I would imagine I'll be the first to post here for a little while - I just found out today.

Look forward to hearing for you soon Smile

Hi all,

Hope you have sorted out the chickenpox crisis now spinamum - at work last year the kids had a chickenpox outbreak while a couple of teachers were pregnant and it caused a few issues, but it turned out they had both had it so all was fine. They both now have lovely 6 month olds, so sure you will be fine too.

I had my appointment with the consultant yesterday - no scan which was a bit disappointing but everything else went well and they don't want to see me until after my 20 week scan so pleased about that.

Feeling rubbish still, although now have permanently engraved sea band marks, and they are helping, but even if I think about food I want to be sick. So cruel to have escaped with minor nausea until 8.5 weeks and then have this now! Other than that have been soooo tired, as I think everyone else has been.

3 weeks to 2nd trimester though - and some of you must be there already - lucky things!

Have a good weekend everyone xx

jabberwocky · 26/05/2006 03:01

Took a 3 hour nap today Blush, am wondering how much longer I'm going to feel this tired. ms comes and goes but not as bad now. Has anyone hit their 2nd trimester yet?

Devongirl · 26/05/2006 09:27

Hi everyone
Will be 11 weeks on Sunday and ms is worse than ever, as is constipation which isn't helping at all! Had really acute pains yesterday which freaked me out totally but had a glass of water and it went away - definitely indigestion not anything to worry about. I feel so guilty for moaning though, I really don't want to as I am very happy. Roll on another few weeks though and maybe it will start subsiding. I hope so!

Got my scan date, woohoo, June 6th! And the midwife is coming on Sunday x

yomellamoHelly · 26/05/2006 09:42

Hello everyone!
Also on the countdown to 2nd trimester devongirl. 10.5 weeks now. PIL coming for the weekend and am wondering if they'll spot my bump (already in maternity jeans - normal ones way too uncomfortable) and if they'll say anything.
No sleep last night so feel lousy today and feels like a long time since the excitement of the bfp. Thankfully ds didn't want to go out to playgroup so am at least on sofa.
Hope everyone has a good bank holiday (lego land booked - hurrah!)

cupcakes · 26/05/2006 10:16

we're going to legoland in a couple of weeks for ds's birthday. Hope the weather improves!
We also had the chickenpox scare - my parents are pretty sure I've had it but I would have prefered them to have been a bit more definate! I finally had my bloodtests this week so the mw said she's get them to check if I'm immune. Since then however I took ds to a party where one of the boys came out in spots the following day. As you say, I'd rather ds and dd got it now rather than when the baby is small.
I was worried yesterday because I was getting slight pains which were reminiscent of my mc but they seem to have gone today and I've been feeling nauseous again so hopefully everything's still ok. I've got my dating scan on Tuesday.
I've told loads of the mums at school now as they had all guessed from my bump. Hope it doesn't get back to ds. I don't want to tell him till after the scan.

SRM · 26/05/2006 11:52

Hi, how much weight should you put on in first 12 weeks? I got huge in my first two pregnancies and don'twant to do so again. Trouble is I feel so sick and only thing that makes me feel better is eating!! Is anyone else worrying about it or should I just stop weighing myself!

cupcakes · 26/05/2006 11:59

I used to be like that but this time I just feel weak and dizzy and so have to keep snacking for that reason. It's after I've eaten that the nausea hits.
Hopefully when you ove into the second trimester you'll be able to watch what you're eating (although I never could, having developed a huge appetite by then Blush).

Devongirl · 26/05/2006 16:09

We are all in the same boat aren't we, getting all whingy! I hate moaning but never knew just how relentless 'morning' sickness could be, it really wears you down. I keep thinking that I am hungry so eat something little and then feel sick again. Also have the most ridiculous belchy hiccups all the time which sound stupid, anyone else?

xx

Whoops managed to post twice, sorry!

magnolia1 · 26/05/2006 17:05

Afternoon ladies,

I am as usual feeling worried. Thinking of hiring a doppler but not sure??

Haven't heard from midwives at all and 10 weeks now. Have you all been booked in?

