Hi Carman - Hope your appt went well and so sorry to hear about your Dad, I lost my wonderful Dad in June this year too. It's bloody unfair isn't it. I was reduced to tears earlier after hearing Clive Dunn had died and the radio playing 'Grandad'.

WRT your water retention - dandelion leaf tea is very good, although I am not sure how soon in pregnancy you can drink it, some of these herbal teas are not recommended in early pregnancy so best do some research just in case.

Shockedminder the lightheadedness is awful isn't it? I've had a couple of bouts of labrinthitus in the past few years and it feels exactly like that - like the morning after without the fun of drinking the night before....but it lasts all day Grin

I've just spent the last two days at my mums and had to hide the fact that I am feeling sick and I am sooooooooo tired. She's had me up in the loft sorting out stuff and we've been out for coffee with her friends this morning and then we went out for lunch - I then had to drive two hours home and have just collapsed on the sofa - it seems pretending you are fine for 48 hours makes you feel a lot worse when you let it out!

DH just fed DD and put her bed and has now gone out to get a kebab Blush I eat so healthily normally but I still cannot look a vegetable in the face and sometimes you just need brown food Grin

Preggersbycheggers well done for the reminder about pelvic floor, for those of you who are on your first - do them every day, many many times!!!!

SunnyL I'm joining you on the insomnia wagon, it is just hideous isn't it. Towards the end of my first pregnancy I was awake at 4am every day so ended up making lots of cakes, my DH had sandwiches to take to work every day...and I made many many lists...I find doing stuff makes me feel better, laying in bed getting cross does nothing for me.

Now of course if I wake up in the middle of the night I MN Blush

Oooo lovely - dinner has arrived!

JeffActually · 07/11/2012 22:04

Hmmm, where is everyone tonight?

Squidge123 · 07/11/2012 22:39

Jeff, r u goin to join the facebook group, have been chats goin on there tonight. Im feelin quite poorly at min, had forgotten how hard this early bit was!! Night everyone x

SecretSparkle · 08/11/2012 07:49

Carmen how was your appointment?

Jeff You really should take it easy!! We told our parents for this reason, at least they can help hide the changes in my behaviour, like I suddenly dont want my nieces and nephews jumping all over me, and I only eat half of an adult portion of anything!!!

I'm still on here, I've not joined the facebook group (I dont have facebook) unfortunately when a group goes over to facebook the threads become much less active Sad I hope all you facebookers will still come on here and talk!!!

I've had two days without being sick, woke up this morning totally convinced my symptoms had vanished.... sat up.... and then had to run to the loo!! gross!!!!

Only today and tomorrow and then its the weekend!!!!

Anothercerealnamechanger · 08/11/2012 09:44

Carmen I hope your appt went well, I also went to the GP to book in yesterday, news hasn't really sunk in yet.

I had a terrible night with DC1, up and down all night and today I feel really bad. I need to stop eating so much comfort food!

spiderlight · 08/11/2012 09:46

If I join the facebook group will it show up on my timeline/profile? I've got my inlaws on FB and we want to tell them when we see them at Christmas, after the 12-week scan, so I can't do anything that they might see that would ruin the surprise.

We haven't told five-year-old DS yet either. I'm fretting so much about how he's going to take it. He went to play with a friend whp's got a one-year-old brother the other day and came home saying what a terrible, terrible nuisance a baby would be!

Anothercerealnamechanger · 08/11/2012 10:04

Last night DC1 was really unsettled and it took DH and I to work out she wanted a drink, then a bear, then a cuddle with both of us and I felt so damn guilty for destroying her settled 2-2-1 existence.

I'm really panicking about telling work, and about telling family and trying to deal with 2 under 3!

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 10:10

Morning all! The GP was lovely, she gave me so many options as to where to have my care, put being new to area I had no idea where to chose!!! Well my symptons are in full swing lol... I have never been so tired, so hot or so thirsty........

I would love to join a FB group.. but like spiderlight I don't want it on my timeline for other people to see... XXXXXX

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 10:14

If anyone wants to add me on FB my name is Carman Arabella Hamilton Fletcher!

