ellliebelle · 14/08/2012 14:13

Just checked the 100 most popular lists and my names are both in the 50's

ellliebelle · 14/08/2012 14:13

Thanks willyou

HoneyMum21 · 14/08/2012 14:17

Phew, our name isn't in the crazy list either ;)

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 14:56

Our name isn't on it either, dd's is in the top 100, was only just the year before. I still don't know anyone with her exact name though, just the longer version which I don't like!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 14:59

You lot have to go on the 'Make Your Own' Christmas thread. It's got really good ideas and is making me soooo excited!!!

kate2boysandabump · 14/08/2012 15:34

I've missed loads while I've been busy, it's taken me ages to catch up!

It was DH's birthday at the weekend and we went swimming at a lido near home, which was fab and for the last 2 days the ds's have been away with my mum and dad, so I have had some time to myself. I've been swimming both mornings and have pottered around the shops, looking at all the lovely things that I want to buy when I hit 24 weeks (11 more days to go!)

I'm not sleeping very well either, not because I'm not comfy, but because I'm waking up thirsty, I woke 6 times before 1 in the morning yesterday Sad

Pidg My stomach is also usually my least favourite part of my body, but I'm OK with it this time. In my previous pregnancies, I was very self conscious of my bump and definitely 'draped' my bump in floaty tops and dresses, but I feel less like that this time and am dressing it very differently. People still aren't noticing it 'though, I can only assume my bump looks like I've had too many pies Hmm

I still haven't gained any weight, in fact still a 1lb down on pre-pregnancy, but as I'm not exactly tinkerbell, that's probably OK. The midwife isn't worried in the least, in fact she tells me about my BMI at every appointment. However, I am trying to be good, but the last 2 days I have been rubbish, good job I've been swimming really Blush

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 15:41

I have nappies! Total bargain off a mate of a mate on farcebook, i have a full stash of prefolds in two sizes! Now i need a dolly to practice on...

I find floaty makes me look chubby, while clingy makes me self concious. Dp insists I've looked unmistakeably pg for about 10 weeks, and my mum says I'm "nice and neat" (and she'd be the first to tell my to lay off the pies) now i just need to make myself believe it Hmm

kate2boysandabump · 14/08/2012 15:43

Floaty does make you look chubby, but I was too self conscious to realise it at the time. This time I'm embracing it Grin

utopian99 · 14/08/2012 16:27

I've been wearing looser tops, although not strictly floaty - now at 22 weeks I've decided I've had enough and it's clingy all the way! Only a small bump but it's on it's way and I think fitted maternity clothes actually make me look less like I've just had a serious attack of munchies.. Am slowly stocking up on vast amounts of IO clothing, which I love! (By way of ebay, which I can afford!!)

itsMYNutella · 14/08/2012 16:30

Well at the moment I have some floaty T-shirts because there are two shops here in Hannover and neither of them had many T-shirts Confused and the rest of the stuff is more in the "designer' price range (nicely tailored & fitted maternity clothes have been ordered from the UK).
But I do also have a great dress, black, easy to dress up or down and got a Wow from DP when I showed him :) I feel great in that dress too :o

Hi again everyone. Been AWOL for a few days, busy with work and getting a new kitchen fitted :)

I read all the discussions about money sharing with interest. DH and I have a couple of joint accounts, one specifically for mortgage which we pay equal into, then periodically empty the excess into a joint savings account. We have another joint account for bills/food etc which we both pay equal amounts into. Then we have individual accounts and ISAs. We did it this way when we bought the house together, to make sure there could be no contention over us both owning exactly half the house and half the savings. However we bought the house together after about a year of being together, so parents were a little worried. Now we're married things are much more 'ours' though neither of us have bothered to change from our separate accounts. DH earns almost twice what I do, and spends less, so has helped my top up my ISA to full this year as it's a better investment than putting it into joint savings.

I think when we have the baby, and I'm a SAHM I'm going to look at our accounts and change how we do things. I'll probably go the 'pocket money' route, but stick to one joint bills account. It's a good way of keeping track of our spending without keeping track (iyswim) we have £800 a month to cover food, bills, nights out together, vets and unexpected expenses etc. If we overspend the card rejects and we realise we need to cut back (and whoever it is pays with their own card). If money builds up in the account (which it often does) we empty it into savings again.

