Hi, anyone else out there who may be at the very earliest point of pg? I haven't taken a test yet but feeling nauseous and tired and thinking this is it

OP posts:

SecretSparkle · 08/11/2012 17:22

grain my scan is in December, I think I'll be 13+3 Sad so we've booked a private a few weeks earlier Smile

grainmum · 08/11/2012 18:07

That's really tough secret. But Smile for your private scan earlier. I'm also glad I didn't try to get an early scan now I've heard things about people having early "reassurance" scans then being told they won't get a 12-week scan.

DontmindifIdo · 08/11/2012 18:15

Carman - I do think if the government want to increase breastfeeding rates, they shouldn't have midwives lead with "great health benefits for your baby, reduce your chance of breast cancer" but go in with "it'll burn 500 calories a day and over a year you'll save enough for a pair of Jimmy Choos" and then go back to talk about health benefits for mother and child Grin

DontmindifIdo · 08/11/2012 18:16

Secret - we had a private scan last weekend (8 weeks) it did help reassure me. I do konw a few people who've had reassurance scans at 6-8 weeks on the NHS due to medical history problems or either pain/bleeding, but they've all had a 12 week scan as well.

dreamydays · 08/11/2012 18:21

:) dontmind on the marketing for breastfeeding!

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 18:23

Totally agree dontmindifido... We are on the same wave length!!!

PseudoBadger · 08/11/2012 18:25

My scan is 13+2. Just think of it as having more to see!

SecretSparkle · 08/11/2012 18:29

dont I'll be 11 weeks exactly on the date of my private scan so only a week earlier than most normal NHS ones!! I wouldn't have had one any earlier... Unless of course I thought something was wrong! I just don't want to have to wait an extra 2.5 weeks

PseudoBadger · 08/11/2012 19:30

Hormones! I just caught the end of the Simpsons episode where Homer's mother dies and I'm still crying :(

olimoss · 08/11/2012 19:31

Hiya - had my booking-in with the midwife on Tuesday; she was lovely, offered me a home birth straight up which I thought was aces. The breast feeding mafia speech soon after I was less keen on...it was very full-on! I have to see an Ob-Gyn consultant cause I'm old/a bit fat/have an existing heart thing but otherwise it's all community midwives and GP from hereon in. Pleasingly haven't put on any weight yet, although god knows how that's the case seeing as all I want (and eat) are carbs and salt, then some more carbs. Doesn't help the afternoon bloat at all.....

12-week scan is also 21-11. I think probably (hopefully?) that'll be the point at which I start to believe its really a human in there. Kind of scary, kind of cool?

Re: the FB discussions, I'm minded to stay here over FB really for all sorts of reasons, but let's see how we all feel in the second trimester?

Finally wanted to ask of anyone else has been getting headaches? I have, they're bloody horrid and one last weekend was properly migrainey and I couldn't take any of my usual, wonderful drugs to counteract it. I missed out on two big social dos with my closest group of friends. They are all getting v suspicious, and all due to come over to ours this Saturday and still no idea how I'm going to fake-drink boozes!

Good to hear all the rest of the group's news, it certainly relieves my mind that it's not just me acting a bit mental....

JeffActually · 08/11/2012 21:14

So pleased to see so many people here tonight, I was ready to get into my jammies, get out the jar of Branston pickle and start singing "All by myself, don't want to be....."

Not joining FB group yet, I love the anonimity of MN, I can say what I like Grin

I seem to have failed on the breastfeeding weightloss thang. I breast fed till DD was 15 months and within a month of stopping was pregnant again with still half a stone to lose...bugger!!

PseudoBadger god yes, hormones, nightmare, I will cry at anything!!

Has anyone had the weird pregnancy dreams - I swear I dream all night and they are getting ruder and ruder Blush

Mind you when I was pregnant with DD I dreamt she was a undercooked pizza - there's a thread about it somewhere Grin

AlohaMama · 08/11/2012 22:08

Excited that everyone is getting their scans booked - I haven't even had my first Ob appointment yet. I can't even remember when the first scan is here (in US). Last time, I had various problems so ended up having scans at 7, 12, 18, 31 and 35 weeks! Hopefully this time will be more straightforward.

Sadly Jeff can't say I'm getting the benefit of those kind of dreams!! Instead just lay awake at 3 am wishing I didn't feel so sick. Bring on 5 weeks from now and the (hopefully) end of morning sickness!

