oops think thats the first time i have double posted lol

Lysettes · 18/04/2006 17:27

Puppy - I soooo want a potato ricer (how sad is that???) Blush

made lamb shanks for dinner last night but ate on my own as DH was stuck in the office, and looks like he'll be there again tonight. Lamb shanks again for me...

DH has offered me a bottle of whatever wine / champagne I would like, at whatever cost if I stay alcohol free for the pregnancy - I sense a really expensive bottle of red coming on, and not sharing it with anyone! What do we all think about a bit of bribery???

I am actually missing prawns a huge amount as well. We were due to go to Thailand around week 29, but because of the b pressure we can't travel that late, and I would have been so envoius of everyone eating them there! Good thing we're not going Smile

Did you all know that parmesan is made from unpasteurised milk? I didn't and happily ate a load last weekend - oops - haven't told dh!

have a great evening everyone

It's another boy! Grin ... This is our second, and last .. So, a boy brings lives more streamlined, maybe less interesting. No mother-daughter events, pink and frills, but queen of my castle. There's a yin & yang to the things we'll miss out on vs. the things we won't have to deal with, so we would've been okay either way.
What's interesting is, thought this one was more laid-back than DS, but scan showed fetus really moving! Dr. said I just don't feel most of it now, but will later!

Off to Houston tomorrow & then London Saturday; back in May! Stay well...

TopBanana · 18/04/2006 21:18

Congratulations Marls Grin

This baby was going to be my last but think I might have to try once more for a boy......just have to pursuade dp!!

mabel1973 · 18/04/2006 22:42

congrats topbanana and marls- fantastic news.
Can't wait for mine now - 2 weeks today! :)

ShaysMummy · 18/04/2006 22:45

i am due on 6th and already have ds 9 months.
we are having anomaly scan tomorrow- hoping for a girl but not bothered so long as it's ok.
have had flutters since 16ish weeks.
12week scan said placenta is on front wall of womb so dont feel many movements- have to prod and poke sometimes to reassure myself.

compo · 19/04/2006 08:35

calvemjoe · 19/04/2006 09:29

Bless you compo, hope you feel better soon.

Congrats on your little boy Marls.

Ds has started getting up before 6 and I really can't cope. I need my sleep and then he's hyper all day because he's not had enough. Very tired and worn out Sad

Bella23 · 19/04/2006 09:54

Morning ladies.
Sorry to hear you're not having great night sleeps. I slept badly last night as well due to my hips aching! Very bizarre and seeing as I can only sleep on my side at the moment I have no choice but to lay on my hips. I get it every few days, I guess its a hormone thing.

Marls - congrats on finding out its a little boy.

Welcome ShayMummy.

Very jealous of all your impending scans...

Well hope you all have good days xx

puppy · 19/04/2006 10:30

Congratulations marl, think this will be our last,
Welcome shaysmummy Smile, good luck with your scan.
oh compo I hope you feel better really soon.
DH still wants us to find out the sex at the birth grrrr, scan date may 10th seems ages away.

Lysettes · 19/04/2006 12:13

Congrats on scans, and hi Shaysmummy welcome!

It's our first, so we have not preference on whether it's a boy or girl, although I think secretely dh wants a girl!

20 weeks today!

scan a week tomorrow - can't wait!

the hip thing is apparently a hormone thing (had first ante natal class last week about looking after yourself!) - have you tried sleeping with your leg over a pillow? they said that was good for it.

felt little movements this morning - first proper non fluttery movements which was lovely Smile

have a great day, and try not to get caught in the rain everyone - it's supposed to be a real april day today!

calvemjoe · 19/04/2006 13:25

Bella, my hips are painful too, worse when i've been sitting at my desk for 8 hours and I agree with lysettes, my midwife said it's hormones.

Lysettes, congrats on getting half way Grin

Coriander73 · 19/04/2006 13:37

You've all made me laugh with your various comments re..erhm...the "entertaining yourself" question!!!!! It's not been mentioned since :o

I'm so excited for you all finding out what the sex is but as tempted as I am I'm not, but I'm finding it hard to keep convincing myself I'm doing the right thing!!! A colleague of mine who correctly guesed I was having a girl last time has just seen me for the first time in 2 months & said straight away.."I think your having another girl"!!!!! Now, of course this is just pure chance but she says she's never got it wrong, ever. Correctly guessed her sisters, other work colleagues etc.......we shall but see!!!! :o

pol25 · 19/04/2006 14:11

Sorry haven't been on for awhile ladies- ahlf term the past twoo weeks and have my new mindee too!
Hope you're all ok and doing well. I'm now 18 weeks and waiting for my scan on the 26th of May!
Also friend called last night and she had had another miscarrige (her third) did not know what to say other that I was sorry. Then she asked me how I was felt so awful and said I was fine and how was she keeping and her little boy etc... Wasn't about to go nattering on about my preg when she had lost her lil' one.
Thought about it all night and cried for her. Can't imagine how she must feel at the mo. I also think this will be her lot too and she will stop trying now. Feeling so sorry for her Sad .
Other than that getting fatter and hotter!!! So hot at night i'm not sleeping too well either.
GRRRRR who said this baby lark was easy!

homemama · 19/04/2006 15:29

Hi everyone!
Welcome Shaysmummy! Smile
I am completely overcome with sleepyness today and yesterday. I'm 18wks and the sickness is really starting to lift now. Still feel sick most evenings but only throwing up a couple of times a week now.