As for putting on weight - I've put on about 6.5kg, which DH says is about a stone. I think stones are heavy though, so prefer to think of it in kgs! My book says you should aim for about 18kg over the whole pregnancy, with a steady weight gain. So we're about half way through, and about half way through the 18kg. So that's about perfect, right? :)

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 16:36

Luckily, i both suit empire line and was recently a size bigger. Lots of my clothes still fit!

Bubbless · 14/08/2012 17:14

equimum our IL's are clearly similarly minded, and its not useful at all!!

utopian that is the cutest high vis ive ever seen!!

bella im too scared to weigh myself, plus i cant remember what i was at the start of the pregnancy! would it be in my notes anywhere?!

willyou i refuse to have a bath unless DP is in the flat, im always scared im going to fall out (when i stand up, not when im sitting... im not a giant!)

daydream [ashamed face] my sofa is one of the ones that 'eats' you, if DP isnt home i have to roll onto the floor, crawl to the doorframe, and drag myself off of the floor.. its rather undignified!

spotty i LOVE doing homemade gifts anyway, i think people will assume you just have more time on your hands as your on maternity leave!

kate ive been waking up thirst too, having to keep a drink by my bed!

cant remember who was talking about it now- but im going for tighter tops, as if i wear anything baggier i just look chubby!

Bubbless · 14/08/2012 17:31

OH- and me and DP are still on a 'no sex but neither of us knows why' policy, he said he wanted sex last night but saw the baby move
recap... SAW THE BABY MOVE! finally..
and got freaked out? Hmm
anyone else?

itsMYNutella · 14/08/2012 17:34

Found a fun site for baby names... here you can see how your preferred name has increased or decreased in use from 1996-2010.

Stacks where are you that they weigh you in kgs? I agree that stones sound heavier but I found (and sadly downloaded) a document that gives me an accurate lb to kg rate....
But having said that I'm almost a kilo lighter than last trip to the Dr 10ish days ago probably just needed a big poo Blush

MyDaydream · 14/08/2012 17:36

Our name options are in there at different stages, but I don't stress too much about it, I know that a non top 100 name could take over this year and by the time DS reaches school there are millions of them. And I always keep an ear out for kids being spoken to or about so I know what's popular in my area too, since it would be a completely different list I imagine.
After trying on my maternity clothes the other day DP said it was definitely a bump, and he took a photo of me last night in my lounging clothes where the bottom of my tummy was sticking out of my tshirt and you can tell it's bump rather than flab. I do feel good about it until I'm uncomfortable and over hot and see someone much more pregnant than me just gliding around while I'm hobbling like a pensioner!

MyDaydream · 14/08/2012 17:59

Bubbless I've not seen the baby move yet, still waiting for DP to feel it. We actually had sex for the first time since June and it made me feel really weird when he touched my bump, even though he always touches my stomach when we do it.
Nutella that's a really cool link thanks for posting. I like seeing what % of babies there are with the name, I'd always think a top 5 name would need a lot more than 1% of babies being called that to make it. I was imagining 30% of babies in a year being named Jack or Oliver!

minipie · 14/08/2012 18:31

'no sex but neither of us knows why' policy

Oh this completely describes me and DH at the moment. It's been so long it's now getting silly. But I don't particularly fancy it and I think he is a bit nervous after my various bleeding episodees ( plus he's made comments before about "won't it prod the baby" - I've told him not to flatter himself Grin)

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 18:43

I have to deliberately Not Think about it. Dp has buggered it up a couple of times by mentioning th B word in the run up, but we're managing every couple of weeks so about normal then

We've got major cash flow issues at the moment (two of the last three months have been unpaid due to various cunts fucking things up) so sex isn't really as important as just clinging on for dear life.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 18:45

What is this 'sex' thing you are all talking about? Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 18:45

Sorry you're having a shit time pidj I hope things settle down for you soon

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 18:47

It's been 9 months like this, Spotty, so do i!

Bellaboo123 · 14/08/2012 19:06

That perfectly describes my sex life too although DP is always hinting at a BJ funny he's always in the mood for that! Pisses me right off!!! I just can't be arsed!

emilyeggs · 14/08/2012 19:11

38 hrs 45 mins till my scan Grin sorry for random post

emilyeggs · 14/08/2012 19:28

bubbles I've seen my baby move, it's great Grin I'm glad to be feeling/seeing it now otherwise I would have been dreading going to the scan in anticipation of bad news. I went to a 40th birthday party and the music was so loud I could feel it going through me. I was worried the next day as I didn't feel baby at all but DH said it was probably tired from the music (his way of reassuring me). All fine now thought so maybe he was right Smile
