mini im glad its not just us having no sex for no real reason, and if there is, neither of us have talked about it!!
my DP is below average in size, and bless him he even said after saying 'wont it prod the baby?!' that he knows his wont reach but he was really worried! i dont know how to tell him that there is a whooooole load of stuff between where he could ever possibly reach, even with his fingers, to where the baby is?!

pidjin that sounds rather shite :( hope it works out for you soon!!

i talked to DP about money today, in a rather OH! Btw.. kinda fashion, were taking on the joint account / personal allowance situation as soon as hes payed of his £1200! overdraft Grin
thanks for your help there!

emily good luck!

itsMYNutella · 14/08/2012 19:51

Dream I came across it and really enjoyed fiddling around and seeing what was popular when. I agree though that it is probably also useful to know what is popular in your area; I always remember there being a lot of Daves at school...

We aren't doing too badly on the sex front... but honestly it's me bothering DP for it Blush although it is definitely infrequent.

Bubbless good luck with getting your house in order :) hope you and DP keep talking about it; and get it sorted. And well done for bringing up the issue, it isn't easy!!

pidj that sounds like incredible hard work my DP would have a serious breakdown typical angstful German in such a situation. Fingers crossed things get easier!!

ISpyPlumPie · 14/08/2012 20:03

I'm another one just checking in after a few days of not posting.

Interesting to hear how other people manage money. When DH and I first moved in together, we had separate accounts and paid different bills (can't remember exactly who paid what now) but we've had a joint account for several years now which is much less faff. All bills and other household stuff comes out of it and we each have smaller savings accounts which we use for presents for each other etc.

I'm 24 weeks today!! Went shopping with DM and she treated me to lots of lovely nursery stuff including moses basket and stand, boarder and pictures, mobile and matching bath towel and sleeping bag. I also got some more stretch suits and vests, a hat and some nappies. Still a scary amount on the list but feel like we've got all the basics now (reusing pram and carseat from DS).

Aparently, I'm another one who's guilty of snoring Blush. DH hadn't said anything, but DS got into our bed the other morning (we let him stay in if it's after 5 am as it's the only way we might get another hour!) I must have dozed off, as DS started shaking me saying "Mummy it's scary when you snore!" Oh well, might encourage him to stay in his own bed!

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 20:03

I surf on a little tablet pc and every so often PidjChick kicks and jolts it!

We're pretty damn close, Nutella, it'd be ok if either his current company would pay (admin error), my jsa would show up (been 4 weeks grr) or it was next Friday and he got paid for his evening new evening job! £100 to last til then, and most of the bills have gone out. We have a joint account, to which I have an isa attached, then he has his old account and i have savings. All money goes into the joint account and we pray hard it covers the bills!

kate2boysandabump · 14/08/2012 20:18

Pidj That sounds really stressful, hope it gets better for you two soon.

I can see my baby stretching out and we can feel kicks from the outside now. DS2 is fascinated, especially when I told him that he was a stretcher too, he has felt the baby sticking out and loved it. He keeps asking if the baby can hear him too Smile

Sex? I thought that was something other pregnant people had, it turns out I'm not alone Grin

Money, well I don't really have any!! DH earns a lot more than me, so he pays for everything! We have 2 joint accounts, one for bills and then the rest is taken out to pay for everything else for the month, food, petrol, clothes etc. We also each have a savings account, an account for car expenses that we pay into each month and another account for the kids expenses, such as swimming lessons, cubs etc, that we pay into each month, so that when the bills come all at the same time, there's enough money for them. Working out how much we spend a year on the kids activities was terrifying Shock Anything I earn goes into savings for holidays, big purchases etc. Oh and as if we didn't have enough accounts, we now have one for saving for the baby and a new car. It's a wonder my purse will shut for all the bank cards!

kate2boysandabump · 14/08/2012 20:21

Bubbless Good for you for talking to your DP. Glad that you've sorted through some things, having a baby is stressful enough without adding extra money stress. Could you help him budget to try and get his overdraft down as quick as he can? Easier said than done I know, it took me years to pay off my student overdraft.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 20:29

Argh dp has gone on a biscuit run, he's been gone an hour and has just text to say he's stopped at the pub!!! Angry

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 14/08/2012 20:34

Well we manage sex infrequently, although when we do it's normally 2-3 times in a day. It's more often in the morning when the dcs are with their dad as I'm not grumpy yet Grin and tadpole is still sleeping (I would find it odd if tadpole was awake tbh) so prob around 2-3 times every 2 weeks but all in 1 day lol

Today was busy with shopping (and returning by bus as I was too tired/hot to walk) trekking to the park then picnicking, letting the kids play whilst I gossip and then trekking home. So tired now!

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 20:37

Kate, our 5yo nephew is fascinated - he worships his big cousin and is delighted to have a turn at being the big one :o He read his school book to the baby when we visited a few weeks ago, around 18w so maybe a bit early but we enjoyed ourselves!

