GT where is baby sleeping and napping? Where will you put baby when not eating or sleeping? What will you change baby on?

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 21:58

Has the pushchair got a raincover etc? What will you carry nappies and spare clothes in? Has pushchair got a coccoon bit as it will be cold when baby comes? Will baby need a snow suit or coat?

horseylady · 15/09/2012 21:59

I've got nursery furniture, basket stand (both donated) nappies, monitor, bedding and grow bags a small number of vests and sleep suits etc. Toiletry box, wipes, I have bought bottles, steriliser and soothers then pram and car seat. I've not bought a base I'll see how much it annoys me. I'm put off as you only use it for a few months then you need to get a bigger one so will see. Oh bibs and muslin squares!! Mum has bought some outfits etc.

Today I learnt positions to labour in. I was also advised to massage my perineum as a horse rider I'm more at risk of tearing because of the muscle?! I should also tell the mw in case they need to cut me!! Great!! Good class though, feeling happier about everything now. For the time being lol!!

Passmethecrisps · 15/09/2012 21:59

Are you feeling better GT? Has your DH chilled out any?

I think your purchases sound fine. We have got the big items - cot bed and mattress, pram (on order), car seat and base Moses basket and stand, pack of disposable newborn nappies, lots of wipes, 10 little lamb reusable nappies, steriliser starter kit and breast pump and a bunch of second hand newborn/1 to 3 month vests and stuff. I want some muslins, snuggle towel things and a footmuff for the car seat. I don't think we are getting a bath or a monitor initially.

horseylady · 15/09/2012 22:01

Also changing bag (thanks vq!!) and mat, I want to get another one. He's got an outside suit thing which mum bought again, socks and a hat. He has loads, but it doesn't seen loads?! I wrote a list!!!

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/09/2012 22:04

Evening everyone.

DS's party was a success although he isn't at all well again so didn't eat anything, poor lamb was finally well when he went into hospital for his op and has obviously caught some infection whilst in there Angry but he went off happily to spend the afternoon with his Dad after the party.

I am fine, got about of a headache/blurry eye in the party hall so had what I intended to be an hours nap (turned into 4 hours!) when I got in.
Then we went to see The Watch at the cinema which was really funny.

I haven't brought any bottles/ steriliser or pump. I'll probably get one when he is arrived and a couple weeks old, if bfing doesn't go to plan there is a Tesco and Sainsburys all within 10 minutes away so no biggie.

Passmethecrisps · 15/09/2012 22:05

Right, tell me horsey; what do you massage it with?

VQ you always think of things I don't.

My pram comes with a rain cover
We have a changing mat (will maybe get a cot top changer or use the floor)
We were given snowsuits
We were given a swing for chilling in/snoozing

Other than stuff like breast pads and maternity pads, do you think we are about good to go?

Passmethecrisps · 15/09/2012 22:08

Sorry your wee boy isn't well tits. Sounds like your party was a big success though.

Just remembered, I have no changing bag.

horseylady · 15/09/2012 22:11

Pass I have no idea!!!! I don't even think I'm totally sure where it is??!!

Anyway I was told to read up about it.......

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 22:12

An I love daddy bib or gro, and one for grandma too. Makes for good relations!

Little scissors for little nails. I do not rate the snot remover things. A good thermometer is essential. I recommend one that goes in the ear. Infacol. If you buy it you will not need it. If you don't buy it you will. I have proved this. Pillows for feeding are nice but not essential.

MissMummy1 · 15/09/2012 22:14

We have cot bed (my dad is buying a mattress 'at some point'), moses basket and stand, lots of bedding (mamas and papas hodge podge range), furniture for nursery, loads of disposable nappies, 2x changing mats (one for upstairs/downstairs), baby bath, pram/pushchair (mothercare my3 - going to buy pram mattress to make a bit comfier if baby sleeps in it during the day although not essential), red maxicosi cabriofix car seat (putting off getting a base just now), 6 closer to nature bottles and breast pump, boots parenting club changing bag (going to buy a bigger, nicer one to use everyday and let freeby one be a dadbag/kept in car), some mixed baby clothes courtesy of yw's lovely sister, newborn and 0-3month vests and sleepsuits, muslins, grobags, swaddling blankets, about 5 various other blankets, some knitted woolies from my gran... We have a few other bits and pieces and writing it all down here makes me realise we don't have much else to get! MIL sending over vouchers at some point so will get base then if we need it and a smaller, lightweight pushchair to use on trains and for grandparents to use - as fab as the my3 is, it's quite big and bulky!

