm only 5 minutes away from the hospital.
Am seeing the Midwife this afternoon for my first check really since booking in. I just rang to confirm the time as she has changed it and she said very very miserably and monotone, 'oh it doesn't really matter'. It was on the tip of my toungue to let rip and say, 'well actually i have a 5 year old to collect, a 1 year old to look after and haven't seen you since i was 8 weeks pregnant and have some things todiscuss so it may not matter to you but it matters to me.' Angry
Of course i didn't but hope she's cheered her face up for this afternoon if i see her. I want a positive person to assist me in my lovely views of a Homebirth.

Hope you're all well++++++

P.S, i'm living in the same jeans too! Have ordered a lovely pair from Pumpkin Patch. Will let you all know what they're like. Have never shopped from there before!

Angeliz · 04/05/2006 10:26

BTW, baby had very strong hiccups this morning. Very strange feeling!

Normsnockers · 04/05/2006 10:29

Calvemjoe,

Last time I was pregnant I started to get back problems as I have a muscle in there which strains once or twice a year anyway.

I was able to self-refer (after talking to the community midwife about it) to the obstetric physio at my local hospital who gave me good advice and some safe exercises to do to help alleviate the problem over the course of the pregnancy.

Do they offer this support at all in yoour area as the right exercise can sometimes help, although painkillers are also a godsend at times.

Have not taken anti-sickness drugs for 24 hours now and Sad retched to the point of throwing up again this morning. I've just had some chocolate to settle my stomach Grin but am going to try and avoid going back on the drugs.

Had 20 week scan and all is fine except I'm officially fat ! Well the sonographer was having difficulty seeing some bits and I had to roll onto my side to help things a bit towards the end. Reading my notes later I see that she wrote "LIMITED DETAIL DUE TO MATERNAL BODY HABITUS". I'm pretty sure that refers to my fat "buddah belly" ! Blush

mabel1973 · 04/05/2006 11:31

Norms - lol at your fat buddha belly - isn't that what your supposed to have when you're preggers!!?! :o
Just hung my nappies out and taken DS to the park - wow it is fantastic. We are going camping next w/e I hope it stays like this!
Cori - I had sciatica last time and was referred to a physio and given cocodomol for the pain, so make sure you get seen. Apart from the 1st few weeks when my ligaments were stretching I haven't had it yet this time (touch wood)!
Hk and 1b1b - I am a walker like you (only 1 car and DH uses it) - walk everywhere - that is the only thing that is keeping me fit - better than nothing though!

mabel1973 · 04/05/2006 11:43

Hk - I have bought some really nice denim shorts from new look, they are stretch denim, so I bought a size up and they sit under your bump - very nice for summer if you are fed up with your jeans!

compo · 04/05/2006 12:19

calvemjoe - sorry to hear about the backache
Hellkat - great news about the scan Smile
1Baby1Bump - congrats on another ds!! Can't wait to find out what we're having on monday Grin
Cori - sorry to hear about the sciatica Sad
Norms - hope the sickness eases soon. I'm definitely feelig better but still got a bit of a coldy virus sort of thing. Ds has it too - took him to the doctor today because he's got a rash but apparently it's connected to the virus and he can't be given anything to help Sad
Mabel - you are very brave going camping. Hope you have a nice airbed to make you comfy or have you one of those luxury mobile caravans?!!
Angeliz - good luck with your midwife, she does sound a sourpuss!!

Hi all

Lovely day here too. I even got the sun cream out today! I had a rough night with baby kicking me pretty much all the way through! Everytime I roll on my side I think LO squishes a nerve or something. It's not pleasant in the middle of the night!

Marls - yes, I've considered having an epidural. The way I feel at the moment I think I'll probably just take anything offered to me! I'm looking forward to starting classes to find out more about the options available. Has anyone started classes already?

Coriander - I don't know the sex of my baby either. I was really tempted at the end of the scan but I didn't so it will be a lovely surprise. Apparantly, the condition they think my baby has is more common in boys but as they're not 100% sure there is a problem I really have no idea.

1Bump1Baby - I wish they would re-scan between 20 weeks and the end. It seems such a long time to wait and it's so exciting watching baby grow.

