haitch .. I had acupuncture with ds2. I am not really into holistic treatments but a friend sore by it, and to e fair I do think it mad a difference. I hope ou are ok this evening.

pink .. The DVD sounds great!

lexi .. Food bins are awful in this kind of weather. In Bristol, outside bins are only done every 2 weeks so poo nappies honk after sitting in there for 14 days. Whiff!

My craving is coleslaw on toast. Gorgeous! DH is Hmm at me.

tedmundo · 18/08/2012 21:20

Stoopid iPad typos. Sorry.

lannyshrops · 18/08/2012 21:27

Oh I feel for you all struggling with the heat! It's not too bad in Shropshire at all, you can all come and stay with me if you like, I'll get the DH to make endless cheese toasties (with or without marmite) bring endless supplies of peanuts, hummus, crudites (?sp) and ...erm ... More cheese??!! Oh, washed down with ginger tea! (If I hear one more well meaning person suggesting that or anything remotely related to ginger biscuits I will not be responsible for the fury that my pregnancy hormones will release!)

confuddledDOTcom · 18/08/2012 21:49

All's quiet so I'm going to do a bit of catching up. I had what looked like a show today, I've been very crampy for a few weeks so hoping it's nothing. I have had it quite regularly in the past, normally surrounding sex but my husband is working abroad since Tuesday so it's not sex. Hoping things stay quiet until Tuesday when I pass the 12 week mark and can go to triage rather than A&E and I have my first proper appointment on Wednesday.

tiddleypompom · 18/08/2012 22:42

possom have a poo.

lanny where in Shropshire? I am there too, close to Ludlow.

Zzzzzzzzz

confuddledDOTcom · 18/08/2012 23:43

ATourchOfInsanity - I was wondering what your ID would be, rather appropriate after last time, eh?

Tramp, I?m trying to find a book link that you might like, it?s a honest look at foods to avoid. I was reading the preview saying ?Yes!? every few seconds Grin

HaitchJay you have my sympathy, I?m suffering at the moment too. I?m back on the co-dydramol, I think I?m going to have to start behaving myself and take them properly. The midwife came around today and commented on how I was walking - I stay unaided in the house unless it gets bad as I can always stop and sit down if I need to.

I?m another going to need more maternity clothes, I didn?t get a lot last time and my jeans are getting a little worn. I actually like wearing them when I?m not pregnant because the jeans don?t press into my post section belly and tops are great for breastfeeding under. Mum went out and brought me some tops yesterday, she got loads from New Look that were £4 or £6 each. I?m wearing a lovely jumper right now, just what I needed! I always feel a little weird buying maternity clothes because I don?t go far I wonder if there?s much point. I?m in just as desperate need for nursing bras, I didn?t get any after #3 was born, half of the ones I had seem to have vanished and the ones I have left are from #1 who?s 6 and getting tatty!

My appetite is driving me mad. I?m hungry but there?s also something wrong with my tummy at the moment, we?re thinking h-pylori or IBS. Every time I eat I swell up and it puts pressure on my stomach so I can?t eat anymore, I?d lost a stone from April (when it started) until I got pregnant because I can?t eat well. If you?ve had babies before you?ll understand what I mean when I say it feels like I have a foot in my stomach.

Finished catching up, had to stop to go on a co-dydramol hunt, frustratingly all I could find for awhile was baby aspirin! Like half an aspirin will take the pain away Confused Is anyone else on anti-coagulation? (that?s Jr Aspirin and Clexane)

theTramp · 18/08/2012 23:55

Confud - I have "What to eat when you're pregnant" by dr rana Conway. I think it's quite good. V no nonsense.

Today I've been starving marvin & eaten enough for 6, never mind 2!

confuddledDOTcom · 19/08/2012 00:44

The one I'm thinking of is The Panic Free Pregnancy. It goes over everything they tell you you can or can't do. It's quite NA as they're very prescriptive over there but it's good where ever you are I think.

I've just added myself to the stats list. Quite a few other Brummies I noticed!