Not sure how to contact them to make sure I haven't been forgotten Sad

Devongirl · 26/05/2006 17:36

Hi Magnolia - I was the same as you, waiting to hear from the midwife, but she phoned me on Monday and said she never tends to contact people until the tenth or eleventh week. I know how you feel though, in limbo. Can't you get your doctor to chase it up?

x

cupcakes · 27/05/2006 14:43

it does seem quite late but then practices do vary. Ideally though if they want to do a dating scan that is best done by week 13 so I'm surprised they don't want to get you in the system earlier. Ours sees you from 7 weeks (though I saw her earlier this time).

spinamum · 27/05/2006 20:30

in pg one,i saw doc as soon as I found out. Then was told I'd see m/w in wk 12.(a very long TWO months later)she popped round on a sunday after i'd been out to celebrate my birthday.(house full of uni friends in shock that one of us was pg)

This time my m/w has called me but we're not meeting til wk 12 again (due to clashing hols) And she's told me to fill as much of the blue book as i can manage. I'm at complications in previous labours so far!!!!

My scan is wk 13. everyone is very laid back about seeing me and beanie.

Some of my friends who had babies in btw didn't see m/w til WK 16 cos it was bean number two.

I think it varies so much from area to area and even from year to year around here.

Debbsy · 28/05/2006 08:59

just popping in to see how hi and see how everyones doing?

lennied · 28/05/2006 11:10

Hi Debbsy,

Good to hear from you - most of us are suffering with ms and are extremely tired - hence a bit of a lull in activity on here. Hope you are ok - and are you in your 2nd trimester now?

For info on the appointments front:

(mine is 1st baby)

Saw GP as soon as I found out
Midwife booked me in at 8 weeks
Saw consultant at 9 weeks (as have pre-existing medical condition)
Booking bloods done at GPs surgery at 12 weeks
Dating scan at hospital at 13 weeks
Midwife 2nd appointment with results from blood tests etc at 14 weeks
Then I have to see midwife at 18, 22....weeks (every 4 weeks until 3rd trimester), have anomaly scan at 20 weeks and see consultant again after the scan.
In 3rd trimester midwife is every 2 weeks until 37 weeks and then every week.

I think that is fairly standard for a 1st baby - for later children I think it is fairly common for the midwife to leave you to it until around the time of your anomaly scan.

From what I gather from friends and family not all areas offer dating scans and in some areas the midwife will book you in at 12 weeks and you will have your bloods done at the same time. So I wouldn't worry if you haven't seen anyone yet but I would give your GP surgery a ring and check that an appointment is on its way.

calsworld · 28/05/2006 19:14

Hi all, not posted for absolutely ages, mainly as I got so fed up up hearing myself whinge..I can happily report however that MS has taken a significant turn for the better - At last! I passsed the 13 week mark on Friday and was last sick on the Tuesday before - so hoping its really going to stay better!! Even the nausea has subsided to when I get hungry - and I do need to keep emergency snacks on hand but to all you a few weeks behind, hold on, it really does get better!

I'm still wearing my wristbands though and I've been buying preggie pops and preggie pop drops for eating at work, which I actually think have been helping..and they taste nice too! Not quite ready to give them up in case it gets worse again!

I'm so pleased with myself - I managed to go to a restaurant for the first time since week 8 without battling with the smell! Hurrah!

I've got the week off work this week, with FIL visiting to help do lots of work on the house, and he's a real workaholic so think it could be tiring - but looking forward to seeing some paint on the walls at last - its only been five years!!

Anyway, best go - sorry for the marathon!

yomellamoHelly · 28/05/2006 19:25

Must have the latest booking-in app. Scheduled do 18th July (think that's 17.5 weeks).
Went to legoland today. Was excellent (and sunny - woohoo!) - if a bit mind blowing that so much is designed for a four year old.

contentmum · 29/05/2006 21:09

Hi there, can I join in?
Have been following this thread since it started but been rather reluctant to join after a few scares, but having reached the 13 week stage feeling more confident.Smile
I'm due on December 3rd although mw and consultant can't agree - not sure how one day makes a difference but who knows how they think!
Had scan at 12 weeks - first time round had to wait till 18 weeks. Also seen mw but not seeing her again till 25 weeks. Feel a bit abandonned!

spinamum · 30/05/2006 11:15

welcome contentmum. glad you're joining us.