Normsuckers - I had exactly the same thing written on my report after my scan. The consultant said they'd had a bit of trouble seeing LO's foot and leg because there was 'a bit of extra Mum' in the way! Charming! Blush I had to roll on my side too which I found really scary on top of the trolley thing. I find I'm not as able to judge depth etc at the moment so it felt a bit weird.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

calvemjoe · 04/05/2006 14:30

Norms, Thanks for the advice. Good luck staying off the meds

Going back to the garden to soak up some more rays Grin

mabel1973 · 04/05/2006 16:42

Compo - I am not brave - possibly mad! :o
Mandaz - can't believe your baby is kicking so much it's keeping you awake - must have one hell of a kick already!
you are right though, I think if you can lie on a nerve or a big blood vessel if you lie on one particular side (sorry can't remember which - I am sure someone else will know!), so they tell you not to lie on that side.

mandaz · 04/05/2006 20:47

Mabel - it only started last night and was just when I rolled onto my side. It's a really weird sensation. At least, i'm assuming it's baby - if not I'm worried Grin

The thing is I always sleep on my side and by the time I've turned over it's too late.

Has anyone else noticed more movement after certain foods? If I eat porridge or drink really cold lemonade I get quite a reaction! Baby definately going to do kick boxing when older!

Lysettes · 04/05/2006 21:07

hi everyone!

I have not had a chance to read through any posts, and i'm sure i'm missing out on very valuable discussion!

am down visiting my parents on the south coast and it's been glorious here today! had to get the sun cream out too.

will be back at home at the weekend and will try and catch up then, but I hope everyone is keeping well and coping (if i have missed anything major and this now sounds crass please forgive me!)

xxx

compo · 04/05/2006 21:10

lysettes - hope you had a good holiday. I live down South and although it was nice it being so warm today it did make me slightly worried about how i'll cope in August if we have a really hot summer. I felt really uncomfortable today so goodness knows what the summer has in store - expect me to moan lots!!

Marls001 · 04/05/2006 21:56

Hi all!

Decided against Montessori today. We really went over it; was tougher decision than thought. Liked the concept, but not the cost. Decided with this baby due right at start of school year, too much upheaval for DS. He'll stay at current Mothers’ Day Out (1/5 cost!). Might try Montessori next year (in a different place - won’t be here past Aug 2007).

Grin M&M’s & KitKats! We all need extra 300 cal/day to build a baby. Just downed a half bag mint choc. chip cookies myself. (Even when not pg tho that’s the way I eat Grin) Norms, ice cream sometimes the ONLY thing I could stomach with pg#1.

Cori – Really hope you’re feeling better soon. Your job does sound pretty cool, though.

Calvemjoe – LOL at your post – at least you’ve still got sense of humor above the pain …

Welcome to the 2-boys’ club, 1Baby1Bump.

Would someone please explain the concept of “gas and air”?

Is it that only pain relief option for y’all?

Is the gas oxygen, or -?

HellKat · 05/05/2006 06:16

Morning all.
Ahhhhh yet another glorious day!!! Got 1st load of wash on ready to hang out Grin.
Mabel- Ohhhhhh you're a brave woman wearing shorts lol would take me a tonne of fake tan on mine to look half way decent Wink.
Cori- I had bad sciatica with ds1 & 2 and have it this time around too. Lovely how your body goes to pot when you're pg eh? Nothing really helps mine but there's one great thing. It goes afterwards. Small consolation I know hun but at least it's something. Try keeping your legs up if you're resting on the couch or something. Sometimes helps a little.
Angeliz- Awwwwwwww at the little hiccups!
Mandaz- This baby's woken me up too with huge kicks. Watching on the scan I figured why I'm feeling lots of "kicks" at once. little monkey kicks & punches at the same time. No wonder it's so strong Smile
Last few nights I've lay there watxhing my belly do somersaults and seeing the little shapes baby makes. Ohhhhhhh I love this stage Grin
Have a wonderful day girls xxxxxxxxxxxx

mabel1973 · 05/05/2006 07:57

morning all!
am trying to type one handed with ds on my knee!
i am feeling very groggy this morning - not sure if it's too much sun yesterday or just dh's snoring keeping me awake (that and the dawn chorus - wslike being in the middle of the jungle this morning!)
HK - How did the shopping go? The only reason I am wearing shorts is - like you I am sick of my jeans and am sure I am going to go through the knees soon, as I spend so much time crawling round after ds and also I have been slapping on the Johnsons holiday skin, so am a shade darker than milk bottle white!
Lysettes - hope you enjoyed your trip to your parents and have been thoroughly spoilt!

