HI alll!
Hope everyone is well and congrats to all those who've had scans!
I have been off line for a few days while we've moved the computer to the dining room (out of what will be the baby's room) and I have really missed my daily chat with you all!
Cori - what time is your scan on tues? Mines on tues as well at 2pm - I really can't wait!
I have purchased my double buggy - after much in depth research and weighing up pro's and cons of tandem versus side by side I have gone for the Out n About instep nipper, which is supposed to be the lightest and narrowest side by side on the market and I have not read a bad review of it anywhere - so am quite pleased. I shall add it to my ever expanding buggy collection.
Sounds like a lot of us are starting to suffer with aches and pains. I know my back is starting to take the strain abit now, although the sciatica hasn't started yet - thank goodness.!

tassis · 27/04/2006 20:31

Hi everyone!

Well as soon as I posted last night that there wasn't much to report preganancy-wise I started getting yucky reflux. Aaargh. Don't know if I've just over done it today, but my back and pelvis are aching tonight and I feel like I'm walking as if I'm at term! Taking the shopping out of the tesco trolley today was a NIGHTMARE. When I was pregnant with ds I used to use those high up trolleys, but now he'll sit in the seat (and we seem to buy a lot more food)so have progressed to the deep ones. Felt really pathetic today. Might have to start doing it online.

as I said last night, ds keeps askign if we need to buy stuff for the baby (no idea where he gets his shopping habit from Grin) and we keep saying that we have cot etc etc in the loft. Tonight dh had to nip up to the loft for something and you should have seen ds's face. He started saying "is the baby coming?" and looked so excited! Cute!

Lysettes - great to hear about your Mum

Welcome to RMW2 - I didn't do NCT classes last time, but I hear they're great. The social side of them can be really good too, I have friends still meeting up with their antenatal NCT groups almost 3 years later.

Curlygirl and Lexy - great re scans.

Bella - I've had a growth spurt too. It's nice that mat clothes properly fit rather than looking silly!

Mabel - I have a friend who has that pushchair. It looks fab!

Right off for a bath to relieve these aches and pains...

... which reminds me, do you all know about the boots pregnancy club? I joined and received a great book of treats that includes some lovley pampering freebies. Really worth it. Not just money off vouchers, but freebies. I got a gorgeous pregnancy bubble bath free and No 7 item up to the value of £16 etc.

Coriander73 · 27/04/2006 21:55

Thanks all for your advice, it's really appreciated. Poor DH has been struggling the past two nights but says tonight wasn't as bad so perhaps that's a good thing....apparently last night she just screamed the minute he tried to get her jimjams on & hid in the corner of her room refusing to be touched & throwing back her pjs & nappy at him!!. Aiii...it's so hard!

Congratulations on your little boy Norms & little girl Lexyb! Mabel, my scan is at 3pm!

This will sound a bit silly but I'm in my hotel room feeling sad & burst into tears just before. A combination of tiredness, missing home (DD made kissing sounds into the phone & said bye bye to me...!!), aches (my hips are really sore..) & feeling huge! I also suddenly just panicked about the birth (!!!!!)...DH says I'm just being hormonal!! I really don't do pg very well....just feel big & cumbersome...although I've finally felt a little movement today & that was so lovely - quite overwhelming infact to think there's a new life in there bobbing around! :)

Coriander73 · 27/04/2006 22:02

Oops..congrats to you too Curlygirl!

BTW, do you think we should start a new thread yet? We have a lot of messages!!!!!

Woodelf · 27/04/2006 23:00

Hi all!

Congrats to all those who've had scans and found out the sex too! Got to wait till 5th for mine. People keep telling me I've got a neat bump - I've never seen an untidy one!? Really grown in the last 2 weeks though... Embarrassment at a meeting where everyone spotted my bump - a bit ironic as i am covering maternity leave for work with Teenage mums! HEE HEE.

Hope it stays sunny for the weekend!

puppy · 28/04/2006 00:21

Hi all
Bella23 - yes the baby show is in Birmingham NEC 19-21 May and again in London 20-22 October. We are going in May (a good excuse for a great shop!). Oh and happy birthday for the other day - 33 is a great age (sadly I won't see it again!)

