I would imagine I'll be the first to post here for a little while - I just found out today.

Look forward to hearing for you soon Smile

I had my dating scan yesterday and so I am definitely due 21st December. Which shows that that calculator I used for working it out from date of conception was completely accurate!
It was such a relief to get the scan - even though I'd had one just 3 weeks ago. I cried when she said she could see the heartbeat. Even in three weeks it has changed so much. I could see the head, body and arms and legs moving about. And then 'she' moved round and showed 'her' bottom. I know you can't tell the sex at this stage but I have decided it's a girl. Grin
(I will change my mind several times about this!)

lennied · 31/05/2006 10:56

Thanks calsworld and AQ for the preggie pops site - have ordered some at 1.15am - couldn't sleep as felt sick and all hot and bothered. But feel a bit brighter today.

Sorry to hear that you haven't been well again calsworld, but it'll be so nice once they have finished the house. At least you won't have to worry about it for a while, and we're all more than happy to read your posts. I am off work this week too and DH is taking the mick out of my belly - starting to get a bit offended!! To be honest I have been eating more than usual the last few days so I think it is partly tubs rather than baby.

Congratulations cupcakes on the scan, am really pleased for you and glad that you seem to have bonded with baby. I haven't really at all yet, am hoping that the scan will make it all feel real. Everyone seems to have names for theirs like bump or prawn or blob or something. We just refer to 'it'. Not very welcoming!

calsworld · 31/05/2006 11:15

I went to B&Q yesterday to pick up some more paint supplies, a little boy (about 4?) walked past and said, "mummy, that ladies pregnant" - OK so I'm wearing decorating overalls but I'm not that big! I was however absolutely desperate for the loo and my bladder being full seems to make my tummy swell way out of proportion to the quantity of wee....oops TMI, Sorry!

We bought this house five years ago, and in the last four days, FIL has finally done (most?!) of the finishing touches to the Kitchen, utility room, toilet and dining room....last night we finished stripping all the wood chip from the hall and landing (ceilings too!) and now they are sanding the bare walls to try and make them flat.

FIL is here till Friday, when we have a changeover and my parents arrive for the weekend, hopefully we'll have skirting boards, coving and paint in place by then...I just feel such a fraud not doing anything - except delivery food and drink....

My DH has named my tummy 'Bob the bump'. I wasn't happy coz Bob is boy's name and we have no idea...my niece said at the weekend "if its a girl you must call it Emily" (which is our chosen girls name) so I asked what if it was a boy - and she said "its already got a name - Bob"....DH is in trouble now....it won't be long before everyone thinks the same!

Even though I have a name, it was invented by DH and I don't really feel like I'm bonding at all...at the moment I'm worried that it's OK, worried that I'll be a crap mum, worried that it won't like me, which I think is normal...guess they'll be plenty of time for bonding after its born?

Now, off to shove another preggie pop in.....(only a boy could make me this sick, surely!!!!)

accessorizequeen · 31/05/2006 12:59

Lennied, I think when all you feel is sick and tired for months and haven't had a scan yet it's pretty hard to bond! All feels a bit imaginary at this point & not much to bond with. Well, that's how I felt then, and now (pre-scan, but to be honest, couldn't see a thing at 12 week scan!)

lennied · 31/05/2006 14:59

Calsworld...earlier after I posted on here I said to DH that everyone seems to have a name for their baby except us - and he has been calling it Bob all afternoon!! How strange!

The house sounds like it is coming along nicely - and I wouldn't worry about being on drinks delivery duty, better than painting any day. I HATE painting with a passion.