ATourchOfInsanity · 19/08/2012 01:30

Oh thank you pink - will have a squiz and see if we can do a trip to it when I am in London next weekend (baby trip with old school friend to Zoo - yay!).

Confuddled, yes, I thought quite appropriate Wink so far no signs of the crazy... Touching wood!

I got a lot of things on ebay in bundles last pg, pretty cheap but there are always a few duds so don't pay over the odds. This time I have treated myself to a stretchy dress from Top Shop and a 3/4 sleeve jumper (I know, just before all of the heat hit, typical!). Nice to have a couple of new items. I did also find that most empire line stretchy tops in a size or two bigger, if snaffled in the sales, would usually work. I like the H&M "dresses" as they actually are long enough to be a maternity top and at £5 each in the sale I have a couple of those waiting for later months here too!

You all have me craving everything now. I have been making peanut butter, banana and honey toasted sandwiches for breakfast for me and DD. She seems happy enough with my craving of choice Smile Also now really want an avocado with vinegar...oh and maybe peanut brittle ice cream...or perhaps some of my DD's Baby bells... Oh dear. 1:30am munchies time it is. Catch up soon all.

ATourchOfInsanity · 19/08/2012 01:37

Confuddled I just did the stats too and we are due on the same bloomin' day! Have 12wk scan end of Aug so may change but who would have thunk it when we both "came out" on the FB page?! Hahaha. Must have been around the wedding night for you then? Wink
Thought I should also mention the new name was actually born from the Olympic tourch procession here, everyone went mental for the day and it only lasted 10 seconds... but it works either way IMO.

Sheldonella · 19/08/2012 07:45

I have given up trying to sleep, it is just impossible in the heat. Also I need to wee every hour at least. I have been away to visit my parents and show them the scan pictures which was lovely. We also looked at prams online and just generally got very excited :)

I've had to tell some friends now as they invited DH & I to visit and this usually involves travel, late nights and lots of drinking. I thought it would be easier if they knew so didn't just think I was being a bad friend. I haven't seen much of them this year because of the mc but I have just had to rest and do now too.

On the subject of maternity clothes - I'm getting desperate. I did buy a lovely maternity dress from Gap for £15 in the sale which is great. I'm looking for a denim skirt but I can't find one anywhere that is not very short. I want something that comes to the knee because I'm tall and the minis look awful on me. If anyone sees one, let me know :)

Em Love your foodie post, and a love food! I can't get enough cheese like pink DH says cravings will not surprise him because I have cravings all the time anyway. To be fair, he is right about this :) tiddley The stilton news is good isn't it. Cannot do without Stilton at xmas.

I'm torn now whether to go out in search of clothes today or just relax and make a huge roast dinner, complete with dessert. I've decided it is time for roast chicken, I don't care about the heat. Have a great day everyone!

Em2010 · 19/08/2012 09:10

Morning!

Well according to my last scan I am 12 weeks today! Except I don't think I can be, so I won't break out the ticker tape until Tuesday - or actually until ive had my next scan!

tramp thanks for the Tuna and avocado recipe suggestion, sounds delicious!! Will definitely try that.

Am going to try and find a healthy muffin recipe today so I have something healthy to snack on at work and ds can stop eating chocolate!!! (no idea where he gets that from!)

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering in the heat. I definitely find the stuffiness makes me feel a bit sick. Probably the only advantage of a summer baby is a winter first trimester!

Maternity clothes- i didn't buy many last time, so many people said not to but actually my view is that pregnancy can make you feel quite down anyway so it's a brilliant time to have a few nice clothes that actually fit properly!! I've just bought an eBay bundle of seraphine, Isabella Oliver and gap clothes- lots to wear in the winter now!

haitch really sorry to hear about the spd, hope you're not in too much pain today.

Right, I think I'd better go and seperate ds from the tv. Had a terrible night with him. Nearly all my fault though. Lessons have been learned!!