Tassis - am glad you enjoyed the glasgow one, I was hoping they would have stuff that can't be bought locally

Congrats to Norsmockers on your amnio - it's such a relief when that test is over isn't it? I had the CVS at 15 weeks and that was a nerve wracking time for me, but now is in the past and knowing the sex for definite is great!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Puppy, I'm finding out the sex at the birth too!! :o

Just spoke to DH who said that DD was up crying from 3 to 5.30 last night.....don't know what to do tbh. He did say it wasn't as bad (the crying that is) but something is going on in her little head, just what I don't know.

Bella23 · 28/04/2006 10:03

Morning ladies
Arh, Coriander sounds like your hormones are raging. Mind you sometimes a hotel room can be a bit lonely......put the tv on and have a little sob

Hellkat - ooh haven't had iced gems for years.....might have to try and track down some at lunch.

Tass - how do you join the Boots pregnancy thing? Do you go into the store? might check out their website

Woodelf - lucky you and the neat bump. yes very amusing, wonder who has the untidy bump. Probably me as I swear my arse is increasing at the same time as my bump!

Will update with my due date:

Hiya Bella.
Lol at the growing arse! mine too. Have a neat (ish) bump but thighs and rear have grown to humongous proportions! Iceland have buy one get one free offer on Iced Gems Wink

Normsnockers · 28/04/2006 11:10

Tassis, I got the boots voucher booklet and just need to find time to go in and claim all my freebies, I couldn't believe how much they give out free.

Bella, I filled out and sent off a form that was in one of those Emma's diary or Bounty packs and quoted my boots advantage card number and a few weeks later I received the freebies voucher booklet in the post.

I have also had a load of pampers vouchers from rejoining the pampers website.

For anyone with time off and access to a computer it's worth checking websites for freebies/money off vouchers by joining various clubs like the huggies club.

Ds is about to get a treasure chest of books from the bookstart promotion via his nursery. We never turn down a freebie in this house !

Bella23 · 28/04/2006 11:23

OOH Norms - have just been on the Boots website and signed up, cool!
Love getting free stuff in the post.

Ladies here is the Boots website \link{https://www.boots.com/parentingclub\Boots}

homemama · 28/04/2006 13:09

Hi everyone, hope you are all sickness free today. Yesterday was my first completely sickness free day. Smile Even though my sickness is so severe at least it only lasts the first 20wks unlike so many HG sufferers.

Norms, glad you're feeling a little better. Congratulations on your little boy in waiting. TBH, I'm more of a boy's mum too. I'd be quite scared at the prospect of a daughter. Of course, the baby's health is the important thing and I'll take what I'm given.

Cori, I was talking to my HV yesterday who is utterly convinced that young children can sense a change coming on when mummy is pg. She says she sees it all the time and it usually manifests itself in either sleep problems or sudden bad behaviour. I know that doesn't solve your problem but perhaps is what she's worrying about.

Oh and my DD is 21/9/06. DS was born on his DD so I'll be mightily peeved if this one is a lazy baby!

DH came in last night after a very good day at work and opened one of our £20 bottles of Rioja which we were saving for a special occ. I was very cross and Envy but then ended up having a small glass myself which tasted yucky to my pg tastebuds. So made a list of things I'm missing and DH has promised me a feast of them after baby is born. It goes as follows;

  1. red wine (esp Rioja)
  2. stilton
  3. tuna steaks
  4. goats cheese tartlets from our favourite resturant.
  5. shellfish
  6. Did I mention red wine? Grin

Are anyone else's cravings getting the better of them?

Lysettes · 28/04/2006 14:48

Norms - great news on your results, and on a boy! try crave maternity for suiting - it's supposed to be very good!

puppy- glad to hear that throwing up helps!

RMW2 - everyone keeps telling me I'm huge and asking if it's twins....

totally agree with you mandaz - chips are the best thing - chip shop chips salty and vinegary!

I'm just waiting for the boots booklet - and have joined as many clubs as possible for free stuff!