Has anyone else "popped" recently. I'm sure everyone at work and the ILs have noticed i'm pg. I'm beginning to think it might not be beanie, but beanies and DH thinks I might be a month further along than I think. Did he not notice the Zeal thermo, two fertility charts, ovulation tests, etc etc. I know when I ovulated!!!!! Not that I actually was using any of the above when I did conceive. I was bored with it all at that stage! I did one ovu test and then thought "I can't do this anymore" Hey presto, pg.

I'm also finding some days I don't feel like total PANTS. Maybe DH is right. Maybe I'm due in Nov. Maybe I've just let myself go and can't be bother to hold my tummy in any more. Maybe it's wind!

Bring on the scan!!!!!

Devongirl · 30/05/2006 15:44

Hi Spina

Well I am definitely showing, I have quite a bump already and there is no way I am due any earlier than Dec 17th! I had a dream last night that it was twins but there isn't any history of it in either family. I keep wearing more and more baggy clothes to hide it but now I just look fat!

yomellamoHelly · 30/05/2006 18:16

Dh keeps saying "oohh there's no hiding that bump", but if I really breath in it will disappear (just can't keep it up!). Waiting to get to the stage where even when I breath in it doesn't go :)
Veins went in my leg this weekend. Really fed up about it. Was warned my leg would be horrible by the end of a next pregnancy (2 previous dvts) but didn't expect it before I was properly pregnant, iykwim. Worst is that most of my leg's gone numb, so currently wondering how that'll develop. Ho hum! I think I'll become one of those "the things I suffered for you" mums Grin
Hope everyone else is fairing better.

lennied · 30/05/2006 19:57

Hi everyone and welcome to contentmum - glad to have you join us, we have lost a couple of people to Due nov and now spinamum is trying to jump ship too!!!! Grin

I am also having trouble covering my tummy now and this is my first! Haven't got a proper pg bump but am so bloated still (have given up on trying to hold the wind in too ha ha Shock) that tummy looks rounded. Am down to my last pair of work trousers that fit and am off this week and slumming it in my trackies - got a feeling might have to do some clothes shopping before I go back to work on Monday.

Am 10 weeks today and officially feel rubbish - still being sick and still falling asleep at the drop of a hat so I think I'm well and truly due december. Some of you must be starting to feel a bit better though - since I am practically the latest due date. You are my light at the end of the tunnel after that post calsworld - and where do you get preggie pops? I have tried Boots and Mothercare with no luck.

Have finally told my Mum and most of the family this week so starting to feel real. Hope you are all ok xxx

accessorizequeen · 30/05/2006 20:57

Sure you will feel better soon lennied, I'm due 15th & this last weekend had a couple of feeling human days which was lovely. mothersbliss.com do preggie pops.

calsworld · 31/05/2006 10:04

Lennied, i've only found them on mothersbliss.com - I've ordered twice now and had delivery within a couple of days both times...they had a secure worldpay payment link too so seems v safe. Smile

Re flavours - in the variety bag there is ginger - ok if you like ginger hot tasting but I couldn't do it, lavendar - am keeping that for an extreme emergency as don't think I will like it and sour raspberry, orange and lemon. I think these are the best by far and have bought sour fruits only on my second order.

Obviously my last post was a little premature, as nausea and sickness seems to be back again..Sad..although it could just be all the dust!

FIL has been up at 7.15 every morning to start doing the DIY - yesterday it was 6.45, and FIL and DH haven't been stopping until somewhere between 8 - 10. Think all the change in routine is what has upset it all...almost looking forward to going back to work.

Sorry for long post...am bored...even when not pregnant I'm not allowed to do anything other than make the tea and provide food - FIL's very traditional - but a bloody good painter and decorator so am NOT complaining!

Thank goodness for MN - today could have been particularly painful otherwise - they are sanding the hall and landing so I've been sealed into the dining room with access to the toilet and kitchen. Lucky I sneaked the laptop in!!Grin