JoJoBella84 · 19/08/2012 09:44

I've just made my first maternity eBay purchases. I feel better just knowing I have some stuff on the way!!
Nausea free this morning, yesterday was a rubbish day so I'm grateful that I can drink tea and eat a crumpet!!
Another full day of revision ahead of me :( boooo!

Hope you all have happy days :) I'm 14 weeks today :) whoop! Does this mean second trimester?!

mandasand · 19/08/2012 10:03

thanks, tiddles, yes - it is a major deal for my family, esp. after finding out about the termination-that-went-wrong all those years ago, and my mum's history of MC and such. We're not exactly one of those couples who get 'so when are we going to hear the patter of tiny feet' from my parents, at least! I swear I have never seen them so elated so this pregnancy better go well! I kept saying, well it's still early days etc, but my dad's having none of it. He's already bought them matching MCFC strips in his head! They are already on their way back up north. Been a lovely if brief weekend Smile

Don't worry too much about cysts, JoJo and Tiddles. Google is both helpful and terrifying isn't it?! The only detailed things I an find about potassium deficiency is about women who are hospitalised because their body doesn't respond to supplements in tablet form, so they have to have it on a drip! Eeeek. Sometimes we just need to step away from the Google.

Good luck with revision today, JoJo. If it helps I'm about to start a good stint of hours at the desk. Feels so wrong when weather so nice! Much better when it was thundering and lightning the other day.

Confuddled fingers tightly crossed that the bleeding is nothing to worry about. We are EDD buddies: I'm 12 weeks on Tuesday, too! Maybe Em too if your dates are right?

Pink your DVD sounds fabulous! What a great idea!

Flowery I'm with you on the afternoon naps and early nights etc! We all went to bed at 10.15 last night - unheard of! We had been out in the sun all day though which is extra exhausting. Had such fun at the allotment festival. Really brilliant. Told our lottie neighbours too which was fun. Lots of old codgers telling me to look after myself and no doubt feeling a bit daunted about the idea of two screaming babies disturbing their peace and quiet!

12+4 scan in less than a week - excited and a bit nervous. More so than the first scan because then I didn't really believe I was pregnant, and now we're soooo invested in it!

Have developed a funny little pot belly over the past few days. It's even there in the mornings! Must be pregnant then ? !

JoJoBella84 · 19/08/2012 10:18

Manda I fully intend to revise out in the park today, I don't need to use my laptop so I can just make notes from my text books!!
And type them up this evening when it's raining!!!
Have a full day of buddying up for the practical aspect tomorrow so at least I'm getting some hands on stuff done too!!!
Cannot wait until its done! Roll on Thursday afternoon!

randomswitch · 19/08/2012 10:23

Glad to hear that other people are eating like a bastard too!!!! I must be eating at least, AT LEAST, 30 to 50 percent more than normal. And I'm only ten weeks! The official medical line that you don't need any more calories in the first trimester is nonsense! Actually I had a friend who stuck rigidly to the rule of no more than 200 extra calories a day in trimester two and three and she ended up with a very low birth weight baby...... I'm going to be listening to my body on this one, not a medic. Think we have evolved hunger as a very effective signal of when one needs to eat....

theTramp · 19/08/2012 10:23

Aww, loving the funny little pit belly chat and excitement generally.

We told my parents, with big caveat about scan Monday and could yet go wrong. I was a bit mean. Told them we'd decided to invest in another project an would they like to consider investing too? Showed them the spec (5 week scan). Tears from my Mum as she stared & it dawned on her. My Dad had no idea at all what it was :) anyway much excitement about project Socrates and all being well we're looking forward to telling MrMs mum in Sept.

pipsicles · 19/08/2012 10:34

JoJo you are definitely in your 2nd trimester now! Envy

Haitch sorry to hear about your SPD. I can't imagine how it must feel or how you go about coping with it :( I hope you find some relief some how or another - maybe try a range of different 'therapies' to see what suits you - even cranial osteopathy is supposed to be quite effective.

