Hello Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lunavix · 26/03/2006 21:24

Hi everyone!

I was terribly swollen with ds (I mean everything) although I can't remember when it started.

Ironically doctor said it was my fault! My pregnancy craving was fruit, so for 6 months I ate ENTIRELY fruit thinking sure it's healthy. And I mean BAGS of satsumas, BUNCHES of bananas....

And it turns out these make fluid retention a hell of a lot worse. My doctor advised me to try a diet of chips and crisps but I declined :)

Arabica · 26/03/2006 22:39

Well, I think things work the other way around for me. I eat loads of fruit normally but because I've been so stressed for the past week, it's been chocolate, crisps and chips all the way--loads of salt and loads of puffiness. Tomorrow I am back on the healthy stuff.

wot crap people come out with pleas some one help

Nbg · 27/03/2006 10:35

Jayjay
I was laying in bed this morning feeling baby kick and actually thought to myself, I must make a note in case there is a 3rd thime round Shock that it's only now at 20 weeks I'm really feeling anything that I can call definate kicks.
Before I wasn't so sure if it was wind or kicks but it's definate kicks now.

If I'm busy I don't notice them at all, it's only when I'm sat doing nothing that I can tell.

I really really wouldn't worry. I know your nearly 19 weeks but alot can happen in a few days. Try lying down for a while, don't put your hand on your stomach though and just wait. I'm sure you'll feel something eventually Smile

3 and a half hours till my scan Grin

jayjaybaby · 27/03/2006 12:20

good luck nbg thank you for your reassurance

Eve2005 · 27/03/2006 12:44

jay jay, my cousins wife had 3 kids in quick succession and she didn't feel any of them til 22 weeks! everyone is differant and alot depends on how sensitive your uterus actually is, i feel mine very early but i also feel every little twinge of my uterus stretching, whereas she doesn't feel the babies much but she also had never had a single stretching pain and has lovely pain free labours!

jayjaybaby · 27/03/2006 12:51

eve i'm probably just being silly but it's unnerving me abit

Eve2005 · 27/03/2006 12:54

nbg, no idea whether i get more scans as last time i had four but of those four 1 was to confirm preg, 1 was normal booking in scan at 17 weeks, 1 was to check for spina bifida coz of family hist and 1 was to check low lying placenta had moved at 36 weeks. this time the second two were rolled into one due to late booking in and i don't need the other two so i have no idea whether i'll have to wait til aug to see baby again Sad

in foul mood today as dp drove his sister to hospital in dublin last night (she had to be there for 8 in morning) and he's just rung to say he took a wrong turn and couldn't u-turn on motorway so he's halfway down the country and is almost out of petrol so he's going to his parents house to get some sleep and borrow some petrol money, i've got to haul dd on the bus to her developmental checkup now and lord knows when he'll be home. sounds silly to complain about it but he always manages to do these things. every time he goes away for a night to anywhere something happens to him (never his fault of course) and he gets stuck away for days longer than he should.

Eve2005 · 27/03/2006 12:58

don't let it worry you too much jay jay, by the time july and aug roll round you'll be begging for it to stop! if your really concerned go to your midwife and have her listen to the heartbeat but i honestly doubt theres anything wrong, i've been feeling baby for weeks but if i don't get the chance to sit down all day or amn't sitting right i barely feel him at all. when i was at the scan he was doing backflips and i could barely feel a thing!

jayjaybaby · 27/03/2006 13:29

i didnt realise you were in ireland do you feel much better for having your scan at last did you find out the sex eve

olivo · 27/03/2006 13:42

jayjaybaby - i'm 18+4 and havent really had anything - just one little popping on Saturday that i hadnt felt before - various people have reassured me that when its your first (mine too!), its not unusual to still feel nothing by 18 or 19 weeks. Can't wait to get a bloody good thump myself.
Don't forget to let us know when you do feel him/her!

how did it go nbg?

Arabica · 27/03/2006 14:44

JayJay, please try not to worry (although I am the world's greatest worrier), with DS I really didn't feel anything at all until 20wks and even now at nearly 22wks I only feel occasional movements and have only felt baby kick three or four times. If in doubt ring the midwives and they will reassure you/ask you in so they can listen to the heartbeat.
Am feeling good today, went out to buy baked beans and came back with a pair of jeans and 2 tops for DS, new knickers, a top to wear in the gym and a raspberry pink trenchcoat!

jayjaybaby · 27/03/2006 14:54

loving the raspberry pink coat where did you find one ?
im obssed wth pink at the mo

Arabica · 27/03/2006 14:58

pucca · 27/03/2006 15:01

Hi everyone, hope everyone ok? Smile

I have my results from the alpha blood test (spina bifida and downs test) and it is very low risk...1 in 3100 chance, with my dd it was 1 in 1800.

I have my scan on Fri and will defo be asking the sex Grin cant wait lol.

jayjaybaby · 27/03/2006 15:04

good news pucca arabica i assume your gonna wear it open for the time being

BigHotMama · 27/03/2006 15:11

Hiya ladies, I must be having a boy then, as my wardrobe is turning into different shades of blue? ShockToday, I'm wearing blue linen trousers & blue n green stripey top, and come to think of it most my mat clothes are either blue or brown!
Hope your all ok, feeling great at mo. Stretching pains have gone from yesterday, for a minute I thought they might have been Braxton Hicks LOL, I'm sure they will be bit more painful when those come around.
JayJay, I'm sure you'll be getting loads of movement really soon, just be patient, I know its hard when you hear everyone else saying they're are getting kicks etc, when you got your scan?

BigHotMama · 27/03/2006 15:15

Crossed posts there Pucca, fantastic results, bet your well chuffed! Good luck for the scan too! Grin

Arabica · 27/03/2006 15:17

Excellent news Pucca!
JayJay, I bought the biggest size so I can do it up! It's an 18-20 Shock

PiccadillyCircus · 27/03/2006 15:23

Arabica - so pleased to hear that your results were good Smile (lurking September 05 Mummy again).

DD is 6 months old now and apart from today when she is not well Sad she is a very happy smily little girl.

PiccadillyCircus · 27/03/2006 15:31

And I am feeling really tempted by the trenchcoat you linked to....

(hijack over now)

olivo · 27/03/2006 17:02

Arabica -i too have a raspberry pink trenchcoat - its a maternity one that a friend of mine passed on to me. thought if I wore it in the playground, it might remind all my pupils that there is a teacher there - they keep mistaking me for a kid in my trusty black winter coatGrin

good news on your results pucca.

Nbg · 27/03/2006 18:46

Well I was right!

IT'S A BOY Grin
Everythings fine and dandy, no problems.
Thought I'd got a bit of a snotty sonographer as she had a bit of a go at dh for turning his chair round Shock but then explained that she would do all her checks and then turn the monitor round for us to look.
We asked to find out the sex and she said "I might be able to tell you what sex it is"!!!
Anyway after 2 mins she said I think your having a boy (this next bit gets better...)
she then turned the screen round and started to explain all the body parts (as they do) and said "here's the spine and his todger, here's his foot and his todger, here's his hand and his todger"!!! PMSL by this point.
So it's fair to say it's a boy, lol!

Dh is very proud Grin
Doesn't help that the pictures she gave us, he has his legs in the air and they look like one great big todger, lol!

Paid for 3 pics (the most you can get) and we ended up with 7!
Really good ones too.

So dh and I will be trawling through some names tonight.

Excellent news on the results Pucca!