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 22:15

It is the bit between your vagina and your anus. Not nice when you have it cut or ripped. Fun to massage it though. Get DH to do it.

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 22:22

I have a five foot tall stork to hold the drapes for the cot. My beatrix potter drapes now vintage. It is designer don't you know. Bet nobody else has a five foot stork! Essential in my opinion.

horseylady · 15/09/2012 22:23

Baby oil or olive oil? To be honest I'd not heard of massaging it before now but they said it will incredibly toned.....I do not really want cutting but guess it's better than tearing??!! To be honest it's pretty horrifying however we have a talk about it in more detail a week on wed. I'll look forward to that!!!

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 22:23

It can also double as a clothes rail.

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 22:25

I will never forget the crunchy sound of the episiotomy.

Passmethecrisps · 15/09/2012 22:28

Doh VQ, I knew I had forgotten something! Must add 5ft stork to my list.

TheDetective · 15/09/2012 22:33

I went to work at 7am. Just got home. I did not intend to just get home now... I made one toilet trip (5pm) and ate 4 celebrations at 730pm. I hadn't had breakfast and so I'm currently stuffing my face for first time in over 24 hours.

This is not good at 33 weeks pregnant :( and I've got to go back in tomorrow. And for 4 nights from monday. Also agreed to 3 weeks of extra shifts which take me up to 37 weeks.

I'm going to bed before I fall over.

ValiumQueen · 15/09/2012 22:35

It is so obvious, that is why I did not mention it before. I remember when I got it out of storage for DD2, and I heard a blood curdling scream from DD1 who bumped into it on the landing the next morning. DH calls it 'that fucking thing'. Clearly no taste. Will be a family heirloom.

GTbaby · 15/09/2012 23:16

Pass I am talking to H but he is still a dick. I just can't be bothered to not talk to him. He just cAlled to say good night from his night shift, which means he is making an effort.

We have been given a crib n cot bed. N I got 3 travel changing mats. Do I need one of those big padded ones?

I was given a mouth thermometer but want one which u put on head. So going to exchange.

Oh n was given nail clippers n scissors.

Wana try the massage as well. So let me know what kind of oil u r all recommended

Titsalinabumsquash · 16/09/2012 02:26

I can't sleep, I've been throwing up since 8, can't even keep water down. My stomach hurts really bad. Sad

Iheartpasties · 16/09/2012 05:59

tits - r u ok?

StuntNun · 16/09/2012 06:42

NEW THREAD ALERT www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1565312-November-2012-but-thats-the-month-after-next but don't forget to use this one up first!

I looked up a few papers on perineal massage and it's only been proven effective in first time mothers so I'll be giving it a miss.

Tits I hope you got back to sleep and are feeling a bit better.

I went into Mothercare yesterday to buy a change mat as I forgot to get one with my big order from them as their stoopid website deleted my basket before I could place the order. They only had one design, with a giraffe on it. It wasn't a particularly bad change mat but I was so annoyed at the lack of choice that I didn't buy it! Must call in to Babies'R'Us and see if they have anything different.

7 and a bit weeks for me...

Iheartpasties · 16/09/2012 07:06

Oh lord - I hate rowing with my DH but every now and then I just burst. Not that often actually, but I just let rip! His communication skills need working on!! (obviously I am perfect so thats great!!!!). If I ask him to do something he always has a come back, reason why he cant or it's 'in a minute' annoys the crap out of me!!! I hate asking more than once coz I hate feeling like I'm a big nag, but if I dont ask nothing will get done. He just told me he had every intention of going and doing what I asked, but I said 'I'm not a mind reader! and if you dont say anything to me about it I presume you're not going to do it!!'. Argh! He just eye rolled at me louds and annoyed me even more.

I have just hand washed my free fabric and have hung it out. I have big plans for it already!! haha. It might be mad but I am going to make a hanging storage thingy for dd, Lots of pockts to put books etc, and I shall hang it off an old clothing rail I have. I hope it works. Maybe - we'll see. It will be this weeks project :)

We have had two days in a ror of shopping! Poor dh no wonder he is annoyed with me. But guess what - its his baby too so he should have to help with teh shopping. I was in pain from pushing the pram, throbbing bits, achey back and heavy bump, he doesnt understand that I needed him to push the trolley. Anyway I am half way there now, and half way happy!!!

sorry - just had to get that off my chest!! :)