I can eat curry now which has cheered DH up no end. Well that's one of my two pre wedding promises being fufilled! He's going to have to wait a while for the other one as I can barely put a toothbrush in my mouth without gagging! Grin Wink

Our scan is on tue 9th may so not too long to wait. Although I'm feeling lots of movements and I also have the doppler, I'm really anxious about the scan. I know it's silly but I just feel I can't be that lucky to have two healthy, happy babies.

On a happier note, DS just put two words together for the first time. He said, 'DS' dardar which is his word for garden and he had his shoes in his hand and was pointing out the french doors. I was so chuffed as he's only 17mths and only has about 12 recognisable words. Having said that, I don't think language indicates much at this age as we have a friend whose son is the same age, has no words yet has an amazing understanding and can follow quite complex instructions. Smile

compo · 20/04/2006 11:23

Homemama - my scan is on Monday 7th May and i feel the same as you, although feeling lots of movement still nervous that everythign will be okay!! Roll on May Smile

Bella23 · 20/04/2006 13:43

Afternoon ladies, gosh all very quiet today. I hope that means you are all off having some fun and not just working too hard.

Homemama - love your mention of gagging on a toothbrush and therefore not venturing into other areas! Keep reading in books that some women get extra sexy during pregnancy - well I'm not one of them as being lardy is not doing anything for my desires!

Pol - must be very difficult for you to know what to say to your poor friend who has had a m/c. I have a couple of friends who are desperate for kids but haven't met anyone yet and feel like time is running out (they are 36). I end up really playing down my pregnancy and trying not to mention it as I know how hard it is for them.

Well hope everybody is having fun xx

Smudger73 · 20/04/2006 14:11

Hi all

Have been quiet last few days as work is horrid busy! Finally feeling movement - yay!

Had our 20 wk scan yesterday, am 20 weeks today -SHE was wriggling like a good un and all is well and good :)

Lysette, how was your scan? was it yesterday?

With regard to your bad hips things guys.. I have a congenital problem with mine but have found that the pillow between the legs is working for me... maybe try that.

Hope all are well x

calvemjoe · 20/04/2006 14:19

Smudger, You're having a girl? Congrats on a good scan.
Re the hip pain, I'm finding the pillow between the legs thing helps and not crossing my legs eases the pain too, so I'll second that! x

Bella23 · 20/04/2006 14:27

Smudger - arh congrats on finding out its a little girl.Grin
Right definately think I am having a boy now as there are so many girl bumps!!

homemama · 20/04/2006 14:54

Bella, have you checked it on the chinese astrology chart? Is claims to be 93% accurate. It says I'm having a boy and correctly predicted DS. Not that I'm into astrology but it's a bit of fun esp as we won't be finding out at the scan.
Pol, sorry about your friend. Hope she can find some peace.
Smudger, congratulations on your finding out she's a little girl.

mabel1973 · 20/04/2006 15:55

smudger - congrats on your little girl.
Bella I agree - sure I am having a boy again - Marls has the only boy amongst us so far.
Homemama - where can I find out about the chinese horoscope thing - am intrigued and think it would be fun!
I have trawled across nottingham today looking in all the baby shops for an 'instep nipper' to try out (before I make my purchase on ebay) - but couldn't find one anywhere!

Woodelf · 20/04/2006 17:33

Hi there, back from trip up to Lincolnshire - v tired with driving and keeping needing stops to pee!

Boy, has my bump grown - don't seem to look pg from the front but turn sideways and I'm like a ship in full sail!!! Blush Got to admit to being a bit scared about how i'll manage when reaching full blown size as uncomfy already...

PSML about the 'solo entertainment' bits when catching up - this site should come with a health warning!

benjaminsmum · 20/04/2006 18:25

Hi all - long time no see. With ds no longer sleeping in the day and falling asleep by 8.30pm there is not a lot of time to get on line. Sorry if I have missed anything drastic but congratsto those with scans and genders. We had ours on Wednesday and a little boy is winging its way to us. Our second. It looks like everyone is having what they already have which is a bit strange?

Everything else on the scan was fine although he is already on the 95th centile so will either be big or early not sure which I prefer given that early will make it the youngest in the school year.

I am thinking Alexander but dh not sure yet as he was hoping for a girl. We currently have a Benjamin.

Best go as ds needs his milk and Fimbles before bed. Hopefully it won't take as long to get back online again.
