I won't be joining the FB group, but hope these threads will remain active with people. My DD's birth club went over to Facebook when ahe was a few months old and ended up watching the tumbleweed passing through!r

AlohaMama · 06/11/2012 00:26

I'll be here for a bit though I don't post much. Just read and feel reassured that I'm not the only one feeling morning/day/night sickness. I don't remember it feeling this bad last time, just hope I feel better in time to enjoy Christmas dinner!

Pregnancy insomnia has kicked in, I am shattered all day and now I'm wide awake - arghhh! DD has been doing little whingy cries in her sleep, it doesn't take much to wake me up and as soon as I am alert I find it impossible to go back to sleep.

So now I am downstairs on the sofa - there is nothing wrong with a cup of tea, rhubarb yogurt and ginger nuts at 4.30am is there...what the baby wants and all that Grin

Joining in the pushchair convo, we were given a travel system by a friend which we only used three times as DD spent her first 13 months being slung around in a Kari-me sling. We are not at all lentilweavery but just decided that was the way we'd do things and she loves it.

Being up high meant that she was always centre of attention and people spoke directly to her and I think as a result of that she is now really sociable. We have recently moved on to a hippychick hip seat - which I can't use now because of this new bump - but she has just started walking on her own so hopefully will shortly accept her legs are the new mode of transportation Grin

Saying that, we did use the carrycot part of the travel system as her cot downstairs until she grew out of it, so we didn't have to move her moses basket around.

I can't remember if I said upthread but I had my first midwife appt last week - a little early maybe but I am unsure if I am 7 or 11 weeks as my LMP was probably 15th Sept but was 5 days early and very light. I told the midwife this but she decided that it was defo my LMP and not the one before so has me down as due 22nd June.

She was really lovely, retired three times and is just working as a stand in until the new midwife starts. Problem is - she is as mad as a box of frogs - during the appt I was wittering on, as I do, and said something about when I was at Uni and when it came to the bit where she took my details I told her my job title she put it down as "Shop Assistant (but has a degree)" as though it was relevant!!

Made me Grin, but I now feel that I will have to explain to everyone who see my notes that it was the crazy midwife and not me trying to big myself up - I don't think having a degree in business studies helps much when you are pushing a baby out your fanjo!!

Also, a bit worryingly when she was looking back though what she had inputted onto the system she said 'Oh, it looks like I have you down to go to ** hospital which is weird as that is a psych ward.....Oh, well I'll get someone to change that at some point' Hmm

Bloody hell, I just read that back, feel free to ignore me from now on - I ramble like a rambly thing when I'm tired, which probably means I should go back to bed.....unless anyone is awake for a chat.....

fishface2 · 06/11/2012 06:19

Hilarious jeff. I've had a similar night to yours do needed a laugh - thanks phope you day goes ok x

preggersbycheggers · 06/11/2012 06:39

Re carrycot for pram I would highly recommend looking for a second hand one even if it is your first baby.
They are around £125 brand new and you will find that many new mums bought them and their little one used it a handful of times. Just buy a new mattress to go inside.

Glad everyone is doing ok. Like cereal I won't be joining the fb group but will post here from time to time.

kiwi5 · 06/11/2012 07:07

Hiya. Think i might wait til scan before joining fb group. Have been debating whether to go for early scan-mc in may. But sil has just had a mc at nine weeks and think i couldnt cope with seeing heartbeat now at 8 weeks then not seeing it at12. I am not usually pessimistic, but just so anxious.
On a buggy front, we had a obaby zezu pramette. Still use it for dd who is 22 months. It can be a pram and then can turn into a buggy seat when they are older, option of rear facing too. Bit bulky, but it was invaluable as dd would only sleep when moving for ages!!
Happy tuesday everyone!

SecretSparkle · 06/11/2012 08:04

I think we're likely to use a carrier sling thing if we walk any great distances! And if we can afford it we'll get a carry cot attachment but when baby is young if I'm using the bus I'd want baby in car seat anyway for added security!!

Anothercerealnamechanger · 06/11/2012 10:12

We had a close sling which was the best money we spent. I now have a wrap conversion which I can let people know more about if they want which I carry my 2 stone 27mo in comfortably. Some days toddler just wants to be near me and it means I can get on with things. We had an iCandy carrycot when she was little and she bloody hated it. I think we will sell the iCandy and get a double mountain buggy off eBay which I can put DC1 in (walks well but will be under 3 when DC2 arrives) and have a carrycot for the inevitable walks out to the park i have it on good authority the only way to maintain sanity is to get out of the house

Sams4lo · 06/11/2012 11:01

Hope everyone is feeling a little bit better today :)

The tiredness is so bad at the moment :( but just booked myself in for a 10wk scan on Friday as I keep getting pains :( sadly I've had to go privately because I don't feel well enough to sit in a hospital and wait for hours (like I did with dc1,2 and 4)! So very emotional about it now, not sure if I'm going to cry with relief or anxiety :( bloody hormones are driving me mad lol x

Carman1 · 06/11/2012 12:30

Hi all.. I joined the July bus however, I've got my dates wrong and I'm due in the middle of June.. It's my first and I know absolutely nothing about babies!!! So I have alot to learn very quickly!

spiderlight · 06/11/2012 13:01

Hello! I've been on the wrong bus as well - got a BFP on Sunday but got confused with my LMP date and thought I was due in late July, but it's actually late June. Doh. It'll be our second and is very, very unexpected, so I'm still in shock!