I'm not sure how I feel about all the food talk. I thought I had ms yesterday, but by 1pm yesterday afternoon I was not keeping anything down and felt like death! By midnight, I was okay(ish) and DH and MiL had their heads down the toilet too! Definitely a bug. I'm desperately hoping that DS will get away with not having it! I've had a slice of dried toast this morning, and just about managed to keep that down, so fingers crossed I'm on the mend now. I'd love to eat all owe lovely things you've been talking about, but should steer clear a little longer methinks!

I agree with you Em that it is important to have some clothes that you feel good in. Pregnancy is supposed to be a magical, special time, and if you spend it in clothes that put pressure on your bump and make your belly itch, it does rather take away some of the enjoyment! Plus, you don't want to stretch some of your own favourites and not be able to wear them again afterwards! eBay and the sales will be my way forward this time. I'm desperate for clothes that are not black or grey this time - I was a bit depressed to see the lack of colour in my wardrobe from last time!

It's not that hot here (near Liverpool), but would have been if we were at home (Surrey) so I'm feeling pretty lucky right now, esp as I've been so sick! You can come and visit me here if you're suffering!

Must go and get dressed - DH is wanting to get out to the shops and looking at me disapprovingly!

Have a good Sunday.

randomswitch · 19/08/2012 10:39

DH has just requested that I ask if anyone else has had a pregnancy sympton like this one. That is, abstract non food related things making you feel sick? For example looking at a book that I was reading when had ms makes me feel sick. Actually , haven't been on mumsnet for ages as the thought of mumsnet made me feel sick too. I think my brain has made bizarre associations between what I was doing when I felt sick and that making me feel sick.

JOJO good luck in your exam on thurs.
MANDA I've got a pot belly too, well a bigger one than normal!
A little jealous of the sun and heat some of you seem to have. It's not like that here in Scotland!

mandasand · 19/08/2012 10:51

JoJo that sounds like the best possible kind of revision day!

And tramp - what an ace way of telling your parents! Wish we had been more inventive, hehe!

Random I haven't had that symptom, but I'm sure it's normal brain-association! The smell of things puts me off. The smell of brown bread is horrible to me this past week or two, but white bread and rye is fine. The bin smells, under the stairs smells, those bananas in the bowl over there which are about to go off ?. etc. But nooooo, the thought of MN doesn't make me feel sick! I guess it's not helpful when others are talking about sickness, is it?! Thankfully I've not vomited, but the feeling of nausea here and there and generally feeling off things and out of sorts is pretty strong enough for me!

backwardpossom · 19/08/2012 10:53

tiddley I would if I could!!

OP posts:
KFFOREVER · 19/08/2012 10:57

Good morning everyone!

Happy Eid to any muslim mumsnetters (not sure if there are any). Off to spend time with the family im dreading the heat though.

random- I can relate to this. I can no longer read a book because the smell of the pages makes me feel sick. A work colleague told me she could no longer wear her gold watch which she loved before she got pregnant. Being pregnant is hard work!

JoJoBella84 · 19/08/2012 11:06

Oh good grief... Could someone please explain to me why my size 14 jeans had to be fastened with a bobble yesterday. But today my 3/4 length skinny size 12's fit perfectly and make me feel slimmer than I have done in days!!!
I can't help feeling I bought the maternity stuff a couple of weeks too early!! Ah well sod it, I like new clothes!!!

randomswitch · 19/08/2012 12:05

Trapped wind yesterday perhaps JoJo?! : )
Seriously, trapped wind and water retention I feel must be responsible for changes in my girth throughout the day.
I like new clothes too and have bought a summer maternity dress on eBay for our hols in sept. better safe than sorry I say!

Glad to here some others have strange sickness inducers!

JoJoBella84 · 19/08/2012 12:18

random the one thing I haven't suffered with at all so far is trapped wind or a slow digestion... I do burp a lot more!
Not sure on the water retention, could be that I suppose!!

My sense of smell is through the roof today, I've just had to bleach the kitchen in order to sit at the table and study!
Though oddly my lunch choice today is egg fried rice with pasta sauce. Hmm.