Anothercerealnamechanger · 08/11/2012 10:21

I had a bad bad experience in the Forum -> FB migration in a previous birth group (not MN), all anonymity was lost and for some of us that was very important so we chose not to go to FB. The threads then became very quiet and there was bitching on the FB about people on the forum. I really don't like FB, its 'too' connected IYSWIM? I also hate the way that FB changes its privacy settings every 5minutes and as I have lots of pics on my profile of my family and friends I am paranoid they could be viewed by friends of friends of friends. I hope enough people stay on MN to keep threads going, I now only use my FB group to stay in touch with friends who have moved away

For those worried then if you are in a secret group the only people who would see it on your timeline are those in that secret group.

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 11:02

Good points there Anothercerealnamechanger!

Dillydollydaydream · 08/11/2012 11:10

Ooh. I got my dating/nuchal scan appointment through - 21st November :) less than 2 weeks! It's at 3 though and my 2 dc finish school at 3.10 so might need to reschedule that, drat!
Has anyone else got their 12week scans soon?

PseudoBadger · 08/11/2012 11:11

I'm still on the thread (and on Facebook) but haven't had the patience or felt well enough to post too much recently. I think it's quite easy to accidentally be ignored on a large thread like this which is why I quite like the FB group, but I like that everyone is here and it doesn't leave out non-FBers.

dreamydays · 08/11/2012 12:26

Me too pseudobadger. I am confident that the FB group is 100% secret, otherwise there's no way I'd be on it. They're quite different, I like the way that FB allows separate threads to develop on lots of points at once, lets you show photos if you want etc; meanwhile of course there are lots of pluses to this sort of thread too :)

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 13:48

As rough as I feel I really don't want to put on too much weight and I want to exercise. What exercise if any is everyone doing?

Anothercerealnamechanger · 08/11/2012 13:57

I don't want to put on weight over and above what is healthy, I will start yoga at 13 weeks and I will start swimming again soon as well.

Squidge123 · 08/11/2012 13:59

Carman, I went to gym on Monday, didn't feel up too running so went on treadmill for fast walk and cycle, prior to getting pregnant I was doing a lot of long runs but just feel too ill now and have put weight on already. When I start feeling better then will go back to gym more, was suppose to go this mornin but after dropping kids at school went back to bed!! swimming is suppose to be good but I cant swim very well x

DontmindifIdo · 08/11/2012 14:06

Carman - I'm lazy! but I walk a couple of miles a day, however I'm finding pushing DS up a hill near us when he's in the buggy a killer all of a sudden, and the walk up the escalators from the tube to London bridge station (3 sets) is really taking it out of me on work days! I think that I'm going to have to be one of the people standing on the right soon...

Slightly nervous about the pushing DS issues, if it's hard now, when i've got DS on a buggy board and a new baby it's going to be a killer! (I'm hoping I can breast feed again, only way I got my figure back last time, sod the health benefits for the baby, that's 500 calories a day burned while sat on the sofa!)

PseudoBadger · 08/11/2012 14:09

I walk the dogs briskly, I did run but have had a hamstring injury for several months and the Dr told me not to run with it whilst pg. I will swim soon.

PseudoBadger · 08/11/2012 14:09

And I breastfeed DS - that's exercise right! I walk a lot with him too, and I walk at work.

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 14:16

Thanks everyone! Swimming and walking it will be!

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 14:48

Oh and I like dontmindifido idea of breast feeding burning 500 calories sat on the sofa bring it on....

SecretSparkle · 08/11/2012 15:01

I think I might take up swimming, although pretty sure my swimming cosie wont fit anymore!! must purchase a new one and then get myself down to the local pool!!

Carman1 · 08/11/2012 15:03

likewise SS!!! I've put weight on already oh dear!!!!!

grainmum · 08/11/2012 16:53

Dillydolly I got my scan appointment through today too - booking with midwife 23rd November, scan 26th. And there's no good reason that DH won't be able to come with me to the scan - phew. I'm really pleased that it's at the 12 week end of the period you're meant to have it - don't think I could have waited until 14 weeks.