Spotty, biscuits must be delivered before pub, that's scandalous behaviour!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 20:41

I know, I'm most upset! To be fair he is with his boss which usually means coming home with a small wad of cash or talk of a pay rise or him promising to come to our house and do work that needs doing!

Cookiesandcream06 · 14/08/2012 20:51

bella haha I would laugh in DPs face if he seriously asked for a BJ.

pidj that really does sound rubbish, i really hope things improve really soon. You have to wait 2 weeks for JSA but after then they will back-date it won't they?
After I lost two stone and got down to 11 stone I sold all my old clothes (silly silly woman) and then a few months later fell preg, if I hadn't of had so many clear outs I would have size 14 and 16 clothes that I could be wearing right now (livid!!)

I am eating like a HORSE at the moment, what I have consumed today is crazy. Fat cow! I can see the midwife telling me ive now put on another two stone next week Blush

Bought my first materity bra today Smile From Jojo ... Cost me a mere £5! Had to get XXL but does the job but so unattractive i don't know if I can wear it yet?! But it was reduced so went for it. Also, bought some maternity knickers- biggest waste of money i've ever spent, i would say most of my normal ones are more comfortable. Loada crap!

NaomiRuth · 14/08/2012 20:53

I've felt much stronger kicks over the last few days, it seems to be particularly active when I'm trying to get to sleep. Will it improve or is this it now? A lifetime of lack of sleep!

Interesting about everyone's budgeting. We have a joint account and everything goes in and out of this. We earn similar amounts now but that will change when I'm on mat leave for a year and hope to be part-time after that. We used to do separate finances but spent so long maintaining a spreadsheet to work it out and transferring sums between us we gave up as it was ultimately pointless.

Scan tomorrow morning at 11am!! Will be joining team pink or blue after that Grin.

FriendofDorothy · 14/08/2012 20:56

Is anyone else still not feeling kicks?

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2012 20:56

Good luck with the scan Naomi your movement will be rocking the baby to sleep so that's why they will be moving more when you're resting, it will only get worse Wink

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 21:05

Cookies i signed on 4 weeks ago, should i ring and nag? The advantage to being skint is i was still living in ill-fitting clothes pre pg! Have now had a clear out of stuff i just wasn't particularly fond of, if i haven't charity shopped it already I'll bring it to coffee and you can have a few weeks wear if you like :) Sort of delayed charity shopping iyswim?

I always know when it's 7:20pm, i get kicked Hmm

Bellaboo123 · 14/08/2012 21:06

Good luck naomi

fod the kicking is getting stronger here...is your placenta anterior I can't remember?

23 weeks today...can't believe we're nearly in the 3rd trimester! Just read another chapter of my pregnancy book and it's talking about different labour techniques already! Has anyone thought of this yet!!!

FriendofDorothy · 14/08/2012 21:09

MY notes just say my placenta is 'left lateral' whatever that means.

Bellaboo123 · 14/08/2012 21:28

That means its sitting on the left hand side of your uterus...how many weeks are you now? If you're concerned you should give the MW a call...although it sounds like there's been a big range from when we've all started feeling movement Smile

Bellaboo123 · 14/08/2012 21:30

Oooh meant to say my yoga ball/birthing ball thingy arrived today...after the dogs had freaked out over it Grin I finally got to sit on it...so comfy and nice. Tempted to swap my chair at work for it! I'd recommend one!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/08/2012 21:42

Still catching up with the chatathon that's happened over the last few hours while I've been gone! Went out for Thai.

Thought everyone chatting about baby names in regions might like this site. shhh don't tell mn it's bounty

FriendofDorothy · 14/08/2012 21:44

I am 22 weeks. I am wondering whether being overweight affects it. It is also my first baby and I suspect I am panicking unnecessarily. Every now and then I get a feeling in my belly like I am going over a bump too fast, but I am not feeling distinct kicks which worries me. Maybe I am just being too melodramatic.

itsMYNutella · 14/08/2012 21:52

Friend I'm 21 weeks and don't feel distinct kicks, it's more a weird bit of sort of poking which I could dismiss as bowels doing their stuff but I'm attributing to baby... it's my way of not worrying about it.

Anyway, better go to bed; I think DP is already asleep... And we all thought we get tired being pregnant Wink... he got up after me as well this morningHmm!

Bellaboo123 · 14/08/2012 21:54

I bet that's LO kicking...it's just you getting used to the sensation (listen to me sounding like I'm a professional - its my 1st too!!!) they'll now doubt get stronger as the days and weeks go on! X

emilyeggs · 14/08/2012 22:34

Quick question, has anyone used a swinging crib from birth ? Any rough ideas on how long a baby can stay in there untill I have to move baby into a big cot? I don't have room in my bedroom for a big cot and have been told Moses basket don't last very long.

emilyeggs · 14/08/2012 22:37

Ps good luck. naomi Smile