Thanks AQ, have made me feel much better.

accessorizequeen · 31/05/2006 16:31

glad to reassure, lennied, I remember how anxious I was with ds.
Don't think we thought to give ds a name until after 1st scan, then it was Davros Grin. Bump is Hercule (after Poirot...big obsession with dp).

how's the sickness debbsy? saw on another thread you had it bad, a friend due same time has hyperemesis and she's finding it hard to cope.

must go back to collapse on sofa before ds drags me up to play again. no nap today, sigh (him or me!).

cupcakes · 31/05/2006 19:03

don't worry about bonding whilst pg. It's nice if you do but I don't think it's necessarily the norm. I didn't really bond with ds (my first) till he was many weeks old.Sad

lennied · 01/06/2006 13:40

OMG!! I actually look pregnant!!!! Grin

Went out for dinner last night at our fav restaurant and lady who runs it said 'Ohhh, you're pregnant' as I came through the door. Think it was in response to the fact we haven't been for a couple of months when usually there every couple of weeks. Had been examining tummy yesterday after DH started laughing that I wasn't going to get away with it at work on Monday after a week off. If I wear my normal tops (instead of the v baggy ones I've been in recently) there is a definate bump. It's obvious I haven't just been overeating as it is all low down and just goes out and then back in again - not like a fat tummy. Am not going to get away with it - only 11 weeks tho, wanted to wait until my 13 week scan before I told anyone. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Am actually really happy though, was so sick of looking fat. Think I am going to have spend all day glued to my seat so no-one sees me stood up! He he he, I have a bump!! Grin Oh b**ger I have a bump!!! Shock

cupcakes · 01/06/2006 13:44

I am 11 weeks today and I definitely have a bump. My new way of announcing it is just to stand standways on and say 'ahem'.Grin
This is our third and we've already had two people ask if it was planned. Shock At least I already have one boy and one girl so I won't get the 'oh, are you hoping for a boy/girl' questions.

Devongirl · 01/06/2006 13:54

I bought my first pair of maternity trousers yesterday for a wedding I am going to and they make me look about 6 months pregnant, it was very funny. Am going to have to get a nice jazzy top to distract people!

At work I am wearing a jumper on the hottest day of the year so far because without it it is totally obvious and I am not ready to tell them yet! Blush This is me being hot not blushing!

accessorizequeen · 01/06/2006 19:38

Hooray for bumps Smile Noticed I had one yesterday, getting really sticky-outy underneath the bust, not lower down which is just squidgy still. If I try to hold my stomach in, it hurts like anything the next day! I don't want anyone to guess yet, so using necklaces and scarves to distract. TBH, don't think most people look past the enormous boobs yet, it'll be a while before bump sticks out more than they do...
Got out the maternity clothes from garage, they seem so horrible and ugly I must buy some new ones soon. Tried Asda, Red Herring and Dorothy Perkins a few weeks ago, but all disgusting.

Olihan · 01/06/2006 20:20

My bump's popped out today too!! Must be the sun Smile. I actually got on the scales this morning thinking I'd been overdoing the chocolate but I haven't put on anything so it must be the baby. Luckily I have a (lot) of leftover tummy from ds and dd so I don't think anyone else will notice yet!!
AQ, also got out all my old maternity clothes to wash and they are VILE, VILE. I will look like a tramp if I spend another 6 months wearing them!
Has anyone else seen that M&S and New Look now do maternity stuff? The choices are gradually widening.
Has anyone else found that their symptoms have become a lot worse around 9 - 10 weeks? I thought I'd escaped really lightly again with nausea and tiredness but it hit last week (9wks)in a HUGE way as did the mood swings. I can't really remember this point of my other pregnancies and if the same thing happened.

Cupcakes - are you starting to feel more positive about this pg as you get further through? I've thought about you a lot over the last few weeks and I'm so pleased it all seems to be going okay for you.

accessorizequeen · 01/06/2006 22:20

Only just found M&S, they had some good stuff on the website but I'd rather get to the shop. Will have a look in New Look, I don't really go there normally. Top Shop do a range, I think.

Scan tomorrow, bit nervous and excited too.

cupcakes · 02/06/2006 09:12

thanks Olihan. I am feeling better most days now - this bump helps it seem more established. Still get a bit of brown discharge but I'm being reassured by the two good scans I've had.

I went into our (really quite large) M&S and they don't stock maternity so I may wait for the sale and order off the website when I do my sale shopping (I like to stock up on children's pants and school uniform).

dublindee · 02/06/2006 10:20

Hi everyone! Finally got my EDD confirmed yesterday at dating scan and am due 10th December-ish so I'm joining this thread - like it or not! Grin

lennied · 02/06/2006 14:04

Hi everyone,

Good luck for the scan AQ - you lucky thing. Hope it all goes ok. And welcome to Dublindee.