Carman1 · 06/11/2012 13:06

Hi Spiderlight! XX

Carman1 · 06/11/2012 13:11

My due date is the day my dad died last year.. Not sure what I think about that???

MrsJLS85 · 06/11/2012 14:40

Hi spiderlight and carman, welcome to June bus!

I haven't posted in a long time.. been mostly laying down on the sofa. DH has been a saint taking care of DC1, getting her ready for nursery, doing all the cooking, cleaning, etc. And boss has been super understanding too, so I can really just chill out and watch tv. MS was horrid a few weeks ago and couldn't hold anything down, but then GP gave me a prescription for Cyclizine, which is great. It makes me drowsy and tired, but at least now I'm keeping most things down

12 week scan is next week! I can hardly wait. Am jealous of those who have had early scan and seen the heartbeats.

carman, what a special situation. I'm sure you can look at it from both angles, but I think its best to see it in a positive light; that your dad will always be a part of you and your DC, and you can try to view this as a special thing, a type of bond your baby and father have. sorry if that doesn't help or if I've said the wrong thing. congrats on your first pregnancy! You will love motherhood, it is such an amazing time Smile

Carman1 · 06/11/2012 15:00

Awww thank you xxxx

Anothercerealnamechanger · 06/11/2012 15:15

carmen so sorry for your loss

there is a very good chance this baby will also be delivered on or very close to my DF's birthday - as yet I can't decide if that is a good or a bad thing and so I imagine with it being so raw for you it will take a little while to process how you feel. If it makes you feel sad then remember only 5% of babies arrive on their EDD

Carman1 · 06/11/2012 15:32

Thank you! My dad died on Fathers day last year, he just quietly passed away in the chair. He wasn't even ill at 63 years old. I guess I'm still in shock about being pregnant ... I never expected to fall my partner is on a mild chemo drug so everything in that department is reduced. Then to hear when it's due was in a way completing a cycle and a present from dad. Even though I bet my dad is laughing his head off me and a baby??!!! Who would ever of thought that... horse yes, but baby??!!! ROFL...

preggersbycheggers · 06/11/2012 20:03

I meant to also add at the end of my last post.

LADIES - DON'T FORGET THOSE PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!

Over and out!!

3littlewomen · 06/11/2012 20:30

Hi Carmen.... A special gift from a Dad looking down Thanks

I think this one is due very close to my DM 20 year anniversary... She passed away in my arms after a long battle with breast ca.... I still miss her, and my DH always knows I am really in labour as I plead with him that I need her.... He then has to explain to midwifes he really can't get her, sadly.

However my youngest is the spit of her... In looks and temperament. When she laughs it could actually be my Mum, which is lovely!

Sarah2506 · 06/11/2012 21:11

Hello Carmen. My Dad died in August and my baby - also our first - is due on fathers day. Whenever I worry about her (always a she in my head!) I always think that Dad is keeping an eye out. Have you told your mum yet? I haven't - she lost her husband and her mum within 2 weeks this summer so I haven't wanted to give her hope and then have her deal with more loss. But we had a scan today at 8+1 and it was all good with a strong heart so I'm thinking I may tell her this week. I've been very emotional about everything and think of Dad all the time at the moment. Wish this baby would have known her Grandad but we shall make sure she knows all about him:-) xx

SunnyL · 07/11/2012 06:08

Oh god i'm so fed up with this insomnia. For the last 4 weeks i've been awake between 2 and 5am. Tonight was the absolute worst though. I've been awake since 1am and have a big meeting i'm chairing today with some of the countries leading experts. Argggggg!

PseudoBadger · 07/11/2012 06:59

Morning everyone, I've been off the thread for a while. Nice to see lots of new faces :)

Carman1 · 07/11/2012 10:03

Morning all! Thank you all so much for your heartfelt words, it means so much! XXXX

Hope everyone is OK? Could I have water retention???!!! My fingers look like sausages??????

shockedminder · 07/11/2012 14:06

Hi all

Fed up with the light headedness now but really pleased the nausea I had last week has passed, I'm back to being hungry all the time! And yes, the tiredness is horrible isn't it! I didn't get to sleep til gone 2am last night and although my alarm clock was set for 6.30am, I didn't wake until alarm for dh went off at 7.25, 5 mins before my first 2 mindees were due to arrive - massive panic to get ready which didn't help the dizzyness lol! Now I'm just wanting Friday to hurry up so I can have my scan and see if all is ok plus confirm who's dates are right! I'm incredibly nervous as feel it will be bad news but I'm sure that's what most of us are like?

Welcome to all the newbies :)

Carman1 · 07/11/2012 14:39

Just getting ready for my first drs appointment! I'm nervous as I don't know what to expect...