LexyB · 05/05/2006 09:11

morning everyone

congrats to everyone that has had scans recently.

Hope the waether is as lovely today - I had my all day clinic yesterday so was stuck inside but determined to make the most of it today as working this weekend again. 4 loads of washing already out and the last one nearly finished in the machine - Oh the joys of having such a big family.

puppy · 05/05/2006 09:42

Morning all,

Hope you are all well, congratulations on those that have had scans. Can't wait for mine on wednesday.
Hope those with aches and pains feel better soon.
Nothing much to say, still having ms on a morning Sad. LO is moving lots and lots like you HK i was laid on the sofa yesterday watching my stomach move. he/she def moved after i ate some fizzy boot laces lol.
I'm also sick of living in my two pairs of jeans, not sure whether to get the denim pinafore dress form mothercare or just a skirt. I don't like to show my legs off they are defnatly not my best feature. I will get some cropped trousers for the hotter weather.
I will definatley have a epidural ths time round, I have one last time and it was fab Grin I was home the same day too.

Somebody said yesterday that I looked like I was blooming Smile.

Hope you all have a fab day in this gorgeous weather!

Bella23 · 05/05/2006 10:24

Morning ladies

Ye ha sunshine again.....mind you I think rain is forecast for tomorrow, typical!

Well not a lot to report here, planning on getting my work out of the way as soon as I can and then aiming to wander into the gardenGrin

Coriander73 · 05/05/2006 12:20

I had an epidural last time & it was fan bloody tastic!!! I ended up having pethadine, gas & air oh, & a general aswell so no wonder DD slept so well for the first 3 days!!!!!! I wouldn't hesitate about pain relief next time either...there are no prizes for being a martyr!!!!!!!! I just hope I can give birth naturally....who knows what body / baby has in store :o

Osteopath seems to have sorted me out although still some twinging....I would have to say that that pain it brought on was, in some respects worse than contractions! I did feel incredibly desolate yesterday...at least the sun is shinning eh?! :o I'm also living in the same pair of bloody maternity jeans & getting very fed up. Why does everybody else look great in maternity wear except me?!! I wont wear shorts unless I'm in a hot country..hate my legs!!

Marls, the job has had it's moments but it's no longer fun particularly as they have been so unflexible re reduction in hours etc. I would say more but you just never know who is reading these posts! Lot of talk in & around the office today that we're to be brought out by another big brand / competitor...that's it makes us all an offer we can't refuse..:o

mandaz · 05/05/2006 13:18

Hi all, it's such a lovely day! I feel so much happier when it's sunny and warm.

Hellkat - it's funny you should say that about your baby kicking and punching. My scan picture shows LO all curled up looking cute, but just above it's tummy is a clenched fist! It's moving about quite a lot today but I had a quiet night last night. I haven't seen my tummy move yet though but then I haven't really looked. I will now though. Smile

As for pain relief, I'm such a wimp normally! I'm going in with no expectations. My birth plan will be - whatever is offered I'll take! I think once you've had one baby then you at least have an idea of what to expect and how well you can cope with it. First time round I'll just do as I'm told!

Hope everyone has a lovely day too. They say it'll be thunder storms by the weekend but hopefully they won't last too long.

Woodelf · 05/05/2006 14:11

Hi there! Just back from scan and everything is exactly as it should be. Amazing to see lo in such detail. DH very chuffed and blown away by it.

LO eventually decided to let us have a peek as the legs had been really closely tucked up. The midwife was jiggling my belly around that just made be giggle and we are having a BOY!

Bit of a shock as I'd convinced myself it might be a girl - needless to say DH had a grin twice the size allowable and is probably ordering baby rugby kit as we speak. He's now contemplating getting one of those 4-d scans done!!

Hope everyone is well and blooming at long last!

compo · 05/05/2006 14:19

congrats Woodelf Smile I can't remember if it's your first or not?
I had an epidural last time and it definitely took all the pain away although I think it made the labour longer. And it wasn't nice not being able to get up and about afterwards because I was numb from the waist down. I remember having to ring the bell all night because I couldn't get out of bed to pick ds up and couldn't get myself to the loo!

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 05/05/2006 16:22