I have bought a pair of maternity trousers for work on Monday. They are lovely, so comfortable compared to my 'normal' clothes. But all the tops were repulsive!! Luckily still fit in most of my tops, they just ride up a bit at the front, but AM NOT wearing any of those maternity frumpy ones! Ha ha, watch me change my tune in a few months when nothing else fits! Everthing had ridulous flounces and frills and hideous bows and scalloped sleeves. Do they think we have no taste? On the plus side, H & M had some nice things. Just regular tops with belly bits, and cheap too. But all too big for me still - although bought a couple of bits. He he, am so excited about this bump business. Won't last, give me a few weeks and I will be fed up with dressing the bump. Feel like we are all turning a corner now though Smile

cupcakes · 02/06/2006 14:12

I'm wearing Gap maternity jeans today and they are wonderful and gorgeous. But I know I'll want to burn even these in 6 months!

Devongirl · 02/06/2006 14:27

Check out www.dorothyperkins.co.uk maternity section - and have a look at the picture of the only dress they do. I creased up when I saw this, you might as well just wrap yourself up in a big duvet, it's got to be about as flattering! It's worth a look!

I will be going shopping for a few bits tomorrow so H&H here I come! Thanks for the tip lennied

SRM · 02/06/2006 15:01

Still feeling so sick - am going to try the preggie pops. This week I've also had pleurisy so have had to spend last 4 days in bed, given it it half term has been tricky! Blooming Marvellous and JoJo Maman Bebe do maternity clothes - in fact don't mumsnetters get 10% off JMB?? Don't know what they're like as still in denial about bump which is showing signs of emerging.........

magnolia1 · 02/06/2006 15:16

I am now in my cropped trousers which are draw string althouhg I am waering them without the string being tied at all Blush

But I am buggered if it rains coz I have no full length trousers left Sad

Exciting news for the day, I have just rented a doppler, it should arrive early next week. Grin

lennied · 02/06/2006 17:45

My preggie pops arrived this morning and can recommend them (thanks calsworld and AQ for the tip on motherbliss.com) - here in 2 days and they take the edge off the nausea. Although I haven't been feeling quite as bad the last couple of days so don't know what they are like with full on sickness. Have you tried seasickness bands? They really help me, and I notice the difference almost as soon as I put them on/take them off.

Hope everyone is ok Smile

xx

accessorizequeen · 02/06/2006 20:01

SDM, pleurisy sounds horrible on top of everything else. Never had preggie pops, but they sound good, perhaps should buy some for my friend who's nauseous 24/7 still. Bought some stuff from JoJo last time, I think & quite good quality but can't see anything on the site I like this time round (tho possibly coz I'm big girl). I'm getting frustrated, feel so frumpy, boobs huge. But end of gripe, scan was lovely, Hercule (codename) was real little wriggler & unlike last time I could really see the limbs & he/she seemed like a baby. And EDD only a day out so I'm just on 12 weeks. But I still managed to drink too much (had a litre) and had to go to the toilet twice before they could carry on! Does everyone else have their scan booked now or are you still waiting?
devongirl, see what you mean about dress! Stuff in dp shop was horrible, although I was wearing a dp top today from last pg and it's v.nice so I won't give up on them. Going to look again at Isabella Oliver now. Debbsy, bought prune juice today, I shall have a glass now & try it out!

jabberwocky · 02/06/2006 20:16

Do you have Target in the UK? They have great maternity clothes.

I got out a pair of maternity pants from last pregnancy a couple of days ago and they did feel nice. Still just looking more chunky than pg, though.

accessorizequeen · 02/06/2006 20:41

Nope, no Target. Are you in US or Oz, Jabberwocky? By all accounts (I mean mumsnet) Isabella Oliver worth the cash. Don't mind paying a big extra for a few nice things like black trousers & pair of jeans. anyone else have weddings etc to attend? Just worked out I'll be 24 weeks for friends' wedding & can't find a thing.

jabberwocky · 02/06/2006 22:34

I'm in the US. I'm thinking I need to do some serious shopping. It was really difficult to find something to wear to work today.