Cori you poor thing - just thinmk how lovely it will be when you are back at home, and agree it's a case of those preggy hormones running wild Smile

puppy - that's a great idea on the list - do you want us all to add info or do you want to update it?

my legs are like tree trunks although I apparently have a very neat bump!

And...........the big news of the day is that our scan went really well yesterday, all measurements and organs ok, and long legs. And it's a boy!!!! He wouldn't stop moving around though, and kept flashing his willy at us Blush And we are going for Jacob Alexander as a name we think.

I'm so happy and pleased that all looks as it should do and he's healthy, although the pre-eclampsia scan showed up a high likelihood of suffering from it, and that means he'll pretty definitely be born early, and will be a small baby.

but he's healthy and he's a boy!!!!!!

lol everyone, last day at work and it's a glorious day! have a great weekend

Normsnockers · 28/04/2006 15:43

Lysettes, congratulations on the scan results and I love the names Jacob and Alexander but we have both of those in the family already so unless we want ds2 to be named after a family member we'll have to cast the net a bit wider.

Do crave maternity have a website ?

Homemama, a sickness free day, hurrah !
(but did you clean your teeth ?) I still retch but at least nothing comes up and have postponed coming off the drugs and just cut down to half rations. I am however getting a lot more energy which I remember from last time was one of the plus points of later stages of pregnancy. I'll be "nesting" again before you know it

Here's to a lovely bank holiday weekend (I hear that we can expect the usual grotty mixed bag of weather)

Woodelf · 28/04/2006 16:39

Thanks Bella, have signed up to Boots.PSML about the increasing arse - no doubt mine will catch up in good time and catch me entirely unawares...

Homemama and Norms - hope you have a sickness free bank hols - I don't know how you have put up with HG.

HK - lol the ice gems! I'm into snickers bars, nutella on lovely granary bread and dulce de leche which is heaven on earth and v sweet. Odd as I'm not usually into such sweet stuff at all!?

Am off to conference on Tuesday and the Hotel has a pool! Will buy maternity swimsuit tomorrow as I suspect my regular one might give me a bit of a wedgie Blush and that's not the best way to appear in public - 'neat' bump or no!

Congrats on your boy lysettes!

lysettes congrats on your little boy.
I was going to update the list with my due date, but as I have my scan on tuesd I'l wait till then so I can add the sex as well.
Well I have been up all last night throwing up - not a complete surprise as DS had it on wed. It suddenly came on at about 8pm and I was throwing up about every hour til 4am this morning.
Have felt shocking all day and have just about managed to keep down a piece of toast, so going to have an early night nad hope I feel better tommrow

HellKat · 29/04/2006 05:53

Morning girls.
Lysettes- Congrats!!!!!
Homemama- Great news about the sickness. Here's to enjoying the rest of the pg.

Hope everyone else is feeling great and hopefully enjoying the sun (looks like it will sunny) Smile

Physio was fab! But it's not spd anymore. She says it was likely it was with ds2 but now it's progressed into "Pelvis laxticity" (sp). My pelvis is buggered lol. Years & years of horseriding loosened the front of the pelvis (where you get spd) and coupled with giving birth for the first time on my back, set me up for years of pain apparently. She says it's a huge no no for first time mums to birth this way. It tightens up the whole canal, making it smaller for baby & harder for mum and weakens the front pelvic area for furture pg's (makes you prone to spd). She wants to try & get mw's, dr's etc to start encouraging mums to be as active as poss in labour and deliver basically in any position other than lying on your back. Apparently on your side isn't too bad but best is anything kneeling, squatting, standing, on all fours etc.
So no more sitting cross legged for me, lying on my back, picking anything up, cleaning, hoovering, Shock basically I've got to rest it. But she knows I can't sit still for too long so said I can do the stuff that needs to be done, then rest lol. Best position for rest aswell (have to do this every night for a little while) is on all fours, leaning forward onto arms, head down, backside way up there lol. Looks hilarious but lifts babba out of the pelvis and apparently turns baby into the right position. Feels really good too! Girls you should try it Grin
Wow what an essay! Sorry all Blush
Have a wonderful day all.

HellKat · 29/04/2006 05:54

Mabel- Hope you're feeling better today hun. Poor you. There's alot going round.