JeffActually · 08/11/2012 22:10

It's happened again...I am officially the June 2013 thread killer Sad

Night All

JeffActually · 08/11/2012 22:14

Ooo Aloha you're here!!

Hope this pregnancy goes a lot easier for you

Oh yes, I feel sick at 4am too, but its better than not feeling sick because then I panic Confused

I don't have my scan booked yet - I must be due around the same time as you as am only just 7ish weeks....so yes, roll on week 12!!!

AlohaMama · 08/11/2012 22:24

I'm often loitering around this time - it's lunchtime here (we're 10 hrs behind I think). Believe me it gets lonelier later...

Know what you mean about the reassurance of feeling sick. It's crazy isn't it, complain if you feel crap and stress if you don't! Still I don't remember it being this bad with ds. According to the old wives I guess that might mean I'm having a girl?!

Due June 28th (by my calculations). I turned out to be completely way out last time, so I'm sure the doc will soon put me right!

Dillydollydaydream · 08/11/2012 22:29

Liking the breastfeeding incentive - burn 500 calories you say? I'm in!
My MW at my booking appt warned me she was fanatical about breastfeeding and would keep on at me! I hadn't even said I was or wasn't planning on bf at that point!

I had to rebook my scan as it clashed with the school run, it is now over a week after the original appt and I will be 14 +5weeks which is over the cut off for the nuchal scan I believe. Still haven't told anyone in real life because I was waiting for my scan first.

AlohaMama · 08/11/2012 22:33

So true though dillydolly
When I bf my ds, I ate more cake than I'd ever eaten, did less exercise and was the slimmest I've ever been. If only that same cake diet worked the rest of the time...

Lyftiduft · 08/11/2012 22:51

hi, still checking in here too- no FB for me for now at least.

Finally have booking in next week, will be 10w ish, no idea when my scan will be as they don't sort it until you're booked in...! Few people in RL know now, my colleague/friend guessed today, and I told a couple of girls from my postnatal group as one of them has just had her 2nd and the other told us both together she's pg too (but a month ahead of me).

Olimoss, am unfortunately joining you on the headaches. Still horrible nausea though some progress, can now drink more normally, thank you whoever upthread recommended me a Brita filter :) Flowers

Can I recommend a combination of rose Schloer and rose sparkling wine for the fake drinking? That's how I got through our wedding party (not really a reception, we were very informal!) at 9 weeks with DS. I hid the schloer and had an obvious bottle of wine, just kept topping up from the schloer bottle instead. They look very similar in a glass...

Lyftiduft · 08/11/2012 22:52

or even Thanks

olimoss · 08/11/2012 22:56

Good tip, Lyftiduft!

MrsJLS85 · 09/11/2012 11:27

Can also vouch for the breastfeeding/loosing weight thing. 8 weeks post-birth I was back to my normal size 8 (but with massive boobs!) thanks to DD's fantastic appetite for breastmilk. I just sat on the sofa all day, with her latched on, watching daytime talk shows, and DH bringing me food 24-7. Was lovely! Looking forward to doing it again!

I have my dating scan on Monday (eeek!!) I'll only be 11+1 which is too soon for nuchal scan, but I have decided that doesn't really matter. Because if I were to have it, and I happened to come back high risk (and I'm not really in a high risk category) I wouldn't have the amnio anyways due to the high risk of miscarriage. So am not too bothered with that. Just can't wait to see the little one in there! Hope she's happy and healthy!

another one here who won't be joining FB group - I prefer the anonymity here on mumsnet

DontmindifIdo · 09/11/2012 11:42

of course the down side of the 'breastfeeding and cake diet' is when you stop breastfeeding, but don't stop eating cake, photos of me 2 months after I stopped breast feeding I look huge, I'd gone back up a dress size. This time must stop eating all the cake at the same time I stop breast feeding...

looneytune · 09/11/2012 13:17

No sore boobs for me and sickness only really in the early morning and before bed so am managing well at work just want another scan can't wait til Monday am dreading a missed miscarriage especially after we saw the heart beat 2 weeks ago. Confused

dreamydays · 09/11/2012 15:56

Totally with you in dreading mmc pinkapples. Have been feeling less bad this week and hope it's just because I've been eating loads...
